We met here for brunch with family (a halfway meeting spot) the day after Christmas. They were busy but handled it well. We were seated quickly and our server was sweet and efficient. We had coffees that were typical diner coffee and pretty good. We ordered the chorizo burrito, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, and the skillets. It was all hot fresh and very good. I will definitely get that burrito again and the hash-browns were so good! Crispy and buttery. We hung out for a little bit catching up (they had slowed down and no one was waiting) and they didn't try to rush us and still gave us great service. Lights on, a half a dozen waitresses, 2 people cleaning tables, sounds in the kitchen... this place is full of LIFE! This is the hottest, and best breakfast in the Wise county area right now! Ambiance matters, and the radio had Dolly, Willie, Waylon and Hank in the first 30 min! For a guy like me, I'm sold! You just can't beat the Solid Gold country! Who would've thought I'd have a culinary first in Decatur, Texas. I'll be honest, I've never even heard of tzatziki on an omelette, but I'm here to tell you... I'm here for it! You want a Gyro meat omelette, cooked to absolute perfection, a 1/2 a mile high, with Gyro meat in it... and tzatziki sauce too? If this is your flavor profile, this place is worth the drive! In the words of my wife, and to the waitress and the owner... this is the Best omelette I have ever had! As a certified snob, who has eaten omelettes on at least 3 continents, she knows what she's talking about! And, as the waitress told us... the biscuits stand on their own! Stellar! We arrived at 9 am on Sunday to very cheerful, friendly staff. The place has lots of comfortable seating. You could probably bring a large group and have plenty of space. We ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast, Eggs OM, grits And biscuits & gravy along with strawberry French toast. The food is fantastic. Not one complaint. Servers are nice and food is priced a little cheaper than in the big city. Highly recommend. read more

True this new place for lunch. The location has held numerous restaurants over the years so the parking lot and portions of the building like the floors are old and need some TLC. Greeted right away, picked our seats and a very welcoming server was there within two minutes. Took our drink order and dropped large single page menu with breakfast on one side and lunch on then other. Plenty of burger and sandwich choices with several "new" choices for both. The favorites portion listed diner standards and I chose the Chicken Fried Steak; a benchmark choice when reviewing a new place. Two sides, toast, and gravy accompany the CFS. Fountain drinks are very good, McDonald's level good. The food was out in about four minutes, hot and fresh, as the sides were too. Heavy was good. Needed a bit of salt by flavor was there. Nice crispy batter that stood up to the gravy. Thick, good size portion of steak did not cover the plate but was a nice size I could barely finish. Fries were hot but needed salt. The mashed potatoes had good consistency with a nice flavor profile. Toast was fresh, buttered and hot. Overall very good lunch meal. I really want I try the gyro sandwich and get omelette with tasziki sauce. Once profits build up, resurface the floor and the ambience will be much better. Clean and great servers, three of them handled about 35 people. I will be back for breakfast. read more

First off it's great to have a new breakfast spot in Decatur. We had an early lunch but seeing the breakfast dishes being served to a packed house the selection looked great. Our service was great. There was one open table when we arrived. For the volume of folks our wait time was very short. Place is clean and has a diner feel to it. Will be back our food tasted great and was hot and fresh. Glad to have this new option in town. Super friendly service. Breakfast and lunch are served all day, so our group of four split - 2 had breakfast, 2 had lunch. I agree that it is better than Brandi's! So this would be my first choice out of the two. However, the food was bland. Fries were nothing special. Too thick and dry. My jalapeño burger fell completely apart. I had to eat it with a fork. The patty crumbled apart. Our service was good. Anyway, I'll give it another try and amend my review if needed! read more

Meh. Although new, Western Egg operates like every other home cooking restaurant in the neighborhood. Food isn't cooked fresh to order. Most of it is cooked pre-morning and then left under a heat lamp to maintain temperature as over priced gas station food. No one cooks to order except the IHOP. But, if I had to choose from Brandy's or the Western Egg, I choose Western Egg as Brandy's is down right disgusting in every way... read more

The squeeze and I split a two meat plate with brisket and sausage and two sides, cowboy cole slaw and Rooster Tails (Deep fried onion petals). The brisket was moist and very tender, with a slight smokiness. The sausage was deeply smoked, sliced in half and charred a bit on the flattop. The slaw and Rooster Tails were really good. A nice slightly spicy dip was served with the onions. Good BBQ sauce for the brisket, and they also had a wall of pain with some choice hot sauces on it. I didn't partake, since I have a flight to catch in the morning. They brought a second plate for no charge. The squeeze had a canned IPA and I had a Shiner Bock draft for libations. We really enjoyed the meal. Morgan was an excellent server and didn't try to shoo us out even though more customers were coming in. I wish I lived around here so I could try the other items on the menu.

We had a great breakfast at Western Egg in Decatur! I ordered the Bacado Omelette, and my husband had the Country Fried Steak Breakfast. Both meals were fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering how much food we received. We both ended up taking leftovers home. What really made the visit stand out was the service. Our server was incredibly attentive and observant without being intrusive. She kept our drinks filled, checked on us at just the right times, and made sure we had everything we needed. Unfortunately, I forgot to get her name before we left, but she deserves recognition for providing some of the best service we've had in a long time. If you're looking for a hearty, reasonably priced breakfast with excellent service in Decatur, Western Egg is well worth the visit. We'll definitely be back! read more

Coleslaw was creamy and not too sweet and we also really liked their macaroni salad. 2 things. Green beans weren't seasoned. Super bland. And I'm not a fan of how they prepackage their sides and you grab it out of the warmer or cooler. Their sides are some of the best in DFW. Let people see the product. Preparing them ahead gives a generic look and feel. I almost forgot the banana pudding. Soooo good. A must try! I liked that the lady stopped by and how everything was...it was warm and genuine. My coworkers and I prefer to find local eateries whenever possible. For lunch one day, we searched out The Woolf Den, decided that we could all be happy with something on their extensive menu, and had a surprisingly delicious meal here. I got the French Dip sandwich, which can be risky. A lot of times French Dips are dry and boring with a side of jus to moisten it up. Here at Woolf Den the sandwich would have been divine on its own...the jus was just the icing on the cake! The sandwich was closer to a Philly cheesesteak--thinly-sliced, griddled steak, mushrooms, peppers, onions, and gooey melted cheese on a hoagie roll. The jus was flavorful. When I was done dipping my sandwich, I had half a mind to drink the remaining jus...it was that good! However, I'm a civilized human being, so I just dipped everything I could find into it...crackers, mainly. So good! I think I'll dream about that sandwich. My coworkers got the club sandwich and the Philly cheesesteak. Both really enjoyed everything they had. The women behind the counter were sweet, too. It's nice to be greeted when you walk through the door. They also offered good recommendations. I don't think you can go wrong at this place. I'd love to go back and try more of the menu, but I don't know if I'll get the chance. If you need to take food to go, all meals are served in styrofoam boxes. You can also call in orders and pick them up. This seems like a very convenient option in these parts. All in all, I'd definitely go back. I'm actually bummed that I've got to leave tomorrow and most likely won't get the chance.

Our server was so attentive without hovering. My friend enjoyed a breakfast plate and I had a breakfast burrito, which was a really good portion. Coffee cups stayed full, and we were too when we left. We stayed to catch up for a long time, watching to be sure we weren't holding up a table for others and never felt rushed.
