New Year, New Home! If you have ever seen the show "Fixer Upper," then you have an idea of how much Shorebreak Construction transformed our home and lives. Chris and his team took our small 1960s kitchen with very limited storage space/living room and redesigned a beautiful and efficient kitchen, living room, and bathroom with a modern open floor plan. Throughout the process, Chris saved us money and time where he could by advising options on materials/parts and solving unexpected problems that came up along the way. Despite rain and wind during the remodel, the project still progressed, finishing a month early and on budget. No matter how big or small the job, you can trust Chris and his team to get the job done right. His crew was not only professional, but they also respected the work site and our privacy. While the remodel was going on, we had multiple neighbors compliment on not only the progress, but how clean and neat the work site stayed. We are so happy we found Shorebreak Construction to make our dream home a reality.

BEFORE (there was a window behind that shower that was covered up by a previous owner.)

We absolutely loved working with Chris and his team. This is going to be a long review! So many wonderful things to say. They remodeled our master bath and kitchen and we LOVE how everything turned out. We also loved their process. (Excel sheets with every single thing broken out, and they thought of really important things beforehand -like extra electrical needed for inspection etc.) They also installed all new windows and sliding doors. Working with Robin was incredibly easy and she is always so responsive. She coordinates everything and is amazing. Mike, Edgar & Adrian were the three main project manager/team members and were great! Always on time (Mike is always early, which is the best). What I appreciated with the three of them, and Chris as well, is that they were always willing to think outside of the box. For a contractor, that is rare. It's always "I can or cannot do that", not "Let's see how we can make this work!" Which was exactly what their whole team was able to do. There was no trying to convince us to do something different because it was easier. Edgar is especially great at coming up with solutions. He solved a lot of puzzles for us haha. We had a strange bathroom to work with because of some work the previous owners did. To the point that I couldn't find ANY other examples of what we needed to happen on the web. Chris had no issues with it. Just said we'd make it work. His team was able to uncover the hidden window, keep our same layout but now with a tub/shower combo, and find a way to have shower glass that runs up the middle of our bathroom window, and it looks GREAT and is FUNCTIONAL. I stressed about how this would turn out the whole time haha because it was such a strange request. It came out 10x better than I expected. All other contractors we contacted tried to talk me out of what we wanted to do. Our bathroom turned out AMAZING and I'm so glad they didn't try and talk me out of anything. All of the third party people they work with use the highest quality materials. Brian who installed our tile is seriously amazing. His attention to detail is insane. The plumbers they use are super responsive, friendly, and great at what they do. We had two issues after install. They came out the same day to fix the issue, and everything has been perfect since! The only issues we had were with cabinets. Mainly due to COVID. The company they work with just had a lot of craziness going on with staffing and suppliers, so the cabinets took a lot longer than usual, and we had to be really on top of the 3D renders before signing off. The project took longer than estimated because of this. But the cabinets are beautiful and we are really happy with them. Plus, when we had an issue upon installation, Robin made sure they were held accountable for the work and communicated with them on our behalf and made it all come together. We didn't have to talk to anyone but Robin. Such a relief. It's been about 6 months since everything has been finished and everything is holding up amazingly well! We get SO many compliments on everything. So in Summary: (for people who don't want to read my very long review haha) Pros: - Great communication - Great team - Transparent and thorough pricing - On-time - Quality sub-contractors (plumbing, tile, showerglass etc.) - Flexible and Innovative - Quick to fix any issues that arise Cons: - Needed to put some pressure on them to stay closer to the timeline (Once we did that they worked REALLY hard to turn things around as quickly as possible) - The team at StoneAge (cabinets) needed LOTS of oversight and they were so slow to communicate with both Robin and myself. (I get why they use them, the cabinets are great, so hopefully this was just an understaffing issue and it's easier for them in the future). We have work that needs to be done in the future, and we will 100% use Shorebreak. No question. That's all you really need to know, right?

Garage damage after a car crash

After a SUV hit our garage, we needed to find a contactor to fix our garage fast. I wanted to use a local reliable company and Yelp helped me find Chris @ SHorebreak Construction! I can't say enough about what a fantastic job they did! Robin in the office was great keeping me updated, Mike was awesome on-site and Chris made sure they stayed on tact as well as getting the city inspection done. Thanks for the great job!

I have now worked with Shorebreak over two separate projects. I initially contacted Chris for an estimate at my mothers place for an outdoor shower addition a month ago. He responded immediately and provided a through estimate and was very transparent about his pricing structure. He was honest about some of the unknowns which I appreciated. I have worked with several contracting companies before and I really enjoyed working with Shorebreak because they were far more organized than most. From beginning to end, Chris communicated directly or had his office manager Robin communicate with daily recaps and upcoming work schedules. We had a few change orders and these were handled professionally- I was sent an updated docusign email listing the new work and pricing. No surprises. They managed to install the shower without needing to patch the smooth stucco which was great because that is very hard to blend once disturbed. He took extra thought in designing the approach to minimize the damage and patching. My second project involved framing a closet and a new opening for a pantry expansion under the stairs. Again Chris provided the estimate and listed the unknowns for pricing alternates so there were no surprises. The drywall turned out great and the job was complete in two days. If you are looking for quality work, a small business feel, honest pricing, and fantastic communication then this is a great fit. I am sure there are less expensive alternatives but I don't have the time or patience for that type of ordeal. I would say Shorebreak was overall a pretty good value since they used mostly their own crew throughout both projects. Thanks Chris for the great experience.

Todd was extremely knowledgeable and helped us design our dream house with a fantastic new layout and modern design. He provides three dimensional drawings and has a plethora of cabinets, hardware, and countertops on display in his Huntington Beach office. They replaced every inch of our main sewer line and found a way for us to move our laundry room inside. Todd and his team easily removed one load-bearing interior wall to create an open floor plan and built an addition to make our master bathroom larger. Todd has a consistent crew who works with him. The crew is super friendly, skilled at their job, and keeps everything clean. From start to finish it was an absolute pleasure working with Todd. From the start, Hanna really stood out. He's not just a contractor--he genuinely knows what he's doing. He walked me through everything, explained the process, and caught multiple issues from the previous work that I didn't even realize were problems. Instead of cutting corners, he fixed everything the right way. They handled new framing, opening up walls, plumbing corrections, and a full rebuild of the space. The craftsmanship really shows, especially in the details. The shower tile work is flawless, and the shampoo niche came out super clean and well-designed. The new tile flooring ties everything together perfectly, and the paint finish gives the whole bathroom a fresh, modern coastal feel. Wes was also great to work with--professional, efficient, and clearly takes pride in his work. You can tell these guys care about doing things properly, not just getting the job done. If they said they were going to be here, they were. No drama! Everyone was professional, friendly, TOP NOTCH in their skill set, and Lu Na was in and out as well to make sure everything was going to her plan. I loved this experience so much I am planning to pay for an ad in my local women's club newsletter because EVERYONE IN HUNTINGTON BEACH has been looking for reliable vendors and this team is here & we just happened upon them (I had been taking bids since September. 11 months we were at this. I'm really not that difficult, but we hired (and also fired) mid-work because the other vendors weren't reliable. We even tried Ikea. They designed but didn't install. We had people come in and give us bids and then no show afterwards. We were referred to a company in Tustin, and it just didn't feel right. He was talking me into something I didn't want because he couldn't provide what we did want. That day, a mere 3 weeks ago, we were driving on Gothard. It was 4:45 pm, and we saw the HUNTINGTON CABINETS storefront. It was 4:45 and the door was open. We had just come from that vendor in Tustin who didn't have the inventory we wanted (and he was so difficult). HUNTINGTON CABINETS had the inventory. She came to the house, did her own measurements, guided us with her expertise, and today is the final of the final. We are living (and loving) the work and the BIG DIFFERENCE Huntington Cabinets has made to our day to day here. They freshened up 3 bathrooms. They were in and out of here in record time. The trades were superb. And I love that we not only got what we wanted, but on the day of, their workers would effortlessly agree to small side enhancements to other areas that made such a BIG difference without having to make a second trip back (we did a kitchen remodel years ago and had extra porcelain but were missing a backsplash in one area. Well, you know how hard it is to get a mini job scheduled). While here, the slab installation team took it on and stayed a little longer to get it done. Who does that? Let me tell you who does that: THE TEAM THAT HUNTINGTON CABINETS HAS --- independent craftspeople you can select to use (we did) who respect the woman owner of Huntington Cabinets and I can understand why. She's knowledgeable, respects your time and there's no hidden agenda. We LOVE LOVE LOVE the work they did and wholeheartedly (from the rooftops!) are delighted we chose to work with Huntington Cabinets this October 2025. Go Lu Na!!!!
