My wife and I have been shopping at this store #77 Manheim, Pa. since 2008. We have always be satisfied. The Weis assistants are always pleasant and helpful. I use the store's "handicap scooters". I give this place 3 stars because it's convenient to me and they are always stocked with what I need when it comes to a quick pick-up of an item or two. Although sometimes, actually a lot of the time, the customer service skills of some of the employees leave a lot to be desired. I bought some wine there and the employee behind the register was talking and venting to me like I was a friend of his. Curse words and all... I mean, I didn't say anything to anyone because he was actually a nice man. But, I don't think others would be as understanding as I am. It really through me off guard. I have been coming to this Weis grocery store on Doe Run Road for about 6 years now. I originally gave it one star, and that was being generous. I am proud to report that after six years, the store is absolutely no better than it ever was and possibly even worse. Everything about the store is a problem, and 80% of the problems are due to bad management...or a complete lack of management...or a complete lack of caring about providing customers with a pleasant grocery shopping experience. Weis Market Doe Run is terrible the produce, lettuce tomatoes are poor quality and too much $$$. There are always lines (yes even before the country's epic lack of staff) why would I want to buy 6 half gallons of Ice cream to get a sale price??? That's just crazy. Why do the e-coupons NEVER work? Why are the shelves being stocked and aisles congested with carts and staff during operational hours? Well I've been procrastinating long enough. I promised the manager Keith I would write a review only because I wanted to and because I like the store and the employees so much! Some months ago we had a terrible little storm here in Manheim and so much so that it bent the home plate backdrop poles on the baseball field of Manheim High School. Yes sir! It also tore down a bunch of trees on White Oak Rd. At the time I was sitting in the little deli and having a nice beer ( don't want too many to know about it because this is a nice little hamlet!) and I see this crazy man running frantically in the parking lot. Well I thought he was crazy but he was the new manager of the store, Keith. Apparently the shopping carts were flying everywhere or moving fastly I don't recall and he was out there unblocking parking spaces and retrieving them from their paths of destruction. It really was just a bunch of bang up stuff but he was out there like a real trooper. At the time I thought he was an employee! And he is an employee. For the company! When I found out he was the manager I thought most people wouldn't go through that. I mean it was cats and dogs! And windy. Windy is an understatement. It was storming like all hell! Well I am not writing this to flatter anybody but just my observations. Another time a couple of months later I was walking down one of the aisles and saw 2 highschoolers with 2 pallets of groceries mounted to the high heavens and they were having tea time and conversing. ( Now I had my H.S. days and hated stocking groceries) As I turned the corner at the end of the aisle I saw Keith peer down and said to one of the youngsters "excuse me are you bored?" He called him by name but I forgot who and wouldn't mention it anyway. I was hysterical. What a great way to handle the situation. No condemning words, no respite or rebuke. Just like hey buddy in a nice way we are paying you and could you please get on the stick. I learned something that day. Soon after I met him in the vestibule and had a really great conversation with him. A great guy. The store is superbly clean and always well stocked. It is a pleasure to come there. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. If I ever have a problem at self checkout there is always someone to help. I would like to mention some other folks. The lady and a very nice lady Dawn works back at the deli ( and I don't think she has to work. She has done well for herself but likes to stay busy) She handles all the alcohol sales, inventory, stocking. And maybe ordering. A tedious job. She is always so friendly. She showed herself a better person than me because of some altercation I had with heinr which I was wrong. Yep a real fine gal. The other people back in the deli I can't remember their names but they are superb. The manager guy with the mustache is really great. Sorry you get older you forget things. I think his name is Miles yeah I think thats it. Also the guys who are always out in the parking lot. My hats off to you. Im the guy with the blue electric bike who always locks it up by the retrieved shopping carts! Yep Good job. Nothing wrong with a good days work. I always go by the seafood section as I love fish! Kathy seems to me has been there for a long time although I don't know but I asked her today for her name for this review. Sometimes she was in the back and I was only perusing the offerings and she always came out to ask if I needed help. Always courteous and friendly. Anyway to sum things up I hope the powers that be that run this organization take a look at this. Yep this is very well run and I hope this little diatribe might benefit the people who work here because this is the truth! I am from New York City and believe me you will never find a supermarket like this, Yes sir. Share your wealth with the employees. They make this store what it is! I love it here in Manheim and I love this store. Keith is doing an excellent job. I haven't bought a decent steak from them in 10 years. They are either too thin, too fatty, or a combination of both. Everything else about the store is fine. I just wish whoever does their beef purchases knew what a good steak was. read more

I have had very disappointing experiences here. I take a number of seniors here to shop. The entryways are crowded with way too many things - flowers, lawn décor, etc. Because of this, the shopping carts are parked far away from the entrances. They also choose to water their flowers during the busy shopping hours, making everyone walk through water puddles and step over hoses. This is all very inhospitable to handicapped shoppers and those with small children. Also, the staff is unfriendly and incompetent. One of my seniors was standing in a checkout line for a full 24 minutes today because the checkout clerk was so slow. The lines are often 4-6 people in length, because there aren't enough employees to serve the customers. The self checkouts constantly get messed up, and then you stand and wait for an employee to come help which takes quite a while. Lastly, it is very off putting to drive up to your grocery store and see 2-3 employees at a time sitting out front smoking. It is rude, un-hygenic, and gives the store a poor first impression. This location gives the Weis brand a very poor name. read more

Do about 50% of my shopping here. Fits the bill for basic items and staples. Service is always fine, produce is fresh, store is clean and prices are fair. Meat selection is always full and they have a number of specials as long as you have a Weis card. Like most stores they have lots of check outs, but not enough are open. If I had one wish it would be a custom meat section. Since local butcher shops are pretty much lost to history it falls to chain stores, but most are lacking. For custom, fresh meats I tend to shop at Stauffer's newest store. It is the Lancasters' version of Wegmans. Between Stauffer's and S Clyde Weaver you can get all the fresh meat cuts, imported meats and cheese that you need. read more

There to go food section is always lacking. Several times in the past month I have gone between 5:00-6:00pm and there have been out of rotisserie chicken each time. As a quick pick up item at dinner time it would be helpful if this item was available at dinner time. read more

This store is ok for buying the basic essentials. They don't have nearly as much selection or newest products other stores have. What makes me most upset is I feel like whoever is in charge of ordering doesn't keep track of what products actually sell. I see products sitting on shelves collecting dust yet they get rid of products that are popular. Every time I go there I get angry because the product is no longer available. I'm better off just going to Giant in Mt. Joy for all of my shopping. read more

i like to stick to what i know, and manheim Weis is just that. i grew up shopping here and have stuck to it. i know the store layout and are friendly with alot of the employees. there are issues, such as never more then 3 registers open and their self checkout is a complete joke since you have to wait for an employee for 10 mins for every item scanned. the deli prices are jaw dropping, but thats ok as HillTops closer to me anyway. The last which i don't have a problem with, but i know costs them $1000's in loss..they're clearance prices are never ever correct, and alot of sale prices don't get taken down. i don't care bc the overcharged item is then free for me. on halloween alone, i walked out with $200 worth of merchandise for $1.20 because none of the prices were coming up correct, AFTER i had brought the problem to their attention, i even waited so they wouldn't have to give me everything for free. i went in a week later and still the same.so the cashier who was there the last time said, just take them, obviously no ones going to correct it. to me the good things most def weigh out the bad here though. their stock is always great and lots of selection. the meat selection is pretty good, always fresh though! seldom do i have to get a rain check. they clearance items out and offer them neatly, and the sales they run i think can't be beat. also there are so really nice people who work there and don't mind taking the time to chit chat a little bit or go look for something in the back for me. this is a place where you have seen alot of the same employees for 5+ years, some 10+ years and that is just so rare today. so i'd say go, you just might like it! read more
