So, I decided to take my dear son to Gringtinos to eat some empanadas, because this Latin-ish restaurant has several different varieties on the menu. We sat down, looked at the menu, and my son wanted a cheeseburger, instead. Oh, kids! You gotta love them, right? (Right?) Luckily, Gringtinos has a kids menu that includes a cheeseburger, as well as a quesadilla and boneless wings. My son said that the cheeseburger was the best that he's had in a long time, so there you go. If you want a great kids' cheeseburger, visit Gringtinos. I was there for empanadas, so I got us a few: barbacoa, chicken, ground filet and street corn. We loved all of them, but the ground filet was probably our favorite (it was basically ground beef). We also ordered the yucca fries, which are served with white queso. They were like regular potato fries, but more earthy and dense. One order can feed two or three people -- they're very filling, with an interesting texture. I'm glad I ordered them. The service was OK, but we had to ask for plates, even though the server saw us dripping empanada juice all over our napkins. (It's like, hello! Yes, plates would be good. Bring us plates.) I'm also not a fan of servers not writing down my order, and instead, trying to memorize everything I say. I'm not impressed! It makes me stressed! Please, for the love of everything that's holy, just write down my order. It's truly OK to write things down. I promise. The construction around Gringtinos is murder, but don't fret. There is parking in the back, off of a gravel road. Once you park, enter through the back and you're good to go.

I've been looking for a simple buffalo chicken sandwich. You used to be able to find these everywhere- just a simple chicken breast tossed in buffalo sauce. I saw a few things that were similar on the menu, but nothing quite suited my craving. I asked the waitress if they had a basic buffalo chicken sandwich, and she recommended something from the menu called "the boss". I took her recommendation and ordered "the boss" with chicken, pepperjack cheese, and tossed in hot sauce. It took a while for my food to come out, but when it did, I was impressed. My sandwich and fries were both piping hot and freshly made. The sandwich was much larger than I expected- almost like a big tenderloin. The sandwich was not tossed in the buffalo sauce as I had ordered, but there was a fair amount of hot sauce on top of it. The chicken was excellent- very big and juicy. The breading had the perfect amount of crispness. I was very happy with the taste. I would go back for this again, but maybe try during their "off hours". Dinner always seems jam-packed.

Service was great and we started with the soft pretzel - three came in another and it was served with beer cheese and spicy mustard. They were the long pretzels and our teens loved them. They mostly have burgers but you can sub chicken or impossible burgers for any option or create your own. They also had a few chicken sandwich options. We ordered the pimento jalapeño burger (bacon, fried onion, pickled jalapeño and BBQ) with fresh cut fries and chicken sandwich with fries. The fries are fresh cut and were fresh and delicious - would probably go back just for the fries! The Chicken tenders was the real show stealer - it came with 6+ tenders and was a huge meal. We will definitely be back!

I have now made my husband a fan too, and he doesn't even like chicken tenders. I also enjoy the Garlic Three-Cheese Burger, but the tenders have my heart. I keep returning for this sole reason. I often order them to-go and the carry-out process just isn't as smooth as it once was. You can place your order for curbside pick-up, but the two times that I've done this, nobody ever came out. When I go inside to pick-up, I'm sent to an area near a door and a carry-out sign. Often times, there is nobody manning this "station", so I've stood there hoping that someone would ask me if I've been helped. Years ago, the bar handled to-go orders, and this was a much smoother process. I've dined in a few times and the service, and our experiences were just okay. The bar is generally kept very dimly lit, and the main dining room feels quite bright in contrast. The decor, or lack thereof, is blah. I maintain, however, that the chicken tenders are still the bee's knees!

Self serve fountain drink station A couple tvs and not a ton of seating and it was very quiet as they weren't busy on a Monday night They do charge a service fee for card. The burgers were all cooked to perfection, everything tasted fresh and well seasoned and you could taste each ingredient in the sandwich. I thought the chicken was good but nothing special My hubby thought the same about the falafel The burgers are where it's at The onion rings has a nice crunch and weren't too bad just a little greasy Sidewinders fries were a huge portion and enough for 2 people to share. Not spectacular, but good. The Sidewinder fries were nicely cooked. The star of this show was unexpected; the Caesar side salad was presented beautifully and was an unusually large portion (being that it was just a side item). Ambience: They're in a relatively small space. It's a burger bar, so it is what it is, but at least the building is in a nice place in Carmel. Service: You order at the counter/register, and they bring the food to your table. Service was prompt. Those three categories were all good, but I think this was just a case where the whole seemed less than the sum of its parts. They do appear to offer boxes of sliders as a take-out item, so I may try that in the future.

Beautiful space. Warm feel. Exactly what the evening called for. Our server Jill M was the real story. She greeted us warmly, asked if we had questions about the menu, and when we mentioned my wife has Celiac Disease, she didn't flinch. She walked us through every option carefully and honestly. That kind of attentiveness is rare, and it mattered. Here's the honest part: the kitchen uses a shared fryer, which limits options significantly for anyone with gluten sensitivity or food allergies. My wife made it work, but the choices were thin. For a restaurant at this level, I'd love to see that change. Food allergies aren't going away, and guests who want to celebrate special occasions deserve more than a gluten-free bun as their only path forward. The food was genuinely delicious. Drinks never ran dry. Jill was never far. We all left saying it was a great meal. Four stars, and I mean it. Jill earns five on her own. I'd go back without hesitation. I'd just hope the kitchen catches up to what the front of house already delivers.

The BBQ poutine fries were so big on the tray that I felt a little ostentatious as I was carrying the tray back to my table. It felt like all of the food on my tray surely should have been going to a family. But no: All of these BBQ poutine fries were just for one gluttonous person (me). Every so often, I would get an enormous fry that was way bigger than the others. It was more like a steak fry! It was like a little baked potato. It was nice to have that variety in the appetizer (which I was treating like an entree because, again, I was eating this giant appetizer by myself without shame). One of my children opted to get the kids meal here, which is the mac & cheese with a side (he chose fries). The mac & cheese is cavatappi pasta, so it's that pleasing curly texture that kids love (my kid loved it). You order at a counter and they call your name for pick up. They have a small seating area. There are four 4 top tables. There is one 6 top table. The tenderloin sandwich was large. You can get a large sandwich for $10.95 or an extra large for $13.95. They have over 20 different condiments to add to your sandwich. For sides, they have french fries, onion rings, mac & cheese, baked beans, and chips. They are priced separately. They serve Coke products, which we really like! Our tenderloin sandwich was served hot and fresh. We got it with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and onions. They have a variety of sauces you can add as well. Since the seating area is small, my wife snagged us a table while I went to the counter to order. This was probably our mistake. Our order was priced incorrectly in that we only got the tenderloin Tuesday discount on one of the tenderloin sandwiches. We probably both should have gone to the counter and ordered separately. We got sauces on the side and my wife got the ranch and I got the fiery ranch. However, when we picked up our bag at the counter, my sauce was not included, although it was on the printout of our ticket. So, technically you could say both our order and our bill were incorrect Although the bill, you could say, was also our fault since we did not order separately. That being said, we have gone to other establishments on Tenderloin Tuesday and had one bill and we both received the discount. The tenderloin sandwich was OK and fairly priced given market conditions. Would we return? If we were on the far east side of Carmel, we would stop in again. However, we would not drive all the way here from the far west side of Carmel just for the tenderloin sandwich. If you are near their location, stop by and give them a try.
