Have been looking for the best egg foo yung in Sacramento since my favorite place Lots-of-Luck closed down during Covid. Tried 4 or 5 places and not good but, today I googled top 10 in sac for egg foo yung and none of them seemed to appeal to me. Then I ran across Wei Wei on google maps and decided to try them and ordered the combo egg foo yung and honey walnut shrimp and traveled from Rosemont to Orangevale to give them a shot and boy was I suprized, it was amazing in taste, texture and ingredients, the honey walnut shrimp put Panda Express to shame with a special sauce they used. I can't say enough about the flavor between the patty and the sauce they use on the Egg Foo Yung. cannot wait to try the other menu items maybe, hard to break the cycle. read more

This is the closest Chinese restaurant to our new home. I've got to think there is better in the area. The potstickers and beef chow fun were decent, but the cashew chicken was greasy and inedible. Pork fried rice was very bland and boring. It was a shame to throw away more than we ate. read more

Great food! Great value! We went for lunch and ordered the generals chicken w/fried rice also green bean chicken w/chow mein. Both lunch specials came with hot & sour soup & a veggie spring roll. I have loved eating here till the new owners the last few times I've gone have been okay the people a bit rude but nothing crazy until today I go and eat with my family then I go pay and as I'm leaving they come up to us and demand a tip. Came up to us saying it's mandatory. Then put it on the bill I gave them 5$ they charged me 10$ on my card. read more

From the reviews here, it appears pretty obvious that tastes differ from customer to customer. We've eaten at the old Spice House and it was far less than stellar. So, with the new owners and the dearth of decent Chinese restaurants in the area, we thought we'd give the Wei Wei a chance. Very pleased that we took the gamble as the food was very well prepared and the service was excellent. We had the beef chow fun, green bean chicken, and pot stickers and frankly they were all better than anything we've had in quite awhile. So, while I cannot agree with those that the "Orangvale Staple" was worth returning to, I certainly agree with those that have provided positive reviews of the Wei Wei. read more

Great food ! I mean way above the norm. Flavor galore, food cooked to perfection. And serving sizes are huge.

Food sucked, service, well they add the tip in the bill. So that speaks for itself. And the containers they sent it home in one crushed and lost all the sauce out of it and another one ripped the lid off of it. Ambience I really have nothing to say about that it's just a Chinese food place. I would definitely go someplace else. read more

Wé had lunch at Wei Wei Kitchen last week and the lunch plates were very good! I had orange chicken, I paid an extra $2 for half chow mein and half steamed rice, meal came with hot and sour soup and an egg roll. Plenty of food and we all took home leftovers. We will go back again! read more

They bought the restaurant but it appears they didn't buy the recipes from Sichuan Spice House. Our dinners were ok, but not nearly as tasty as we have become used to And the menu is lacking ... No combination dinners? Only for lunches. And no Chinese beers? Only Corona & Modelo... and those are Mexican beers. They need to find their identity and put forth a better effort. Wei Wei Kitchen 1/16/24: I'm a retired woman in a wheelchair & rarely can leave my house to eat out. I was really looking forward to a Chinese lunch. I was the first person there at 11:30am but no one came to greet me in spite of being the only person. The single waitress waived me to sit down & she said something but I am almost deaf & could not hear. I called out to her that I couldn't hear but she still didn't come up to me to talk to me. So I sat myself down at a table. Fortunately I had picked up a paper menu that was in a stack by the entrance door, because she didn't even come to offer me water or give me a menu for 20 minutes. When she came to my table she seemed impatient for me to hurry up & order. But I was still the only customer. I ordered the Curry Shrimp lunch special $12.95 & a full-size bowl of Wonton Soup $11.95. The wontons were full of a flavorless ground mystery meat & the bowl of soup itself was half full of inedible pieces of rubbery chicken. The broth itself was okay. The small lunch portion of Curry Shrimp was very tasty. However, I could only eat (1/3 of) the off-tasting fried rice by pouring soy sauce on it. The egg roll also tasted off & I couldn't eat it. I tried to add an order of Fried Shrimp $9.95 right away (because I was still hungry) but the waitress was busy with mostly phone orders & three other tables, each with only one to two customers. She didn't come to me for 25 minutes. I DID wave at her several times that I needed help but was ignored. I finally got to order the shrimp. Yay! I also had to beg to receive more than one napkin. When she gave me the bill she briskly apologized & said she was the only waitress that day. At the end of the meal, the only things I could eat were the Curry Shrimp & the Fried Shrimp. But remember I couldn't eat the $11.95 Wonton Soup at all or the fried rice & egg roll that came with the Curry Shrimp lunch. My total (not including TIP) was $38. All in all, I won't go back. I feel bad because they are only a tiny restaurant so I hate to give a negative review but, really, the food & customer service should have been much better. read more

Absolutely amazing food! I've had a lot of Chinese food in my life and this is one of the best places I've tried! Very authentic. Ordered chicken chow fun, Singapore noodles, and Szechuan boiled fish. Both noodle dishes were out of with world. The fish was very fresh and flavorful, it was the perfect amount of spicy. Our new favorite Chinese place. We got takeout standards: chicken fried rice, sweet and sour pork, cashew chicken, and chicken egg foo young. The pork potstickers were homemade and very tasty. I liked all of the food, very fresh and flavorful. My husband liked it but thought it could use more salt. I liked that it wasn't overly salty! We plan to try new things next time or perhaps try the lunch specials. I think this is a nice addition to the neighborhood. Our only complaint‐ no fortune cookies. This was my first experience with Wei Wei, and although I was a bit skeptical since Sichuan Spice House had declined somewhat recently, I was very pleasantly surprised. My takeout order was ready exactly on time, and, although a bit pricy, the portions were very generous and the quality was excellent. First time I've gone since the changed owners. Absolutely terrible! Got a large hot and sour soup and it was considerably smaller than before about 1/3rd or so and almost flavorless, barely any spice and flavor, extremely thick and only about 5 tiny pieces of meat. Also got the veggie spring rolls and they also flavorless. Taste like a bunch of old soggy mush they just thru in them and fried them in some old burnt oil. Sad to see another Orangevale staple get completely ruined. Will not be going here ever again!!! read more
