After our initial visit we purchased a Silver Family Membership here, which is a great value if you are shooting with any regularity at all; and we love visiting the range and the Pro Shop! All of the employees have knowledge they are willing to share. Every time we leave, we remark to each other about how nice and helpful the person we just dealt with was. There are classes available, but even if we are at the range working by ourselves, they have never failed to help and/or answer any questions we may have. When we make purchases, whether it is ammo, equipment, or a new firearm, we are always able to consult and get input to help us make a decision, and we have NEVER been pressured by anyone. read more

Based on a previous review the fact that the "teachers" ask women on dates is concerning and unprofessional. I used to consider West Coast Armory my local gun store of choice after moving to Washington last May. I've shot here with friends and family around seven times total and my last visit I thought would be the same normal experience I get with the staff there. Now don't get me wrong there's two ladies and a bigger gentleman that work in the range that absolutely rock and they've helped me nearly every time I've been there, however on my last visit to the range I was 'helped' by a lanky staff member with a scraggly beard and a hat. Immediately this guy was upset by some last interaction he had or something because I said hello and let him know I was there to shoot with some of my buddies. It was a Saturday afternoon so it was a bit crowded but nothing other than normal traffic. He looked around the range's lanes and explained that most of the lanes were full. I said I was okay with waiting and he let me know that the lanes with rifle are open if I wanted to shoot handgun there. I again, told him I was okay with that. He then proceeded to ask me my name to look up my membership which I gave him. He told me that my membership seemed to have expired last year which I knew couldn't be right since I took my girlfriend shooting there in July of 2021. I asked him if there might be another phone number or account he could look up since I've shot within the last year at the range. He then tersely and rudely repeated my name back to me and told me, "that's you right?" Immediately I was put off by the rest of the interaction. No longer was I being helped by the West Coast Armory that helped me in the past and was extremely helpful. I don't know how this guy got hired because his customer service skills were non-existent. I let him know that yes that's my name and I would be okay with paying a membership because its my indoor range of choice. He then asked if I was military and I let him know that I was. He asked to see my military ID and handed it back to me. He then muttered under his breath "that explains that." and started inputting something on his computer. He let me know that my friends should do the waiver on the computers to the right and I let him know I was going to go get them so that they could get the process started. I get two of my friends started on the waiver and let him know I'll be back with a third who was looking at ammo in the shop. This is the part where I decided this place needs a one star review based on the actions of this employee. The staff member exclaims at me, in an annoyed tone, "It's only three people to a lane, somebody is going to need a membership." I was already okay with getting a membership but there was no way I was going to purchase one after a grown man can't hold his composure at a simple customer service interaction. I picked up my case and walked over to my friends and let them know we weren't going to shoot at this range and we were going to head out and I'll tell them the story in the car. That's where the bad ends. I picked up 100 rounds of federal 9mm and checked out by another gentleman with poor customer service skills however he was efficient with the transaction but didn't say anything other than my total. After I checked out, my last friend that was looking at ammo was being helped by a tall gentleman with a (goatee?) beard, cap, sunglasses on the cap, and a mug of coffee that worked in the gun shop section of the store. He was extremely nice and interested in what my friend had to say and was involved in a conversation about 5.45. After the conversation concluded he wished us a great day and we left. I don't usually write one star reviews, I'm sure all my other reviews are on places that were really outstanding in their service. I've been coming here as a member for almost a year now and based on my experience, I love coming here. The staff members are knowledgeable and are always attentive to my questions and concerns. Range is a clean set up with currently 2 shooting bays set up and I think they're working on getting a 3rd shooting bay set up at the moment. For awhile they didn't have the heating system up in the shooting bays so it was really cold at one point, but they've fixed that problem and the temperature in the range is perfectly fine. The options between the membership types are great in my opinion because the options caters to people that go to the range to shoot almost every week to those people that shoot once every month or so. Also the selection of firearms you can rent to shoot is great if your wanting to try out something new. The shop has just as great as service as well. Bought a Ruger SR-22 here and the staff really helped me in my process. Robert, who is usually always there when I come in, is a great guy who has on numerous times answered my questions and taught me a lot of things I didn't know. Apparently there is a shortage of guns and ammo at the moment due to covid apocalypse and ongoing political strife. Went in tonight with my family. My wife knew very little about guns and was a bit nervous about going in but one we got in, we were amazingly impressed with the friendliness and customer service. It started with Dustin in the retail part of the store breaking everything down in a completely comfortable and friendly manner and ended to the people that helped us rent the guns and give us even more friendly advice. Shop only review. Went in to check out the selection and think about purchasing. I was fortunate to be assisted by Linney and she was fantastic. I'm new and have only shot a few different handguns. We talked about some different options, and she gave pros and cons to each and had me hold them all to get a sense of them. Very helpful even though it was pretty clear I wouldn't be making a purchase that day. Prices seemed reasonable. The other staff was attentive and really to help but gave me space. Hadn't been here in a while and just wanted to update my review. I have a "Silver Membership" here and highly recommend it anyone serious about their recreational shooting. Today I brought my Tavor in for some range time. (Should note that this Tavor was purchased from their own Pro Shop about two years ago.) The reason I wanted to update my review is to share the experience I had when my Tavor malfunctioned. Everything was going great--my Tavor had gone through ~170 rounds of 5.56 75gr Hornady Supermatch BTHP--when to my surprise it malfunctioned. And in a big way. A live round got jammed in the action and refused to cycle out. When my attempts to remove the cartridge failed I immediately went to the front desk where two different gentlemen followed me back to my lane and tried their best to dislodge the round. But alas, my bullpup would not yield. So why am I compelled to update my review? Simple, two words: Customer...Service. Both gentlemen addressed me as either sir or Mr. Abraham. Not once did they hint that the malfunction was in any way my fault nor did they treat me in a condescending manner. (Anyone who has ever been to a range before knows the kind of 'elitists club' patronization I am talking about.) And both gentlemen were genuinely concerned for not only my safety but for the condition of my rifle. They recommended to me a smith within my area whom could take care of the problem. Even gave me their business card. Were this simply an empty cartridge I would've broken down the rifle myself but I am fairly certain that the round that is still in there now is a live one as I'm pretty sure I saw the previous case eject cleanly. Really, it's people--people make or brake a business. And if the people at West Coast Armory North are any indication of the kind of business they conduct then they have a long successful future ahead of themselves. Don't buy a gun here. I came here last month to buy a handgun and two weeks later I came back to pick up my handgun. I have been told someone has sent my background check up to wrong place and I have to wait another 2 weeks. Two weeks later when I came back they said the paper is already expired and now I have to wait for another 2 weeks. They don't even say sorry to me. As a result, I ended return it and never come back. My grandpa and friends are planning to come here and buy gun but after this issue we never come here again. They had 2 young punks that loved to hear their own voice and the head range master was kinda a doosh. But not West Coast. They really surprised me on their selection of guns and accessories. Really surprised me. Like as in: They had more glocks in stock than Cabellas. All the common ammos too. And pretty good prices. I've yet to try the range but if it's better than when it was Sams then it's gotta be good. By the way, if you wanna go shoot without the annoyance of a range master.... I visit this area occasionally and enjoy practice sessions as often as opportunity permits. Ownership and management has changed at this location since my last visit, but I was pleased to stop in with my son (24) and my brother-in-law. This is a membership-based facility, and I was the guest of a member. Business was brisk (a Saturday) but, having checked in, we were assigned to Target #18 and prepared for a brief but productive practice session. Range rules are sensible and safety-oriented. Our afternoon went well. The adjacent retail shop seems well stocked and prices on firearms I prefer were well or appropriately priced. A great variety of equipment is available to rent or try, using the range's ammunition, for those who are undecided about a purchase. There are other ranges at which we can practice, and one (Norpoint) in Arlington proved a disappointment; this range proved a significant improvement, and I have no doubt it will do well. The range offers classes for men and women interested in learning and polishing their skills, and I would recommend them. This range has a Ladies Day (Thursday), and the last Thursday evening of the month is Ladies Night. There is a Women's Shooting League. If you live in this area or visit frequently and want a place to practice, I recommend this site. read more

Mixed bag for this place ... Employees are respectful, even friendly. No particular problems there. I went in to get some reps drawing from concealment. Range requires draw stroke be reviewed by someone, presumably RSO. I've taken several classes over the years, and have quite a few practice hours. I'm rusty, but I have a draw stroke I've developed by culling what I think is best practice from the instruction I've gotten and seen. RSO starts by asking who taught me my draw stroke (several people, and irrelevant), proceeds to show me how "they" do it. OK, I can stand through this as a review, but ... ... it turns into a prerequisite for being allowed to practice draw from holster on the range. RSO watches me draw a few times, gives me some unsolicited instruction, then says "Practice a little more, then come back and try again." I'm here to practice my technique, not throw it away and, in this case, go back to something I deliberately moved away from. The only proper concern for the RSO is my safety, not whether I comply with his flavor of the day opinions about technique. I am safe. I do not sweep to my left or right on draw, and I do not sweep my own front hand while establishing grip. My finger is off the trigger until I'm on target. I've been drawing this way in safety oriented ranges and classes alike for the past 12 years. It's an overreaching, arrogant mis-characterization of my technique to call it unsafe. Unfortunately, this kind of nonsense is an absolute disqualifier for me, which is a shame, since the range and shop are not bad otherwise. read more

I've never experienced something like this before but I want to say that me and my dad will never come here again. Today we walked in with my cousin. We filled out our information on the computer and then they asked my cousin for his ID and took his picture. Everything was fine until he asked him if he speaks English. I translated for my cousin and the MANAGER said "you can't help him." And I said okay. He asked him again and I still translated for him but this time he gave me attitude and said the same exact thing. Then he asked him again and I said nothing, I stayed quiet. My cousin didn't know how to speak English so he was quiet and said "I don't know." After that he said my cousin couldn't go in because he doesn't speak English in case of an emergency. Then I started going off on him because how are you about to not let someone in because they don't speak English. Me and my dad could've clearly translated it to him in Spanish. Then my dad said to forget about it and that he wanted his money back. My dad specifically payed $350 for a family membership and they only gave my dad $100 back. My dad once brought in my uncle with him and he didn't know English and they still let him in. I don't understand how it's a problem now that we brought my cousin in. You guys should have someone working there that speaks Spanish so they can translate to people who come in that don't speak English. Me and my dad will never come here again. The manager should've put himself in my cousins shoes. What if you couldn't speak English. You'd feel pretty upset that someone doesn't let you in for not knowing how to speak a certain language. I'm a relatively new shooter and handgun owner and I've enjoyed my interactions with the folks at WCA. They're not pushy on the sales side, but they're not too standoff-ish and I don't get that "why are you wasting my time" vibe that I actually get at some other places. Yes I'm new to this, but I'm not stupid. Their lanes and rental setup are good and I've really appreciated the scrutiny and support they've provided me as a learner in what could be a dangerous setting if not specifically controlled. As for anyone feeling "monitored" while shooting - my take is that they are renting their private property for me to discharge a weapon at - they have every right to dictate my behavior to ensure my safety and that of the others present. The only knock I have on the lanes is the temperature. I was in a few times through the summer and fall so I didn't notice any problems but went in just yesterday and cold air was blowing on my head when in lane position - distracting and uncomfortable. I read prior reviews about this having been fixed; I know ventilation is important but would love to experience a bit less arctic when shooting. Overall these folks are engaging, competent and non-patronizing, makes it easy to drop in to browse, purchase or practice. read more

Went in there today to see what ammunition was available. Just about 11am. Found a few boxes of calibers that I was looking to pick up. Great! Found some! Then I got in line..... Only one person with a box sale in front of me. In my view 7 customers in the store, 2 people together, 6 sales people on the floor. 2 box sales of ammo/other not firearms. 11:15am 6 customers, 6 sales people. Walk to range to see if they can do box sales. NO! 2 employees at range chatting between themselves, not busy. ??? That would make 8 visible employees and no one handling box sales??? Still 2 box sales waiting. 11:17am finally a sales person takes care of person in front of me. 11:20 5 customers 6 sales, 2 sales doing nothing, one looks at me I look at my clock on my phone and he walks away. 11:21 I walk away after putting ammo back on shelf.... You have now one less customer. I understand gun sales are important, but so is every interaction with a customer, especially box sales of ammo and accessory's. I shoot 10 different calibers, and on average buy at least one gun a year, minimum! You will not ever be selling me one of those future firearms, because your staff could not pull away for 1 min to ring a box sale. I will also recommend to my many gun enthusiast friends (I have been shooting for 45 years) and I have many, that they steer clear of your establishment... This is not my first experience like this here! But it is my last. Regards. P.S. There has been a long wait and same inattentive attitude every time I have come through the door, You need to reeducate your staff on customer service protocol. I came here last week. I chose this place because almost all (or all) gun ranges require that you get a membership. I called around and most places gave me a quote of $300 or so for 3 months, etc. I'm not much of a shooter so I thought that was a little pricey. I called west coast armory north and they told me it was 25 for the membership for a year and you can bring up to 2 guests every visit for 10. You would have to rent the gun and buy ammo separately, but that seemed affordable! It was second time shooting but first time here. I was definitely a newbie, not sure where to go. All the workers working that day were very helpful and soooo nice! We had someone helping us answer all of our questions and helped us pick which gun, bullet, etc. While shooting I turned and one of the workers was watching us to make sure we were doing okay and gave us a thumbs up. I'm definitely going to take advantage of my membership and go again! read more

I usually don't write reviews on places I go because people reading a review might get the wrong impression by my wording or tone. Anyway, I started coming to this range early this month. I have been to West Coast Armory before in Bellevue. I never knew that they opened up a location closer to where I live. Recently I had always gone to Norpoint but I didn't like they had their membership set up and the drive up there. So what I really like about this range is that the staff don't make you feel pressured to sign up for their membership, they don't make you feel like you have buy something to chat with them. Recently I meet Harry up there at their gun shop and I found his insight and understanding of how to pair a person with the best choices when it comes to a firearm. I mostly was up there looking for my first conceal carry choice and Harry saw how I was looking for something that would fit my hands and easy to operate. He didn't put the choices on me, he recommended them and pointed out they had them for rentals so I would be best to try them out and see which one I like. So I did and ended up picking the right now. Now came my decision and Harry was nice and polite about how I could go about getting it since I was worried about not being able to afford it right now. He also told me to think about it and not to feel pressured to get it right away. The Range Staff were very nice and professional to me, I really don't understand what I am reading when people give this place 1-2 stars and say the staff are rude to them or something like that. I think they gave me a great customer service experience and they didn't rub me the wrong way in any matter. Also I liked how they didn't just like talking about guns and stuff but they also liked to talk about history or every day things. If I had to pick a place to go shooting and feel welcome it would have to be here at the West Coast Armory North location. So that is my two cents. read more

I took the Handgun 101 class with my sister at West Coast Armory North. The facility is clean and well-maintained, and very easy to get to physically. Staff are friendly and helpful. If you are looking to learn your way around a handgun and/or pursure further training or certification with regards to firearms, this is the place to go. John is incredibly knowledgeable and this is evident in both the way he teaches and how he guides you through the process of learning safety and proper operation of handguns. No prior experience is necessary, and I can almost guarantee that if you are considering taking this class, that you will most definitely learn something. I have shot firearms many times before over the span of many years, and I learned a lot from the class. You can read about what the course entails on the website, but the way the course is laid out progressively moves you towards actual operation, taking small steps to learn PROPER and SAFE operation of handguns. The process at the end of actually getting to fire handguns of different calibers and manufacturers is a great way to kick-start the process of picking the right handgun for you, and highly recommend the course if you are simply looking for a class to find the right handgun for you, as well as brush up on or improve your technique. read more

Dropped in today to "buy" a holster for my revolver along with some ammo. They didn't carry holsters for a S&W K frame revolver which is a pretty common size. Asked about a magazine holster for a .380 pistol. Again, they don't stock those. Asked about several different types of ammo..again, they didn't carry them. Asked if they had any of the two Ruger SR10's or 15's and nothing. Finally gave up on trying to seek out these apparent unicorns and walked over to the rifles. When I asked to look at a rifle; I got a blank stare before the gal answered, "that's a $7,000 Lapua .338 rifle. If you drop that gun, you would be responsible for replacing it." ...are you kidding me...?? Apparently they don't have insurance either. Was planning on scoping out the range for a possible membership, but after this experience, I'll definitely avoid going back. Today was my first visit to WCA North with a friend to do some shooting. Wow, was I impressed. I've shot at several local ranges and this is the best. Staff is friendly and attentive, prices are very reasonable, and the place is clean as a whistle and comfortable. The air filtration system in the shooting bay was excellent. I bought a Bronze membership for $25 for a year and paid a $15 lane fee to shoot plus $10 for my friend to shoot as a guest on my lane. Next week they are releasing info on their new family membership. There is one bay open now but their remodeled rifle bay is about ready to open. WCA North is a winner in my book! read more
