I like that these guys will tell you if something is needed where some shops (I will not mention names eh em) will tell you need to replace something that is not needed and spend x amount of dollars for nothing. This location has been bought by Firestone, and this review is not targeting C&C…read more TLDR: This is an incredibly dishonest auto shop, and could have put my family and I at risk due to negligence and deceit. Take your car somewhere else. I went in for an oil change and hadn't had any work done for awhile, so I expected a lot to be uncovered in the inspection. They came back and told me that my brake pads/rotors and struts/shocks needed to be replaced. Specifically they told me the front brake were at less than 4mm and needed to be replaced ASAP, the back brakes were at 5mm and could wait 3 - 4 months, and there were "rust rings" in my rotors so they would also need to be replaced. They quoted me a little over $3,500 for everything. I know a little about cars and have mechanics in the family, so I ran everything by them first. 1) We decided to do the brakes ourselves (my uncle worked at a brake shop). We found that there was no issue with the rotors in what they described as "rust rings". Saved a few bucks there. The front pads were at about 4mm, so they likely did check those. We got to the back brakes, and had to use a sledge hammer to get the tires off (indication that they didn't take them off to check). When we got the pads off there most almost nothing left, and they were about to start grinding the rotors. Another indication that they lied about checking them because there was certainly not 5mm left. 2) I took my car to another shop to have the struts/shocks looked at after realizing the lies this Firestone told about the brakes. I had noticed the cars handling was a bit spongey and bouncy, so seemed like it could be true. The next shop actually test drove the car, and found the issue wasn't the struts/shocks, rather 3/4 tires had broken belts. This Firestone clearly did not check the car thoroughly and lied about the issues I was having to milk me for money. The scariest part about this is that broken tire belts increase the risk for blowouts at high speed. So I could have put $3,500 into my car, and still had something catastrophic occur that could have caused injury to my family, me or someone else. Not much else needs to be said about this business.

They looked at my van that I brought in with what I thought was a brake issue. They talked me out of spending money on the problem and to wait a little while. Unprompted from a conversation we had at the counter they did research on additional parts that could improve my cars performance for what I use it for and gave me the free advice. With a mini van passing 100000 miles I know I will need a reliable mechanic moving forward. Chicago is rough on cars! A few months later I returned with a check engine light issue and they recommended a few repairs and they came up with a reasonable quote. I dont think padded anything or asked me to replace anything I didnt need. Email and phone/text service was good too. Just honest hard working people here I think! I will be back. I was referred to this shop by a friend. I brought my car there for an oil leak. They said they…read morecouldn't find the problem, but cleaned the engine and did other tweaks and said that I would need to drive it for awhile and then bring it back for them to see where the oil is going. I brought it back, twice! They were not able to identify the problem, they fixed nothing, and I later found out there were missing bolts and other issues they caused with their "tweaks". They charged me each time I took the car to them, I paid over 2k and nothing was fixed. I finally took the car to an "alley mechanic" who was able to identify the problem and fix it, for less than half the money I paid this shop. Let me know if anyone wants his information, he did what this shop couldn't! I don't know about cars, I have to rely on experts to identify the issue and fix my car. I feel I was taken advantage of and ripped off. These people are not experts and are con-artists ripping off customers that aren't mechanics themselves. Do not trust them!
