Classic Construction turned a fixer upper into our dream home. The work they did consisted of removing a shear wall, kitchen remodel (including plumbing, electrical relocation, installation of appliances, farmhouse sink, fixtures and cabinets), remove suspended ceiling, move of HVAC ducts, reframe and installation of 8 foot exterior and interior doors, removal and reinstallation of crown moulding, and some painting. Basically, the whole first floor was gutted down to the studs and redone. Zach Curtis (the owner) and his team are honest and trustworthy. Since we both work during the day, we had no problem and were comfortable not being at the site while they worked. This was very important to us since we couldn't afford to lose time off from work. They had a great working relationship with the building inspectors every step of the way. Zach was always onsite and took care of everything like working with the other contractors (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, structural engineer, etc). They completed the project in the timeframe that was estimated. Zach worked through unexpected issues without revising the change order. He is so meticulous with his work and is a perfectionist. There was nothing that had to be redone or where they had to come back to fix. Things were done right the first time. It was so nice to see that the work site was swept free of dirt and dust at the end of the day. His crew never left without cleaning up so we never walked into a mess. Zach was very easy to work with. As someone who isn't familiar with construction lingo I felt very comfortable calling and talking to him. It was as if he knew that if I wasn't happy, nobody will be happy. Lol. His team - Scotty and Peter - were very professional, personable, respectful, prompt, and hardworking. Zach & Peter are an amazing team: kind, careful and thoughtful. Our project wasn't so big, but it was complicated and intricate involving HVAC issues and gaining every inch of space we could to expand our Master Bedroom & Bathroom. Every new crazy idea I came up with Zach would consider, but often had a better idea. It was very reassuring to have someone so knowledgable about construction double check me and advise on everything from shower design to shiplap walls to electrical outlets. This review is long overdue. We have a 1960s house in HB and it was in dire need of updating. Classic Construction services completely renovated our downstairs master bath and pretty much the rest of the entire downstairs as well. This included pony wall demo, hanging several interior doors, carpet and tile demo, new wood-like tile flooring and new baseboard. They tore the master bath down to the studs and helped reorganize the layout. Since we are on a slab this included tearing up the concrete for pretty much the entire bathroom and rerouting plumbing. Zach, Peter, and Scotty were great! They helped us first time homeowners through our first major renovation and really went above and beyond. Zach pays particular attention to detail and if there was something that concerned us he wasn't satisfied until we were satisfied. We were working with a fairly fixed budget and Zach helped point us in the right direction to source materials and suggested a few design ideas along the way. His team is very experienced and knows the business inside and out. Zach subcontracted the floor tiling and shower tiling to Stueve Tile. We chose wood-like tile throughout to hold up against the wear and tear from the pets and children. Chris and his guys were also great. They were in and out in about a week. We choose a marble tile for the shower and Chris's tile installer was quite the artist. He personally cut and polished each of the end pieces. Highly recommend Stueve tile for any of your tiling needs. Overall we could not be happier with our choice of Classic Construction. We highly recommend Zach and his team! I would call them first for any of your renovation needs. We will use certainly use them again to tackle additional projects that didn't make the budget this time around - new kitchen, new exterior doors, etc. Really glad we found a great contractor that we will keep coming back to. read more

I have to say it was not an easy project! We decided to remove load bearing wall, dividing our kitchen and dining room to get the open concept look. From my perspective and after hundreds of HGTV shows not a biggie you would think...well it was a really complicated project and Zach with Peter was a perfect team to hire for that for sure! Zach is a general contractor but he actually works on the job , very detail oriented and professional, provides high quality work and he is very respectful of his job site. Zach and Peter team is a pleasure to work with, they take their time, listen what the costumer wants and leave your place spotless after their work day is over. After three agonizing months of interviewing various sub-par contractors (75% of which came to my home for an estimate and never followed up with a written quote) I was referred to Classic Construction Services by an old friend (who I later found out, was referred to Classic Construction Services by his next-door neighbor). This friend is one of those guys that can do most construction work himself, but he was limited on time due to the fact he and his wife had a baby coming. The point being that if my construction-knowledgeable friend approved of Classic Construction Services, they might be halfway decent. I asked Classic Construction Services to come out for an estimate and met the owner, Zach Curtus. He was a knowledgeable, friendly, and professional guy. Zach spent a considerable amount of time in my home discussing the project (most of the other people I interviewed spent as little time as possible with me due to their supposed busy schedule) and answered every single question I had. Soon after, Zach provided me with a detailed 5-page quote. Keyword here is detailed. Each task (demolition, rough carpentry, electrical, HVAC, drywall, finish carpentry, painting, and flooring) was broken down into specific sub-tasks and prices. None of the other quotes I received provided anything other than a 1-paragraph summary and total price. A few days later, I called Zach and told him that he had won my business. He was appreciative of this fact, thanked me for selecting his company, and we agreed on a start date. I'll spare you the detail of the work performed, but I will tell you that the end result was excellent, and that I am 100% satisfied. I would also like to list out a number of positive supporting attributes: -Showed up on time every each and every day. -Vacuumed and dusted the work (and surrounding) area at the end of each work day. -For the few tasks that required subject matter experts, he used top-notch subcontractors (people that he works with all the time). -Was always here to introduce us to any subcontractors that would be working in our home. -Kept me up to date on progress (combination of daily briefings, debriefs, status updates, etc.) in person, by phone, and via text message. -Provided sensible solutions and fair pricing for two truly unforeseen (HVAC duct) issues caused by the original homebuilder's poor planning. Overall, I couldn't be happier and will certainly use Classic Construction Services for future projects. Zach is a highly qualified, highly certified contractor when it comes to home improvement. I highly recommend him. Whatever you need done, this guy can do and more. I called a few contractors on Yelp and Zach's prices were the best for the improvements that I needed. While Zach provided a free estimate, he also came out and did the work himself along with a partner. Another good thing about Zach was how fast and responsive he was whether I contacted him via text or phone call. Zach recently completed a construction project in our house in which he installed 6 recess lighting cans in the living room with one dimmer switch and one regular switch. We also had him remove some brick backsplash above our fireplace mantle that was about 6.5'W x 4.5H. His team also put up drywall once the backsplash was removed. After, he mounted a TV bracket above our fireplace. One of his team members also helped me run my surround sound cables in the attic. The project took exactly two full days and came out excellent! The recess lighting alignment came out great and the wall above our fireplace looks like the brick backsplash was never there. The wall mount is holding up well with a 55'' TV. Zach's work and precision was nothing but professional which produced 100% quality to my satisfaction. He really took his time and made sure all measurements were on the dot before proceeding. I'm definitely looking forward to contacting Zach again to work on additional areas in our home because after my positive experience with Zach and Classic Construction I have TRUST. We hired Zach Curtis' Classic Construction Services in 2020 to remodel a bedroom, bathroom & nearby hallway in a rental house we own. We looked for a small-business contractor local to Huntington Beach where the house is. Zach was the only contractor we interviewed - because after talking to him & receiving his prompt & detailed quote, we knew he was perfect for the job. We were not disappointed. The project had no structural work but included a lot of electrical work, installation of some vinyl flooring (that Zach had to search for to match existing) & ceramic tile. We purchased some items (vanity, & fixtures) for him to install & that went well also. For some specialized work, Zach hired subcontractors. The 2 different flooring subs & the drywall sub were fine; the plumber & painter had problems but Zach resolved all issues to our satisfaction. I know more about construction than an average homeowner & am a perfectionist, but that was not a problem for Zach. During the project, Zach made it easy to add new tasks & not do some that were on the quotation; I kept notes on this so Zach could focus on the work & still be properly compensated. Zach & helper Peter were friendly, easy to work with, neat & clean, competent & finished the work in a timely manner. They minimized disturbance to the tenant.
