I thought this place was supposed to be jaw-droppingly awesome with low prices and an incredible selection. I was seriously underwhelmed and disappointed. I usually shop at Whole Foods in Bedford and a few other local places like Trader Joe's and Idlywild in Acton. So I guess my standards are really high. And let me also say that I'm a careful shopper, take FULL advantage of the copious amounts of coupons for Whole Foods and only buy meat on sale. I also get organic ground beef ($4.99/lb) and Colmans organic chickens for $15-20 for 2 large birds at Costco. I feed my family of 4 breakfast, lunch and dinner (no buying at work!) for around $80-150 a week depending on the season and averaging about $450-500 a month. I also get lots of my produce at Verrill Farm. So apply whatever snob factor you'd like to my review. Most of the "amazing selection" is Wegmans own brand of product and not knowing that much about Wegmans, I don't have any sort of brand loyalty towards them. The prices weren't all that different and the layout was odd. They seem to have only one spot for organic items and the selection was pretty small and MUCH more expensive that my Whole Foods and literally one carton of organic eggs. I'm used to having six or seven different organic brands to choose from and different sizes. And I like to see my organic and non-organic choices closer together so I can judge for myself price, quality and value. All their donuts, cookies and baked stuff are all loaded with partially hydrogenated oils - again, no better than my local Roche Brothers or Market Basket and certainly NOT Whole Foods! The olive bar was $8.99/lb and offered the same stuff as Roche Bro and Whole Foods, at the same price - yes Whole Foods is $9.99 lb. And the meat selection was the same sort of stuff you can get at Costco, but more expensive. Come on folks, choice meat from either USA/Canada is all sourced the same. And the organic was all their own brand and I do NOT trust their organic sourcing. So I kept on trudging over to the liquor store hoping for some New Hampshire prices and I was disappointed again. Tanqueray Gin, Bombay Saphire Gin and Balletines Scotch were all the same price as my liquor store in Acton. The 6 pack of beer I like was $1 less than my liquor store but as they won't give you a case price, a case of my beer ends up being cheaper. I was very pleased to see Guinness was $2 less and the skinny girl beverages were the biggest surprise, $10.49 instead of $14.99. If I bought that stuff, it might be worth a 30 minute trip but I'm not going to. And I find the prices at Costco to be better, or even New Hampshire. read more

Massive store with good prices and a nice feel to it. I hate grocery shopping and had FUN, actual FUN shopping at Wegman's. I remember how friendly our cashier, Ernie was and how he thanked us for shopping at Wegman's when we told him we came here "all the way from Medford". We buy a lot of paper goods here as it is a lot cheaper than Stop and Shop, Star/Shaw's/CVS - and they carry everything! I love their brand of tissues and paper towels. I love that my Polar Ruby Red Grapefruit seltzer was fully in stock and EIGHTY NICE cents per liter! I have never seen it lower than that! I loved their little food court area. I was overwhelmed and wanted something light and got their shrimp cocktail - it was delicious. They even make blackberry infused water - so so so delicious. Reminded me of my beloved and now-defunct clearly canadian - minus the bubbles. This store made me want to move to Northboro -- I didn't even know where we were but I loved it. I really thought the community feel was nice and the people shopping seemed happy. I don't get that feeling when I do my shopping where I live. So after the craziness died down, have to bump Weggie's stars. The grocery side of the store is all that and a bag of Taro chips. They carry Bachmann elixirs which means no more dealing with Worcester traffic to get to Living Earth. This place is just insane with the choices available. Also, the prepared foods section is way easier to deal with if you don't go at lunch rush. Mr Bethany loves the extra hot Buffalo and Sweet & spicy wings ( I love that there is a sign that reminds him that 3 wings = 540 calories ( more or less depending on flavors), it does the reminding for me!! :) My new go to grab is the Pacific Tuna & avocado roll in the sushi case. I also stock up now on the Wegmans bottled, unsweetened teas like Oolong & green. Although I still am going to stay far away come holidays -- Wegman's definitely is a keeper for this area. read more

Three day weekend and what did I want my big adventure from Cambridge to be? Oh, that's right -- I wanted to rent a car and drive out to a grocery store. Welcome to my life. Wegmans is a HUGE supermarket that I originally heard about on a food show. It's like the Costco of supermarkets (except you don't buy in crazy bulk). Pros: - their generic greek yogurt with honey is awesome. Seriously. I like it more than Chobani (in part because Chobani honey is so inconsistent. Sometimes the yogurt tastes like honey, sometimes it tastes like plain.) - A ton of hot food and salad bar items to choose from if you're looking for something to munch while walking around. Chris got a bunch of dim sum and Indian treats. I got a single baby piece of boneless buffalo chicken. [I wish I could eat a pound of that chicken without losing the ability to fit into my jeans.] - decent number of free samples (I think we tried four or five) - lots of options - solid hippie aisles - While most of their prices are comprable to regular grocery stores, we did score a couple of good deals on cereal, yogurt, and produce. - lots of cheese options Cons - On the weekends this place is a madhouse. If you have claustrophobic tendencies, stay away. I hear it's better on weekday nights. - Some of the strawberries I got were moldy! And I inspected them so closely! - The non-moldy strawberries were seriously lacking in flavor. A lot of them were clearly picked way too early. - Did I mention that it's a madhouse? - Not that many healthy options at the food bar area No matter what, you should check this place out at least once! read more

We love Wegmans! We were avid Price Chopper and Market Basket shoppers until we discovered Wegmans. The selection is unbeatable, and the Shoppers Club is awesome. They also send coupons to my house every month ($7 worth each week) AND double manufacturer coupons under $1. Combine those things together, and the savvy shopper can save some serious $$. As some others mentioned, the prices on some items are higher than in other stores, however the Wegmans brand products are all fantastic quality and reasonably priced. Typically MUCH lower than National Brands and often lower than other store brands. I refuse to use most store brands, but we have found that we PREFER Wegmans brands (especially the box mac and cheese $0.49 a box YUM!) The produce and meats ARE more pricey than Market Basket, but the quality is much higher. We were buying produce at Market Basket and having to toss it 2 days later. The shelf life of Wegmans produce is much longer and we've found it to be more flavorful as well. The wine and beer selection is fantastic as is the ready prepared foods and we LOVE the fresh bakery breads. We won't shop anywhere else! read more

Revisiting some old reviews and my opinion of Wegman's has changed dramatically. I don't know if I just got used to it but unlike all the other grocery stores in this area this one actually has STAFF and staff that actually seems pretty well trained in their jobs. That's a major accomplishment. The Wing buffet bar offers the best bone in wings in the area, unfortunately the people who man the wing bar don't seem to understand the need to keep it stocked. ME: Are you putting out any more wings? WINGGUY (Looks over): There's still some over there. ME: There are three wings in the bin, and none of them are drumsticks. Nobody likes that part of the wing. WINGGUY: The drumsticks sell too fast, we can't keep up with them, so I've been making less. Yes, this actually was told to me. Regardless, I was able to influence his decision on refilling the wing bar and all was right in the world. The wings themselves are perfect-- nicely cooked, just the right amount of sauce, the meat just falls off the bone-- ok I'm making myself hungry. The store has a great organic section, the bakery is top notch-- most supermarket bakeries are not, and the liquor department is outstanding. Friends who grew up out of state speak about Wegmans with a strange sort of reverence. I stopped by one when I was in Pennsylvania, and it was pretty good. I especially liked their craft beer selection, and the prices were great. Massachusetts is different from Pennsylvania when it comes to pricing. I wish things were as cheap here! This Wegmans is not somewhere that I would do my normal grocery shopping. They have a cool selection, and I have to admit the bagels and smears were delicious, but their prices on items like meat and veggies are insanely high. I would compare it to shopping at Whole Foods versus a place like Market Basket. They have a huge cafe section with interesting places to sit, and lots of variety. The food isn't that great. It's sitting under heating lamps and your typical buffet food. Also, the prices are high, and as is typical when you're filling up a to go box, you always fill it way past one pound and spend more than you would at a restaurant. The craft beer selection (and the entire alcohol selection) was nice. They didn't have as much variety as the Wegmans in PA did, which was a bummer. I live pretty far away, and basically made the trip to the Worcester area to check out this place. Even if I lived close, I just couldn't see myself doing my weekly grocery shopping here. Wegmans. I didn't understand before. I couldn't comprehend why people were lined up around the block on the day you opened your doors. I just couldn't see what the heck was so special about a grocery store. FOR SHAME! Wegmans is fantastic. Cheaper (on most of the staples anyways) than Stop and Shop and Roche Brothers, they have a huge selection of produce (fruits and vegetables). Their cheese selection can not be beat. Hell they have three people dedicated to helping you decide what cheese speaks to you the most. Large wine selections and bread choices galore! My favorite part of Wegmans is the "valley" of prepared foods etc. It's like walking through a Moroccan bazaar. Fish of the day vendors are shouting about the cod they caught that morning. The bread bakers are passing out hunks of fresh bread samples. Its a decadent's delight! Checking out is the only hassle I've ever had there. Because the place is new, it seems like they've hired every teenager in the 'boro area (South, North, and West-boros that is). They are slow and not 100% familiar with the system yet so that makes it slow going. read more

This area has a lot of grocery stores. A _bunch_ of them, including Price Chopper, several Stop & Shops, a Target with groceries, a Walmart with groceries, Trader Joes, and Roche Brothers. If you're willing to go to Framingham there is a Whole Foods in the area too. Wegmans is the best, bar none. They have an excellent selection, great produce, great service, and great prices! Their store brand items are consistently excellent (although sometimes there is added sugar in things that it doesn't need to be in), and it's by far our favorite grocery store in the area. read more

The BEST grocery store to ever exist!! I am so so happy that Wegmans is now in Massachusetts. This is the most amazing shopping experience anyone could ever have. Compared to SS, MB, HFD, Wegmans cannot be in the same league. Being from Upstate NY, Wegmans was always the grocery store of choice for me. Where to begin.. The prepared foods section is simply the best and how often can you say that you are going to the grocery store to eat lunch or dinner. A Wegmans sub will put any subshop to shame with their store baked 7" or 14" rolls, and generous portions of meats and topping. You can sample good NY Style pizza including a spiedie chicken pizza.! The bakery has very fresh breads, bagels, rolls and cakes that are priced right and very tasty. One good caveat to Wegmans is that they rarely have gimmick sales.You can go in and pay the same price on many items any time and not have to worry about a weekly sale. I think that many local people are not accustomed to such a selection and atmosphere that Wegmans brings and some may be turned off by it because they like their cramped small stores with no personality. or feel they need to pay more for a better quality. The Wegmans brand is superb to almost any national brand and for the cost of the Wegmans brand, you can surely save money on items like cereal, baking needs, Wpop, breads and canned goods. I will drive 1 hour to shop here than at a local New England based store one block away from me. My home is filled with Wegmans brand products and now that they are here, they will always be my first choice for ALL my grocery shopping needs. Overall, you can not go wrong with Wegmans. For real, shopping at Wegman's is like shopping in wonderland. You could spend hours wandering through this huge store, eating cheese and wine samples and thinking happy thoughts. It's really that fun. Wegman's is an upscale grocery market that is reasonably priced, in a complex with other cool stores, and the largest, most comprehensive grocery store I've ever seen! 2 x the size of a regular market! You could get your daily exercise in there---its really that big. Plus, the hot bar is so large (with 250 person seating room) that it feels like a restaurant as well. Our favorites from Wegman's ready-made food were: their fresh-baked bread, their sesame chicken at the Asian hot bar, and the Cauliflower Gratin at their vegetarian hot bar. This is also the most reasonably priced, higher end supermarket I've been too! I scored a huge bag of pears for 3 dollars, I spotted Colgate toothpaste for a dollar, loofahs for 70 cents....You get the idea. Whole Foods out, Wegmans in! PS: And who doesn't love a supermarket that gives you a free reusable bag and large bottle of of herb olive oil dipping sauce when signing up to be a club member?! Yes please! I felt really overwhelmed by how big it is and the amount of people that were there at 2 pm on a Saturday, but I can't hate on it though because most of the prices were amazing. My days at Wegmans go back to my days at Binghamton University. This is a great supermarket, with great staff. It is no wonder why this company regularly ranks as one of the Greatest Places to Work.. By far the best grocery store on the planet for selection, customer service, quality and price. The caveat here is that its all under one roof. Yes, of course I go to Russo's for fresh produce and McKinnon's for cheap meats. Trader Joe's for those knick-knack snacks and Whole foods for good seafood and even Martignetti for my booze. Very nice store. We moved about 4 minutes down the street 6 months ago and I hardly go anywhere else. The prices are quite fair....produce is a little more expensive than other places, as is meat unless you buy the family pack (which is very fairly priced), but I find that their regular grocery items are often cheaper than local alternatives, so it all comes out in the wash. I say this after a fair amount of item to item comparison when I first moved here between local stores (Hannaford, Price Chopper, etc). The range of stuff that they carry is impressive. I can find almost anything I want there, including a wide range of products that I can't find anywhere else. Also their bakery, meat, and cheese departments don't disappoint. Nor does their pre-packaged food and ready to eat food. Don't miss out on their app!! I am so in love with this thing. It's available from the app store and I'm sure on android as well. You will never have to wander aimlessly looking for a product again because this thing tells you exactly where to go and organizes it so you don't wander back and forth across the store. Also, it tracks all of your purchases through your Wegmans card and then compiles lists of what you've purchased so you can easily add things to your grocery list that you regularly buy. It will even estimate your bill for you. The biggest thing that sets this store apart though is the SERVICE. The people here truly go above and beyond. Every time I need help someone is there, they always find an answer to my question, and I am always very satisfied. Everyone is also so friendly. Wow. That's what I have to say about this place. It almost needs three review categories. One for the liquor store, one for the grocery store, and one for the take-out/carry-in food. First let's get my shopping experience out of the way. I came here a few weeks ago, a week after its opening, to get some baked goods for my boyfriend's birthday. I bought him two cakes and some cupcakes. The cakes were amazing - a triple chocolate mouse cake, an ultimate choclate cake, and some Cookie Monster cupcakes. But it was the service that was over-the-top. My hands were full, and after the bakery people provided my cake to order, they asked if they could get me a cart to put the stuff in, from the front of this enormous store. I was very impressed. That type of customer service - I hope it lasts. The eat-in section was impressive. I'm coming back here for lunch and review 2 sometime. The selection looks great. Lots of ethnic food, a coffee area, etc. The florist area is also nice and offers a good selection. The store is huge, well laid out, and looks competitively priced. I normally shop at Market Basket in Oxford, because its a few minutes away from my home. I wouldn't go 20-30 mins out of my way, unfortunately. But this place is big, well laid out. I can't speak of true price comparisons, just based on some items I've seen. Again, there is also a "club" style area (like BJ's) and a liquor store inside as well. And of course, a Red Box on the exterior. There is ample parking, but we'll see how it is during the holiday season, as it is amidst a new shopping plaza. read more

I've been enjoying sushi for years, never have I had an issue with freshness until today. I purchased Kiwi king Salmon at Wegman's in Northborough, Ma. I think it's best to come in here with a list in mind, otherwise you will buy stuff just because it looks great, and will buy too much from the hot tables. Way too much. I'd say that the selection is great. I'm not sure you will get the bargains from the bakery and the cheese selections that you might from Trader Joe's, but the meat selection is great, and pretty cheap. The Veggie section is lacking in selection, and quality. I will say the clientele leave something to be desired. Grabby, bossy, and entitled. Kind of like shopping at Whole Foods. The bakery is dope. The cheese kuchen is only $3.50 (and kick ass, besides). 5/$11 Coke 12 packs, $1.49lb of asparagus. Ridiculously cheap. Weg brand pasta sauce is 99 cents (for my lazy days). Lunazul tequila is $16 and has a buy 2, get $15 rebate. Organic fresh artichokes 4 for $3! I think the prepared food stations are overpriced, but the artichoke-asiago cake is fantastic, as is the southwest tofu. Another time I tried one of the $6 kosher meals with a potato cake, apple sauce, potato salad (I like potatoes, obvs.) and the best couscous I've ever had (curry-golden raisin). I love the one stop shopping experience. Buying my booze and groceries together is convenient. The only time you should go to the grocery store hungry is when you go to Wegman's. The food/cafe is unbelievable. You want Chinese, Indian, and some mashed potatoes on the side- they got it! Plenty of vegetarian options. The variety is so impressive. Food is fresh, tasty, and constantly being brought out. $8.49 per lb for deliciousness. Plenty of seating. While I was completely impressed by the prepared foods, I set my expectations too high for the grocery store. Went on a Saturday later afternoon and while it was busy, it wasn't too crazy. I was expecting a ton of free samples. I only ended up with a single sample of cheese, a sample of wine and a sample of a smoothie. This was a bit disappointing. I was most impressed by the alcohol section - tons of beer and wine at fantastic prices. Craft beers by the bottle. Bakery was nice, cheese area was good but overall everything else was eh- okay. The location is great, there are a ton of fun stores in the same plaza including famous footwear, a makeup store, an accessories place, T.J.Max, Michael's craft store... a true estrogen extravaganza of shopping options read more

Oh Wegmans, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways... 1. Hot Food Bar - the best I have seen by far! The variety, the quality, the taste, the price...I could spend the day eating here and not get bored. For me, this get top marks just because they try to make asian dim sum dishes and they are actually GOOD! 2. Variety in groceries to include gluten free, soy free, and any other free type products. Very friendly to people who have allergies, on diets, or just want to try something different. 3. Huge variety in choices of groceries. This is where I discovered ice cream made with coconut milk (in an assortment of flavors) and wow oh wow! It was so good (albeit pricey $4.99 for a small pint of ice cream but oh well) 4. Fresh produce galore!!! 5. Huge HUGE HUGE wine and spirits section. Includes high end and hard liquor! Disney land of grocery stores indeed! I literally live right next to Wegmans, and it is dangerous because I seem to find every excuse to go there- - whether it's to buy a ready made dinner, milk, or just to walk around! I literally can find everything I need at Wegmans. Grocery store: They have everything you need from an organic foods section to an extensive liquor area. I'm most impressed with their cheese and olive bar - - YUMM! And the desserts - - they're delicious! Prepared foods/ Market area: This place is awesome. They have an extensive variety of cooked foods from the bar, deli/ sub station, pizzas, cafe, and buffet areas. They have Chinese, Indian, Thai, and American food, and a whole Vegetarian area. I wasn't too impressed with the Asian food - -but it's honestly better than some of the take out you can get around here! I love the sushi station. Staff/ ambiance: The staff is friendly and helpful. I've only experienced a few staff members who were a little curt and didn't seem to fit the whole vibe and mantra of Wegmans. But for the most part, everyone is helpful and delightful! Downsides: As many have mentioned, the huge weekend crowds are headache-inducing. Because I live in the area, the huge crowds and traffic is horrible. I always try to make my trips during less busy times of the day/ week. Trader Joes vs Whole foods: I definitely think this is far and away better than TJ's. There's just more of a selection. I used to have to make a 25 minute drive to Framingham to get to WF, and it's just not as comprehensive as Wegmans. This may not be ideal for huge families, but for a young couple/ single person, this is perfect. I've put away my Price Chopper card/ Stop and Shop card for good. Now that I can buy gas at BJs, which is right around the corner, there's no need for my Pchopper gas points! read more

This is the Walt Disney World of grocery stores! We discovered Wegmans through my brother, a resident of New York State. A giant Wegmans opened near my father in law' home in Pennsylvania. It is the largest grocery store chain in the US that is still privately owned (I think). Yes, some of the convenience food is hit or miss but their prices are competitive and their selection is second to none. Their customer service, in the store, is top notch. I love to cook and I find grocery shopping fun and relaxing. I can hardly wait for the planned Burlington, MA store to open in 2013! read more

Wegmans is a PALACE OF FOOD. The grocery store is large and has a very good selection. There are things (alternative diet items) I have to go to Wegmans for specifically that I cannot find anywhere else. The slight downside....the prices. Not the cheapest. The hot food/meal section is off the chain! Its almost like a mall food court with a cold sub place, brick oven pizza place, diner (burgers, etc) counter and then of course the hot food buffet bars. They have it all - cold veggies, cold fruit, hot veggies, hot vegetarian entrees, chinese, thai, indian, italian, homestyle american dishes and more! Its all sold by weight. Yeah its kind of like a crappy buffet place however there are some interesting aspects. Some hot food items are organic, there is full ingredient disclosure for each item and the quality is higher. Its well tended to by staff as well. The seating area is extensive and includes a child play area, comfortable tables and booths, wifi and conference rooms for groups. read more

This place is hands down the best grocer in suburban Boston. It stomps all over the competition. The best part for me is the dinner selection. Lots of cuisines to choose from. Pretty cool grocery emporium! The hot foods are tasty, the wife and I loaded up on some of the Asian dishes - I loved the pineapple chicken, sesame chicken was good too. The hot wings are nice, as are the dumplings. Be careful though - it's easy to go overboard on this stuff, and it's $8.50 / lb so before you know it, you're paying the same you'd pay at your favorite takeout joint. That said, I think their hot foods area has Whole Foods beat - WF has more healthy stuff, while Weggys has the more pub food/traditional takeout scene. At any rate, it is nice to try a couple different things for dinner before doing some grocery shopping. I'd call this a happy medium between Whole Foods and Market Basket - some great high end stuff (dry aged steaks...drool, amazing cheese department), but also the more bargain-conscious stuff as well. The most impressive area of the store is the booze department. HOLY S! it's honestly like having a New Hampshire state packy on one end of the store. No joke. Good deals on liquour, beer, and wine. Wow, For a long time all i heard about from my wife was how great Wegmans was. Well it was not to disappoint. I cannot beleive a store this large in size is so busy and packed with people. I live in Shrewsbury and grocery shop in Framingham at Whole Foods (about 18-20 miles away). I had never been to a Wegman's and was looking forward to shopping closer to my house (about 3 miles away). I had been told that Wegman's has a good selection of organic foods. I have been there twice since it opened and am deeply disappointed in the scant selection of organic foods. Even the local Stop & Shop and Price Chopper have a better selection of organics!! Overall, the meats and produce sections is the same as Stop&Shop and Price Chopper. It differentiates itself from those by its huge liquor selection and superb 'Market Cafe'. I was impressed with the selection of foods at the Market Cafe (albeit a bit expensive at $8.50/lb). Overall, I will continue to go to the Whole Foods at Framingham for my grocery. If I go to Wegmans - it will be for the Market Cafe only. read more

Excellent store, definitely the best grocer in western mass. Always small carriages available, food is typically well stocked, they're open late, fish and produce is fresh and register lines are short. Also there's a huge selection of liquor and beer inside! One negative I would say is the bagels could use some refining, they're a bit stiff and thin but other than that this place is great. read more

The minute I walk into Wegmans, I feel a rush of excitement and happiness. This is an entirely unique feeling reserved for Wegmans, Costco, and Target. Do try their prepared foods shrimp dumplings dim sum--while it's not close to what you would find at an actual dim sum restaurant, it's a pretty acceptable substitute when you're an hour outside of Boston and craving something light and fresh for lunch. Also do try their french vanilla muffins from their fresh baked goods bakery aisle! I've had mixed luck with fruits from any retailer that is not Whole Foods or Wegmans. Even Wegmans bulk size (club pack) fruit keeps fresh longer than comparable club packs at Costco or other grocery stores. And yes--definitely visit their beer, wine, liquor section. I found prices on a few things were better than the New Hampshire State liquor store. LASTLY but tantamount to the 5 star review, is their customer service. I have never encountered a rude or indifferent Wegmans employee. From people stocking shelves to the prepared food servers to their sometimes teenage cashiers--everybody is so warm and friendly. The experience of shopping at Wegmans is amazing. Really looking forward to the Chestnut Hill location opening up closer to Boston! read more

This place is incredible! Selection is fantastic. The meat, seafood, and produce amazing quality. Prepared foods excellent. Like no other grocery store in MA. Puts others to shame really. Some items are a bit pricier, but the quality is stellar...all in all very competitive pricing on many items. The store is very large---even with a huge crowd there I got parking easily, got through the store w/ 2 young kids and through the checkout with no problem. I was in the store for 2+ hrs and didn't even really get to see everything! It won't replace my routine grocery shopping (too far away from the south shore) but definitely can see coming her a few times a month! You must go see this store...it will blow your socks off! read more

Not the same. Armed guards, most of meat and poultry gone. No service from butchers even though they are just standing around. No fresh fish except for pre-wrapped product. No Social distancing in the store after standing in line for 30 min to get in. Checkout takes 5-10 min per person. Go to Shaw's or other store. No lines better selection. Liquor prices no longer worth the visit. Rent a cop at front of store a jerk. State troopers add to tension. Never again( and I am a regular, or used to be). read more
