Smithgall's is probably one of the few surviving non-chain neighborhood pharmacies. It's a typical corner store in a residential area, with beautifully restored older homes. It's the opposite of a big box chain. Smaller selection, however I saw products (Sea Breeze!) that I haven't seen in a store. This may be because the shelves are not jammed with stuff. No self checkout. The staff are lovely and welcoming. The woman at the counter answered questions with cheer, and quickly checked customers out. The prices were...reasonable. A 20 oz bottle of soda cost $1.50 for example, which is on par with others. It's just a lovely place, and I'm sure we'll stop in next time we're in Lancaster, even if it's out of the way.

My mom needed a very specific type of bandage. I knew I could get it for her at Sloan's. No, they didn't have it in stock - it was so specialized I didn't expect them to - but they ordered it that day and I had it three days later. They called me when it came in and had everything including my invoice pulled up so all I had to do was grab the box, sign my name and head on my way. A few weeks ago, my dad had an uncommon prescription. CVS pointed him to Sloan's who, of course, had it in stock and waiting for him by the time he walked to the counter. What I find fun at Sloan's is all of the candy - my old favorites, Mallow Cups and Beechnut gum were there as were other new and vintage candy, mints and gum. I could see myself getting into trouble if I had to wait too long for a script. Sloan's takes most insurance plans including my out of state plan. For durable medical goods, they will submit the claim for you and bill for the difference. They also offer delivery which I appreciate for my elderly parents. Every employee I interacted with was friendly and helpful. It was a nice change from that big box pharmacy down the road.

I had no idea pharmacy providers prices for a Medicare plan could vary that much! My previous pharmacy offered exceptional, personalized service, and I was afraid I would lose that with a new one. Nope! Medicine Shoppe has a great team that provides a great experience each time! Shout out to Meaghan and Linford with whom I have most to interactions...they're both top notch in friendly service, accuracy and having orders ready on time. The Medicine Shoppe also has delivery available daily for a nominal fee. Another service worth mentioning...walk-in vaccinations during regular business hours. Little to no wait. Finally, while I have had an very occasional less than stellar interaction with one or two team members, I whole-heartedly recommend the Medicine Shoppe on South Queen for all your prescription and vaccination needs. I thought it might be a one off so I grilled a second steak which has the same issues. I was told by Restaurant Depot staff that the 11 remaining steaks cannot be returned because of the time lapse even though they were constantly frozen. We recently moved from one apt to another in the same develpement and have had her prescriptions delivered for 5 1/2 years at the same address until our move on 7/2. I have made every attempt to help the drivers know it is a different apt building by contacting the store 3 times with suggestions. Like "can you please when Debi gets the next few refills can you please tell the driver that it is a different building and apt in person !!!!" They will not know~ the addresses are almost identical. Well today, as usually it didn't go as planned. I was told the way they notify the drivers of any changes is on the green slip of paper stapled to the bag!!!! the print is 5xs smaller than the print of The customers name!!!! I am sure after going to the same apt for 5 years when you see the customers name YOU HAVE NO REASON TO KNOW THEY MOVED! When I called the store again to ask if they could do something different!!!! I was told NO. Not only that but Holly who works there muted my call and when I called back the other person who answered the phone said Holly went to lunch and said the call dropped. This is my second issue with miss Holly!!!!!! I worked in customer service for 55 years from selling real estate to managing a convience store...........
