I had the most amazing piece of…read morespumoni cake - a discovery picnic of a dessert with 3 distinct layers of 1) pistachio cake/salted caramel frosting 2) chocolate cake/a marshmallowy vanilla frosting, and 3) pistachio/cherry frosting and then salted caramel/pistachio cake.* . I ordered that and 1 extra raspberry shortbread jam cookie. It was my first time to Pure Bliss and I'm pretty sure I've never paid $9.95 for a slice of cake in my life - French patisseries included. However. This was 3 slices of dense, buttery, baked heaven - the store is aptly named. I was literally ENCHANTED by its delicateness working so immaculately with the bold yet fully realized flavors. The staff were extra kind and threw in an extra cookie gratis since I had declared 1) it was my first Pure Bliss visit, and 2) it was my 1/2 birthday. Thank you to the owner. One has no greater joy in life, I think, than bringing happiness to others. Mission accomplished. Thank you to the baker. Wow again. This was 3 cakes in one and, while I've been working on my glutton chip, you broke my panel. I could NOT convince myself to parse the slice into 3 servings. Something I could easily have done if I had restraint, wasn't so starved for magic midst an oasis of mediocrity (or unpredictability). ...and also hadn't taken an edible before starting in. And, thank you to the staff. I chose that day to mark a line in the sand for not tipping people who "simply" bring me my item. I was wrong. Dead wrong. Your graciousness, professionalism and sheer kindness were worth a tip that should have equalled the price of the free 2nd cookie gift. I will absolutely be tipping you next time. Pure Bliss will hands down be a monthly treat as long as I dwell in Bellingham. Thank you for restoring some of my faith in humanity. No easy feat with a slice of cake but you did it. Well done. *Apologies to all, I got this September's end. But I am such a fan I think I must advocate for this cake to have a regular menu spot. And I'm not even normally a chocolate cake girl! The contrast just works though and I loved the chocolaty goodness the way Pure Bliss did it.

Pure Bliss has a WIDE selection of gluten free, and a vegan section. Yes, there is also an overlap with some items that are both. I was super impressed with how vast the selections for both were. It is CUTE in here! Feels like a modern Parisian bakery. There were plenty of people sitting and enjoying their desserts with a glass of bubbly. It felt like I stepped into a whole new world. The women working were DOLLS! So sweet. I could tell they had the ordering counter down to a science and were super efficient while still being friendly and spending time with each customer. The gluten free carrot cake was decadent and flavorful. The creme brule was lovely. The caramel bar (not gluten free) was reported to be quite good as well. I can't wait to come back!

My wife and I have recently started going here for all the little sweet treats they have and we have never been disappointed. Whenever we walk in we are always greeted with friendly smiles and great customer service. The cake turned out absolutely perfect and the decorator did an amazing job. Usually when a cake looks this beautiful it doesn't taste that great, but this was not the case! The cake was both visually pleasing and also very delicious. My one criticism I have would be the email communication. When I first ordered the cake via their website I received an email back that made me feel like I was inconveniencing them, and most emails after I got the same vibe. In the end everything worked out and my wife was head over heels for the cake which was the most important thing. I will definitely still be recommending this bakery to anyone who wants a delicious and professionally decorated cake for any occasion, or to anyone looking for a nice dessert.

This following paragraph does not change that. I am pretty disappointed when I ordered the BLT advertised as served on house made Focaccia. And honestly the combo makes the $21 price tag worth it. But the BLT was not served on focaccia, instead a standard bread. Yet we received no heads up. Again, it was great but why was there no disclaimer? Definitely would not have ordered it had there been transparency because it doesn't feel worth it. Drinks: standard cocktails but really good. Definitely worth a try. Service: they were pretty packed but everyone that tended to us was really sweet. Ambiance: very standard Bellingham small shop vibe.

There were about 4-5 of them, all working on something, and it was nice to see a properly staffed place where each person was contributing without it feeling too stressful/busy. There are a lot of cute touches- free stickers, a dinosaur vending machine, local art. It was a joy to walk in the door and wait for my meal. The waffle was amazing. How I heard of this place: On a visit to Bellingham a couple of years ago, my sister and mother…read moretold us about this new Turkish cafe downtown with sweet reminiscences of our visits to Turkey. We simply had to give it a try. And continue coming back. Type of cuisine: Turkish fare - from simit and borek, to cardamom or pistachio infused Turkish coffee, apricot and apple teas, baklava and lokum. We have always loved the foods, mostly imported directly from Turkey. Ambiance: Sweet and cozy, the space is full of beautiful Turkish art/craft - from lighting to seating, from merchandise to the tasty treats served, we love our bay window benches and small, tiled tables that barely hold everything we order. The brother-owners are always wreathed in smiles and humble, grateful service. The music is soft, but always a surprise - sometimes Turkish, sometimes rock, sometimes jazzy, always fun and unobtrusive. We also love the huge barrel "tables" used as outdoor seating under a covered "patio". What I ordered: I was sad to hear that they no longer make/serve their refreshing and lovely apricot tea, so I chose a sweet cardamom coffee. My sister each chose a turkish coffee and pistachio coffee. A hot chocolate for my husband and two apple teas for the children. We ordered one of each selection of baklava available - pistachio, walnut, chocolate pistachio, halva and another walnut treat. Not to mention peach and blackberry lokum. We also ordered a potato & cheese sandwich; they ran out of the bread so substituted potato borek topped with cheese for our savory snack. What I loved: Always the service; quiet, humble, spot on. The coffee is truly magnificent and fully takes you back to Turkey. The baklava is sweet and soaked in honey, just like the cafes in Istanbul, and the beautiful lighting mesmerizes each of us every time. Why I loved it: It's always a little escape entering the doors of Ashuri, and like a mini vacation in a home away from home. Cost: Average
