The previous reviews are defintitely accurate with their wait times. If you don't want to read this long post then here's a short version. Stay far away from this dentist and this practice. It's not good. I've had good dentists, ok dentists, and bad dentists. This is a bad office. Warning to anyone looking. Stay clear of this place. -- I scheduled an appointment by calling the number on their information page that pulls up from Apple Maps. I talked with an individual that schedule my appointment for the next day at 8:45am. They asked for my insurance and my insurance ID which I gave to them and they verified. I then received an AI call a few hours later confirming my appointment which I confirmed. Then I get another call from the actual office at around 4pm saying they need my insurance and can't verify it. I was unable to call back in time and they closed at 5pm. I show up at 8:35am for my appointment the following day. I try to check in at the self check in. Check in says no appointment for patient. I let receptionist know. They said they can't verify my insurance and tried to call me. I explain that when I originally scheduled the appointment over phone they verified my insurance. Receptionist says that when I called the call is routed to a call center and they shouldn't verify insurance. She says that we will need to reschedule the appointment so she can verify insurance. Two days later I show up for my new scheduled appointment. My appointment was at 8:30am. I get there at 8:25am to check in and fill out paperwork. At 8:33am the paperwork and check in is completed. At 8:50am the receptionist says they are still trying to verify insurance. At 9am I'm still waiting and I notice a lot of staff coming in? Now I'm thinking why is my appointment at 8:30 and the staff is walking in at 9am. At 9:10am I get called back for my X-Ray. At 9:20am I get taken back to a room for my cleaning and to look over my teeth. Dentist comes in to check teeth. Says gums look good but I have 6 cavities. I'm a bit shocked. My last dentist I saw 6 months ago said I have no cavities. Now I have 6?! I explain that I'm looking for new dentist because I moved and not in same area anymore. I said with all my old dentists they probe with a metal tool to see if my cavity is actually a cavity and if it's a cavity then it should be sticky when they probe. Some other dentist use an electric probe to determine cavities. The dentist used neither and said she knows by looking at my teeth and she's see dark spots in the crevice of my teeth. ... I drink tea and tea does stain teeth. She said I should get them taken care of but it's my choice. I declined because honestly thats more than a little suspicious.. The usual process when I would go to a dentist for the past 35 years was X-Ray, then teeth cleaning with hygienist, then dentist evaluates gums and teeth for cavities. This office is doing things very different and it's pretty alarming overall since out of 35 years of going to different dentists this is the only office that is practices this way. The dentist leaves and now a different lady in the room says she will need to ask if I can get my cleaning done. I don't understand so I ask if this appointment was only for X-Ray and to look over my teeth. She confirms and says there isn't a hygienist on site to clean and it's up the dentist to clean if she has time. I'm shocked that all this is actually happening right now. Now the dentist (not the hygienist) will have to clean my teeth if she's available and there is time?? If the dentist wasn't available I would have to make another appointment again. Unbelievable. Well the dentist was available but I didn't feel comfortable with her cleaning my teeth since she just said I had 6 cavities by just looking at my teeth and not actually probing. Secondly I didn't feel comfortable since I have never had a dentist check my gums so roughly. The cherry on the top is that I have an insurance and yet they still try to charge me. My insurance is a PPO and on the insurance website it lists this dentist, West Coast Dental, as in-network and 100% covered for X-Ray and preventative care which includes cleaning. The lady at the office informs me that before the cleaning starts I will have a $50 deductible for the cleaning itself. I said I'm in-network this should be covered 100%. She says no I have a deductible. I declined my cleaning and left. I immediately called my insurance to clarify my coverage and they said no they should NOT charge you a deductible for cleaning. This office is committing fraud by charging a deductible that falls under insurance for preventative care and I can't even imagine how many times they have done this to others. I'm reporting them to my insurance company and I hope this office gets flagged for illegal billing practices. My old dentist is over an hour away. At this point I'll drive the hour just so I don't have to deal with offices like this ever again. read more

I have been a patient at this office for some time and have experienced the same problems repeatedly, with no improvement. Every single appointment, I wait at least an hour in the lobby before being called back, despite arriving on time or early. What makes this worse is watching other patients, who arrived after me and had later appointment times, be called back before me. There is no explanation offered and no apology. The office has never once asked me to update my health history. I never experienced this at other dental offices, and it created a serious problem when I was pregnant. The staff only became aware of my pregnancy because they were eavesdropping on a private conversation I was having with another patient in the lobby. I had already consulted my doctor before the appointment, and they confirmed I was fine to be seen since I was not getting x-rays. Despite this, after I waited an hour and a half in the lobby, the office told me they could not see me without a doctor's note, even for a standard cleaning. I called my doctor afterward to request the note and explained the situation. They said a note was not necessary for a routine cleaning and that they had never been asked for one in that context before. This entire situation could have been avoided if the office simply collected updated health history like every other dental practice does, rather than relying on overheard conversations to learn about their patients. At a more recent appointment scheduled for x-rays and a cleaning, I waited over an hour in the lobby, completed my x-rays, then waited an additional 30 minutes in the treatment room before being told the doctor was over 40 minutes behind. I was told I would need to reschedule my cleaning. I rescheduled. At the rescheduled appointment, I again waited over an hour in the lobby. Once called back, I waited another 30 minutes to be seen by the dentist, whose evaluation took under three minutes. I asked two different staff members for a status update during that wait. After the dentist told me a hygienist would be right in, I waited an additional 15 minutes before asking again. The hygienist who finally came was visibly rushed, openly acknowledged they were behind, and skipped steps during my cleaning. I have now spent well over two hours at appointments where less than 20 minutes of actual care was provided. This is a pattern, not an occasional bad day. I do not recommend this office. read more

I had to return to the office for follow-up visits, including one because I was experiencing an unexpected muscle spasm that had not resolved following a procedure performed at an earlier appointment. It was during this follow-up visit that I had an especially disappointing experience. What stood out most during this visit was my interaction with the front desk employee wearing glasses, who at one point emphasized that she had 10 years of experience in the industry. She questioned why I had scheduled my appointment during the staff's lunch hour and spoke to me in a way that I felt was unnecessarily confrontational. What made this particularly frustrating was that I did not choose that time knowing it was their lunch hour--it was an appointment time offered to me over the phone. More importantly, I was not simply returning for a routine appointment. I was there to be evaluated because I was experiencing an unexpected muscle spasm following a previous procedure at their office. Instead of showing concern or simply listening to why I was there, her attitude made me feel as though I was an inconvenience and somehow at fault for being scheduled during their lunch hour. For someone who specifically pointed out having 10 years of experience, I was surprised by the lack of basic courtesy and consideration shown during this interaction. Experience in a public-facing healthcare position should include knowing how to communicate with patients respectfully, particularly when they are returning because of an issue following treatment. Her interaction with me had a significant impact on how I viewed the office overall and is one of the main reasons my experience as a new patient was so disappointing. I also want to echo what several other reviewers have mentioned regarding wait times. During two of my visits, I experienced significant waits despite having scheduled appointments, including a wait of well over an hour. I understand that medical and dental offices can fall behind and that unexpected circumstances happen, but when lengthy waits become a repeated experience, it becomes difficult to overlook. There also needs to be consideration for patients who have to request time off from work in order to attend these appointments. When someone schedules an appointment for a specific time, they are often arranging their workday and other responsibilities around it. Consistently making patients wait an hour or more can mean additional time away from work that they did not plan for or expect. I believe patients' time should be treated with the same consideration that the office expects patients to give to their scheduled appointment times. read more

I have been a patient of west coast dental for the past year. I went in with different urgent issues, which were immediately addressed, and have been properly taken care of since. I've had two root canals by dr Ali, and I couldn't have been happier with how painless and comfortable the whole process has been. Dr Ali's assistant Lu has been nothing short of helpful and caring. I have never felt more comfortable in a dentist chair in my life. The whole establishment is very professional, extremely caring, welcoming and treats you like family. Zero stars. Spent two hours there last week for a cleaning/exam (dentist told me "we all have things to do" yeah no crap, that's why we make appointments! Had two chipped teeth so they filled them same day - would have came back another day if they didn't have time. Came home, filling on one tooth came out that night. Called to make an appt to get it fixed and was given an 8am appt for Friday which was perfect as it was a holiday and I didn't have to miss work. I showed up 5 mins early, before half the staff even arrived, and waited 25 mins which is fine... only to have the staff confused about who did my filling in the first place and then was told they made the appt wrong and I can't be seen. Was offered the opportunity to come back at 1:00 or wait hours. As I told the office manager, I'm done with this staff. First time we were there there was a similar issue with not having the correct appointment type and I had to come back for the cleaning but I gave them the benefit of the doubt but when it is the norm I have to value my time more. Oh and side note, at my exam last week the female dentist didn't even notice the broken tooth in the center front of my mouth and I had to point it out to the manager and when I asked to get it fixed the dentist was confused about why that tooth was more bothersome than the other - the tooth was broken in half! I have been coming here for about 2 years now but it's finally time to go. My family and I are constantly showing up for scheduled appointments. And when we get there they either don't have us down or they say they booked us on accident. If it was an accident or they didn't have us down for appointments then why do I receive 100 reminders about my appointment. I would have let it go if it was one time or maybe even 2 times. 'm really disappointed with my experience at this dental office. My appointment was scheduled for 12:30, and I arrived 15 minutes early to be on time. By 12:45, I still hadn't been called back, so I had to ask the front desk what was going on. Only then was I taken to the back. I was told they were still "setting up the room," but after being taken back, I waited another 20 minutes before anything happened. The lack of communication and organization felt very unprofessional. I understand that delays can happen, but no one kept me informed or apologized for the wait. Terrible customer service. They lack integrity. They give false insurance coverage information and when I found myself stuck with a bill from their office I found out they scheduled me with an "out of network dentist " at their office. This office failed to enroll properly through Delta Dental, leaving me to figure out their discrepancy that led to me being billed out of pocket due to their ignorance and them refusing to make things right. I was forced to do the leg work with insurance multiple times and therefore my family and I are done with this unprofessional office. Additionally, they scheduled my for deep cleaning and spread the cleaning over 3 visits, I can only assume it's due to some sort of insurance scheme to get more money out of them and I. In the process of my cleaning, the scraping Pick was broken in my mouth and lodged in my gums. This office is truly unprofessional, disrespectful cutting me off mid sentence when I was explaining my situation over the phone, and they lack quality customer service making it very obvious all they care about is money and not the people. This place is horrible. Front staff are unprofessional. They are also talking about other patients nothing like hippa violations but talking crap about them. The wait time are ridiculous they always over book. Never do they communicate with you of the wait time even when you have an appointment. My appointment was at 830am wasn't called until 947am. They place me on a "waitlist" for a appointment. I called a month later they told they dont have wait list just "notes". My daughter was suppose to have her brace removed in August the dental assistant said they forgot to schedule the molding appointment. Avoid this place it's horrible. read more

A wonderful first time experience that kept going downhill. Was having pain and was able to get a same day appt right away. No wait time, went straight back and got to work. A 3 appt cleaning disaster. Not sure how often cleanings that take less than 30 minutes are divided into 3 appts. I was in pain with every needle stick and the hygienist did a poor job of numbing me. Never again! They'll charge you for every visit despite having insurance and waste your day waiting. My dentist was great but the hygienist left me in pain and charged for any and everything. I recommend finding another place that's upfront, gentle and doesn't waste your time. read more

The dental staff is great! Dr. M. is a great dentist and communicator and Tricia is an awesome and thorough hygienist. The office staff needs to learn from the dentists and hygienists...they have poor communication skills. I had a 9am schedule appointment yesterday with Tricia and because they overbook, my appointment got bumped to almost 10am. I understand time us money, but patients have schedules and lives, too. When I mentioned this to the receptionist and how I'd probably get charged a late fee or would be reschedule, she said they don't do that. I then said maybe we, the patients should with you. Other patients in the waiting room agreed. If you schedule patients, honor their appointment times first and be respectful. read more

My first appointment was at 2pm- after waiting an hour I decided to leave. The receptionist called to reschedule - my second appointment was at 8am - after waiting 35 minutes I left. Durning my extended wait at both appointments I could hear staff make numerous phone calls on speaker phone to confirm patient insurance coverage/information. This is a huge privacy violation as I overheard patient's full name, date of birth and policy information. Terrible experience - I will not be returning to any West Coast Dental offices. read more

I Was always nervous when it came to visiting the dentist. Past experiences have been overwhelming and horrible. BUT this location opened up 10 minutes from our home and I was in need of emergency dental care. The dental office is clean and pleasant. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. What knocked this out of the park for me was the quality care from the dental assistants and Dr Modera. The Dr was very thorough explaining treatment plan and recommendations, and periodically checked in on how I'm doing while treatment was being performed. Was really nervous going in to get my cavity's filled but Dr.Modares was very gentle kind and reassuring that everything would be fine. The staff was also very kind and reassuring as well. Usually when I get my cavity's filled i blow up like a chipmunk from how numb i am but at this office i didn't have that experience here. Had a wonderful first experience with two of my three children. Wait times were not bad, staff was friendly, dentist was attentive. THEN my son's appointment came the next day. Waited 40 minutes to be seen for the appointment. Took his X-rays and did his check up and then told us there was no time to do his cleaning and we would have to return. During his exam, the dentist told us he would need some fillings taken care of but they wouldn't do them for us because he would need a pediatric dentist and their pediatric dentist doesn't accept our insurance even though the primary dentist does. I left confused and called my insurance. They informed me that over the age of 7, a pediatric dentist is not required. My son is 11. The insurance rep calls this office to clarify and they tell my insurance that my son was not cooperative and that is why they will not fill his cavities. I explain to the insurance that this is not true and that he wasn't able to have his cleaning done because they told us they didn't have time. Finally insurance says they have it handled and the office schedules us his appointment the following month. I confirmed FOUR TIMES that the cleaning and filling will be done at this appointment. When we went today, they did his cleaning and sealants and then told us that's all they would do because only a pediatric dentist can fill his fillings. This time they gave the excuse that their dentist doesn't know how to do children's fillings even though they worked on my 8 year old daughters and multiple other children that had appointments while we were there. HIGHLY disappointed in the staff and the lying. STAY FAR AWAY from this dental office. read more
