Mary's is about 5 minutes outside of downtown Sylvan Beach, so easy to get to for locals or vacationers to Oneida Lake. We were seated quickly when we arrived around 8:30 on a Saturday, and were glad to get there when we did as it filled up quickly just after we got our table. Patrons have the choice of booths, tables, or up at the counter - just how a diner should be. My wife ordered the pancakes and sausage while I opted for the 3 egg breakfast (sunny side up, always) with some bacon and rye toast. My wife raved about her pancakes and was able to get sugar-free syrup with her meal. Portions were generous and food came out quickly. Our waitress was friendly and kept drink refills of water, juice, and coffee rolling. Prices are reasonable and the menu was quite large. Lunch is also available and we'd love to come out and try that sometime. Mary's succeeds in what makes a good diner worth driving to. My only drawback would be the wait to get a table on the weekend if you arrive at the wrong time. It was standing room only when we left.

When my family entered the restaurant, we immediately like the rustic country decor. We were immediately greeted by a woman who confirmed our reservations and showed us to our table. The restaurant was quickly filling up and it took a few moments for a server to come to our table. After about 15-20 minutes it seemed like the staff got it going and food was coming out to tables and customers that ordered the Mother's Day brunch were getting their food quickly. My kids ordered the chocolate chip pancakes. One with game and one with sausage. My daughter is very picky with her pancakes and ate them all. I had the brunch. I had eggs Benedict, spinach omelette, ham and cheese omelette, bacon, fresh fruit, and two croissants. The food was delicious and fresh. I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to stopping by again.

The Tasting Room is a bar/restaurant that is owned by Epicuse. My friend and I went there Tuesday…read morenight for their Downtown Dining Week special. This was a first visit for both of us. We walked in at 5pm on a Tuesday and had our choice of tables. We picked a small table next to the wall to be further away from the chill of the door opening. We were greated immediately by the sweet bartender who was also taling care of the tables at that point. At the table there was a carafe of water and glasses. I can't tell you how much I appreciate when restaurants do this. I drink a lot of water and it's nice to have it available. The ambiance of the room was nice. Candle on the table, string lights throughout, and local artwork on the walls that feature a new collection each month. Our server/bartender got our drink order right away. I had a glass of wine and my friend ordered one of their cocktails that she said was amazing. For the dining week special we each got an appetizer, entree, and dessert for $30. Appetizers Goat Cheese with Roasted Beets. Overall delicious. The goat cheese was very overpowering though so it may benefit from more beets, maybe an addition of a beet sauce, and or some sort of cracker or pita. Cheese Tasting Plate. Delicious. Could use more that 3 crackers. Best bleu cheese I've ever had. It literally just melted in your mouth. The jam that came on the plate was fantastic and unusual. Some sort of bacon jam that was really smoky. My friend liked it so much she tracked it down next door in Epicuse to purchase it. Entree We both ordered the Chicken and Jambalaya. I'm not a person who ever orders chicken but I really wanted the jambalaya. Lol. Both were fantastic. I do not like Chicken with skin usually but the skin was so fantastically crispy, the chicken was tender, and that jambalaya was amazing. Perfect amount of heat and so much flavor. Dessert They served us the Dessert Flight and it was stunning. Cannoli, Tirimisu, and Chocolate Pot de Crème. It was fantastic and the perfect ending to a great meal. Throughout the entire meal many staff checked on us. The service was outstanding. As we were finishing it was definitely filling up for their Tuesday Trivia night which starts at 7. Before leaving be sure and check out Epicuse, the attached store, for many local foods and treats as well as an assortment of wine and liquor. They also have heat and go meals available for purchase.

Everything was absolutely incredible -- fresh, piping hot, packed with flavor, and so well seasoned. The masala dosa was amazing: perfectly crisp with the savory potato filling, and it came with coconut chutney, a spicier chutney, and sambar on the side, which gave every bite a completely different flavor. I'm so glad the sambar came with the dosa because it was delicious and tied everything together. The chicken was also so good -- juicy, flavorful, spicy, and came out incredibly hot and fresh. Nothing tasted heavy or like it had been sitting around; everything tasted like it had just been made. They do have quite a few vegan/vegetarian options on the menu if you're into that. The amount of flavor and depth in every bite was unreal. I was literally sitting there smacking my teeth because it was that good . Easily one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I'm already excited to come back and work my way through the rest of the menu. Absolutely worth it!
