I had also used them during the heating system to diagnose a problem. it took 6 weeks and 3 visits. It only got fixed when I went to the prior owner. They were sending technicians who were unqualified. One technician did not know the difference between an electronic air cleaner and a humidifier . He also tried to sell me on replacing a saddle valve. $700 for a $20 part and 10 minutes of labor. I did it myself. I am not the only person in the town having these issues. I contacted a locally owned HVAC company. They were out within the week. They asked me who had done previous work on the outside AC compressor. We had a service contract with Weltman. In prior visits, the service was fine - easy, seemed knowledgeable. But our last experience with our HVAC units was TERRIBLE. - MULTIPLE DIAGNOSES: each one different and with incomplete information and could never get to what our real options were. I had to do the investigation and ask questions to try to figure things out - and even then, I could not get a straight answer. - OVERPRICED: the last estimate they provided quoted primary heat exchanger replacement only and when I asked about warranties, they then came back and said we also needed to replace the secondary heat exchanger and wanted to charge $2500 extra for labor (in addition to ~$5k for the primary heat exchanger labor) - I later found out from other providers that it should not be that much more work to install the secondary vs. the primary. It just seemed like they were double-charging for work. - POOR RESPONSE: I am noting that a number of the individuals who helped us were very professional. However, I had an awful exchange with a customer service rep after a particularly frustrating experience where I waited the whole day for the service team to arrive (for the third diagnosis!!), only to find out that they cancelled the call (even if they seemingly had their reasons) ... because this time, they had called my husband's number instead of mine (which they had no problems calling on previous occasions) and the voicemail had gone to junk. The service rep was blaming and berating me instead of listening to my concerns. I shared my experience with the company multiple times - and no one called me to address my feedback. The technician arrived hours late, then didn't have the needed $5 part on the truck. I told him to go to Home Depot which is ten minutes away and get it. I even offered to go myself, while he took a break. He stubbornly refused, and tried to improvise something, wasting over an hour on a simple job that should have taken five minutes. I had an extremely bad experience with this company. My basement had a water issue due to the heavy rain. I called this company after searching on Google. I should have checked here before I called them. It has so many good reviews on google. Anyway it turned out to be the worst experience with all the contractors. The guy came to our house, walking around for 20 minutes and told me he could not do the work since it's not plumbing work. It sounds weird to me since I asked whether it's a sump pump issue, and he didn't check on that. He said it's a foundation or waterproofing issue, which he didn't do. So I said OK and he said he would charge the BASIC fee. He didn't show me or tell me what the total charge would be. I thought it was the visiting fee of 150 dollars, which I agreed to over the phone. So I signed on his iPad. And guess what, my credit card was charged over 1100 dollars for his 20-30 minute visit. And my problem was not solved at all. And his diagnosis was incorrect too. I had another plubmer coming and figured it WAS the failure of sump pump. Based on my experience, I will never recommend this company to anyone. They are not professional and extremely expensive. Hope other people have better luck with this company. read more

I called to ask for an expert in leak detection. Dispatch service reiterated I would get an expert using special equipment to find leak. I got charged $150 for dispatch fee for no expert service. The service man was not going to perform any service that was not already done, not an expert and equipment not specialized. I tried to call the company to ask why I was still charged a $158 fee and no work performed; they would not reverse the charge. They said I should have listed all the services I had done to my system, not on them. However, within 5 minutes of service man arriving he was trying to sell me a new system. My current system is not old enough for replacement. You cannot get anyone on the phone that will help you outside of a "canned response" from their disbatch service in another state. The disbatch customer service representatives are not knowledgeable and will talk over you. Be careful using this service. I cannot recommend them. read more

I would never recommend this company to anyone not even my worst enemy First of all you committed to coming out on a Friday and called me a half hour before coming saying that you could not make it. Then you committed for me to be the first client of the day the following Monday and did not arrive here until after 1:15. Then your plumber looked at the Kitchen sink faucet and said that it would cost me $1100 to replace a faucet And that was only for the service. I then asked him how long it would take him. He said no more than an hour and a half so according to my math that is over $700 an hour. Are you guys kidding me? Then he proceeded to say that I had to give him $152 just for the estimate. This company would charge us a monthly fee for a "special membership" that guaranteed 24/7 service. However on two occasions when we were out of heat (they had installed the heater) in the later evening/night and called them, we were literally told by the person who took the call that they didn't have anyone at night - not that the technician was on a different night call, but that "all technicians had gone home." That person also told me they did not know why they had that 24/7 information on their website and it was not the first time they had to deal with it, the misalignment between company's promises they charge you for and what they actually provide. After a long and stressful conversation with the manager they returned us one or two of those $20 monthly fees (and even that was after a long conversation, initially they were not going to do that). So, naturally, we cancelled the monthly fee that covered free diagnostic calls. Next time we called when heater was not working, we were told to pay a $149 service call fee. read more

Upon calling Weltman Home Services we were given an appointment on Wednesday, and got a call towards the end of the day saying they cannot make it. The technician ended up coming out on the following day. I called the office because the charge to put in one transformer was ridiculous and was told a manager would call me back and they never did. They could not find the existing transformer and the only way to fix our issue was to install a new transformer in which they installed right next to our washing machine and connected to a GFI outlet. Once the electrician left we noticed our top floor thermostat continued to run while we had it turned off ( nice gas bill we will get this month!!) Not only did they overcharge for the initial service, but they ended up causing more electrical issues for us. Do not recommend. They sent another electrician out today to fix what the first one messed up and I was told that I needed a HVAC tech and there was nothing he could do. read more

Unfortunately - they simply did not work out for us. Put in a partial request via Service Magic and even though did not complete the request, I was contacted by Weltman (that by itself should have thrown tons of red flag). Fill valve assembly needed replacement and I had the new washer and assembly already purchases. I was told the visit charge would be around $49, which would be taken off from the final bill, if we authorize repairs. Estimate to replace the washers and the fill valve - $306!!!! That's for something that's less than 30 minutes of effort. Heart surgeons - make a note of this - you went to the wrong school! Needless to say - paid $49 + tax for the man to "show up" but did not go ahead with repairs and decided to do did it myself. Plan to file a complaint with better business bureau. read more

Saving grace for the company is the tech (Bob) was knowledgeable and professional - after that the story is the same as many other reviews - the cost. Estimate was almost twice what other outfits estimated the job would be (they wanted over a grand for two ceiling fans installed - and the electrical was already in place). Hell, in the end just bought a 12 ft ladder and did them myself. Short version a true waste of 20 minutes of my time and an $89 (make that $94.90 with tax) service fee. Hard pass. read more

Given the uncertainty, I thought I should get a second opinion. Two days later I had a second company out who diagnosed a completely different issue. I called Weltman to let them know what the other firm said, and asked if they would come out to validate this other opinion. The said that they would "have to" charge me another $160 consultation fee to come back out. The service manager was offended that I had sought another opinion. In the end, I had another firm (C&D) out who diagnosed the same problem as firm #2, and they fixed it a few days later. My exchange with the service manager at Weltman was awful...that, combined with the fact that they misdiagnosed the problem to begin with, led me to post this review. Believe the reviews about over-charging, and dishonest business practices. Avoid this company entirely. Paid $89 for a quote to change a 6-50 plug to a 14-50 plug. There is a sub-panel rated to 100 amps already installed in the room. I needed 50 amps on the outlet, up from 30 amps. Technician outright lied; told me that I only had 50 amps for the entire sub-panel, and that I needed to upgrade the sub-panel to 100 amps, plus swap out all the breakers. In order to do this, they would also need to run a new line from the main panel. Total estimate for the work: $6000. Another electrician came by a week later, told me that I had enough power, and the panel is rated to 100amps - just needed to add GFCI, a disconnect, and change ONE breaker in the su-panel to 60 amps (from 30 amps). With running a totally new line....total estimate for work: $1300 I paid the $89 assuming the cost would be reasonable, and was willing to pay a slight premium on top of that to have the work done right then and there. Ultimately Weltman has lost a customer. And I have no issue telling anyone to avoid this company. Dishonest. read more

Had to call for electrician service; they charge a $98 fee for coming to the site but said they would deduct it from the work performed -understandable.Electrician spent 15 mins at my home and fixed the problem which was due to two wires touching inside one of my electric outlets that caused the circuit to trip in my fuse box. (I had already tried to trouble shoot on my own) they separated the two touching wires and charged me a grand total of $380 (that is AFTER they deducted the $98 fee for coming out). .. I thought they were kidding when he told me the charge - they were not. I was obviously stunned at the charge and he explained that it was because they had to remove a couple of outlet covers to find the problem outlet. (Which they did with a manual screw driver - when I saw this I was going to lend them my power drill - good thing I didn't) ... The worst part was that he said "I'm going to go easy on you and charge you $380 instead of $478" (which is just the charge plus the $98 fee that I already knew should be deducted from the 'work' performed). Claimed the drain was leaking And estimated the replacement cost at $554.It was leaking, but I fixed it by replacing the dried out putty in 15 minutes and at no cost. The pop-up worked just fine. Called and was told the manager would contact me. That was two weeks ago. The last time they were here for a Drain overflow, I got the "discounted" price for a hot water heater at $2700. I had used Weltman several times previously for major HVAC work. They were not the cheapest but I was happy with their responsiveness. During Hurricane Ida, our condo basement was flooded, damaging our water heater. We patiently waited 1 week for them to come and give us a price to replace it. Their quote was $4500+ which included $400+ to replace a shutoff valve and $3000+ Rheem 40g water heater... We trusted the company but we also knew that our neighbors paid $1500 for the same exact work. Sure we would've paid a little more for company loyalty... but 3x more? They have got to be kidding. I even followed up and called the office... I gave them the opportunity to fix this and rebuild our trust... hoping that it's just a pricing mistake... This sounds like an honest, ethical approach to business. But what if the prices they quote are egregious? They either spend 2 minutes at your home, and walk away with nearly $100 in a service fee for doing nothing OR they do the job at an exorbitant price. In either scenario they win big and in both cases you lose. I contacted Weltman for a basic dishwasher installation (replacing a broken model with the exact same new model). Onsite, Weltman provided me with a labor cost of $996.94. Let me say this again. They tried to charge me nearly $1,000 for a BASIC dishwasher installation! For the same installation service, retail stores charged me $175. National averages for installation range from $110-$200. Yet Weltman thought it was appropriate to charge at least 500% more than everyone else. If you agree to their labor charge, then they get a huge payday. And if you don't agree, you're out nearly $100 for a 2 minute visit. This was blatant price gouging in an attempt to take advantage of a service I needed. I declined the quote, paid the nearly $100 service fee, and immediately called Weltman to discuss with a manager. The manager at Weltman has refused to return my calls and discuss my complaint. The plumber that came out was fantastic sadly the water here has not worked consistently . After a few months the hot water started going off. No hot water 2,500 dollars later! It has something to do with the detection and when we called they were going to charge us to come back out which seems ludicrous as it's only a few months old and we just paid close to $2500 to put it in. Weltman said whatever's under warrantee has to do with the water heater not their services so they charge to come out. This is the NOT the first time we've used them so this is really unsettling and it says none of this on the receipt. And just before I wrote this I called twice to give them the benefit of the doubt and asked if they could at least give us some advice over the phone. We made an appointment for 4 days out for a hardwired washer/dryer in a rental unit to be changed over to an outlet. I was told they would call 30 minutes ahead and work would likely be done in the morning. I never heard from them on the morning of service, so I called and left a message. They called me back after awhile to let me know they weren't coming out anymore. My tenant took off a day of work for this, and we have Lowes delivering our new washer dryer tomorrow morning which they now can't do since the electrical work won't be done. So this is mixed. As service goes, they came as promised, and fixed the issue in 45 minutes. The tech was awesome. Friendly, efficient, and professional. My issue is more cost. A few of the HVAC companies offerred and several said they include the fee for coming when work is accepted, which it was. I didn't go with other companies as I scheduled this one and they agreed to same day. So for a $50 Thermometer, I paid 750. I'm happy they came, but I'm disappointed in the cost. I think 500 was what I planned assuming they would also add the 129 sevice call into the overall. Had that happened, I'd be at a 5.
