Before there was Nike (Adidas, Keen, Danner, Martens, LaCrosse, Posh Rebook, Rogue and others), there was West Coast Shoe Company. When Oregon was wilderness, they made logger boots, the famous "cork boots". They evolved their bootmaking to supply workers who climbed our hydro-fed electrical towers, smoke jumpers - fighting forest fires, volunteer firefighters and motorcyclists needing wind and crash proof boots. If you need a pro boot for any of those, there is literally no where else in the world to get it. What's pro? For a logger, a boot with spikes for working in 14 hours a day. Tree climber, a boot with good support. High voltage electrical worker, good support and electrical insulation that could save a life. Firefighter, flame and heat resistance with hours of support. Cyclers, extra leather by the clutch and crashworthiness. If you are a warehouse worker, steel toes for saving feet. Wesco makes all of those in standard and custom. They also have a new women's line, Van Spijker, which is very steampunk and priced for countesses. All of their boots are available in off the shelf standard sizes, custom made with every option and in their outlet - which you can visit here or on the Internet. Sizes run large. I can't yet afford their boots. They do maintain their value in the secondary market though. They are a great candidate for your relatives who are countesses, hedge fund uncles who ride a 40K Harley or a vintage Indian, or people that want the best boot made in the USA. If your industrial job has a super generous shoe allowance, maybe. In fact encourage them to up the allowance for US made and local. There are plenty of second level workboots but these are not them. Love the boots, I have 4 pairs and will get more. Actually that's why I am writing this, called today and they always pick up but the will redirect you to a line that doesn't pick up and then you end up playing phone tag for days and I live like 8 miles away... it's frustrating that you pay as much as you have to for custom boots and get the run around every time. Also they should try to figure out how to keep the heels from falling off, it happens way more then should be normal. Customer service needs some work read more

My first pair of boots as an apprentice High Voltage Lineman, 20 years ago were Wesco......after taking a short break from linework, to run my own business..... its time to get back into the High Voltage trade...... and I looked no further than Wesco again. We just moved to the Hillsboro area and what a pleasant surprise to learn they are 25 minutes from my house. With all the Covid 19 BS, the showroom is by appointment only and after a couple emails with Chris, I called and made an appointment for the next day at 1pm and was given perfect instructions on needing a mask and making sure I hadn't been around any sick people...... NO Problem...... Chris even gave me his cell phone number so I could call when I reached the building and could have the boots I wanted ready and waiting. I cant say enough good things about the service and the quality of my new boots, just like they have been for 100 years....... what a beautiful facility that is SPOTLESS clean, with everything laid out like the eye candy it is....... and that leather smell!!! Fantastic quality and service is so hard to find these days, its amazing to see that Wesco hasn't sacrificed any of either. Thank you Chris..... Thank you Wesco. Read those ridiculous bad reviews carefully...... use your brain people..... its a hand made product, from the hide of an animal........ be willing to wait for something that is made by a human....... otherwise go buy yourself one of the cheap boots that won't last nearly as long and cant be rebuilt. read more

Ok, I have no idea why one of the premiere shoe companies in the world has a three star rating, that's nuts. Skimming these reviews, I think there's just some bizarre expectations and/or unwillingness to spend a few weeks breaking in new boots on display here. I purchased a pair of custom engineer boots back in October directly from Chris Warren a their shop in Scappoose, Oregon while on a road trip to Seattle. Chris was incredibly chill, down to earth, funny, and answered all my questions and concerns effortlessly while measuring my feet. The only snag was they were out of the brown domain leather I'd seen on Ironheart's website, so I had to 'settle' for brown Chromexcel, which I later learned is literally one of best leathers money can buy from Horween's tannery in Chicago. The boots arrived in a sturdy cardboard box with a catalog and care guide eleven weeks later in January, two weeks ahead of schedule, and they are stylish, heavy, almost impossibly sturdy, and the leather is gorgeous. Stitching and attention to detail is top-notch. The break-in period was intense, they *will* chew up your feet for a few weeks, but it's completely worth it - they now fit like a glove and are the most comfy pair of boot *or shoes* I've ever worn. I love 'em. Again, to all the irritable reviewers who think they're paying a premium for comfort right out of the box - this company makes some of the most rugged, long-lasting boots on the market. Boots that will last longer than you will if you just clean and oil them. Take the time to slowly break them in before shipping them back to Wesco and going all keyboard warrior on their Yelp page. This firm at the very least is terrible at customer service; and has given me no indication that they ever plan on sending me the boots I paid for, despite happily accepting my prepayment. I ordered some boots that the company is now seven weeks overdue in delivering. Every time I call or email them, they simply tell me there will be additional, unexplained delays of indefinite duration. I paid $700, I waited over four months, and I have a chain of evasive email apologies and nothing else to show for my purchase. This company has apparently taken my money, and does not intend to ever give me what I paid for. read more

Wesco are known as one of the USA's (and probably world's) best manufacturers of working and motorcycle boots. Based in a rather small town just outside Portland, Oregon, they've been making work boots since 1918. They are best known for two ranges of footwear: their work boots aimed at loggers and telegraph linesmen; and their motorcycle boots. The quality of the products is second to none, with a build quality designed to last (literally) a life-time, using special heavy-duty leathers. Hard to believe if you are used to fashion footwear that falls apart after five minutes, but then these products are in a different league altogether. If you really do punish your footwear (ie you are a real logger or lumberjack!) they offer a rebuild service, although I suspect it'd be a pain to use from the UK. Somehow, I doubt most UK customers will ever need it. Unsurprisingly, such build quality comes at a hefty price: $400 and upwards, to be precise. But then again, you'll never need to buy another pair. Interestingly, despite being so heavily built (and heavy), they are amazingly comfortable to wear, with top quality vibram soles and heels and deep padded linings and interiors. They sell both stock boots and custom-made boots, so can accommodate requests for different colour leathers. Their workshops have a small display area as well as a window which lets you watch the boot-making process at first hand. If you are buying a stock size, it's worth looking at the websites of some of their stockists, who may sell the same products cheaper. (Some will also order custom boots from Wesco for you at a discount). This is what I've always done, as the saving is worth it - especially when you add shipping, import duty and taxes. Also beware of the difference between US and UK shoe sizes: it's worth e-mailing them beforehand to check for fit. (If buying custom boots, they will send you a form around which you trace the outline of foot for real). read more

For decades this manufacturer has been making high quality work boots. It now also makes fashion boots for women. The prices are high, especially for customizing and so is the quality, durability and originality. I bought the boots now called "The Boss;" a motorcycle boot that can be customized. Mine had kevlar lining, skid-resistant soles but no straps and buckles. After some 20 years, the uppers were in great shape but the lowers were badly scuffed and scratched. Instead of buying new boots I had WESCO refurbish them and add a shift patch. (Not available before, the patch prevents the shift lever from discoloring the boot and leaving a deep impression.) The result looks great--like new boots. My boots provide maximum protection for road riders but as a result are heavy for hiking in. If you are one of the rare motorcyclists who ride to hike, you may want to carry separate hiking boots. WESCO custom fits the boots so they fit perfectly and leave room for an inner sole. Be warned that this small factory is overwhelmed with orders, especially since celebrity riders have discovered them; consequently it may take some time for custom boots to arrive after they have been ordered. Ordering can be done on the internet and through some stores. Be sure to the use the template WESCO provides and carefully follow its instructions in drawing around your feet to get a proper fit. read more

I bought custom Wesco boots in the packer style. They cost north of $600. It took near 5 months to get them from the time of my order. When I finally reciveved them the fit was too big, the stitching was sloppy and they laced much too close together. It's now a year and half down the road and the leather is falling apart. There are holes in the leather above both heals and it's not from abrasion. I sent my boots back complaining about the poor quality. I was told by Ray Kessinger at Wesco that I over oiled my boots with mink oil (I don't use mink oil on my boots) and that they were built correctly and they will do nothing for me. I'm really disapointed in Wesco. My last pair lasted me 15 years and I've had Whites last 10+ years. I don't understand why they are such poor quality now. I'll be buying Whites from now on. read more

I waited 6 years to order these boots for work because I just could not afford them. I finally gathered up the money. I followed the instructions to measure your foot and the height. I ordered my boots on 2/21/17. paid $735! The boots did not show up until June 5th. My 18 inch tall boots are 20 inches tall. I called customer service and they told me that they can vary an inch. They also said Oh we measure those boots differently than other boots. I returned the boots for repairs. They called me to say that it was going to cost me another $85 and that the repair was going delete the pull straps and make the finish on the top of the boot different. So he basically said I will pay more and the boot still won't be right. I can not believe that that is what I'm getting stuck with from what is supposed to be the best boots on the market today. Would not recommend. Yes I have bad my boots longer then 90 days but had only wore them about 10-12 times max only used when climbing. The toe of the sole came off and all they could say is it's out of the 90 day and you can send them in for 135 bucks we will fix it. I have been in the industry for 15 years and this is my first pair of wesco boots and will be my last. read more

I can't begin to say how deeply dissapointed I am in Wesco. I have been eagerly looking forward to my "custom built" shadows for FIVE MONTHS. I ordered them in September thru a dealer in San Francisco, where a rep for Wesco (VERY nice man, very professional) himself took my measurments and my order for customized colors. I specified an extra wide toe and narrow heel, the reason mass-produced boots never fit me. They came in December, and they were almost 3 sizes too small. They were an inch too short in the too, half an inch too narrow, and 3 inches too small around the calf. I called several times, but being the holidays it took over a week to get a call back, and another week to get the return slip. Went back to SF (a 100 mile round trip) to get re-measured and have the dealer send them back. Got the replacements a month later, and they are still WAY too small. The fit JUST LIKE the cheap Double-H boots I got almost 20 years ago vor $50- very tight in the toe, very loose in the ankle, and still 2 inches too narrow around the calf, plus the right boot is crooked, and looks twisted. "Just send it back and try again," you say, but the problem is thus- I bought these boots not only because my freaky-sized feet are hard to fit, but because I am getting married with an awesome Renn-faire themed celebration next month, and I already started working on my outfit- in burghandy leather chosen to match these specific boots. If they mess up again - no reason to think they wouldnt- then I would have no time left to find a replacement. In fact, in the five months Ive waited, and with the almost $1000 I spent on boots and gas, I couldve bought a Tipman boot machine and made my own darn boots. Now don't get me wrong- the workmanship overall is splendid, the boots are real pretty, and the leather is quality. But I can get all that for one-sixth the price from Ariat, or Justin, or the cobbler down the street in Hayward, CA. What I really needed, the whole purpose of splending so much money on footware, was to get a boot that FIT, that was not made from a standardized copy of some idealized female foot. I REALLY need a pair of boots that I can walk in. Workmanship was great, customer service was decent, and everyone is very nice, but all that has no value and no purpose whatsoever, because they got lazy. They compared my measurments to some standardized chart, decided I was "close enough" to their size 7.5, and built my boots on a form that was nowhere close to my actual size. Shame on you, Wesco. Now, to see if it becomes a hassle to get my money back. And yes, thanks to you, I have to go all bride-zilla. This makes me VERY unhappy. read more

I'm a lineman for at&t, and on my feet all day or on a utility pole and these are the best climbing boots available. I have the 14 inch lineman boots which run about $500 a pair plus tax and shipping if ordered online from the Wesco site. Since these go up to just below your knees, they are very protective and prevent scarring from the gaffes where they belt in. All my colleagues are super jealous when I walked into the office/yard with these on. They salivated with envy. LOL. read more

I wish I could rate them a negative 10! Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever experienced- bar none! Inquired about having a pair of boots resoled and received a sarcastic answer from some goof that was supposed to be in customer service. I would never order another pair of boots from this company again. Now I know why you really don't hear about them compared to Whites or Nicks; or even Danner for that matter. Even emailed the owner of the company, never even responded. Says a lot about this company! From the first week I had these boots and the laces broke and I emailed customer service about it, and they were horrible to now- poor experience. The experience I had with this company was horrible and left me feeling like I didn't have the right to order boots through such a prestigious company as this. I called and was told that to start with them they needed to send me a "fitment form" and so I gave them my address they sent it. I had my son measure my feet as directed and answered the questions at the bottom of the page I noticed that there was no order form in the packet? It had come with a video on the company that made me feel comforted in making the right choice in getting a well built boot. I called back a few days later just to verify that I did the measurements right and the guy said no problem not to worry that they would figure it out and if they had any questions they would call. So I went to their site and started filling out a order form there and my total was 633.00 I was very surprised because the boot I wanted is selling for 472.00 on their site and selling for 445.22 on Amazon , and 436.00 at another site with free shipping but I did ask for black stitching and to line the upper leg area also with leather , so I figured it looks like a good boot so maybe it's worth it? I go though the sides of these boots fast because I'm often sitting on the pavement working on bikes so it was still hard to justify so much for a pull on boot that I would wear out pretty fast but I went with it anyway. So I just figured they would have my order on file for when my " fitment form" showed up. The next day got an email saying that the extra stitching would be 40.00 more and did I have a fitment form on file? I replied no to the stitching and that I was sending it to them as I just got their packet a few days prior. I got another email back saying fine they would take the stitching off the order and again do I have a fitment form on file ? I said no I'm sending it and they would have it in the next couple of days. The next morning I had another email stating that it was going to cost another 100.00. because I don't have a fitment form on file but when I ordered my next pair they wouldn't charge me again, I got upset and cancelled my order. If they would have just been straight up from the beginning I would have committed but I felt that they were just adding and adding money to the cost. I can see the quality of the boot is really nice but it doesn't matter if the customer service sucks and no one wants to receive snappy and rude email's from anyone especially from a company that you just spent 700.00 with. I'm on my 3rd pair of custom Job Masters by Westco. They fit like a glove. Tough as nails. In 8.5 years these have been rebuilt twice, resoled 3 times. I have a narrow foot (B) and the custom fit is the only way to go. The quality of their boots and their customer service will keep you a life long customer. read more

What a disappointment! I guess Wesco can't make boots that fit me. A $150 pair of off the shelf Ariats fit me better than $600 custom Wesco's. My toes were jammed against the inside front of the boots, I know that ain't right. They should be able to measure and build boots to fit a chimpanzee! I wound up refusing them from the dealer from whom I ordered them , so at least I didn't lose my money. I don't think custom "bespoke" boots are a dying art, I think they're a dead art. i had custom fit boots made. Two pairs to be exact, summer and winter pair totaling 1000$. Summer boots's sole fell off from toe to heel during a storm and had to go back to shop and get my trusty danners. Contacted ole wesco and explained the problem and they wanted to charge me for remanufacturer charge. Think not they were only worn 6 months old. They are kept now for anyone thinking about buying a 500$ boot to inspect. Didnt wear winter boots on principal until i was in between boots and my boot allowance and was putting on and loop on back broke while putting on. Now have two pair of high dollar boots on display in my shop. Wesco supposedly has union employees but whoever handcrafted my boots was not skilled. Wesco has no customer service and are too expensive for throw away boots read more

I tried to order a pair of "Motor Patrol" boots from this company. Let me start by saying that I am hard to fit for such boots because I have very wide feet and large calfs. That being said I thought this place would be perfect because they advertise that they custom make boots to your measurements. These are very expensive boots over $750.00. Therefore, I realized that I did not want to be the one responsible for taking the correct measurements, so I traveled to their store and paid them $100.00 to take my measurements and build the boots. It took 5 months to get the boots. When I got them, they were way too big. I was literally able to kick the boots off of my feet and they were made with the wrong toe style. I promptly returned the boots to be re-made. They returned the boots two months later and the footbeds were so small that I could not get my feet into them. I returned them again. and four months later, received a third pair. The footbeds were still too tight but at least I was able to squeeze into it but they had made the tops 1.5 inches smaller and now they wouldn't fit over pants. When I called to complain, they got very nasty with me and refused to fix the problem or issue a refund. Luckily, I was able to get a chargeback thru my credit card company for all but $100.00 It is a shame that they could not get it right because the quality of the leather was awesome. Just beware if you order from them you are not getting custom made boots you are getting close to custom made boots that were made for someone else and that they tried to change the sizing to fit your foot. For that kind of money and hassle, you should be getting custom made boots but you are not and they are not nice people to deal with and do not admit to their mistakes. read more

When I didn't hear anything I contacted them and they said it will be at least two more weeks. They were not willing to make any concessions for this and I am very disappointed. read more

I have a pair of Wescos and a pair of Whites. I prefer the Whites because the Wescos have a less comfortable arch for my foot and the leather doesn't have as much give to it. Not to say that the Wescos aren't outstanding. read more
