I would hope that someday, somehow, Lifetime would figure out a way to keep their outdoor pool open during the hours it is supposed to be open. If one normally swims at a pool that is currently restricted because of construction, that person has no idea that there are special events at another location. Some of us drive quite a few miles to swim already and are disappointed on a regular basis as we have wasted our time traveling to Lifetime. Yoga "discovery" classes, lightning 100 miles away, poop in the pool etc etc etc make for a less than wonderful membership that seems hardly worth the money. read more

I generally like lifetime. Sure they are more expensive than other gyms, but you're paying for the vibes and amenities. I like that across their franchise, they offer lots of different class option, the option for childcare, which I haven't checked out yet, and towel service. Their life cafe is actually one of my favorite parts. I love the smoothies on the menus. For this particular location, I've found the staff to be exceptionally friendly, the classes to fit my needs and the facilities are always well kept. I typically attend the GTX class and there are a number of options throughout the day. I'm usually able to book the same day or the day before and make it into a class. The instructors are always welcoming and friendly. If you attend a class multiple times, they make an attempt to get to know you. I've never experienced any issues in the locker rooms, in fact, I would sometimes arrive early just to relax for a bit in the lounge area. read more

In my experience, everyone is respectful and here to get s#!t done I have yet to do classes, but if you're looking for somewhere to lift, recover, and somewhere you can grab a great smoothie or snack. Nice enough facility here in Gilbert. Main issue is that the club needs better trained yoga teachers who have some understanding of how to communicate appropriately with members and a better yoga program in general. I had a very unpleasant experience with a certain instructor whose name starts with M. The gaslighting and lies from her were unacceptable. I enjoyed the club up to that point but no longer worth the price of admission for me. Amenities are good when wet sauna is open, but it is closed too often. read more

I've always had a good experience overall here. I love the sauna, hot tub and pools. The gym is solid but a bit crammed. The cold plunge is great but inconsistent temperature and it hasn't been as cold lately. Anyway I still give it 5 stars because it's a regular source and relaxation and peace in my life. read more

I wanted to give this location a second try - but my $80 NIKE swimsuit being stolen from the locker room here, just eliminated that possibility. The Tempe lifetime fitness club is not well managed! Pool is already over crowded with swim lessons, two swim teams, and the rest of us poor peons have nowhere to swim. Whoever handles facilities or logistics has a lot to learn. On top of that, seems like at least one pool is always closed. Plus in the nicest time of the year they closed the outdoor pool for maintenance. They took out the splash padwas awesome for the kids and they took the waterfall feature. The main reason we joined lifetime was for the childcare and youth sport options. They're all lackluster at best. We've had several incidents at PNOs and camps, and have heard feedback from both of our kids, in separate age groups, that the counselors were "mean" and did little to prevent bullying. Additionally, when my husband and I visited over the summer, we saw counselors yelling at kids as they walked through the facilities in line. We now use our membership mostly for the pools, otherwise we'd cancel and we're actively searching for different options. Advice to Lifetime management--thoroughly review your childcare programs, train your staff, and hire people who actually like kids. Camps should be fun. read more

The pickleball department is terrible. I had a group of at the time 20 members and we would play pickleball on Mondays and Fridays. I was asked by the director of the department to have a meeting. In that meeting she put a vague policy in my face and said we could not use the app Swish any longer to which we got pretty upset. After talking to general manager he told us using the app was against policy for legal reasons. Our group then started texting each other about playing. Then the head of the pickleball department blocked the courts not allowing us to book them as guests and then started a competing group on only on Monday and Friday. Prior to us starting our group the courts were mostly empty during the week and we were simply filling the courts. I realized the pickleball department was going to keep making it more and more difficult to play so I ended my family's membership. Honestly the director of pickleball should take some training with the pro at Gilbert (since she actually plays pickleball) and see how to value members instead of trying to figure out what they can charge for. read more

If you are paying top dollars for the Lifetime upscale gym experience, well sad to tell you this particular location is not it. Very crowded during the afternoons, more so than the cheap cut rate gym across the street for less than half the price. Manager says they do the best for everyone, but a glance and stay will quickly tell you they absolutely do prioritize a certain type of customers more than individuals. If I pay top dollar, I should expect better quality, but this location is just not it. I suggest travel to several other locations in the valley for a less crowded Lifetime experience, won't come to this location again personally. read more

Thought I would come to the Tempe gym while my car was being serviced to "walk" a few miles on the treadmill. Really bummed out I couldn't watch mindless TV as I ran and walked on their treadmill. Loved the big screen on it , but can't take advantage of it. Considering what the gym fees are I would have thought there would be TV connection on the treadmills and climbers Free motion equipment is packed in like sardines in a can. I belonged to this gym for over 15 years. I'm not sure why. Pros - it's clean and it's not hot and smelly like some other gyms. The sauna and steam rooms are nice The equipment is well maintained It's easy enough to find an open treadmill The pool is nice if you have kids and no pool at home Cons Continually told conflicting information regarding plan prices. Added my son back on a few months ago, cost was more than first person quoted me. Again. Just publish your rates already. It's very expensive. The group fitness classes are extremely overcrowded. You have to reserve a spot several days in advance, and even then you will be packed in like sardines. For some classes, you have to sign up a week in advance (as soon as registration opens up), because they immediately fill up. These classes are overrun by a certain demographic that pays NOTHING to join. ZERO. I have nothing against these members personally. But I refuse to pay hundreds of dollars for my membership so that I can get crowded out of my preferred classes. Lifetime has horribly mismanaged this situation, and it has turned into a feeding frenzy. Believe me, if I could get a free membership from Lifetime, I would take advantage of it too. I joined the "gym across the street" for a fraction of the cost, and I couldn't be happier. The classes are good, and they aren't crowded at all! Since I left, Lifetime started restricting the hours of the nonpaying members (see the other person's complaint below). So if you only work out on weekday evenings or early in the morning (or you don't do group fitness), you might not be affected. Jared W. Best trainer! I came into lifetime wanting to not just be healthy but to achieve a goal. I found that it was a bit hard to navigate or to be pushed during a workout, so I decided to go with a personal trainer through Lifetime. I told Jared I didn't want an easy workout and I wanted to walk out sore and feeling like I did something! That has been nothing but the case! One of the best fitness centers in Arizona! I actually think this is "the best" here :) Super huge complex with huge fitness area, rock climbing, basketball court, tennis court, indoor/outdoor pools with jacuzzi and slides, sauna, yoga studio, and more! They have so many different classes including dance, yoga, cycle, and they are all included in membership. Facilities are clean, locker area shower booths with plenty of towels and basic toiletries like shampoo and body wash. Staff and instructors are helpful and friendly as well :) read more

By far the worst lifetime I've ever been to. I've been a member for 5+ years mostly in Las Vegas, California, and Arizona beginning this year. I've been to all the clubs across Phoenix they're amazing except TEMPE. This is by far the most dirty and worst staffed gym I've experienced in the lifetime collection. There's a couple trainers that are professional and helpful while most of them are judgmental and just stare at you. This gym is the furthest from comfortable or clean. The only good part of this gym is the interactions with staff at the cafe. They've been great and made this gym a bit better for me. North Scottsdale peoria and the good year location are way better than this one! read more

I have been with lifetime for 2 years and recently moved to a new location. I have been very happy with the many locations I have been to however am now reaching out about a very poor and uncomfortable experience I had at lifetime Tempe. On January 13th, I was working out at the barbell squat platforms and an employee approached me. The employee introduced himself as the PT manager who I believe his name was Brian and proceeded to tell me to stop recording my workout with my tripod. I responded and said absolutely not a problem I'll do that right now as I put my tripod away. He then remained standing next to me and proceeded to scold me and made me and my guest uncomfortable (who no longer wants a lifetime membership) . Again, I reiterated that I had no problem with not filming and continued to apologize. He then decided to watch over me as I was working out by circling around me. Since that experience, I have seen him deliberately staring and watching me. I am very upset by this and feel uncomfortable with the Tempe location. . I should not feel uncomfortable by an employee while I'm working out or feel paranoid about being watched. Additionally, I have seen many of the male trainers eye balling me as I am working out. I love lifetime and it has become my safe place but this location is not that. read more

One star for my experience today. I have been a member of this gym for 7 years. Today I stopped in to ask about getting a pass for my daughter who is visiting from out of the country. Apparently she just dropped off the account for reaching the age limit of 23. I was charged for this, which I promptly called to question why. I should not be charged for the gym to make a change to my account that I did not request. Now, I understand the policy, but you are going to charge me for removing her name off my account? Your bad. So, I find the office with all the sales people huddled around. No other offices were occupied and everyone was in this one office. The door was open so I stopped in since I needed help. Bart was nice to greet me and I asked about getting a pass for my daughter since she was just dropped. I was told that I could get a pass, but since the pass "policy" has been abused that I would only be able to get one for a week. Wait, have I abused the policy? Because I have NEVER asked for a pass. So shouldn't you look at my account to see if I've abused the policy before telling me that? Then Bart looks at his Sales Manager (don't know the name - tall, dark hair, beard) and they start talking about 38 day memberships. WTF. I don't need 38 days, I'm asking for 2 to 2 1/2 weeks. The Sales Manager begrudgingly shakes his head, doesn't make eye contact with me, sighs, and says "just do it this time". WOW. JUST WOW. I'm flabbergasted. The associates are sitting on the floor having a good laugh at my expense. The associate in the chair, who was female, was very polite and nice. I really left there with a bad impression of this gym and maybe I'm spending my money in a place that truly doesn't give a rat's ass about customer service. Seven years of membership, paying my dues... I guess it doesn't matter to this bunch. So I was lectured about the abuse of the pass policy, laughed at and then told that they would issue me a one week guest pass that I could renew. I'm really disappointed, I'm happy that I was granted my request, but I really had to work for it and that is not good customer service. I will be researching other gyms in my area that will be just as happy to take my money and provide good customer service. read more

Absolutely love Life Time Fitness! It's been tough finding a gym that I actually feel comfortable in since moving from the Midwest. Life Time is large, well laid-out and well maintained. I really appreciated that they brought so many activities outside in the midst of the pandemic to allow people to continue their activities. Also the staff is friendly and always willing to assist. There are various other amenities available there: cafe, salon, etc. I personally haven't used them but they look nice. Certainly worth the price tag if you've got the $$. read more

While I can not speak negatively about the amenities available, I can speak to the poor customer service. When you walk into the facility you immediately get a sense that the staff is not there to assist but may actually believe that they are superior. If asked for service or question you immediately are made to feel dumb. For example when I went in today to cancel my me I was advise that I was wrong, I shouldn't be saying my opinion of the staff and that "maybe you don't belong here." When you are paying as much as you do with lifetime at least humor the customer to their face and make them believe they are more than a monthly retention metric and maybsomeone that is legitimately wanted. Just an update, no one ever called to address concerns. When I called the corporate customer service they did not seem concerned. First; I've been a member at various Lifetimes since I was in my early teens. Moved to AZ from MN, the birthplace of Lifetime. With that being said... Registering as a member at this location really only guarantees you access to a treadmill, some towels, and the sauna. Good luck trying to get a workout in outside of the hours of Midnight - 5:00 AM. Oh, and the demographic this place attracts will typically tell you to "go f*ck yourself" if you attempt to work-in on any of the equipment. Generally inconsiderate types who aren't cognizant of others; would much rather roll their eyes and sigh than be cordial and willing to move an extra foot over if you're trying to bust out a yoga mat or foam roller in the already crammed spaces provided. Memberships? am enlisted in the Army, and I take advantage of the benefits when I can. Especially when it comes to gym that charges a premium to be a member. Historically, every Lifetime I've transferred to over the course of my military career has honored a no registration fee and lowest price membership. You can see where I'm going with this in regards to this particular location. Ultimately your $75+ membership does not get you the most basic functions of a gym. read more

This is the gym I go to since I move to phoenix, AZ. It's a good gym for those who want a good variety of things from a gym membership. First and foremost, I love their spa. I usually get their full body massage. I will probably be booking one sometime this month again. This place offers a great relaxing massage considering it is a gym. The spa is connected to their salon. The spa is in it's own space and separate from the salon space. The lighting in the spa is dim and it's a very easy going atmosphere. I would recommend this place for a full body massage after or before a yoga session. It's the best way to wind down. -They have an outdoor pool with a water slide. It's pretty fun, I have to add. They also have an indoor pool space -They have yoga for the Yogi in you. The instructors range from really amazing to decent. I've been to classes with instructors that motivate you and inspire you to be a better yogi. I've also been to one class where I left the class feeling like I wasted an hour (But, please note it was one class and one instructor out of the numerous classes I have taken here.) - They have clean showers - They offer locks for your lockers -Friendly staff The list goes on really.
