Ok so my first time at Wendell's will be my LAST. The waitress aka bartender aka manager to say the least could not take criticism. When she was informed the wings were OVER COOKED AND DRY she became HOSTILE. At that point mentioning the establishment was CASH ONLY a bit to late when she was giving me the bill and clearly yelling at me that i was not getting FREE FOOD. Oh yea and calling me a drunk. Staff was very friendly and atmosphere was very inviting. It did take very long to get seated and getting the check was also slow. Their signature wings were not impressive by any means. The wings were disturbingly small and the sauce barely coated the wings (very thin buffalo wing sauce). I have been visiting Wendell's since I was a young kid, and still enjoy going today. The atmosphere is that which you would expect of a hometown pub, and the wait staff is always friendly and enthusiastic. It's a great place to take the family, or to enjoy a night out playing darts and listening to the digital jukebox box with your friends. Their menu is pretty standard for a pub as well, but I promise you their wing sauces are not. I've been to a lot of wing spots, and IMO this place has the best sauces - and a great variety for everyone's tastes. The most appalling defect for this place is the wait time, and you'll probably read about it in many other reviews. I don't mind waiting a long time for my food but there is a line you can't cross and W*ndells does it time and time again. The boys waited over 1.5 hours yesterday and the food STILL wasn't ready, I kid you not. And the kicker was, it wasn't over the top busy, it was just busy. The wings are 120% previously frozen and to the point where there's no meat on them, it's literally fried skin and bones slathered in sauce. I wouldn't drive an hour to get wings here but... they're pretty good. I'm a buffalo wing fan so I felt it was my duty to go to this place so highly recommended by my fellow yelpers. Despite the look from the outside, this really is more or less a dive bar. I can see it being a great place for locals to get a pitcher of beer and wings. The "regular" boneless wings were a pretty perfect mix of taste and spice. My guest got the "sissy" wings which were pretty much just butter and garlic. Pretty tasty, as were the fries. Amazing Buffalo wings - went during the pandemic and this classic joint did not disappoint!

I have heard people rave about this place and I have to say I am wholly disappointed. I expected to wait a bit (they do advertise that the wait can be long) however we waited to be seated for close to 15 minutes without even being greeted. Finally we were sat by a waitress who looked and acted like she wanted to be anywhere else but there. After being seated, we waited another 10 minutes for the waitress to come over and take our drink and food order. My wife and I each ordered a hot sandwich with fries and an order of wings to split. Both of our sandwiches and the fries were served cold. The wings, which were served after our sandwiches, were way over cooked. At the end it took another 10/15 minutes just to get the waitresses attention to get our check which she initially delivered to the wrong table. Add 2 beers and a glass of soda water the bill came to over $60. With all that being said I do NOT recommend this place. read more

Wendell's is a favorite of mine. Why only three stars? The food is awesome! The service and place itself are not. I understand this place is kind of a dive, but the way it's set up is a terrible waste of space. When you walk in its a wide open room with booths set up around the perimeter of the room with one or two awkward tables in the center. There's a bar in a separate room which is oddly closed off from the main dining room and makes you feel like its for employees only or something. It's dimly lit looks like a dive-style sports bar. No one seats you, which is fine, but the way it's set up makes it difficult to find a table without looking like a fool staring all over the room. And there is no waiting area so if the booths are full then be prepared to stand there, awkwardly in the doorway. The waitresses are hit and miss. We always knew when it was going to be a not so great night when a certain one was there. And yes there's usually only one working. Not that they are rude, but you can tell they're not there to be overly friendly and they are busy and over worked. The food is always tasty which is what always brings us back. I haven't found a wing I like better in the whole area. And their onion rings are so crisp and fresh. I love them. The only issue I have with food which goes back to service is the wait. They say it on their website, there's only two fryers, so be patient. But seriously, it's a little absurd that in a restaurant with basically all fried items that they would only have two fryers. It really does take quite a few minutes for your food to come which can be annoying when you're starving. Their prices are also a bit steep. For the two of us to get wings, fries, soda and blue cheese (which they charge for) it ends up being a little over $40. Ok so I know this sounds really negative and I picked it apart a little, but I had to be honest. Will it prevent me from going there? Heck no! And it shouldn't stop you! Sorry, but not impressed. I ordered the "Suicide" level of heat (boneless) wings, and they were not spicy at all nor crispy. This is the second-highest of 7 heat levels Wendell's offers ("Double Dare" being the hottest - for which they charge an EXTRA $4.00). This on top of a 1 1b. serving of wings (boneless or bone-in) for $9.95; NO celery or blue cheese included - a bit steep. You can get blue cheese dressing, but be prepared to pay an extra $1.50 for what is generally an expected part of a serving of wings. (A minuscule container of coleslaw - less than half a cup - is $1.75). The overwhelming taste of the "Suicide" wings is vinegar - no real heat or discernible spice to speak of. Not only that, but while the meat was good, the wings were not crispy - the coating just fell off in sad crumbs. We waited nearly 45 minutes for ONE order of wings and a BLT. Never again. Save yourself some disappointment and go to Buddy's Union Villa in Easton instead. read more

I went to Wendell's for the first time last week and it was a great time! This place is about the wings. That's it. Allegedly, the bone-in wings are the way to go but I had the boneless which were awesome. They stayed crispy throughout my consumption of a double order. As people have said, you get NOTHING but wings with your order, so you have to pay for extra sauce or bleu cheese if you want it. I think that's crazy but as long as I don't go here too often, I won't think about it too much and the frustration shouldn't take any years off of my life. Mozz sticks are good. Fries are crinkle-cut and nothing special. One guy in the group had a hamburger and said it was "alright". I get the feeling that everything they serve comes in the door pre-made and frozen except the sauce for the wings. They just lucked out and hit it out of the park with the wings. I only had the spicier half of the sauce spectrum; 3.5, extra spicy (side) and suicidal. 3.5 was very good and had a good level of heat to eat a couple orders without discomfort. A couple of us split the Suicidal and those had excellent flavor and a slow burning long-lasting heat that limited us to a couple wings each. Sure, I'll come here again, mostly to give the Double Dare a shot and because my friends LOVE it here.
