On a Sunday night this place is fun! They started karaoke at 9 and it was a vibe. People were in to it the atmosphere was perfect. There is seating outside and inside. Popcorn and water and free and self service which I appreciated. Everyone that was in here as friendly, as were the bartenders who were slammed. Stumbled upon this place really for no reason. But I am so glad we did. Let me start by saying it is an experience. When we went, there was karaoke actively happening and everyone in the crowd was super into it, which was great. They have a great beer selection. Unfortunately, the one I chose the keg ran out just as they were pouring so it took a while to get this one- they did offer to get me something else so to no fault of them. The staff are incredible. Each bartender introduced themselves for no reason and did actually remember our names throughout our time there, which was shocking. Located in downtown San Diego across from Horton Plaza, this smallish spot looks and feels like a dive bar but it's not. The food and cocktails are far, far better and more upscale than you would find in any true dive bar. And I say this with no offense to dive bars, which I love. It's not a dive bar but Werewolf has a lot of character, as werewolves do, I suppose. Most of the appetizers sounded great but our bellies were only big enough for dinner during our visit. We tried the Waterfront sliders (which were very good) and the Bourbon Bacon burger which is basically a western bacon cheeseburger. The burger was just slightly overcooked but the flavor overall was excellent. It's a big burger, by the way. Both dishes came with a ton of fries which were very crispy and well-seasoned. The kitchen here knows what it is doing. For a cocktail, I tried the Aero Club Whiskey Sour which was both beautiful looking and delicious. If you haven't figured it out by now, I believe this place is owned by the same owners as that classic and wonderful San Diego semi-divey bar (Aero Club) and that other classic and semi-divey fun San Diego restaurant (the Waterfront). They apparently do karaoke every night here but we were too early to enjoy it. Our service was off the charts wonderful. The decor is cool and funky. The music playing on the sound system was loud and fun. The long bar counter seemed to be the center of action with a bunch of normal customers looking for food, drinks, and fun, and one semi-crazy person who couldn't stop yelling. Hey, you are in downtown San Diego. You didn't think you would encounter any crazy people? This is a super fun place with great food and excellent service. I didn't see any werewolves, either on the menu or in the restaurant, but I would have given six stars if had seen one. read more

Quick visit to San Diego for the weekend and after a long day/night of visiting breweries, woke up starving and looking for something fun and different for brunch. When we the last time (if ever) that your waiter came to the table and shook your hand to introduce himself? GREAT service could be seen across the whole place. The breakfast burrito was pretty standard but very tasty. The big winner was the chilaquiles roja. One of the best I have ever eaten in Southern Los Angeles! It's a bit noisy inside with the DJ doing a great job so be ready for some noise, but the whole place is very upbeat and moving so it fits perfectly. Werewolf is an awesome little spot and comes alive at night when the karaoke starts lol. As me and my wife were bar hopping we stopped by at werewolf and enjoyed some of their beers and got some sweet potato fries . Our server Chris was awesome and quick about getting our drinks and food. They have complementary popcorn and water to make sure you can balance off your buzz and the karaoke was a lot of fun. I debated on going up and doing some Led Zeppelin and i regret not doing it . For that very reason we will be back for sure. Came back a few years later to find out they have karaoke every night after 9pm!! Get there early because they are on the smaller side, we went around 10 and they were at capacity- so we went elsewhere. People started leaving around 11pm and we got in! I recommend putting in your song request ASAP since they do have a long queue and might not be able to get to it before they close. We love this spot it's a heavy handed and very happy high volume space where the entire wait staff works well together to make things happy for you who patron it! They have the biggest and best portions. We recomend the Bloody Mary and the Bottle Of Champagne accompanied with the breakfast burrito and tacos! They have a great dj and even sell hush puppies which for those of you from the south, it's so nice to see on the west coast! This is definitely a bar vibe -- there's a live DJ (at noon!) and the place was popping. Many birthday shots and all around a fun vibe -- I'd love to stop by for karaoke sometime. The food is incredible. I got the Pork Belly Benedict and the flavors are so good! I don't think the avocado really added much to the dish though so I wouldn't add it again, but I most definitely would eat that Benny every day if I could. The staff is super friendly and personable. I liked they asked our names and made a point to chat a bit. Right on Fourth, we also got to watch a holiday parade go by that we didn't know about. Super fun. Absolutely love this place! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was on point. The service was top-notch--our original server was super friendly and even introduced the person covering for him while he went on break, which was such a nice touch and made everything feel seamless. We came here for breakfast on Christmas Eve at 8am. There were a few people at the bar eating and drinking...surprising to me being it was Christmas eve and early in the morning. The weather was very weird where it was super windy and looked like it was going to rain BUT it was unusually warm like 75 degrees out. The bartender greeted us when we walked in and was super friendly and cheery. He was definitely in the holiday spirit for working on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day. We didn't order any alcoholic drinks but the bartender kept our soda and iced tea filled the entire time we were there. I ordered the Chicken Hash which was surprisingly good. When I read the ingredients on the menu I didn't think I would like a few of the things but it actually all went really well together. Needless to say I finished the plate. My boyfriend got the Triple Threat Burger and he cleaned his plate as well. I loved the french fries because there were super crispy....not like the nasty In N' Out soggggy ass fries. I didn't realize Werewolf is open at 7am EVERY DAY of the year. Now that I know this we'll remember to come here early in the morning. I live by Harbor Town but they don't open til way later in the morning. Honestly this is one of my new favorite spots in San Diego - absolutely will be coming back next time I'm in town! I came on a Monday morning around early brunch time and the place had a couple folks but was not full at all (it did fill up while we were sitting though). Our server Justin was friendly and very helpful with recs! I liked how flexible the menu was - I ended up getting the pork belly Benedict but only a serving of one, the actual menu order comes with 3. That way I could also order a couple pancakes, and I got the pancake of the day (raspberry white chocolate) and a blueberry lemon one, each as singles. I also got the "blossom something" cocktail cause Justin told me it would be rather floral - which is WAS. I loved everything I had an left quite full! Including tax and tip it was like $44, and we were able to each pay individually for what we ordered which I always find to be a HUGE plus at restaurants like this when you come in groups (which we did). There was another floral cocktail on the menu that I really want to try sometime... plus other pancakes and fun brunch things so I'm determined to make it back sometime! I found this place last minute before we headed to the airport. It wasn't busy yet because we came early. We sat inside by the window that shows the outside view. They had $16 Wycliff champagne bottles with a side of juice, I chose pineapple. I ordered the Cali burrito and me and my mom shared it. I will say it was good , steak could've been more seasoned. A must try! I really don't give 5 stars much but this was one I was very impressed by. Was in town for the weekend & stopped in for Brunch hours before we were flying out. So glad we did. What a way to top off the weekend. We dined at a number of restaurants throughout the weekend for breakfast lunch and dinner but this was by far the best service out of all the restaurants. Our server Mike was amazing! Awesome personality super funny. The DJ was awesome too. Overall, every staff here was awesome. The food is great & loved the ambiance & loved the lively music. However unbeknownst to me, the server who checked me out changed the tip to $10.30 which is exactly 20%. Wow, is that what you do??? That is fraudulent! Its not the $.30 but the intent and gall behind it. I didn't notice until I returned home from vacation and reconciled my receipts. The staff state they share tips. Great vibe and friendly, busy but attentive servers helps, but they could have been absent jerks with food this good. The California burrito was packed with no filler. Every bite of this (misleadingly small) filling and sturdy burrito was either potent garlic french fry or lean steak, all complemented with jack cheese, sour cream, guac, and yummy house sauce (and salsa on the side). You MUST ALSO order the Sans la Croute. It's basically a Peanut Butter and Jelly Crustable french toasted with donut icing. Split the four halves with your tablemate(s) or wolf one down yourself. The Diet Pepsi wasn't gross, nor was the big glass overly packed with ice, so I didn't have to wait for refills. My tablemates loved their hearty Bloody Marys and gutbusting, lean pork belly benedicts. I cannot recommend a restaurant south of Long Beach higher than Werewolf.
