A male food-prep worker with short, dark hair was preparing a salad in the restaurant kitchen…read more While making the salad, he deliberately SPIT into it, knowingly contaminating the food. Despite what he had done, he continued preparing the dish as though nothing had happened. After finishing the salad, the food-prep worker handed it to a waitress without telling her what he had done. The waitress, unaware that the food had been contaminated, proceeded to take the salad out to the dining area to be served to customers. This was an extremely serious violation of food-safety standards and could have put customers at risk of becoming ill. Food should always be prepared hygienically and handled responsibly, and intentionally contaminating food is unacceptable in a restaurant setting.

We had the fried pickle spears, a fried chicken sandwich, and a spicy fried chicken sandwich and they were DELICIOUS. He makes his own buns and bread. They have a great bar selection and many draft beers on tap, so there is sure to be something that you will find that will appease your taste. I looked at the menu for way too long as everything on the menu looks so good. Ironically enough, I settled for the chicken tenders and subbed for sweet potato fries. It was INCREDIBLE! I loved the homemade dressings and the hand breaded tenders. It was definitely not frozen food... it was GOOD! I think it has a fun ambiance inside and they had karaoke on Saturday night, but appreciated that it was not too loud to interrupt dinner service.

My mother raved about how great the relatively new Lost Mesa Grill is and we decided to stop by on our way out of town. I'm vegan due to health reasons and eating out is always a chore for me. We were quite thrilled to see there were several vegan options on their rather extensive menu. We opted for the mushroom, black bean and corn tacos with a side of refried beans. The ingredients were fresh and absolutely delicious! Other items on the menu looked delicious as well, ranging from comfort food such as chicken fried steak to ribeyes to a southwest steak salad or roasted beet salad. (Marinated tofu could be substituted for meat.) Brandon, our server, was wonderful, and being a fellow vegan, he had great recommendations. And to top it off, the owner had a box of vegetable from his overflowing garden free for the taking! This restaurant is a fabulous little gem for any community, much less such a small town and it easily meets the dietary needs of all clientele. (They even have gluten free buns for their burgers.) If you're going through Cedaredge or even if you want to make a detour off Hwy 50, you'll be happy you stopped at the Lost Mesa Grill for a fabulous meal!

Over priced food and rude staff. Will not be back…read more Walked in and a waitress started to seat us at a VERY small table mashed against a corner wall. My 6'5" husband asked politely for a larger table. The waitress gave us a heavy sigh, swooped up the menus, and walked over to a larger table, dropped the menus on the table and walked away! We ALMOST left! Took 35 minutes to get our food. Food (hamburger and fries) was ridiculously expensive considering they weren't all that tasty. Between rude staff, over inflated prices, and very average food, we won't be back!

What an amazing experience at C&J Cafe!…read more This is exactly what you hope to find in a small-town restaurant--a place where people genuinely take pride in what they do. The restaurant was immaculately clean, my drink was never empty, and my waitress was informative, funny, friendly, and simply great at her job. And the food was beyond great! But for me, this visit was about much more than just a good meal. I used to come here more than 30 years ago with my sister. She and my brother-in-law are both gone now, and I wanted to come back and revisit a place that held some wonderful memories for me. I had the opportunity to meet the owner, and to my surprise, he remembered my sister and brother-in-law. He shared some wonderful things about them, and that made walking through the door worth more to me than I can really put into words. I'm extremely glad I stopped. They serve great traditional American food as well as absolutely amazing Mexican food. The service, cleanliness, food, and genuine small-town hospitality made this a very special experience. If you're passing through Delta, Colorado, I highly, highly recommend stopping at C&J Cafe. There is parking out front and plenty of additional parking in the back. Some restaurants give you a great meal. Every once in a while, you find one that gives you a great meal and brings back a few wonderful memories at the same time. C&J Cafe did exactly that for me. Absolutely worth the stop!

The biscuits are huge, so if you get one on the side with your eggs, meat, and taters, you have dessert of a half biscuit with strawberry or raspberry jam or honey waiting for you with that last cup of coffee. Bacon and links are very good. Lots of hashbrowns. Sometimes left on the griddle a minute too long, but very tasty all the same. Dessert or a meal the next morning should be a cinnamon roll.
