My family made the drive out to Mary's this summer as we'd heard nothing but good things about the breakfast here. Mary's is about 5 minutes outside of downtown Sylvan Beach, so easy to get to for locals or vacationers to Oneida Lake. We were seated quickly when we arrived around 8:30 on a Saturday, and were glad to get there when we did as it filled up quickly just after we got our table. Patrons have the choice of booths, tables, or up at the counter - just how a diner should be. My wife ordered the pancakes and sausage while I opted for the 3 egg breakfast (sunny side up, always) with some bacon and rye toast. My wife raved about her pancakes and was able to get sugar-free syrup with her meal. Portions were generous and food came out quickly. Our waitress was friendly and kept drink refills of water, juice, and coffee rolling. Prices are reasonable and the menu was quite large. Lunch is also available and we'd love to come out and try that sometime. Mary's succeeds in what makes a good diner worth driving to. My only drawback would be the wait to get a table on the weekend if you arrive at the wrong time. It was standing room only when we left. read more

We enjoyed Mary's Diner very much. We went 3 times when in the area and food was great and our server was very accommodating. He let us have our dog outside on the patio and even got him some water and a slice of bacon. We went for lunch and didn't realize they were closing in 15 minutes. They still took care of us with a smile. We will definitely be back for the great food and friendly people!! read more

Just ok, average tiny diner. Cook yells every time food is ready instead of a bell or something. We go occasionally.

They turn away legitimate service dogs. They would rather pay the fine and not allow the dog and handler. they also turned away a party of 8 saying they had no room inside and then 10 minutes later took in 2 separate parties of 6 and 8+. Great little old school diner. The staff was very friendly and there was a lot of seating for the size of their dining area. The menu was small but had all the breakfast classics. I ordered an eggs and hashbrowns plate, short stack of pancakes, and a cup of coffee. The bill was only $10 -- amazing in this day and age! If you find yourself in the area, stop by for breakfast or lunch. They are open 7am - 3pm daily. read more

Came here for breakfast. It was awesome. We are vegetarians, and we ordered a lot of sides and created our own special breakfast set. Candice our server was very accommodating, efficient & friendly. There is not a lot of places that are open for breakfast with vegetarian options in Sylvan beach area for early risers. So happy they open at 5:30am! read more

Incredible food. We are From Maine and were on the way to Pulaski and used Yelp to find this gem. All the reviews were well deserved 5 stars except for one "KAREN" who seems to be very unhappy in life. After reading her review I had to try the sausage gravy and it was piping hot! Every staff member wears welcoming and checked back after we took our first bites to make sure we were happy. Wish we had a place like this in Maine!!! read more

Was there on 7/30/22 at around 11:00 a.m. for a late breakfast. Place is very clean, good service, good food, but portion size of homefries very small on my wife's order. I got the 222. Pancakes not very big. This breakfast not worth $11.00. Would have been worth it on old price on there web site as it needs to be updated. Both breakfast over priced for what you get. I wouldn't have expected to pay this much for a place off the beaten path. I would have made this a regular stop if prices were lower as posted on there web site. BIG difference when you get there menu. read more

Worst breakfast experience I have ever had. I ordered pancakes and biscuits and gravy and my biscuits and gravy came out ice cold. When I politely asked for them to simply take it off my check as I hadn't eaten any of it and was grossed out by the cold gravy, multiple people refused to take the meal off my bill even though I hadn't eaten it. Eventually, the owner came out of the kitchen and yelled at me very unprofessionally and called me a "child". I love diners and supporting small business but this was an extremely unpleasant experience and not how anyone should talk to a customer trying to support their business. read more

Now that the Vienna Hotel is shut, we go to Mary's when we are in the area. The food , service and atmosphere are great. We really like the place and will continue to go there. It is better than any in mid-town Sylvan Beach. read more

The first thing you notice is it is hospital clean. Very impressive. The food was sorta bland, but the coffee and service was impeccable. It's family owned and operated so don't stare at the waitress too long or the line cook will come out and do his fatherly duties. It's a local hangout and we stuck out like a sore thumb, but were treated very well. read more
