A typical Giant like other ones Ive been too. Clean, huge, with a lot of stock and items to choose from. Came in when I was visiting Hershey with my daughter and was in need of some emergency ear drops because my daughter was in extreme pain from swimmer's ear. I was lucky to check my map and Yelp to see that Giant was only about 2 miles from the hotel I was staying at. We arrived around 930pm and got in and out very quickly. To my surprise, the pharmacy/medicine isles had a nice amount of different ear drops, cough drops to choose from which I was in need of to help my daughter get through the night. I had no issues with this Giant and found that the staff were very helpful when I had questions about where to find certain things. read more

We stopped here for a couple of grocery items on a Saturday evening and I was surprised how empty this place was. For such a nice store it was practically deserted. Perhaps it caters to locals who know to shop during the weekday (when all the visitors are at the nearby Hershey park?) Disappointing. Every time we go to this store there are 4 '25 or less' checkout aisles not being attended by employees. If you're not going put an employee there get rid of them. This used to be a solid place to shop, and when we first moved here we thought of it as Our Grocery Store. No more. Done. Customer service seems only to be a Giant afterthought. A couple weeks ago I just needed a few things; there were no small carts in the store--none in front, none I could see in the parking lot corrals. I finally asked; the manager said, "Well, there're a whole bunch of 'em out back waiting to get repaired." Well that's helpful. But for this Giant, it's about what I'd expect: Carts out back. Sometime in 2017 they stopped carrying good, sliceable sourdough bread and replaced it with crappy "panini" bread (what is that? Hey, Giant--"panini bread" is Not A Thing). Just because you put a "sourdough" sticker on it doesn't mean it's actually sourdough. Nope--this is sub-par heavy white bread, probably with a small amount of a sour ingredient added. But it's not fermented, raised sourdough, and it's TERRIBLE. And I do mean: terrible. And expensive. The previous 1.5-pound loaves were about $3.50; a half loaf of the halflife stuff is $5.00 for 8 slices--yes, that's four sandwiches. The produce department has improved a bit but I still find waterlogged cilantro and spent lettuce. You have to check onions carefully to avoid getting mold. If you're at Giant after 8pm, forget customer service. Forget any service that isn't you getting yourself what you need, and be prepared to wait.... Oh! Sorry. I was waiting so long I started reading a check stand magazine...waiting to check out. I refuse to use the self check-out because a) pro checkers are way faster and more efficient than I am; and b) checking represents a reasonably-paid union job that I don't want to see disappeared and replaced by automation or DIY. (We all see what you're doing--getting us to do the work, but not lowering the prices to reflect the fact that customers, rather than paid employees, are doing the work. Not cool.) If you want to honor the work of checkers jobs, you have to wait to do it. Every department at Giant is understaffed. Try to get your bread sliced. Ha! And if you happen to need a manager, good luck. And if you ask the manager to check on a product like when I asked Chad to check on the aforementioned Missing Sourdough Bread, don't count on them getting back to you when they say, "Give me your phone number and I'll let you know what's going on with that." Yeah...nope. Finally, beware the Starbucks. It seemed so awesome to have one, but it would be good if it would actually train its employees to treat customers like they matter and to pay attention to the counter rather than talking. I ordered a latte. Then the cashier complained to the guy making the latte that she needed him to reset something on the cash register after he was done. Instead of waiting, he left my latte half-made and went to the register to ogle it and talk to her for a full two minutes. Then finished making my drink. Just...could be a LOT better. Ok, so I'm reviewing a grocery store in Central Pennsylvania, but I can explain! During several trips to Central PA I have found myself at this Giant for any number of reasons. Whether it was to purchase a ticket to Hershey Park or a late night trip for Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer, Giant has been there! The store has always been clean, well stocked and had a very friendly staff. From their standard grocery fare to organic and prepared foods this Giant has a wide variety that serves locals and tourists alike. Convenient to the "Hershey Strip" if you find yourself in Central PA and in need of an anytime grocery adventure, give this Giant a chance. read more

WOW! The absolute WORST service I have ever experienced at any store in my life. Literally, every single time after I've shopped at this location (1250 Cocoa Ave, Hershey, PA 17033) I get home and notice that I was charged full price on some of the items that were supposed to have been marked down according to the tags in the store. It's never $10 or $20 so I usually let it go. However, this time I decided to check my receipt in the car before leaving, noticed they charged full price for a tub of Tillamook ice cream that was marked down 50%. So I go back and politely explain to Tammy, the cashier, what had happened and that I would like the balance back or a refund. She gave me a look of disgust and then rudely told me that there's nothing that she can do about it and that I was just going to have to live with it since no one was at customer service. A perplexed pause probably occurred as I was processing her response, but with my manners still in tact, I explained that I either needed a refund or the balance back since this happens to me every time I shop there, and that if she couldn't help me I'd like to speak to a manager or someone who could. She then simply turned around and flat out ignored me. Following this, I did ask her and a minute later her colleague (who had come over for a chat) for her name so I could leave a review. Still ignored by Tammy. The colleague then proceeded to tell me to "get out and go." Eventually, one of the cashiers, a kind and helpful soul by the name of Collin, came over and offered to help me; apparently he's the one who attended the customer service training. He helped me in about 30 seconds and I was on my way. However, on my way out I made the fatal mistake of heading in the direction of going out the wrong way, by pure accident (after all the excitement), this prompted rude cashier #2, who goes by Alexis, to start literally shouting at me in front of all the checkout lines and customers that I was "ridiculous," repeatedly as she was walking away. By far, hands down the most bizarre and unprofessional customer experience of my life! Unfortunately, I will have to bid so long and farewell to this GIANT as I will never spend another penny here. EVER. PS. on my way out I also spoke to the manager, who only offered a very half hearted apology after I explained to her what had happened, how it happens every time I shop there, and the rude and unprofessional service I had received for the audacity of me expecting to pay their advertised price for my groceries! Not once did I become belligerent or use uncouth language, I didn't insult anyone or try to make a scene. Unlike the aforementioned employees. I am from out of town and was visiting the area for a couple of days, and I needed some snacks and hygiene products for my hotel stay. This Giant was in a good location, had adequate parking, and was clean inside. I was able to purchase strudels, sodas, tea, juice, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and water flavor packets that I love but am unable to find back home. Prices were OK. The cashier was nice. read more

This store is already smaller than many other area Giant stores. Now they have even less of a selection because they are making room for wine. They do not have room for wine. I don't care if they sell wine but this store cannot handle it. Five things that I was looking for were no longer being carried, including some of the store brands. The store manager said they did not have the room - less cereal, crackers, rice not in small size, Jell-O and pudding!! Don't know what else they eliminated to fit groceries in a smaller space. They changed the lighting. It is dark and almost claustrophobic. I have decided to find a different store. Gas points are not worth the aggravation! read more

I entered the store at about 930 am 7/29, to pick a few items. I always enter through the produce/floral side of the store. I was shopping less then 5 minutes, when I observed the male manager speaking with a young female employee, I'd estimate his age to be 40 and hers to be 20 at most. The male manager stepped to the female and grasp her uniform apron and polo at the neck, pulling it out and looking inside. I was stunned and horrified. Since when does a uniform check include physically placing your hand on someone and attempting to inspect what if anything the employee is wearing underneath the mandatory clothing. At the time another female employee was behind the floral counter and observed this action, additionally there were at least 3 male produce employees in that isle preforming their duties, I am unsure if they observed his actions. Also there was a female shopper 15-20 steps from the scene, but again I'm unsure if she saw anything. I'm sure the store has video cameras so what I saw can be verified. The female employee hastily left the area and disappeared to the area behind the deli, I did not hear her say anything to the manager, like "don't touch me", I'm rather disappointed she did not, but I guess she felt the need for her paycheck out weighed her humiliation. I made 2 circles around the store trying to find a female co manager or just another manager, but could not. By this time I needed to get moving to get to work on time myself. This could have been my daughter, in fact she IS someones daughter in the Hershey area, I hope ALL parents of employees at this Giant speak with their daughters and follow through if they report this type of assault. I am handicapped. When I need help with getting Items out of wheelchair cart, the cashier is always kind and helpful. They lift everything onto the conveyor belt for me. Someone always helps to put my groceries into my car. These acts of kindness make it easier to carry the bags into my home because Giant employees have used their energy therefore saving mine! Vito, the pharmacist, is the most sincere and helpful and genuinely pleasant and kind pharmacist I have ever encountered. I am on Medicaid for the first time in my life, and, in fact, medical insurance for the first time (and I'm 53), so the whole procedure and bureaucracy was utterly foreign to me. I was issued a card by one agency that expired before I even had a chance to use it. I was told by another agency that I could use my SNAP (food stamps) card to fill my prescriptions before my official prescription card arrived. That didn't work either. As fate would have it, my prescription card arrived the same day that I tried filling my prescription with my SNAP card. Vito called two different organisations in an effort to fill my prescriptions. The second one had closed early so I had to leave the pharmacy without my prescriptions. When I got home, I found the new prescription cards in my mail box. So I called the pharmacy to let Vito know that he did not need to worry about calling the second organisation the next day (which he had graciously offered to do). I walked back to the pharmacy the next day and Vito happily redid all the necessary paperwork so that I could get my prescriptions. My prescriptions are for depression and lack of sleep, so to encounter this sort of kind and positive energy from a total stranger did wonders to help elevate my mood and my soul. read more
