Maggie at Westcott is amazing. My Dr sent me to Westcott because I had this strong cramp on my RHS that persisted for two years and was getting worse. At my first visit with Maggie she diagnosed it as an intercostal muscle strain. She treated me with massage, pressure and a home exercise routine that I did every day. After 2 years of back pain, I went to my doctor and he recommended physical therapy. Westcott was one of two places he recommended. Was he ever right! The staff is amazing, and my Physical Therapist Maggie was outstanding. She took time to understand exactly what was going on and then quickly isolated the cause of the pain. Then she gave me a series of stretches to improve it. As I improved each week, the pain would often move to a new source and Maggie would explain why that was happening and then assign some incremental stretches which worked. She also took the time to teach me good sitting posture as I was doing everything wrong. I could notice a big difference soon after. After a few months she focused on strengthening exercises. I was diligent in doing the exercises each day and I'm happy to say I'm now pain free. Thank you Maggie, I am so grateful to you!!! I came to Westcott for physical therapy related to lower back pain after seeing a spine specialist at Stanford. I received fantastic care from Abha over a lengthy period of time. While my back pain was not "cured", we made a great deal of progress by combining ultrasound, manual therapy, and building out a challenging program of core strengthening and stabilization exercises. Abha was excellent and constantly updating the exercises both during our sessions and my home program, to make sure they were challenging enough to promote continued improvement. Additionally she did a wonderful job explaining what was happening, and why each exercise or stretch we added would contribute to increased functional endurance for my back. I can't recommend Abha, and the rest of the Westcott team enough. read more

I've been going to Westcott for a few months now to get work done on my hip and arm, and I'm in awe of Trisha. She's delivered great results using creative approaches and is always ready with a new idea with something isn't working. I went to Westcott Physical Therapy for close to a year. Everyone is very friendly and down to earth and they make you feel very welcome. I was originally referred here for bursitis in the hip, but after working with me a couple of times, Abha felt there was more to my pain, as well as believing that my back was somehow also involved. She suggested an MRI. I ended up with 2 MRIs, one showing a labral tear in my hip, and the other showing 2 protruding discs in my lower back. I was very impressed with Abha's keen ability to detect these things and to point me onto the right path. Due to her, I began being treated for my actual ailments. I had had this injury for a couple of years without knowing what it was. Due to this, I had lost a lot of strength in my hips. Abha helped me go from having approx. 5% of the strength I should have in my hip, to at least 50% by the time our therapy was done. She did this with a combination of ultrasound therapy and exercises isolating the muscles surrounding the injured hip. She also helped me to understand what was not working right in my hip and what she was trying to help happen there. She explained how I should treat the hip when sore, with ice packs and stretching, etc. I found out most of the things I was doing before going here, to deal with the pain and to attempt to exercise anyway, probably were only making things worse. I am extremely thankful for this new understanding as it has aided me in continuing to strengthen my hip after therapy was over. Abha also formulated a home therapy routine, which I still do daily, and went over what machines at the gym I could use and how I should use them. Everyone here is absolutely awesome, but Abha helped me more than she will ever know. She cares a lot about her clients and is very hands on with them.THANK YOU!! read more

My baby has been diagnosed with low muscle tone and therefore was unable to meet her gross motor milestone. My pediatrician recommended this place and I am really happy with the services at westcott. Chris (my baby's therapist) is very approachable , innovative and very meticulous in her approach. She makes it a point to discuss the activities done in the session and also gives a to do list to be done at home . Within a span of 3 months my baby has made humongous amount of progress. She is trying to crawl , she stands on her own and is much more physically active . A big thumbs up to Chris . After reviewing my previous post, I realized I was so focused on the awesomeness of this establishment that I didn't share my personal journey and challenge. I fractured my shoulder last year from a bad fall in a grocery store. I was referred to Westcott Physical Therapy by Dr. Warren King (awesome surgeon, repaired my soccer daughter's ACL) for therapy in the hopes of avoiding surgery. Well, as of this writing we are approximately 5 months into therapy and I can confidently say my shoulder mobility has gone from non-existent to almost full range of motion. I cannot say enough great things about Lance and his team. Don't even hesitate.... (BTW, Lance also treated my daughter's ACL repair/ post surgery and she returned to college for another season of great soccer, went all the way to playoffs...) read more

I have a neurological disease. It happens that Westcott PT is one of the few out-patient PT providers with knowledge about how to deal with it. They are much more personal than the cold PT chains where you're with an unfamiliar therapist each time. The staff is very friendly and flexible; they also seem accommodating regarding handling your billing for your medical insurance carrier. They've relocate to a newer setting on 2nd St near Main Street, still in the midst of downtown Los Altos formerly the location of the Los Altos Coffee Shop). Have been seeing Lance Westcott for 4 months with over a dozen appointments to treat a herniated disc. Lance is a skilled and very personable PT who will take you through the exercises and make you feel comfortable and at ease. The recovery took time but I did see results and excellent improvement. Lance is flexible and very happy to tailor the 40 min sessions to your needs. Often we would go through exercises and he would teach me how to do the exercises at home, by taking photos/video with my phone for me to reference later. This is a great way to save on costs. One key difference with Westcott is that Lance does NOT use any PT assistants/aids and you get the entire 40 min session with him (licensed, experienced PT). When you research PTs, this is a *key* question to ask them. I went to another PT place in MV and they had me with the PT for maybe 12 min and the other 38 min was with an aid who spent 5 min setting up a muscle stimulator which I used unattended for 33 min. I started seeing Trisha at Westcott 2 weeks after my baby was born. My core muscles were so weak and my lower back was so painful that I couldn't look after my children. I started going twice a week, Trisha would work on my back then workout a plan to give me exercises that I could do at home at my own pace. Sometimes I would have to come into see her with my baby and sometimes my 3 year old. She was never bothered by this even when the baby was screaming. We would just work on exercises where I could hold my baby and get some treatment at the same time. There were times where Trisha or Michelle (the friendly office lady) would be holding my baby while I was doing the exercises. Trisha was always so patient and understanding. But most of all she really knows her stuff and was able to 'fix' me. We are moving soon, I'm really dreading having to find a "Trisha replacement.' read more

Unfortunately I had high hopes after reading the other reviews but was very disappointed w my experience. I was told the initial eval would be 40 min and $150. Although rather pricey, gave it a shot. The visit was 29 minutes with 5-7 min "eval" and 20 min massage. No real advice about home exercises or valuable input. All in all a wasted $150. Getting info was like pulling teeth from the therapist...def not what I expected. Tried a different place...so much happier! read more

I have been coming to Westcott for several months after throwing out my back. It is a smaller business and has a mom-and-pop store vibe compared to bigger box physical therapy places I have been to with dedicated billing departments, etc. The front desk/billing/management are all fine, but the most extraordinary feature is one of the therapists I have been working with - Jillian. I am a medical professional myself and have worked personally and professionally with other physical therapists. Jillian has something that can't be taught- she has that "it factor" where I don't even think she realizes how good she is as a therapist. She is a phenomenal diagnostician- asking the right questions and performing the right tests to really get to the root of the problem, not just addressing what you think you have wrong. She is also great interpersonally, which helps, but even otherwise I am incredibly indebted to her for not only helping me through the terrible back pain episode, but inspiring me to change my lifestyle. I have heard that Tricia and Lance are also excellent therapists, but haven't had the opportunity to work with them. Anyway, just wanted to leave a review for the best PT I have ever worked with. read more
