I signed up for the beautiful strength program in fall of 2017 and have continued on to train three times a week with the same group of folks. The beautiful strength series was a fun opportunity to meet like-minded people, and is well-instructed and structured. I very strongly recommend it, even if you have some lifting experience. The facility itself is nice, the gym members are good people, and I'm happy to be a part of the community. Do yourself a favor and check it out!

As someone who is just trying to learn the basics I was made to feel very welcome and comfortable. Strength training is new and difficult for me. The trainer Matt, made sure his instructions scaled to my ability which I found incredibly helpful. Gyms around town have such different offerings/cultures so let me highlight some specifics: 1. It's a studio styled - open gym, with lots of strength equipment: strength machines, kettlebells, weight racks, sled, tires etc. 2. Cardio here primarily involves lifting heavy things rapidly. No treadmills, no zumba classes. 3. It's clean, also they can open the bay door at the rear of the gym for fresh air which is a nice feature. 4. Very welcoming to different abilities, ages etc.

Two weeks after moving I was having dinner with friends and given Nadine's name and number. That is when my relationship with The Fitness Joint began. 10 months later I'm thrilled to say it was the best choice I could have made. I have lost inches, gained confidence, lost body fat percentage, and gained strength. She makes training fun, brutal, but fun. She has a way of encouraging you but also listening to your needs. She talks you through the moves to decide if it's the best one for you. She is always changing things up so boredom isn't an issue. I can not recommend The Fitness Joint enough. And did I mention the new gym space?!? You'll love it! Great environment, great trainer, and great results!

Change can be incredibly difficult. When I moved here from Oregon 9 months ago, I was very unhappy…read morewhere I was at health wise. I had just graduated from college and was weighing at 165lbs. I was always feeling tired, bloated, and weak. For almost 2 months without a job I tried working out on my own. Going on walks with my dog, doing 24 minute HIIT's here and there in my own home, but I wasn't feeling any stronger and wasn't seeing the changes I wanted to see. One day my mom came home from seeing a personal trainer. She told me I would love her and should give it a shot. I had never worked with a personal trainer before. I have been on countless sport teams up until college. I had done workouts with friends. Did a program called BBG my sophomore year of college, but never thought of going to a personal trainer. The first day I went to see Nadine, changed my life for the better. Don't get me wrong, the first day was hell. I could easily see me working out on my own hadn't done much at all after one workout with Nadine. But, I knew I found someone who would push me. So, I kept showing up. I have been seeing Nadine constantly 2-3 times a week for 7 months. I know weight matters to some, so I will share that I have dropped down to 145lbs. I HUGE factor in that is nutrition. Which I am 90% vegan. HOWEVER. I have never felt SO strong. The weight doesn't matter to me. The physical appearance doesn't matter to me. What does matter to me is the feeling of being STRONG. 7 months of hard work. 7 months of her pushing me to places I didn't know I could be pushed, and showing me I'm hella of a lot stronger than I ever thought I was. Nadine wants the best for her clients. If you let her work with you, push you outside your comfort zone, and let her show you how strong you can be, I promise you will not regret seeing this amazing trainer.

Rating: 4/5 stars (Would be 5 if not for a rocky start!)…read moreThe Gym: Great facility, excellent equipment, and a really nice location. The Bitter: I joined for weightlifting and body recomp, but my first trainer completely ignored my goals and health limitations (asthma/dysautonomia). Instead of teaching me to lift, she told me I "wasn't ready" for the squat rack and would push circuit training and resistance bands. Eventually even though i have asthma and limitations she would end up telling me to do cardio. I felt discouraged and watched HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS go down the drain. As a neurodivergent person, speaking up wasn't easy, but I finally went to the PT manager. He paired me with Jack for my remaining sessions. The Sweet: I wish I'd been paired with Jack from day one! He put me right on the dang squat rack during our first session. He actually listened, remembered my physical limitations, and tailored everything to MY goals. He is incredibly encouraging and knowledgeable. The Verdict: The gym itself is great, but the training experience is only as good as your trainer. If you want a serious, attentive coach who actually listens, do yourself a favor and sign up with Jack.

I would never recommend this gym. I found this gym online & it seemed like a great fit for one on…read moreone training. I am active duty military & I let them know I was looking for help preparing for my military fitness exam. I paid in advance to get a total of two months of one on one sessions, I paid a total of $565 via Venmo. My first session was scheduled with Charles Ward, Jr. on Saturday July 10, but then he was in a car accident & cancelled that morning (he was unharmed by the accident). In trying to schedule my second session, it took over 24 hours to get a response. I immediately asked for a refund because I felt that the communication from Charles Ward, Jr. was unreliable & he stated "Pls I would love to work with you." My second session was scheduled for Tuesday, July 13, at 6 am. He cancelled at 4 am because his Uber was late & rescheduled for 6 pm that night. I was able to get trained that night at 6 pm for the first time. My third session was scheduled for Thursday, July 15, at 7 am. I showed up, no one was there. I went back in at 10 am, & was trained for the second time. My fourth session was scheduled for Saturday, July 17, at 7 am, I showed up, no one was there, Charles Ward, Jr. texted me at 9:30 am to tell me it was flooded - he did not apologize for missing our session or tell me if we would reschedule. I asked for a refund, & he told me his phone was stolen. He asked me to give him another chance. The last time I was supposed to be trained was Monday, July 19, at 5:30 am. I showed up, waited outside the locked gym, texted Charles Ward, Jr. at 5:45 am & 7 am. I have not heard back from him at all. I really wanted to believe he was a good person who just happened to be disorganized. Unfortunately, I believe he takes advantage of people & then cuts off communication. In total, I was trained twice - meaning each session cost me over $250. I have tried consistently, politely, & respectfully to get a refund from Charles Ward, Jr. I was only trained twice, & paid for services in the amount of $565. I told Charles Ward, Jr. just to keep the first month, I am only asking for a $250 refund for the second month. He has stopped replying to me all together. As an active duty service member and a medical school student, my pay is already very low. I trusted Elev8te & Charles Ward, Jr. with my money, & frankly feel that I was taken advantage of & am the victim of a scam. I am glad to see that others have had positive experiences, but I also read other reviews indicating that I am not the first young female Charles Ward, Jr. has taken advantage of. This has been a demeaning, stressful, & terrible experience. I would stay away from this gym. I have attached all of my conversations with Charles Ward, Jr. to this review as corroboration. I will update this review if I am ever contacted by Charles Ward, Jr. & if my money is returned to me. As of this post, he has refused to respond. I hope this never happens to anyone else.
