They recently helped me in my trip to shaws, and not only efficiently scanned and bagged my groceries, but they also quickly counted the cash i gave them, used a counterfeit pen on the money (AS THEY SHOULD!!!) gave me the correct change before i could say "Thank you for shopping at Shaws Goldstar!" Visited some local flower shops in the area. Monday's without a call in advance are limited. One of the locations were super friendly and willing to help out! Recommended the Shaw's nearby, I thought she was being rude and sarcastic. She read it on my face and quickly stated they are great quality and they have nice arrangements. Fresh cut flowers and orchids. Cannot complain, the service was top notch. Helped me wrap up my orchid for travel. If you're in the area and need flowers give them a try. read more

I shop at Shaw's on West Boylston St, in Worcester and left my phone behind in a cart. As we all know our phone contains a lot of information and I called phone numerous times and drove to Shaw's to see if anyone found it, no one had. I tried one more time and an employee who was leaving for the day stayed he had found it and waited for me to pick it up. I'm thankful for Phil who could've made my day much worse, I've found many of the young, older, diverse workers do a great job there. They are courteous bagging, taking orders and asking for what meat or breads I enjoy. Jennifer is wonderful in the bakery and Abraham (the manager that day) was polite and quick to answer the phone. Attempted to purchase buy 1 get 2 english muffins. When using self checkout the savings did not calculate. The attendant came over and said one of the packs was not part of the discount. I asked why they would put non sale items intermixed with the sale items and was told it was my responsibility to check for that! I suggested this was a bait and switch and that some customers may not notice that this occurred. The correct thing to do would have been to override and honor the sale price putting the burden on Shaws to stock sale items separately from non sale items. Not the first tome this has happened and probably explains why my purchases at Shaws have declined. Not how to retain customers! read more

"I can't see a way that it could get better, except being cheaper." sayeth my nieces. Shaws "has a lot of stuff, the food is good, their pizza and stuff, and they make cheese sticks. It was remodeled recently with big murals on the walls with all the food and it's clean and and it's basically brand new, so..." And my nieces are geniuses. So there ya go. I went looking for something they didn't have (a tea strainer), but I got lots of help from friendly staff and even a friendly manager... until they decided they didn't have it. This place is as big as a Costco, and you don't have to buy in bulk. There's a wild harvest area with organic food, as well as a pharmacy area as large as an inner city CVS... flowers and plants... and some picnic tables out front for your sitting pleasure. read more

Best shaws location in worcester area but stop n shop better Produce is okay but not as good as stop n shop. Store is nice and bright, feels good to shop here, although stop n shop stores are newer and better. Decent amount of weekly specials that are a good value. This location was super convenient for us, went here often. The organic private label brand here (Wild Harvest) is very good quality, bought it a lot. This location looks a lot better than the other shaws locations in worcester. read more

This is an average grocery store. I've been here several times and its prices aren't always the best but they have a great variety of brands and foods to choose from. I come here when I'm looking for something I can't find near my house and they often have what I'm looking for. This location is by far my favorite. Today I was in and had the most friendly, happy, hardworking and knowledgeable cashier. Jake was smiling and looked so happy to be at work and It was a welcoming environment coming through his line. I always hope that the cashier can help me with my "just for you" account and jake could! He knows exactly what to do and was making sure that my phone number was all set with my clipped coupons coming off. I was so happy to get such a young, hardworking, and respectful cashier today. I hope everyone gets to meet Jake when you checkout at gold star shaws he is truly an asset to this location. Terrible customer service. It was 7:30 a.m., the store was empty, and the manager Tom still couldn't tear himself from his cell phone to help me. I asked him to re-order a product they were out of: a Dr. Praeger's burger. He said "Do you have the code? Because the vendor handles that, I can't do anything without a code." I'm a customer. How on earth would I know the product code? Isn't it his job to call up the vendor and ask? Apparently not -- he said twice that I (the customer) "needed to have the code" and got back to his cell phone. I won't be back. read more

The staff here is really inattentive, and you can tell that everyone doesn't seem to care about their job. The self checkouts are almost always broken, or if assistance is needed, it takes at least 5 minutes for someone to come by. The prices are pretty high compared to other grocery stores within the city. It also is far from clean as far as a grocery store goes.Do yourself a favor and avoid this dump. read more

Great advertised sales except they are often "all out", even on first day of the sale. Today Provolone cheese already sold out on first day of sale. Then I asked the manager where the $1.99 case water was. He said all sold out. How can it be all sold out on the first day of the sale, I asked? He said it's 95 degrees out, no it is 75 degrees. Then he said there is a water shortage. Very rude and uncaring. Perhaps he should be rounding up shopping carts in the parking lot rather than be the front line manager. read more

Eggs? Check. Milk? Check. Rude and condescending cashiers? Double check. The customer service at Shaw's has been lousy for over a year, yet they seem to keep finding new ways to get worse. The cashiers don't seem to care and they rarely staff enough baggers on the weekends to get the job done. In my latest visit, one of the cashiers who was milling around actually berated my husband for pointing out that a previous customer had left a purchase behind. The cashier actually asked "What do you expect me to do? Chase her down? I don't even know what she looks like. Did she bag her own groceries?" Well, given the fact that the associate was just wandering around rather than helping with the bagging, yes, it is quite likely the previous customer did indeed bag her own groceries. My husband actually said "I'm not asking you to chase down anyone, but I thought you guys would want to know..." I'm still amazed that he kept his cool with that kind of rudeness and condescension. Shaw's does provide a survey link with each receipt, and to their credit, they appear to actually read the responses. I took the time to share my experience with the manager and named the employees involved. I received a semi-boilerplate "we're sorry it went poorly" response with no clear commitment other than continued training efforts with employees. I'd love to simply write-off Shaw's, but they really do have some of the best selection in the area. Who knows, maybe they'll add more self-checkouts and replace the cashiers with a machine, which sadly, may be more personable. read more

Ok so I do enjoy the other Shaws locations - primarily for the really fresh produce and organic options. BUT this location just downright sucks. And wow Shaws way to not be competitive at all in your home section. I was looking for a package of AA batteries - I was so lucky to find a 4 pack for $7!!! and they were some off brand too. Eek. They didn't even have light bulbs. I know it sounds crazy but people don't want to shop at walmart anymore. They LIKE buying that crap even though its more expensive at the grocery store. I was so suprised. Staff is missing when you need them on the floor. Customer service line always has somone sorta angry in line for one reason or another... and avoid like the plague on Thanksgiving, Xmas, Super bowl etc. weekends... as well as any impeding snow storm. The logistics of this parking lot appear to look like they'd be all set... but its actually the 9th circle of hell. Salad bar though - I'm with that. read more

I wish I had the names of the bakery staff member and the baker that helped my son's last minute wedding so much more special. Long story short, my son and his now wife decided to have a civil wedding ceremony here in Worcester, MA at the last minute. We had 48 hours to get everything done. The ONLY bakery that agreed to bake me a cake in such a short time was Shaws on West Boylston St/Gold Blvd. The girl that took my order was so amazing. She called the baker when I was there and sent her photos of what I was looking for. Both my son and his wife are Marines and I wanted the cake to have the USMC emblem and the colors, but to make it look like a wedding cake. Not an easy task but she did it!!! Considering the time frame and half ass explanations, the cake was stunning and very tasty! The baker was reluctant to make a tower cake because I guess a customer had complained un the past? I didn't care! I begged her and she agreed and like I said, she did it beautifully! The cake was $85 which is nothing compared to the outrageously overpriced cake I got from Gerardos for my own wedding. didnt know any better back then and everybody raved about it. I paid an arm and leg for my wedding cake that tasted like any other cake - simply not worth the price! After this experience, I will NEVER go back to a "high-end" bakery! read more

The thing I like the most about this place is the space. From parking to shopping space. The staff is very friendly and they usually have everything you need. They might not have all the ethnic varieties but they are well stocked. The fruits and vegetables seem fresh. Everything is usually well marked and laid out for the customer. This store is always fairly clean and the staff actually ask you if they can help you when they are working in the aisles (which is rare in a grocery store). I love that they have done away with needing a loyalty card and have been shopping there more since they have done that. This Shaw's is horrendous. I am very disappointed I ordered a cake three weeks ago for pick up at 1:30 9/4/2015 and it was not ready when I got here. I also asked for a smash came and for a bakery clerk to call me if they couldn't do that and never got a call and was told today they can't do it. It's such a shame I feel forced to leave a one star review... I have been to the shaws in white city and it is always well organized, fairly quiet, and a great shopping place. When I tried the shaws on gold star blvd because I thought it would be better because it was "bigger" I was sadly mistaken... it is always pretty busy at this location I feel that there frozen items are rarely changed out because it is always sloppy and messy no matter what area of the freezer isle you are in (especially ice cream.) I have bought milk and cheese at this location that I personally feel smelt sour and made me feel uncomfortable to drink and eat. I had tried one more time and the same thing happened. Im not sure if it is a mixture of just TOO BIG OF A STORE, a poor staff, or not enough restock... needless to say I no longer return to this shaws... read more
