I recently purchased a solar system from Wells Solar. I am very pleased with the entire process. The sales rep Ashleigh T went out of her way to guide me through the many steps involved. I felt that I was very well informed throughout the process. Wells Solar is great at communicating with their customers, which is something I value a lot. There were several people involved in the different phases such as planning, installation and commissioning of the system. All their employees were very knowledgable, friendly and professional. Wells Solar added two incentives to their package that I enjoy a lot. They gave me a free Nest Thermostat which has saved me money on my electricity bill within the first two weeks of using it. Furthermore, they installed two attic fans on my roof which evacuate hot air and reduce the need for AC during the summer. Cannot get a hold on the company by calling their business number and their parts number for the 25-year warranty after the hailstorm 09/24/2023. Also since I owned the solar panels through my home purchase, they only saved about $20/month in electricity so pretty-much worthless. During installation we went without power for 4 days because the electrical was not completed properly and failed the city inspection, They fixed the issue quickly but then had to wait for the inspector to return to pass it. Then they failed the final city inspection and we had to wait over a week for the inspector to return and pass it so the panels could be turned on. The rep apologized, but said they couldn't control the city inspector. My response was that if the work had been done correctly the first time the inspector wouldn't have had to return for a reinspection. We were told that we would be reimbursed for the Oncor fee to shut down the power, but it has been 2 months since I sent the bill to the rep and still no reimbursement. I emailed the rep after the first month and she said it was still waiting for approval. I emailed her again last week but have never received a response. The panels are working great and generating more power than we use although the power company is still not crediting us for the power we send to the grid. We are paying for the panels plus the power we import from the grid. Hopefully they'll have that fixed on the next billing. Not sure that I would recommend this company right now. read more

NOT AN HONEST COMPANY TO DEAL WITH. I went with Wells Solar because I believed them to be honest. I was wrong, it is the exact opposite. They don't even complete their part of the contract. When it is all done and the time has come to issue the rebate check, they won't issue it. No one will give you a straight answer. It has been a nightmare trying to finalize their contractual obligations. An untold number of text messages, emails, and telephone calls has brought no solution to the problem. I have even had health issues in the midst of all of this. I am aware I can file a complaint with the Attorney General for whatever the charge would be for not completing their contract, but I would rather the company be honest and fulfill their contract. It is sad that they take advantage of the working people and then try to stiff them out of the money the contract says they will receive. read more

My husband and I contracted with Wells Solar for a generator. That was in August. We paid the 75% deposit that was requested and now.....crickets. Can't get in touch with anyone. Phone calls go unanswered and emails are not replied to. From everything that I have been to see, they are shutting down. We even drove to the office in Austin and the doors are locked. A man did come to the door and say he was hired for two weeks. Wouldn't tell us what he was hired to but, there were boxes in the office and it didn't appear that there was another person anywhere around. I would steer clear of them. Legal action is next step. Signed up for Wells to do an ultra simple install of a Tesla home EV charger, as they were "matched" automatically by Tesla to do it. What a freaking incompetent mess. Brandon (my contact) has missed two survey appointments. No call no show. I had to call daily for a week to ask him to follow up, which he always promised to do "that day", and then, more no-call, no-action. I paid them $1150 of the $2300 I owed them for 2 additional panels. Well, I paid them July 31 and have not received my panels (now Oct. 2.). I called and they were to install the panels Sept. 7. However no one came out. A representative reached out and said the panels would be installed Oct. 2. However, their website says they are temporarily closed and no one has shown up. They don't even have the decency to tell me that they rejected my referral and why. I agree with other reviewers, they are not an honest company. We signed a contract in April 2022 with a general timeline for installation of panels and batteries of 3-6 months. The initial start of the work was atrocious; continuously poor communication and mishaps on labels causing the panels to be roof decoration for over two months because they were missing parts and couldn't be inspected/activated. We ended up modifying our contract to "install batteries by the end of 2022" and we have not had an update on batteries or when they might be installed in over 5 months past the contract timing commitment. Wells says they have supply chain issues with Tesla however after talking with other solar companies locally Wells seems to have the greatest issue with supply chain management. Wells should not be selling a product they cannot manage or predict. Wells might have great sales folks but their follow through and execution is deplorable. If we could have done this over we would pay 25% more and go elsewhere (probably Freedom Solar). read more

Dropped to a one star. Found out not only did they NOT follow through with their end on revamping the system. They also lied to me about being able to get 2 tax return credits to add to Loanpal before my loan reamortized. But guess what? It was due this month and Loanpal said it's Wells Solars fault. My solar edge inverter quit working on July 30th, 2022. On Aug 7th , I called them and told them I had a issue and they were aware of it , because they got notification from their system. Solar Edge sent my new inverter to their warehouse on Aug 29th, in Fort Worth, TX and I called them today on Oct 5th on any updates. They informed me that the inverter was at their warehouse on Aug 29th, 2022 and now I'm still waiting for service to get them to install the new inverter. Wells Solar does not communicate or let me know what is going on with my repairs. I would never recommend them to any customer or company, because they don't stand behind their warranty in a timely repair process. Their customer service is horrible. LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE. Once they receive their money the communication stops. I'm not all satisfied. They do very little to help you select an energy provider and plan that gives you what they promise. I'm paying for the number of panels they recommended, and the panels are not producing enough to match my usage. My bill with Direct Energy was lower than the Solar financing plus what the energy company is charging. Again, look somewhere else. They have not paid the referral fee. I had used Wells Solar a couple of years ago for my solar panels. The whole installation process from proposal to permitting to final installation went off without a hitch. Decided to add whole home batteries to help out the grid and to prepare for more hot summers to come. They were able to set up a visit by the salesperson, Jon Carroll, almost right away. He was very knowledgeable, courteous, and took the time to answer all my questions. They are a big player in the Austin market and beyond (they completed a solar installation for the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport not too long ago), will do the work as promised, and will get you climate change ready in no time. I tried to call them to see if someone could come out and see if my panels are not working. Nobody will call me back. Numbers are disconnected or if I am able to leave a message, nobody responds. Got a new email from wells solar today saying my account was seriously delinquent, I mailed them a check for the full amount 10/21/2022, apparently they are no more competent with payments than they are with repairing solar panels, so I went through their electronic payment system and paid the full amount yet again, should have sent the check return receipt requested but never thought a business would lower themselves to this extent, they kept hounding me to change my review, and as I said before I only reported exactly what my experience with them was, and now this, these people are not in my opinion credible, my opinion is now much less than it was before, I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

We purchased our panels in September 2022. In June of this year one of the panels was damaged. We filed an insurance claim to have our roof and panel replaced. Per our contract stipulated in the 25 year warranty, only Wells Solar can remove the panels and reinstall after the roof is replaced. We paid 50% or $4K in August to begin process to schedule work. Last spoke to a CSR in Arlington on September 13. Have tried with no success since September 20 to contact ANYONE!!! It appears the entire company is shut down. It was a big mistake for me to deal with this company. Installer did a very poor job on installation, which caused my roof to leaks and damaged my dry walls. When I contacted them to fix the roof leaks, which took them forever to come out and fixit. They did not fix my dry walls, so I have to get a contractor to fix it. They said that they would reimburse me, which they never did. I contacted them (the person I dealt with is Paul Gilbert), but never get any response back. If anyone decided to deal with this company, I suggest that you should go with someone else instead of Wells Solar. read more

One of the biggest scams i have ever fell for. I was sold on the fact that getting solar would save me money. When in fact it has done nothing but cost me $600-$700 a month for electric. The first month my electric bill was $727 plus the $300 loan payment for the solar. Every month since then my electric bill has been $300 + us the $300 loan payment. How is it that my electric bills are the same as they were before the solar panels were installed? Wells solar has done nothing to fix the issue besides try and win me over with a nest thermostat like it would help with my electric bill. Ok, it's been a year since I had Well Solar install my rooftop solar system. The reason I got the system was they told me it would do away with my electric bill. I still have a monthly bill and now a payment for the solar system as well. Even in months that I use less electricity I still get a bill. I look at it now as an investment in the future when I get the system paid off, but I still have the electric bill that Wells said the installed system would do away with. So beware of their sales staff they will tell you anything to make the sale. I was doing some low key googling post the winter storm devastation to find out what it would cost to get solar installed. In order to get some quotes my information was taken and assumed shared with several solar companies. Wells Solar called me a week later to set up a consult. I obliged and Gary came to my house 20 minutes earlier than expected (interrupting a work meeting). I asked him if he could proceed with what he needed to do in order to provide a quote while I finished up my work call. When I came out, the first thing he asked was, 'where is your husband?'. I'm thinking to myself, why are you asking me? He replied that with these types of 'major decisions', Wells Solar requires all decision makers to be at home. Excuse me? I'm the head of the household, I'm the one paying for this, I am the one requesting YOUR services, who are you to tell me who needs to be present from my household? What is this, the 17th century? He proceeds to say that the required presence of my husband was recorded in the notes and he was expected to be there. As Gary continues to insult me as a potential customer, I'm thinking, all I'm asking for is a quote on installing solar panels, not for you to intervene in how I make financial decisions on my property. Basically at the end of all this sexist nonsense, Gary proceeds to tell me he that he is not even giving me a quote, that we have to schedule a separate zoom call to discuss the quote when my husband is present. He also told me all of their reviews are 5 stars. Clearly upon looking at yelp that is a straight up lie. This woman who runs a national organization, owns her home and decided to look into installing solar doesn't need your archaic consult processes that resulted in absolutely nothing but wasting my time. I hire people all the time to provide services, and this is not how one should conduct business. read more
