On June 15 I bought purchased a Chev Diesel Truck from West coast.
The night of the signing I had noticed the engine light was on. I was
going to note this on the as is document. They wouldn't let me or my
son see the computer they used to bring up the code at that time.
Larry told me when I was going to make note of this on the document to,
"Don't worry Bear, It's probably something simple we will take care of
this."
I drove it home that evening. The next day I drove it to work. As I
went out to show off my new purchase to my friends, we notice that
something was leaking from every crevice where the engine was. I took
it back immediately and talked to Frank. ( he sold me the truck. ) "
He is off for the next two days. I told him then I wanted them to
either fix the truck, get me in another truck , or give me my "Piece of
C...truck as they called it back to me. He came out and looked at it
and told me "Don't worry about it Barry, we will take care of it for
you. "However you will have to come back in two days to see Larry."
I went home and thought immediately to check the oil, of which I did.
I couldn't even see it register on the dipstick and I notice there was
low oil pressure. ( they assured me these things run lower oil
pressure. However I did see moisture....diesels oil normally shows
darker than regular. I decided to drain the oil so I would know
exactly how much was in the engine. I looked up how much oil a duramax
held. 10 qt's. I drained out 15. Wella, I thought. I drove the
truck for the next two days. I called Larry and told him I thought I
had found the problem. I thought they had simply filled the truck up
with too much oil. A few days later I was driving it a considerable
distance from home, the oil pressure light came on. I again checked
the oil and once again I couldn't see oil on the dipstick. Just
moisture. I immediately pulled into a parts store and added some STP,
as I now could smell diesel oil, and suspected a Fuel leak.
I called Larry again. I was told they needed to get funded from the
bank before they could do anything. That I needed to take my proof of
insurance to them. I did this. The next day I called Larry
again.....I was told he needed to talk to Matt. To call him back in
again two days as he was on vacation. I came back to see them again in
two days. Matt was in but too busy to talk and Larry hadn't had a
chance to talk to Matt about the problem. He then told me, Take the
$500 dollars you owe us for the down and go get it fixed. I told him,
"You don't understand." I think it has a bad injector and they alone
are $480 a piece." He again assured me they would talk it over and
maybe help me out.
Make a long story short I went back in and called may times the next
month and a half. Their whole demeanor changed when they found out How
much it would cost to fix. It alone took 13 hours of labor to install
a single injector. And they suggest to replace all of them if you got
into the motor that far.
I don't have the dates on hand right now, However I keep a log. They
kept I felt, running me around the block over and over again. I kept
calling...they seemed not to be taking my calls. About a month into
this saga, I went in and caught Larry. Oddly enough he said they had
been so slammed he hadn't had a chance to talk to Matt yet. I again
asked if Matt was in, and again he was too busy to see me. Larry told
me to wait in the finance office and he would talk to Matt of which he
did. He had been telling me this four or five times now.......I got up
and walked to Matt's office dor. The dor was half open and they were
whispering. I thought then I was in trouble. Larry escorted me out
side and said Matt wasn't in the best of moods as he was having a bad
day. Larry said he would talk to Matt's dad that night. I asked him
then who was really the owner Matt or the old man. I was told again
to come back in two more days....and to go get the truck to a shop and
see what it would take to fix it. I did. I came back in again two
days later and talked to Frank. Asked for Matt. I was told he wasn't
in. (He was....his bike was there.) At this time Frank boldly
explained that he knew what Matt was going to say to me. That I bought
the Truck, " Where is, how is, and as is? I said calmly I mind you.
Are you kidding me? "I have been in here about 8 times, a month and a
half now only to get the run around and you are telling me this?" "I
was in here and brought the truck back the very next night of purchase!"
To make a long story short. The repair bill was est. 6-8K. They got my down Pym't, funded by the bank, My truck, (same year and model of truck only not diesel). and I got a voluntary repo. and nothing. They are openly nice people. But I got jobbed with a truck that they knew was bad. They couldn't help but know it!!! read more
