We had an excellent experience working with Werth Builders during the planning and permitting process for our pool project. Peter and his team helped us through the design and engineering process, and we were able to get our plans approved and the city permit issued. We had agreed on the contract and were just about ready to begin construction when an unexpected, life-changing event occurred that required us to suddenly put the project on hold. Having that conversation was difficult because Peter was ready to get started and had already put a lot of time and effort into getting everything prepared. However, he was extremely understanding and professional throughout the entire situation. His communication has been excellent from the beginning, and he handled the unexpected change with honesty, flexibility, and genuine understanding. One thing that really stood out to us was that Peter was also able to put a pause on project materials, which helped us avoid unnecessary costs while we work through our situation and plan to resume the project next year. Although construction has not officially begun, I felt it was important to share our experience because you learn a lot about a company and the person running it when circumstances suddenly change. Peter demonstrated the kind of professionalism, communication, and understanding that you hope to find when making a major investment in a project like a pool. We fully intend to resume the project with Werth Builders next year, and I look forward to providing an additional review once the pool is completed. Based on our experience so far, I would absolutely recommend Werth Builders to anyone considering a pool project. Thank you, Peter, for your understanding and professionalism throughout this unexpected change. We're looking forward to having you and your team complete our pool next year! read more

We couldn't be happier with the work Peter did for us last year! From start to finish, he was outstanding--professional, reliable, and always on time. He built us a beautiful pool and a full outdoor living area, and the quality of his work exceeded our expectations. His pricing was very reasonable compared to other contractors we considered, and he delivered exactly what he promised without any delays. My entire family is beyond impressed with the transformation of our backyard. Highly recommend Peter if you're looking for top-notch service and craftsmanship! My home looks like something out of a magazine and entertaining has been a blast. read more

We just started the process to completely remodel our backyard, by putting in a pool, jacuzzi, Baja ledge, new deck and outdoor bar. We met with several vendors before making a decision, but Peter really impressed us with how knowledgeable and attentive he is. He's been showing us samples, suggesting materials, and he's always ready to answer any of my million questions. Peter has also been really good about respecting our budget, without sacrificing the quality. We are in the process of getting the technical drawings created and I can't wait to see our backyard done! I'll come back and update my review once the project is completed, to share my experience and photos. read more

I got Werth Builders contact information from a neighbor and have hired the company to build a pool and jacuzzi. So far, my wife has been very impressed that they have held to the timeline which our home contractor didn't. Will try to post photos when project is complete. I contracted Pete to help with my backyard renovation project, which included a pool, jacuzzi, pergola, putting green, and concrete. Pete and his team (especially Joe Panella) did a fantastic job. They took care of all the paperwork which includes the permits and engineering. They also help you build a visual 3D design that you can see prior to the build to make sure everyone is on the same page. The permit part of the process took a long time but after that, his team was here getting the job done every week, and finished within 6 months. I definitely recommend using Pete for your project. Just be sure to be very detailed and patient. I let Pete do his thing and avoided actively managing any part of the project. Sometimes you might get worried that he forgot about you or something but Pete has it under control. Definitely also be conscious that there could be changes in prices due to materials, etc. Need to be prepared for that. read more

We contacted Peter to build us a heated cocktail pool with spa jets, a gas fire pit, & a putting green. Peter & his team are experts at their jobs & each crew that came in to work were all very professional & nice. We have a disabled daughter so we designed the pool together around what we needed for her. The cocktail pool is the perfect size to lounge in & cool off in the summer & in the other months small enough to heat up fast & not make the electric bill outrageously high. Even the pool guy we hired to do our start up service was amazed with how well it was built & how good the equipment is. I would totally recommend Peter & his crew to build the backyard you are looking for. read more

When we decided to have a pool built in our backyard, we had discussions with and received quotes from multiple builders (and you should too). Peter was the most transparent and down to earth of them all. He did not offer us the cheapest quote but he also didn't try to gloss over the cost of the project, he explained every step and seemed to really know his stuff and he's local, so we chose him. Peter jumped started the process right away for a small pool, spa, deck and even a new retaining wall to expand our backyard. I was very nervous about starting such a large project but Peter handled every detail, including our city's painful permit process and listened to all of our concerns...and we had a ton. The full process did take longer than expected due to delays in permits plus this was done in 2020, need I say more. Our new backyard is now so inviting! We are extremely happy with it and cannot wait for those long summer days to get here. Until then we are enjoying our spa in this amazing California winter weather. Peter and his entire team are very good at what they do but a project of this scale does not come without stress and anxiety. Peter did such a good job trying to keep my nerves in check, assuring us that everything would work out and not to worry. And he was right, every issue that surfaced, he made sure it was taken care of. Through this process Peter was always the same, down to earth guy that we first met, we even got to meet his amazing kid and his handsome dog. Do yourself a favor and at least call Peter out for a quote and don't settle for less. read more

We contracted Peter to build us a pool and renovate our patio. He gave us the beautiful pool we have always wanted. It's like a Grecian oasis. And the innovative technology he uses to efficiently heat the pool is amazing. Our pool, pergola, lawn and garden area all work beautifully together. We put our total trust in him and he went beyond our expectations. Peter is very committed to making sure his clients will be satisfied and offers some great suggestions along the way. He even recommended how to expand our lawn and make our garden area easier to maintain. He and his crew are very friendly and efficient. They all work hard to produce great quality results. We highly recommend Peter to build your pool. He is great to work with and has a very likable personality. He is worth every penny! Thank you, Peter! read more

***FINAL REVIEW*** PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND READ THIS REVIEW COMPLETELY!!! Werth Builders has done EXACTLY what they said they would do and it is what we agreed to get done over the course. But I am going to use Yelp for which it is intended a true review and experience. I am not going to take away from the workmanship of the pool and deck with the exception of the pool bottom. I had to re-drain the pool and was disappointed to never have heard from Peter to follow up on his subcontractors and check on the bottom. I now have to complete my own repair on the botched acid wash job from excess acid not being rinsed away and the black bottom is less than expected....but this final is more about their process and communication and Peter's lack of. I want to liken my experience with Peter and his business as successful but like going to the dentist.... you will get fixed, AND it will be better, but the road to getting there runs the risk of pain depending on how you get numbed up. The final product is beautiful except the bottom (stay away from dark bottom and quartz), however iron out the details in front of you! Get a scope of work even if generalized (unless it doesn't matter and you just want to jump in when it is hot) There are all kinds of choices for equipment, pool plastering and trades involved. I was not a fan of Alex over the course... he started strong but the mess and questions that were left in his wake daily got to be unbearable and unsanitary .... i will simply leave it at that. Memo and his team were the fixers... which they did and were clean and respectful of the property. The communication was less than desirable myself and Peter had a few less than pleasurable conversations but the professionalism bled through when needed and we were able to push through. Too many people that were involved that didn't have the authority to make the needed correct decisions or provide the expectation... Peter is the business and has a responsibility to update the owners of these projects as things change and spot check his guys. As a homeowner/customer on a project this size and (at least to me a considerable sum of money) i want to know what is next and what i am to expect, so if it is not as expected we can address and move forward. If the details are ironed out and you know exactly what you are getting he is your man- if not plan on being involved and asking a lot of questions. Things that can bite if not addressed: This is with any contractor so not strictly a Werth issue... BTW Werth did not gouge me for this, it was like the dentist hitting a nerve then realizing he needs to numb that spot. work out deck colors, textures and finishes and make sure they are qualified to do what you are asking (remember that concrete is VERY different than what you see on your ipad this in light of my concrete background and everyone needs to know) make sure the final set of drawings is what gets used and get detailed drawings of your vision who is paying for pool fence? who is paying for permits? who is paying for the pool start up? who is paying for equipment programming if any? what additional alarms are needed and when? get setup with a local pool supplier and have water tested prior to accepting your pool from your contractor I want to thank Peter but believe that there have been takeaways for everybody from this project. Would I recommend Peter for another job? Yes with the details clear ***START OF ORIGINAL REVIEW*** This is going to be a diary review. For the next 120 days we will be in a relationship with Peter and so far the intro, follow up and flexibility has been 5 star... as we progress the ratings will be based on the phase of the job at that time! We will report the good the bad and the ugly (if there is ugly ). I called Peter yesterday and within a day my schedule was accommodated, job bid, price accepted and timeline put in place. We are having a full backyard retreat with fire pit, spa, pool and deck and told 10-31 should be achievable and within an agreed budget! Next phase is design and site work! Stay tuned!!!!! read more

We had several companies give us bids for our project. Some were higher and some were lower. We hired Peter based off his yelp reviews and the feeling we got when we first met Peter. We did a complete backyard remodel. The workmanship is top notch and the workers were very respectful. There were a couple bumps in the road, but that is expected with any contractor. Peter is a man of his word and fixed any and all issues that came up. Alex and his crew were very easy to deal with, and gave us some good ideas throughout the project that we did not think about. We were very involved in our project and the communication with Alex was very good. read more

My suggestion is to let our research be your gain! We interviewed quite a few contractors to do our backyard and can say Peter was very competitively priced and was an amazing partner through the entire process. Our project included removing a large area of grass and some concrete and replacing it with a fire pit, seating wall, bbq area with a bar and a patio cover. Peter also had the idea to add a planter wall, which we had not thought of and he was right...it looks amazing. At first I was skeptical because I like to see line item details, blue prints and have it all tie together. Peter stated he could provide those but it would take some time and add additional costs. He stated if I were to trust him we would see he will deliver exactly what we want on time and on budget. Well, we decided to trust him and are so glad we did. We did not pay a dime over what was quoted, the project was completed early and we are extremely happy with the final outcome. We met with Peter of 4th of July weekend on a Saturday morning. Within an hour after that meeting to our surprise Peter and Alex returned. Peter wanted us to meet Alex as he is the foreman of the team and would be the one we would see daily if we decided to move forward. Alex and Peter took us to the backyard, walked through what we had discussed and drew some painted lines around to help us visualize it. We were sold and signed up. (We had done a lot of research prior so we knew the price he had offered was competitive and we had not met anyone who worked as quickly as this) The next day, a Sunday on a holiday weekend, Alex and team showed up in the morning and by noon they had our backyard demo completed and were ready to start building it back up after the holiday. We were very clear we didnt want to lose the whole summer with no backyard and the agreement was they would be done in no more than 4 weeks. We have had a lot of contracting work done on our house and my wife was not very happy with a lot of their attitudes towards her if she were to ask questions or ask to make a change. Unfortunately we have found you dont know you want a change until you see things being built!! It is impossible to understand exactly what things will look like..in all other cases any time she wanted something changed there was a corresponding charge. NOT with Peter and Alex. The awesome part of working with them is they partner with you!! They actually asked for her opinion on things before they do something and if there needed to be a change...they made it...NO CHARGE! This included our decision to shorten the patio roof area and enlarge the BBQ space which I was certain would have cost extra...but nope...they just made the change and moved on... I cant say enough about Alex as the foreman. He and his team were on time, hard working, polite and always went the extra mile. They did little things I would have never expected such as took out and brought in our trash cans at the end of the day, spent time hand watering our front yard because the sprinklers had to be disconnected as they did work in the backyard and at the end of every day they would sweep, hose things down and kept our yard orderly during the entire process. I could keep going but I think you can get the picture. The last thing I will emphasize is the job was completed by the end of July...beating the agreed upon time! I recommend Peter and his team to anyone looking for a contractor. If I were you I would stop searching and use Peter and team! read more

Werth Builders - General Contractors Near Me - Huntington Beach, California

Peter Werth built us a beautiful pool and backyard space. He cares deeply about giving his clients the pool and space they want and will do what it takes to make that happen. The crew he uses from top to bottom are top notch - they work so hard and do really quality work. The only reason this is not a 5-star review is because the communication and scheduling was sometimes a problem. It may not be for everyone but we have dogs and work full time so we needed to know when the workers would be there to plan ahead. Due to the demands of other jobs, availability of materials, etc., it is not always easy to know much in advance but this was a problem at times. Having said that, he always responded to me when I reached out and I always felt attended to. The only other advice I would offer is to make it very clear in your contract when the periodic payments are due based on the phase of work being completed and make sure your plans and conversations with Peter accurately reflect exactly what you want to avoid delays and potential increased costs. All in all though, we have a beautiful backyard space and it was great having a contractor who cared about giving us that. read more

My husband and I are incredibly happy with the finished product of our pool and spa! We contracted with Werth Builders after starting our initial search for pool contractors in the Walnut Creek area. A well-rated vendor was too busy, but shared Peter's contact information with this endorsement: "Good dude, unreal experience, kind honest human." And if you've ever worked with a contractor before, this is a HUGE deal. After meeting with 3 different contenders, we chose to work with Peter for a few reasons: 1) You could FEEL his enthusiasm for building pools. 2) He asked really detailed questions about what our vision was, what were our goals for having a pool - and from there, provided innovative ideas and suggestions. Who would've thought of umbrella holes in our step alongside the pool to help keep us shaded while in the pool?! 3) He was flexible with our needs - we had a deck that was fairly in the way of construction that the other 2 vendors said they'd need to remove - Peter said he could make it work with a smaller Bobcat. The 3D design process with Angelica was so effective and helped us really see our vision come to life! Peter gave helpful feedback along the way and helped us design a pool and spa that ticked all the boxes for us. Peter communicates with authenticity, passion, and kindness. He definitely puts his clients first and is in this for the pride of the work. The below comments are not a reflection of Peter, but more lessons learned in the process that I think people new to building a pool should know in order to have the most positive experience possible: - Supply chains are INSANE right now. Get yourself a contractor like Peter who will stockpile your pool equipment to make sure you get the best deal. And, be patient. Everyone is doing the best they can, especially if they are on Peter's team. Try to be flexible and roll with the punches. - You will likely need to do landscaping after the project is finished from all of the construction equipment running over your land. We were lucky to get a recommendation of a great landscaper from Peter's concrete guy (feel free to ping me on Yelp to learn more). - You will deal with a lot of sub-contractors. Peter is very detailed in his selection of team members and takes it very seriously, but do not be surprised that you are working with many people across different phases: masonry, decking (aka concrete), plumbing, electricity, excavation, gunite, plaster/mini-pebble. All in all, if someone asked me if I would recommend working with Peter on a pool/spa project, my answer 100% would be yes. read more

We had an existing pool, and found Pete on Yelp. He came out for a free consultation, showed us pictures of projects and took a lot of time and energy to give us a competitive bid and vision for our yard. We had several people come out for bids, and Pete's price was very competitive and turned out to be the perfect fit for us. That day, we hired Pete to revamp our whole yard. His company removed all our old concrete, dirt, planters, and brought the pool down to the shell. His team took great care in protecting our house, and existing equipment to reuse it after the project. We respected and appreciated his team and experience. Pete was quick to give us suggestions and feedback based on his few decades of experience in backyard remodels. We made changes along the way, and the team was very accommodating to create the vision we wanted for the yard. The team kept the yard clean after work hours as we have kids roaming around, and the crew was very trustworthy where we felt very safe and comfortable having teams working throughout the days, and even weekends. When weather was a factor, they even worked on weekends to make up for missed time to get the project done. Another aspect of Pete I appreciated is he always answered his phone, or replied to text messages quickly. When hiccups did come up, he was quick to be at the house to resolve the issue to keep up with the schedule. At the end of the project and day, everything was complete and done as advertised and discussed. He was true to his word, trustworthy, and even follows up regularly to make sure things are going well. I would recommend his team to anyone looking for creating an outdoor living and entertaining space! read more

A very large 15 person fire pit , two 20 ft long custom built BBQ islands & a beautiful 25x25 pavilion with an outdoor fireplace. All of this surrounded by pavers & great landscaping. Let's start with the new pool...it's amazing! In every way! When my husband and I look at it, we can't believe how beautiful it is, and our kids don't want to get out! It was finished last month, and now it's late November and we still go in it every weekend. I love that we can stay home during the weekend and just hang by and in the pool! The project was a remodel. The original pool was built in the 60's and was very deep and very long. No heater and all old equipment and plumbing. We had been planning on remodeling it, but once an expensive piece of equipment broke we decided it was time. I got 5 quotes from pool contractors in Orange County. 1 quote was low, 1 was high, and the others were in the middle. Along with price, we were also looking at the contractor's work, attitude, and practices. We liked Peter Werth from the get-go. He seemed genuinely excited about our project and had lots of great ideas. We wanted to go with a mid-century modern look, cut about 1/3 off the original pool, shallow it out, and add a spa. As well as pour a new concrete deck, build an in-ground fire pit, add concrete pads with turf around the pool, and an outdoor shower. It was a huge project! After lots of research and thought, we decided to go with Werth Builders. The team was incredible, everyone on the crew was a good guy and easy to work with. The work was impeccable AND on budget and on time! Peter is honest, an incredible contractor, great to work with, and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a new pool, backyard, or remodel! read more

It was a big job; they had to grade the whole yard and build a waterline and gas line a long distance across the yard, as well as installing about 900 sq feet of patio stone and building two beautiful islands for bbq and bar, wrapped in custom stone and built in stone planters and innovative beautiful lighting - both for safety and ambience. (He also installed a new beautiful healthy lawn. ) Peter has the manpower and knowledgeable skilled workers to handle all of these details. I called Peter after finding his glowing reviews on yelp. He met me a couple days later at our house to walk through what we wanted to do. We had recently remodeled the house itself, but had an old dated pool that needed to be redone, along with the pool deck and driveway. I had already gotten a couple other bids but Peter had a great attitude and seemed really excited at taking on the project. Peters team started soon thereafter with demo of the existing pool and driveway, and started in relocating the pool equipment. We were completely transforming the backyard (small but still a lot to do) and everything happened quickly and on budget. Along with the new pool tile and plaster, we redid a patio cover, vinyl fence topper, relocated new poop equipment, laid pet friendly turf in the back, new sod in the front, and new stamped concrete around the pool and driveway. I'd definitely recommend using Peter, and would use him again on our next home in a heartbeat. read more

The pool is finished, and is generally OK. But working with this company was a nightmare. They started the project without getting city permits, and we received a "stop work" notification from the city. It took another 6 weeks before work was resumed. Throughout the process we heard countless complaints about how our city (Rancho Palos Verdes) was making things so difficult, despite an original claim that Werth Builders worked in RPV all the time, and was familiar with the requirements. All together, it took a full year for the project--a pool renovation with the addition of a spa--to be completed. Much of the delay was due to the lack of communication from Werth Builders. We were not aware of many of the fencing requirements until the city inspector explained them to us--these are standard requirements, why wouldn't the pool contractor let us know about them? If we had known earlier, we would have made sure the proper fences were in place for the inspection. As far as the finished product--the colored concrete around the pool is blotchy, and the computer interface that is supposed to use an app to control the lights, heating, and pump simply doesn't work at all. We have not attempted to have Werth Builders remedy these problems because we do not want to have any contact with them ever again. There were many other issues along the way, as well as a fair amount of belligerence and disrespect from the contractor, that made this a thoroughly miserable experience. read more

Project: Garage remodel to an outdoor Living Room So, I had this vision of what I wanted to do with my backyard. Open up the walkway, take down the back wall of my (very large) garage and make it into an outdoor living room, complete with TV, kitchen, BBQ, etc. I really didn't have much of a plan beyond that. I found Peter through an advertisement mailer. I'm a physician and have limited availability to meet. He understood that and showed up the same day that I called him, bounding with energy and enthusiasm about the project. His bid came in at a very reasonable price and I decided to go with him and his company, mostly because I thought I would enjoy working with him and I liked his attitude. I am so happy that I did! He took my idea and ran with it. He pushed on some things that I didn't agree with (that turns out he was right), but also took my ideas into consideration and gave in when he knew that was important for me. In the end, I have a GORGEOUS backyard kitchen/patio/outdoor living room that is well constructed and at a very reasonable cost. I believe I got much more than my money's worth. He delivered 100% on all promises and has even checked in since completion of the project to make sure some loose ends are tied. Would highly recommend Werth Builders for your project! read more

We recently had Peter and his team do our new pool construction. Since we have two houses on our lot we were not sure our small space could fit a pool. Many companies either didn't call us back or told us we could have a spa OR tiny, unheated lap pool but not both. We chose Peter because he was very inspiring and had a great vision for maximizing our space. He knows Long Beach very well and his relationship with the city is very evident in how fast and easy the entire process was. Alex was our foreman and he and his crew were great, always on time and very friendly. Our neighbors complimented us several times on how clean they left our house and street when they were done for the day. Our pool & spa came out stunning, we are so happy! We have done MANY remodeling projects and this was the most stress-free. Peter understood that we are very busy and if there were any mishaps we sure didn't know because he didn't bother us with it. Our review is very similar to the other 5 star reviews here. Thank you Peter, Alex and crew, every single person we came into contact with during this process was great! read more

Right from the start, Peter had a great vision that helped us transform our backyard. He had great recommendations as far as a layout and helped with drainage issues we had. You can definitely tell that Peter takes pride on the job getting done correctly. He threw in a lot of drains in our backyard and a couple of electrical outlets. He also made sure that all of residual damage that comes construction was taken care of. Another thing you could tell is that Peter really isn't in the business to nickel and dime you and really just wants to make you happy. The job was done way faster than I had initially thought. It's been a little over a month since our pool was built by Peter and we love it so much, especially during these time of the pandemic. It has been the ultimate quarantine getaway right in our backyard! read more

My husband and I used Werth Builders to create our backyard oasis and they definitely delivered. We absolutely love the way everything turned out and would recommend Peter and his company to anyone! I was very impressed with the fast response I always received when I contacted Peter or anyone working for him. They went above and beyond to make sure that we were happy each step of the way. They even pushed things through at the end to make sure our family that was visiting from out of town was able to enjoy it with us. Again, if you are looking for a contractor you should absolutely give Werth Builders a call. read more

We screwed up pouring concrete counters outside and called Pete to come to the rescue. Luckily he was a me to squeeze us in and fix it. His crew was great again. They were careful with our patio and cleaned up after themselves. They worked super hard and efficiently. I would recommend them to anyone and since this this is my second time using them, I would obviously use them again! Thanks Pete and team! read more

Let me start by saying that everyone I spoke to before we decided on a new pool had nothing but negative things to say about their experiences. We went into this prepared for the worst... dust, filth, poor communication, false timelines etc. I have to say our experience was THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE! When I first met Peter (the company owner) I immediately got a good, honest vibe from him. He was very upfront and explained to me EVERYTHING I needed to know with zero expectation of me hiring him for the job. He gave me a very reasonable price for a large scope of work (In my eyes). He broke down the whole process to me, and walked me through it week by week. He was very attentive to my questions and concerns and always either answered my phone calls or promptly returned any missed calls. His guys that work for him were always so respectful to me and my family. Sweet to my kids, and even would take my trash out for me. They were good to my dogs, always cleaned up after themselves, and made things very clear before and when any changes were happening with the project. They even fixed a sprinkler for me! Peter went above and beyond for us. Throwing in extra drains and other pluses here and there just to make sure he completed the project to the best of his ability. I feel very fortunate to have come across Werth Builders for the job. We now have a beautiful pool and back yard, and happy kids and dogs! Oh, and WE ARE THRILLED as well. I HIGHLY recommend them for any backyard project. read more
