One of my favorite stores, well stocked and helpful sales people. Always able to find whatever part needed to complete the job.

WHAT IS ACE DOING??!!! I ordered an item online from Ace and needed to return it, so I went to their website (sadly I ignored my instinct not to shop at Ace because they are going extinct). Their "easy" return policy states that you must find a store and return it there or call a number. I called the number and was met with a promotional scam. The only option to get to talk to a representative was to dial "1" which brings you to a promotional department asking if you want $100. I wasn't born yesterday and I know you never get something for nothing. I said I just want to know how to return my item and so they promptly hung up on me, so I had to find a store. The nearest store was Werner's Ace, in Florida, NY, which is a 25 minute drive from my house. When I got there and said that I needed to make an online return, a very rude woman snapped at me that I have to come back tomorrow because the person who does online returns will be in tomorrow. So, of the three people behind the counter, none knew how to process a return - there is just one person specially trained LOL??!!! What are you doing guys? Do you know what year it is? read more

I don't yelp often, but when I do it's when it's just so ridiculous. I went into this hardware store to purchase a cart, it was 5:50 which yes is 10 min before they close. I had the item number and the upstairs staff instructed me to go downstairs where it was, however the older man working downstairs couldn't give me the time of day to help. I was Ready to purchase and be out the door in 5 minutes but couldn't get any assistance. I tried giving them local business but I guess they don't want it! Super annoying. Staff knows every stocked item in the store making it very simple to find what you're looking for. This store stocks items you wouldn't find anywhere else - washboards, ice cleats, to name a few. Prices are reasonable for a small store. read more

Very friendly staff. Just moved to the area and have stopped in for cleaning supplies, landscape needs, paint etc. I've always been greeted with a smile and am taken care of quickly. They didn't hesitate to call Benjamin Moore for a specific need that i had and I really appreciated that. Gone here for years instead of the big box stores, massive selection of home goods and hardware at the same or better prices. Picked up a new Husqvarna snowblower from them in late October 2017, the second time I used it the starter handle broke off and snapped the key (guess I didn't know my own strength). I called them up and the next morning they had someone at my house with a new handle and key for the machine. You just can't beat that level of service and it's why I will continue to go back. read more

Old school hardware store - good selection of merchandise, fair prices, real and knowledgeable people that have helped me many times. The price rating... ultra high cost ... is absolutely false - this is really a very reasonable 2 stars or so. And - this store deserves more reviews - 1 five star, and 1 single star... and the single star comes from someone that looks like a troll in a suit. Check his other reviews. We need local businesses to be supported, and Werner's deserves that support. 'Nuf said. oh yah - Just watch out for the radar traps in town. read more

This store is amazing . been going there since the 1970's. If they dont have what your looking for they will make the effort to get it the next day. A local family run business and they take the effort to get you what you need. a couple of weeks ago I saw one of the young workers actually walk with an elderly person and help carry their items. I have to SMH at the one star review. People like that wont get too far in life with their get one over on somebody attitude. Its a small world and people remember how their treated even from a worker perspective. At Werners your treated like family. read more

This is my favorite local hardware store. BBQ 20 pound LP tanks refilled for only $9.99, Husqvarna chainsaw display with the professional models and they service them!, the usual True Value products and Hardware. Very helpful and friendly staff and plenty of parking in the rear. read more

False advertisement and bad customer service! Don't believe the flyers they send to your home. I just went in to Werner trying to buy a 4 feet round kids pool they advertise for 4th of July sale for $7.99 on their holiday sale ad. They tried to sell me the 4 feet round baby pool for $20. What a scam !?! I went to their store with my own tape measure to prove them that they are wrong and called the manager downstairs but she wouldn't listen. She said the the smaller blue pool was $7.99 and the bigger was $20. But again...I measured both pools' diameters myself and the small pool wasn't 4 feet. The small pool was actually 3 feet inside and 3 feet and 4 inches outside. The bigger pool was exactly 4 feet inside and 4 feet and 3 inches outside and that's the pool I should get for $7.99 because that was the only pool at the store matching the advertisement description. Even tough I proved them wrong, the lady ( store manager ) refused to sell me that pool for advertised price. So how much of annual profit they make on us ( on local people ) annually...and they made a big deal over $8 pool? And I understand if I was wrong, but I proved them wrong in front of other people in the store and even their employee behind the counter admitted that the manager should honor the price in the advertisement. The lady was very stubborn even after I told her that they lost long time customer for life. She would not sell me the 4 feet round poll for $7.99 as advertised ! And now I found even better deal in Walmart and that's where I will go ( so should you ). And I can remove this review under only one reason: if the owner or a manager of the Werner True Value store will contact me thru Yelp and will say they will honor the price advertised in their flyer and will apologize. Otherwise the review will stay as is. If I could I would rate them at zero stars... They showed their "True Value" today. Avoid Werner's at all costs! read more

Werner's is the very definition of a hardware store. Ask a question and they have the experience and know how to direct you to the right product. Ever get deer in headlights look from a big box store clerk? Werner's staff knows what you need, how it should be done and they have also recommended products that I will need for jobs that I wouldn't have know till I got to that roadblock.
