No matter what time I go, the service is painfully slow. Even when I order ahead through the app, I'm almost always told to pull into a parking space and wait. To make things even more frustrating, they frequently assign me a parking spot number that's already occupied, which creates unnecessary confusion and delays. The staff also rarely seems welcoming. Most interactions feel rushed, and the overall atmosphere gives the impression that employees don't want to be there. I understand fast food is a demanding job, but basic customer service and organization shouldn't be this difficult. Overall, this location feels poorly managed and consistently disorganized. I stopped at this Del Taco while driving from Phoenix to LA. I needed three things: food, speed, and a restroom that didn't look like the set of a crime documentary. This place delivered on all three. You order from a kiosk, but the employees were all friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself was surprisingly clean for a middle-of-nowhere highway Del Taco. Even the bathrooms were solid, they're outside and locked for customers only, which is honestly fair considering highway traffic can turn restrooms into humanitarian disasters. The food actually looked like the pictures on the menu, which already puts this location in the Fast Food Hall of Respectability. Fries were fresh, the fry container was actually filled up instead of being 40% existential disappointment, and the soda had carbonation instead of tasting like sad brown water. Best of all, we got in and out quickly and back on the road with zero issues. Sometimes the highest compliment you can give a road trip fast food stop is: "Everything worked exactly like it was supposed to." This Del Taco nailed it.

I had just gotten one of those nicely priced haircuts at the student salon of the nearby beauty school. I had to drive past this In-N-Out, being on 111 and roughly at the border of Rancho Mirage and Palm Desert. Unlike many others, I don't fawn over In-N-Out out. I will periodically go into one and eat if I don't have a more specific idea of where I want to eat, so I turned the car into their driveway and looked for a parking spot in their shopping center lot. You have to give them credit for always knowing how to incorporate a drive-through and make the overall scheme work fairly well. I was planning to eat inside and enjoy their air conditioning! I stuck to their easy to order combinations and got a cheeseburger, fries, and a drink. The cheeseburger and fries were fairly good, but not stellar. They feature Coca-Cola products, but also offer a pink lemonade in both regular and lite form. I've had it before and it's very tasty, so that's what I helped myself to. All of the employees I interacted with were very helpful. I was surprised to find the store that busy in the off-season such that it took a little bit of time to receive one's order, but it was not excessive. Given its being in this nicer area, I found the clientele to be fairly diverse yet well-mannered. The interior of the store is definitely clean, and there's always an employee nearby who is cleaning tables as well as stocking condiments and other dining room items. I was sort of clueless about In-N-Out growing up in SoCal, even though I did know it was there. I just stuck to Bob's Big Boy, Norm's, and the fast food majors for eating on the go. Of all places, the first In-N-Out at which I ate was at the Gold Country's Auburn, California location. I was dealing a client situation in that area right off I-80 along with a coworker who came from Vietnam and took some good-natured razzing from us for being a Berkeley grad ... actually the only one in the office. She suggested it, so I steered the car in the direction of that Auburn In-N-Out and, lo and behold, I finally became acquainted with this outfit. As such, I will now periodically eat at In-N-Out and this Rancho Mirage location is definitely recommended.

"This doesn't look at all like the picture. You don't have any whip cream on top or Oreo pieces?" Cashier: "Nah we don't.
