Going into my mid 40s I was looking for something that would up my cardio and be a little easier on my joints than heavy powerlifting. Everybody here is very welcoming and encouraging! I started out with only twice a week but switched to unlimited after my first month. The coaches are supportive and any work out can be adapted to your needs or strength. The first workouts were tough because I wasn't familiar with CrossFit but I can definitely see changes in my strength and condition after going diligently this summer. Case in point, on day one the owner diagnose an issue that I was having with my form for one of the Olympic, weightlifting movements, which another gym in the areas coaches hadn't noticed for seven months, and had led to an injury. Day one Joe diagnosed the problem and it was fixed without me even asking!There are two sides of the gym, dedicated for electric weightlifting on one side, and the other side, high intensity, interval training. This shit is easily accessible, clean, and has easy parking. It is not a globo gym, nor is it simply an iron fitness. There is space for what you need if it's a casino workout, or you're dropping in for open gym or individual weightlifting session. Coaches run classes on time, one hour, which is not the experience that I have had other community style gyms in the past in the area. American flag over the door, attentive coaches and community, never asking for reviews online (a great plus!), accessible in ten minutes or less from JBLM, Lakewood, all the way up to Ruston. I couldn't be happier with my decision to make the change. The owners are incredibly committed to making sure the atmosphere and environment is not only inviting, but also fun and comfortable. You can tell they care about every single member, as well as non members. They also take great pride in their gym. Their equipment is in great shape and it's always clean and ready to work out in. The trainers are phenomenal and so incredibly talented. It is obvious each one knows what they're doing (which is so important in a CrossFit environment) and that they're passionate about what they're doing. The programming is also another thing I love. You can tell a lot of thought and effort goes into programming each week and that all members are taken into consideration when writing the programming. Then there is the community. I'm a firm believer that the community can make or break a gym. There are so many kind and supportive people at Imperial CrossFit. They are welcoming and helpful and some of the best people I've ever met. I would absolutely recommend Imperial CrossFit to anyone looking for a CrossFit gym. I drive out of my way just to go here. I have two CrossFits closer to me but go to Imperial because of everything mentioned above. It's well worth a few extra minutes in the car so that I can get the quality I do at Imperial CrossFit.
