Pretty annoyed I got a plant from here and walking back to my car it had aphids. I thought mealybugs at first but the guy corrected me and said they live only 2 days. That's a lie. They reproduce quickly And the life span is a month. I have a greenhouse and 50 plants in my house. I asked for a refund and he said no and just sprayed the plant down with I'm assuming is neem oil. But now I have to separate this plant leave it outside, hose it down kill the bugs and constantly repeat it till they're all gone. To be honest, I just wanted my $43 stock and I can get this plant somewhere else.. I 100% will never recommend this place to anyone read more

I have completely fallen in love with this gem of a nursery in Encinitas. I have been searching for rare plants all over North County and have found that this has the best selection and best value for rare houe plants. This whole rack of plants came from Cordova, and not a single one can be found at any other nursery for these affordable prices (think 25%-50% of the price you'd find online). I have found several White Princess and Pink Princess Philodendron that have made exquisite gifts for the holidays. The most amazing Philodendron I found was the Jose Bueno, its leaves are easily at least 18" and I snagged it for 1/3 the online price! I have also found Swiss Cheese Monstera, as well as Thai Constellation and Albo varieties. My other amazing find has been their String of Turtles and String of Hearts, which are very rare as compared to the more typical string of pearls. The owner shared with me that he's been in business for over 38 years! He is super knowledgeable and has a vast inventory (hence the competitive pricing). The plants are all super healthy, and I've not had a single pest interloper from their collection. I have never left this nursery without finding what I was looking for. So if you're looking for presents this season (prepare to wow all of your friends and family while not breaking the bank) or want to expand on your rare house plant collection, this is your spot. I don't normally leave really negative reviews like this, but I was really disappointed at the poor service we received. The selection is OK, I guess, but there's no way to tell what the actual fountain will sound like because everything is running at the same time. And they put too much or two little algae control in so they fountains are foaming over with bubbles. I will say I did like the selection, but then this is my first time looking at fountains so I don't know if it's a good selection or a bad selection. We purchased a fountain here and they promised it would be cleaned before we picked it up. They even made a point of saying ""call us before we come and we will make sure we clean it. " Nope. Cleaning to them means dumping the dirty water out - that's it. Then they made up some excuse about most people wanted it already looking tarnished. Really?? I pay literally THOUSANDS for a "new" fountain and I want it to look like it's been sitting in someone's yard for years? I seriously doubt that. We will do all of our shopping at Anderson's La Costa in the future. We came here because they were convenient. Not again. Anderson's clearly love what they do and it shows, so we'll go to them from now on. read more

I've been coming to Cordova for a little over a year now and i've never seen a place locally that has quite the selection of plants they do, at such good prices. There is always something new each month (we typically come monthly because we love them)!! As typical with any other plant there can be bugs such a spiders, aphids, etc, but i've never had any large issues with infestation or having to get rid of any plants from here! They're always so nice and helpful to see what questions we have or what we need! Love you Cordova!! read more

This nursery is huge. So many plants, so much to see. With that said, there are many areas that felt disorganized. Example off to the side where the air plants were, it is open to customers but looks more like a work station. The plants overall just didnt look lush and healthy. Majority of the plants look like rehab plants. Lovely selection of small unique houseplants and also some of the largest fiddle leaves I've ever seen!!! Lovely employees! As a huge plant lover, Cordova Gardens is by far my favorite local nursery! It's like a whole forest in there and is always so much fun! Whether you're a rare plant collector or just dipping your toes into houseplants, you'll find something to love here. I've bought too many plants (especially Hoyas) from here over the past couple years but they're all still in great shape. My apartment is slowly starting to look like a miniature Cordova Gardens at this point, haha! Today I was lucky enough to find a gorgeous Monstera to bring home. I love this nursery!! All of the fig leaf plants made me feel like I was walking through a tropical forest. They have an awesome selection of succulents, tropical plants, ferns, and so much more! Our favorite "flower" was a cutie named Mae who just couldn't get enough pets and attention from adoring customers. It was very clean. Even the bathroom was clean and safe. It's hard for people to stay distances because they get excited so you have to be diligent yourself or just go when there is a little less traffic. Parking is horrendous in the little parking lot off of Encinitas Blvd, but they have a larger lot off the side street that makes life easier. They have tons of different water fountains and pots. I really enjoyed visiting this garden. Prices weren't exactly cheap. I bought a 4" Birkin Philodendron on Saturday for $20 and it quickly started declining. Today I had enough and decided to check on its roots to see what's going on... it's a clipping potted in a 4 inch pot! ZERO roots. Zero. If it's a clipping that can be propagated- it needs to advertised and sold as that. Selling an unrooted clipping in 4 inches of soil is pure deception on their part. I'm super unhappy about it and disappointed that I even supported this business. Also, just to add... I saw some other plants I liked there that had GNARLY mealy bug infestations and spider mite infestations. The type that if you brought home would take out your entire plant collection. If you're going to go here, look thoroughly for pests and pop the plant out of its pot to check that it's actually rooted. read more

On the weekends my roommate and I like to get coffee and check out new nurseries & gardens. I remember one weekend we drove by this place and decided not to check it out because it looked like they only sold giant pots. THAT WAS DEFINITELY NOT THE CASE. I only found out about this place because it popped up on social media. When I looked up nurseries in Encinitas on yelp it didn't come up, I actually had to search up "Cordova Gardens." Walking into this place was really overwhelming because it extends to the back, but it was really organized. They have plants in every corner and hanging around (watch out for webs). They have the CUTEST brown worker doggo who loves scratches & pets. There was also a parrot that freaked my roommate out because as we were walking around the parrot just kept talking, saying "hey," and even started doing this type of evil laugh. Overall, I'm glad that I stumbled across this place on social media and gave it a real shot instead of just driving by it again. We will be back for sure. read more

Very cool place to explore, the prices range from competitive to higher than I would spend. They have an extensive offering of common and uncommon plants like the pothos, hoyas, string of things, ficus, and monsteras. I saw a really large scindapsus pictus exotica for $30 that just stole my heart. They had a fiddle leaf fig forest in the back and pots lining the perimeter of both the island of the building and outside. There's a large succulent collection outside too. I absolutely adore this place! I drive from LA to visit this amazing nursery then just make a day trip out of it by going to San Diego afterwards. They have such a wide variety of plants with decent pricing. Customer service is great, super helpful. They often post on their IG stories of plants they have in stock. You could also always call ahead of time to check if they have specific plants. So far I've gotten a couple goodies and I can't wait to go back. My second visit the son had helped me (big guy) and he is the reason I will not return to this location. He was extremely rude and abrasive. I drove 2hours to come to this location all bcs of the great service I had the first time and when I let him know the conversation I had with his father he said he didn't care because he is the owner so he's not going to treat us the same way his father did. This business is a complete plant lover's dream I will say... but I can't help but be disappointed in the quality of their plants. My plant friend gifted me with a string of turtles from here, and when I received it I noticed that most of what was in the pot wasn't even rooted into the soil. I literally tilted it over and the leaves fell into the palm of my hand. More than half of it was fallen apart. They practically just stuffed the broken leaves into the soil to make it appear fuller. If I wanted cuttings, I would have purchased cuttings. I did see another review that someone purchased a Birkin with zero roots, which I thought may have been one case of bad luck, but my experience confirms that this business does this KNOWINGLY for the sake of making $20... which is unbelievable to me and highly dishonest. With that said I can't support this business anymore. My very first visit I spent $120. I got a calathea beauty star, calathea orbiofolia, philodendron birkin, monstera deliciosa, & chinese money plant. The chinese money plant had a spider mite and fungus gnat infestation- which I treated at home after it spread to another one of my plants days after. Sigh. If you do decide to purchase from this business, I highly recommend triple checking for pests (this was my error) and to tug lightly on your plant to ensure it has a root system going! Be very cautious when picking your new plant from this business. read more

I love this place!! We bought a home and had the previous owner had a massive hippo statue that was in the front yard. Unfortunately once we closed on the house, the owner took the hippo. He told me he purchased at Cordova decades ago. So I contacted Cordova myself and after about 25-30 years they tracked down the mold through different companies and ordered me the hippo to replace the previous one. Super thrilled with the replaced addition and the staff for tracking this down for me! read more

Great selection, super busy, but almost no one seemed to be working and helping people? I would have loved to grab a hanging plant but there was literally not a soul in sight to help me grab it. I felt bad for the other 20 people walking around. Luckily, I called ahead and had them put a plant aside for me so I got out of there pretty quickly. Also VERY pricey compared to Home Depot.
