Roseville, CA. West Elm in the Fountains shopping plaza. West Elm sells contemporary furniture and housewares. They carry furniture for every room in the house. The shop is beautifully staged and items displayed. Most everything is clearly marked with prices. Pricing is not astronomical. Good quality items that will last. They encourage sitting and testing out furniture. Testing out not reenacting a 10 year old birthday party shenanigans. I do enjoy shopping at this location. In the Sacramento area there are two locations with this being one of them. The other is in downtown Sacramento. Parking in that regard is much better at the Fountains since Wear Elm's building is on the peripheral right there with its own parking lot. Several handicapped parking spaces right in front. I personally don't recall any issues with customer service at the shop. I've been a customer for quite awhile having bought bedding, kitchen serving ware, and living room furniture ( with home delivery). But this place can get busy on the weekends and as par for the course now days in retail; they might not have enough staff to accommodate the occasional influx of customers. I recently purchased the coolest living room floor lamp from West Elm. I love it! Like many West Elm furniture pieces, it is modern, unique, and gorgeous. This is such a great place to shop for furniture and accessories! I could wander around West Elm for hours for home design ideas, home decor, and just to see what is new and shiny!:) What a huge inventory! My past purchases have included a dresser and table lamp for my bedroom and an outdoor planter for my patio. I still love all three of these items. They bring me such pleasure. And now my lovely floor lamp will add to my joyful West Elm collection. Customer service was so wonderful when I bought my floor lamp! Previous visits were not as good as I pointed out in my first review. So, to set the record straight, I want to enthusiastically say I received 5 star assistance on this visit from several super nice employees. SCAMMED BUSINESS. AVOID WEST ELM at all costs. Be careful when making a return, as sometimes they won't refund the full amount. When I called to verify after the transaction was completed, they gave me excuses, claiming the deduction was for shipping costs. On one occasion, they did not refund my sales tax. It took me 30 minutes on the phone to get the sales tax refunded. However, upon reviewing my bank account, I noticed they only refunded the sales tax and never returned the merchandise amount. So the order of dining table with 6 chairs placed end of JULY for a delivery mid September.... Delivery came in on the 10th of September with broken marble board that should be placed on top of the base!!! Talked to customer service, placed another order of that top marble for a delivery mid October, took the one it's broken and left the rest. Here is the crazy part. Received an email 10 days later!!!! Saying sorry we don't have it in stock anymore your order being cancelled. Called customer service again to find if there is any of the stores has it.... NONE... I just don't want to return it after that long waiting. Anyway there is no other choice than returning the order. After all what happened from messing my order, wasting my time.. They want to charge me the fee for the shipping of the chairs because there is no damage in it.... Now that's really tell how they really are!!!! not just the worse but they are not even trying. You might walk there and see something nice, but they will either screw it when delivering the product or you will have to pay shipping fee in case you don't like it. It would be 4-) weeks I spent 5,000 on the haven couch and they delayed it to sept 24 and now emailed me it's October 24 th So .... 4 months without a couch . Now when I called customer service ( very helpful lady ) she said it may be longer it's a special order so no refund and even if I would have to shop and anyone is two months out so means no sofa for 6 months . 5 stars because of Miranda. I couldn't give her an employee survey since I ordered over the phone, so I'm Yelping. I ordered a dining table online and it was $150 white glove service because it's too big for UPS. Online it showed that there were no tables available to be delivered to the nearest store for pick up. I called customer service and they stated their system showed the same thing, as well as the ordering being ready to scheduled for delivery already... and it had o my been an hr between ordering it and being on the phone on hold to speak to customer service. The customer service representative suggested that I called the nearest stores myself so that I could ask if there were any available in their system for delivery and pick up. I called Roseville and Miranda helped me. She stated they had a base available but had to call the warehouse to see if a glass top was available to be delivered to their store. She also helped speak to customer service for me to try to cancel the online order since I called within the house so I would t be charged the delivery charge online. Miranda took her time and was able to order a glass top from the warehouse and shopping it to the store with just a $40 charge. She saved me time and money. Saved me a whole hour of my life being on hold with customer service again!!! Great customer service. I learned my lesson to always call the store first for inventory before ordering online!! Nice store. Had item we wanted to purchase but the price tag had item listed at $1299. They stated the price tag was wrong and they raised prices and it was actually $1499. Called a supervisor and stated they raised prices a week ago and didn't update the price tag. Asked if they would honor the tag they have it listed at and she said no. The furniture and decor looks great in the store but we've only had poor experiences after purchase. We bought two outdoor pillows that faded within one season (whereas my Target pillows are still going strong!). We bought the Portside Outdoor Expandable table. It's only outdoors for a few months out of the year at our vacation home. The weather is moderate, usually between 60-80, no significant humidity. Yet the wood is warping in less than 2 years. It's hard to tell from the pictures but each wood plank sinks in the middle. The tabletop surface is no longer flat so cups wobble on them. The wood is not smooth so it's easy to get a splinter. I frequently visit this West Elm branch to either get some inspiration or to actually buy furniture. I can account for numerous visits and they have all been very pleasant. At first I'm approached to get checked on how I'm doing. If I am just browsing there's no pressure or interrogation of any kind. However if I need help, I receive the attention and customer service that's above and beyond! Such was the case with my previous visits with the manager and the designer. I have a long list of items I want to buy that are specifically from West Elm. This store features modern and comfortable furniture with housewares to compliment them. While limited with choices, you could easily decorate a whole house from this one store. The atmosphere was bright and cheery, along with the employees who greeted us with smiles and offered helpful advise if we needed it. They display a nice variety of original decor and home furnishings that would agree with the most discriminating of tastes. We have been couch shopping for a good month at many stores in the Sacramento area. All other furniture stores have graciously let us sit on a couch so that we can see if it is a good fit for us. How ridiculous to think that a person wouldn't want to test out the comfort of a couch before purchasing. Honestly, if I could give 0 stars I would. Ordered a table in May with a delivery date of June/ early July. Since then, West Elm and the Ryder distribution center have lost the initial table, delayed the table for months, then scheduled 3 times for delivery and each time they have canceled on the date of. Then, they lost the table AGAIN. It's now end of November with no actual idea when the table would ever be delivered. Their customer service is quick to respond with excuses about what happened. Holly cow, we will never purchase from them again and anyone we hear is in the market for furniture, or even small items we make sure to direct them elsewhere. This place is a joke. I made a multiple furniture purchase in this store and sales person assured me that i can apply for West Elm card online , than call the store back and repurchase furniture and get 10% back as a store credit/ voucher for future purchase . After being on hold for over an hour I was told by manager Regina that I can only get voucher for about half of my purchase and to email back when i get the card. I started getting their catalog when we moved into our home in Reno, we inherited it from the former owners. I wasn't really into the kind of furniture that was in it but when I saw the store on a recent trip to Roseville we decided to take a look. I am so glad we went in! While the catalog made them look kind of cookie cutter, the store offers a lot of eclectic looking items. I fell in love with some lighting fixtures that are not the average looking lights. Unfortunately they were sold out, but they took our name and called them when they came back in. The customer service was over the top. I have always been a fan of West elms! Majority of our furniture is from west elms. Coffee table, dining table and chairs, bar stools, and sectional. Everything has been great but until my recent purchases. I bought the Andes collection sectional last year in Oct, it took 2 months just for delivery. It is now only Aug and the sectional is already starting to slouch. The cushions on it is starting to show wear and tear and I'm honestly not even home to sit on it that much. I also bought the brass arch lamp last week and when I went home to put it together, the quality on it just makes it look cheap. Mind you this is a $300 lamp. I also got the hex coffee table that was $140 when I went home to open the box, the screws were missing. I am still waiting on the delivery of the futon for my spare bedroom and I'm just praying that this purchase still hold West elms standards. All our other furniture that we've had for over 8 years are better quality then the stuff they have now. Is it me or did West elms quality go down hill? On another side not, I've been to this location at least 3xs now in the past week. No customer service, not once. We are a bit lucky in that this West Elm is in Roseville. I believe the next closest location is in the Bay Area. They sell furniture for the living room, bedroom and dining room, in addition to dining ware, bed linens and a limited selection of outdoor planters and decor. If you are into the mid-century modern look, you will love this store. I recently bought a coffee table from this store. The staff was helpful in answering my questions and even carried the table to my car and loaded it in for me. If the item will comfortably fit in your vehicle, you can do the same to save on shipping costs and the wait time for delivery. The furniture is on the pricier side, but well constructed and beautifully designed. If you sign up for their email mailing list, they frequently let you know about sales promotions. read more

This store is racist, rude and has horrible customer service. We've spent a lot of money here, we redecorated our house and had to come multiple times, and the only nice, sweet employee is Miranda. She always said hi when you come in, and helped us so much really went above and beyond. But the others they don't say hi when you walk in, (okay that's fine), but they completely ignore you, and walk by you like your not there. In more then on occasion when we went they don't acknowledge you but when caucasian people walk in after you, they say hi. There is a bald man that works there he's been rude more then once. Customer service is everything when you have a brick and mortar store. They need to train the staff to take better care of the customers. We had to deal with one rude manger who did not want to sell the floor display items even after we confirmed they would over the phone . Cashier was also very rude and did not want to get someone to help us out with our large items. We felt like they could not be bothered with us. Terrible in store/online and exchange process. My daughter gifted me a lamp which I returned to get a different style. When I went into the store they couldn't issue a e-gift card because the order was not showing delivered in their system. Clearly I had the lamp. The person upfront stated she had to call CS and allow 24 hours for a e-gift card to be sent. I called the store the next day only to find out it was still showing in process. The GM stated she would follow up and call me back. She did a few minutes later to advice the credit was sent to the credit card instead of issuing the a e-gift card. The poor system process and lack of ability to communicate clearly amongst employees made it a terrible experience. First and last time doing business with West Elm. They clearly need a better online tool and effective way that allows for their stores to do business. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. Bought the mid-century queen bed. It arrived with a defective finish. They took it back and weeks later we received a new one. They assembled it and it looked fine. However, when we went to sleep, we found out that the bed squeaked like a 200 year-old ship. Contacted customer "service" who responded with several questions including one that asked for the combined weight of my partner and myself. Odd? Rude? All of the above? Yes. I responded (less than 300lbs total in case anyone else would want to know for some reason). Emailed service again and they apologized for the quality and the weight question and suggested that I tighten the screws or lubricate the joints and such... Ok. New bed. Over $700 and professionally set up and I'm on the ground trying to tighten screws (there are a *lot* of screws). This did not work and I was not about to take the thing apart to oil or wax it or whatever. Another email to service. They included the supposed quality control team on the email response to me and requested that I send pictures of the bed. WTAF? How would pictures give any info on a squeaky bed? Whatever. I sent them pictures. No response. Asked for an update. No response. Sent flame mail. Got a response. They gave me some options including getting another bed. Unfortunately I chose the latter and weeks later another bed was professionally set up. The installers said that there had been something wrong with the manufacture of the bed. It still squeaked. I'm done. I've bought a couple other pieces from West Elm but I'm never going to buy anything from them or their affiliates again. If I want crap I can get that at Ikea and for much less. I would strongly recommend that people take their business elsewhere. The internet is littered with businesses that have failed because of crap products and especially *bad customer service*. read more
