Hot Honey Spicy Chicken Sandwich (aka #12) with an all natural lemonade and chocolate chip cookie.
Shianne P.

I'm completely hooked on the #12 Hot Honey Spicy Chicken Sandwich meal. I get the all natural lemonade and add a chocolate chip cookie. It is delicious. This location has very nice folks that work in the drive thru.

I absolutely loved this place! The atmosphere alone made me feel like I was in Florida instead of…read moreConnecticut. It has such a great indoor/outdoor feel with the sliding doors, open-air setup, and that whole relaxed, warm-weather vibe. It's definitely different from the typical Connecticut farmhouse-style brunch spots. They also have a bunch of different mimosa flavors, which is honestly hard to find around here. I had to get the passion fruit, of course, and it did not disappoint! I ordered the chicken and waffles, and they were SO good. The bacon on top and their special sauce really took it to another level. It was packed, but for obvious reasons. The food, drinks, and atmosphere are definitely worth it. I'll absolutely be going back, and I definitely want to check out their Massachusetts location too!

We have always found the food to be very good. Served quickly. The portions are large enough, nothing crazy large, but filling. This time we my wife had the Rubin and I had the turkey club. Both sandwiches were tasty and the onion rings were OK. They lacked flavor and what I did pick up was the taste of uncooked flour. I like the coffee and wish I could have had a 2nd cup with my meal but our waitress must have been in the witness protection plan. After she took our order we didn't see her until we were finished with our meal. I did get a 2nd cup of coffee to drink while going over our bill and anguishing over her tip. Yes, we still left a tip. Yes we will still go back because the food is good. I'll get the fries next time.

With things getting so…read moreexpensive, it's very refreshing to see a place that can give a lot of value for a reasonable price. The restaurant is fairly small, but the portions are big! I got the disco fries as an appetizer and they were a delicious combo of gravy cheese and seasoning. You could also tell by the bite and the shape that they were made fresh which is also a big plus. I got the hungry bull burger and they were accommodating with substituting the horseradish crema for the house sauce. You would think double meat might be a bit much but it works well and the onion straws really make it shine. Finally I got the strawberry milkshake which was probably better than any shake shack milkshake I've had! The restaurant itself is also very eco-conscious by participating in newport biodiesel, so its great to know that not only are you getting a good meal but the restaurant you are supporting is also helping the people of the connecticut.

This place was well reviewed, so we decided to make this the spot this time around. Ordering was done up front, but there were tables to sit at. Missus ordered while I took photos, and the food came out relatively quickly. Took pics and dug in. Sweet potato fries were the highlight. Hand cut, fried and seasoned. With ranch, they were really good. The burger and hot god were good in terms of quality and quantity. The condiments were a little overpowering though, ended up taking over a lot of the dish and really muddled the meat. The meat itself was lightly seasoned, relying on the condiments to bring the flavor. Not bad, but all elements should bring their own identity and add to a meal. The burger felt absent, and although flavorful was lacking that extra bit of salt or fat to make it truly shine. It's not bad at all, just lacking. Everything else was good, the price easily reasonable for the quality. It was just missing those finishing touches to be truly great

WING LOVERS... you might want to put this one on your list!…read more This time Good Eats In CT made a stop at Ideal Tavern in Southington, CT Before getting into the food, I had to give y'all a look around because I really liked the vibe in here. From the dining area to the bar, it definitely has that laid-back tavern feel where you can grab some drinks, catch a game and of course EAT! But let's get to why we're really here... THE WINGS! We went with two different flavors, and just LOOK at that sauce on those wings! Nice size, sauced up and served with the carrots and dipping sauce on the side. Sometimes you don't need anything fancy... just some good wings, a drink and a good atmosphere. Ideal Tavern | Southington, CT Have you been to Ideal Tavern before? It was taco Tuesday with $3 tacos, we got four of them to try, carne asada, pork, chicken, shrimp . All really good. Arturo for dessert and a lava cake. Bothe really good. Well def be back for another happy hour

Now for an appetizer, I decided on their American Nachos. This would end up being a poor decision on my part for they came out far too fast, almost seemed to be only 3 minutes after I ordered them and so instantly I am thinking, "Was this order already made and just waiting for me?" The housemate chips tasted stale and the chili was lack luster at best. Had this taste of bland tomato paste mixed with far too much water and I sad little bean off to the side. I will say that there was plenty of jalapeños in this dish but the overall flavor and bite did not work. Visually, it looked bad and that should had been an indication not to go any further but I digress. Now my Double Day Burger was EVERYTHING!!! Packed with flavor and made with love! Two patties both juicy and well seasoned. Cheddar cheese making for a nice slide on the beef and 2 strips of maple bacon for that salty and sweet connection with a spiced maple aioli that was not only spicy but creamy and sweet. Let us not forget the fried eggs that only elevated the overall taste in the Double Day and something that I would definitely order again. Those crispy tater tots came packed with some fresh potato activity! They were crispy and not overcooked at all. I dipped them into the spiced maple aioli and the playing field was no longer fair!! It took the bite up a notch and I was a satisfied man. For dessert, I went with the funnybone - nice chocolate with the peanut butter ganache, creamy and smooth but I also went with the b cup, much like a hostess cupcake....Rich. chocolate, creamy and with as fudge like consistency, it all just worked together. Great Job to the team at Plan B on this one!

The food was delicious, and the burgers were packed with flavor. The sweet potato fries were very crispy and delicious. I would get the same meal again as would my wife. Crispy on the outside, packed with well-seasoned chicken inside. Good spice, not overpowering. Came with a salsa and a ketchup-mayo style sauce, both worked, but the salsa had a little more life to it. Before that, warm ciabatta hit the table with a house-made dipping sauce. Oil-based with garlic, blue cheese, and a few other layers going on. The blue cheese gave it a subtle kick without taking over. Nice way to start. Now to the burger, the Luger Burger. I'm assuming it's a nod to the classic steakhouse, but didn't get full confirmation. The sauce is made in-house: slightly sweet, a little acidic (I picked up balsamic), smooth texture. It's a good sauce, it just needed a bigger voice on this burger. The burger itself is large. And I mean large. Menu said thick-cut bacon... that wasn't the case. Not a dealbreaker, but noticeable. Now I'm going to get a little critical, because this is where it matters. The burger needed more salt. There's a lot of beef here, and it can absolutely handle it. Even something as simple as salting the tomato would've helped bring things together. If the bacon had actually been thick-cut, that alone might've bridged the gap. This was a very beef-forward burger, to the point where the supporting flavors barely showed up. The patty felt a bit too tightly packed, which gave it a denser bite and let the beef dominate the whole experience. A looser grind or lighter hand forming it would've made it more tender and allowed everything else to come through. It also needed more acid. The Luger sauce was applied lightly, so either lean into it more or bring in something else, a pickle, a sharper onion, something to cut through the richness and balance it out. The bun was soft, nicely toasted, and held up well, which isn't easy with a burger this size. Fries were hand-cut, properly salted, and exactly what you want. No complaints there. Overall, this is a great spot. Clean, comfortable, nicely decorated. Staff was excellent. Food was good, with flashes of being really good. With a few small tweaks, mainly balance and execution on the burger, this could easily jump to the next level.
