a plate of food and a cup of coffee

We enjoyed Mary's Diner very much. We went 3 times when in the area and food was great and our server was very accommodating. He let us have our dog outside on the patio and even got him some water and a slice of bacon. We went for lunch and didn't realize they were closing in 15 minutes. They still took care of us with a smile. We will definitely be back for the great food and friendly people!!

    Old scale on the counter.

The good was good and it came out fast and HOT. The service was fast and kept my coffee filled. Cute little place and like the old scale, stove, and other old items.

Came here for breakfast. It was awesome. We are vegetarians, and we ordered a lot of sides and created our own special breakfast set. Candice our server was very accommodating, efficient & friendly. There is not a lot of places that are open for breakfast with vegetarian options in Sylvan beach area for early risers. So happy they open at 5:30am!

Just ok, average tiny diner. Cook yells every time food is ready instead of a bell or something. We go occasionally.

Always a great breakfast with fast friendly service. We love Mary's. My favorite is the stuffed French toast.

Breakfast itself was very basic diner fare -- eggs, toast, and the usual staples. Nothing fancy, but it was inexpensive and filled the plate. The atmosphere gave me strong old truck-stop diner vibes. Some people may appreciate that nostalgic roadside feel, but for me the restaurant felt a bit dirty and very worn down, like it hasn't had much maintenance or updating in quite a long time. One of the people dining with me ordered a lunch special of beef and mashed potatoes, and unfortunately it was extremely greasy and didn't seem freshly made. It was bad enough that they couldn't finish it. Another downside for me was that the diner is cash-only. We rarely carry cash, so we had to use the ATM, which added extra cost to the visit. Overall, Flo's is definitely a very old-school diner experience -- cheap food, tiny coffee prices, and a truck-stop style atmosphere. I'm sure that works perfectly for some people looking for a quick, inexpensive meal, but it just wasn't the right fit for me.

I'm a believer that it should be ready at a table or given to you by your server. The small town feeling can be very intimidating for someone ethnic like myself. You'll get a couple of looks at most but don't let that stop you from the amazing food.

They didn't sell any ice cream but they told us about What's the Scoop. We walked down a little ways and ran right into it. It was busy! So many people out enjoying the night and their sweet treats. There were a good amount of tables to sit at. I appreciate the big umbrellas! You can enjoy your cold treat without the hot sun beating down on you. There were big menu boards and lists of ice cream available. There are so many options! There's ice cream, Dole Whip, milk shakes, sundaes. So many goodies to pick from. There was also a non dairy cookies and cream available. The cherry Italian ice listed so that was my pick. My daughter got a small scoop of brownie batter. I ordered a kid's scoop of the cherry Italian ice. Holy cow! I thought my daughter ordered a double scoop but it was their small portion. My kid's scoop would blow competitors out of the water. My scoop was huge for a kid's scoop. In most ice cream joints, my scoop would be considered a small. The brownie batter was very chocolatey! It was very creamy was well. The cherry Italian ice was very vibrant in color. It was also very flavorful. We sat at a cute table on the sidewalk next to the street and enjoyed our goodies. This town is something you see in Hallmark movies and this ice cream joint fits right in it. It's cute, local and they serve some yummy goodies. The staff is really sweet. It's hard not to fall in love with this place. I look forward having goodies here all week.

The area does get packed. It is a pet-friendly area, which is good. Overall, a nice ambiance. My aunt did feel it was more on the pricier side which is why I deducted a star. The great thing is everyone enjoyed the ice cream, we just wish the ice cream was homemade.
