i believe that this is the best gardening center i have ever been to! my husband and i took the free poinsettia tour today with evelyn weidner and absolutely loved it! so much priceless information and a wealth of knowledge. the result of the passion for gardening from the people who work there, are the most beautiful and healthiest of plants. you leave there feeling as if you have just left family. the friendliest staff anywhere all ready and willing to help and answer any questions you may have. they even give you little handouts for future care of your plants. these are the long, lost, local types of business that i encourage everyone to support. like them on facebook or sign up for their e-mail newsletters as they offer many classes and activities. read more

One of my all-time favorite nurseries. They not only carry the most gorgeous hanging baskets, but they will introduce you to some unusual plants that few nurseries have. And they grow it all themselves. read more

Okay, here's the thing: This isn't a one-stop nursery but that's okay because all that they do here, they do very well. Looking for amazing fuchsias? Looking for reasonably priced house plants? Looking for real-frets-on-the-ground gardeners? Looking for a place where most of the plants look well cared for? Well, then this is the place. They are highly specialized but they are a nursery in the true since of the word: they nurse plants and they do it well! If you are nearby stop in or if it is fuschia season, go for a drive. They are also great if you want to place a SOFT order for bareroot trees from Dave Wilson Nursery. Happy Gardening! read more

Very friendly and knowledgeable folks work here. They said we could have a free basil plant on the way out.

I just spent a solid 30 minutes with Evelyn getting a wealth of knowledge and recommendations on how to revive some of my garden, what to plant next, what blueberry plants to buy, and much more. It is a pleasure to be able to go to a locally owned and operated family business such as this. It is truly a gem amidst the chaos of Southern California. This was not my first visit and definitely not my last. To top it off, Evelyn walked me over to the grapes and snipped some for me to take with me, this simple trip to the nursery made my whole weekend. read more

I love this nursery. They have the best selection of Fuchsias I have ever seen in San Diego. The staff is very friendly, and know their stuff. read more

Used to be great - now it appears to be on the "going out of business" train. Plants are not as lush as they used to be. Whole atmosphere has changed and I do not go there anymore. The gift shop is practically empty, yet their site expounds on what products they have. The plant selection has become sparse amd does not look that good. Sorry to have lost a place where I stopped weekly. read more

I had such a great experience buying two house plants at Weidners' Gardens. The woman who helped me educated me on the plants I was buying and told me how to care for them. I haven't always had good luck with plants, and when I told her this, she encouraged me to call any time I had questions and Weidners' would be happy to help me out. Buying these plants was fun, informative, and sweet. I left feeling great about my purchases and left with a new confidence that I could keep these plants alive :). read more

This is a great place, the people are so friendly and informative. Evelyn helped us choose poinsettias and other items and gave friendly growing advice. Weidners' is my go to place for a gift so last weekend when I needed a unique gift for a house warming party I stopped by. Easy parking, friendly and helpful staff, an amazing array of unique gifts to chose from. I didn't know what colors or style our friends had in their new house had but in 15 min I found just the right succulent arrangement that would go with any style. I bought one of my favorite silk painting cards Weidners' sells and was out the door and on to the housewarming in a flash. The recipients were thrilled with our gift. Indoors, outdoors, easy care. We included a little note suggesting they come back to Weidners' for a replanting if it outgrows the container. read more

This is a great place if you are a good enough gardener to do Begonias and fuschias, Me, I'm overly optimistic and try anyway. I can't help myself when I go to Weidner's, everything is so beautiful, I have to bring something home and try. Mrs. Weidner is a hoot, she has a series of videos on youtube that are very informative and entertaining, and she makes it all look so easy. I've been driving from Long Beach to Weidners for years. Their plants are absolutely the best to be found. I love to dig the pansies in the fall and begonias in the spring'/summer. These plants last for years and come back every year. Evelyn and her crew are always around to offer helpful advice. I take my family members along to help me dig! I even buy plants for my friends in Orange County, and they are astounded by the beautiful baskets I bring to them. read more

I love this nursery. They are ever so helpful and never afraid to tell me that I shouldn't buy that plant for my area. I always bought plants from a box store and they would end up dying with in a week. Now I have one of the best looking balcony's in my condo complex. Thanks Evelyn and Mary. read more

FABULOUS! AS GOOD AS IT GETS! Have been coming here for decades. I live an hour away and would never let that stop me from turning to Weidner's for ALL my flower and vegetable gardening needs. I love seeing what they have for every season. Their plants are the healthiest and most productive. I love the owners and staff. My gardens have always become the envy of all. People have actually stopped their cars to tell me how amazing my gardens have been! My favorites are their 'dig your own Pansies', and Fuchsias. You won't be disappointed. read more
