This is my favorite grocery store such that I sometimes drive 30 miles to get here since there is no Wegmans near us. I'm currently eating here prior to shopping, since food shopping whilst hungry is not a good idea at all for me. I ordered the large 24" pizza from the cafe. It was on sale for $10 + $2/topping. First of all, we're vegan so I order the pizza without cheese, sauce only, then add a bunch of veggies. We chose spinach, onion, green pepper, sweet peppers, roasted tomatoes, broccoli on one half, banana peppers and pineapple on the other half. Our pizza was top notch! It was so tasty and flavorful! It had just the right amount of sauce and veggies. The crust was baked to perfection. The young man who took my order was able to easily understand my topping requests and even allowed me to replace the cheese with spinach at no charge. I highly recommend Wegmans Pizza! read more

Wegman's is a great grocery store. The fresh fruit and vegetables are the best in Frederick. Moreover, the fresh seafood and meat are great as well. Wegmans is open til midnight every day, how awesome is that?! It's great for groceries because you can get all of your basics, as well as gourmet and high end products. For example, they have vanilla bean pods in the baking aisle which I've never seen at Giant. It is a huge store so it might take a couple of visits to familiarize yourself with the layout. I particularly like the produce section since they have a large, fresh selection of traditional and organic fruits and veggies. The star of the show is the prepared foods section. Personally, I think it's hit or miss. The baked goods are amazing... I can't get enough of the croissants! Normally I'm not pressed for pies but the chocolate peanut butter pie is decadent and delicious. They bake a mean chocolate chip cookie too. The hot foods bar sucks though. Just about everything I've tried has been bland, such as the wings, Mac and cheese, mozzarella sticks, etc. The hot bar is expensive too, it'd be cheaper to just get appetizers at a bar. The subs are good however, and I had a nice slice of white pizza once. My advice is to take a list when you go to Wegmans or you'll get sidetracked. Went in there the other day for lunch and I managed to find a nasty brown hair in my salmon from the hot bar. I addressed it with one of the employees and showed it to her. Her response, "Well, I don't know what that is." First off, don't insult my intelligence, it is obviously a hair. I'm a red head, my mother is a blonde, and it was a shorter brown hair obviously. She directed me to the chef who was putting out other trays of food. I brought it to the attention of the chef and not only did he brush it off, but acted like I was the biggest inconvenience ever. Didn't even take the time to look at the tray that was sitting there. If you got hair in your salmon recently, sorry guys, I tried. Will not be eating here ever again. Wegman's has really grown on me. I tend to avoid grocery "superstores" but their prices are great, the selection of organic is decent and the produce seems fresh. I love the one-stop-shop concept. I'd love to see them carry more organic & *LOCAL* produce/meats since there's so much of that in Frederick County. Lots of parking & checkout lines - although this place can get quite packed. My family has been a loyal customer since the Frederick Store opened many years ago. We come to Wegmans, not only for the quality products, but for the customer service. Over the past year, my husband and I have seen a drastic dip in the quality of personnel and customer service but today was my breaking point. After a long week of work, I was shopping with my 20 month old son. To help my shopping experience, I always buy 2 cookies. I give my son one cookie and keep the 2nd in the bag so when they ring me up, the cashier can charge me twice since by the end of the shopping trip my son has eaten and enjoyed the delicious cookie. Although, today the cashier and her manager told me that this is against store policy and a 20 month old baby CANNOT eat a cookie without paying for it. I explained that I was paying for it and that was the reason I bought 2 cookies so that they can charge me twice. The Cashier's Manager (I believe his name was Darren) accused me of stealing and then charged back to the cookie section of the Frederick Store putting 3 individual cookies in 3 different bags and marched back asking what type of cookie my son consumed. He asked firmly... "Did the cookie have Walnuts int it, was it Chocolate Chip or did it have frosting on it???" Clearing, he did not understand when I told him that my son ate the same cookie that was in the bag that I was already charged for when i asked them to charge me twice. By the way... the single cookie was $0.49 so there couldn't have been a differential of more than a penny or two in the 2nd cookie if it weighed less or more. This experience was quite embarrassing because the Cashier's Manager (Again...I believe his name was Darren) made quite the scene. I did speak with a Manager on my way out and he didn't seem to care about my experience the slightest. My family spends about $1,000 per month at the Frederick Store. I will be taking our money elsewhere due to this very poor experience. I do hope you can improve your customer service so another good paying and loyal customer does not have this experience. read more

I ordered and paid online for a cake for a farewell party for a friend retiring. So sorry I paid in advance. It looks like crap. Hey Wegmans.....teach your bakery employees how to write on a cake. It was supposed to say "Goodbye Sweet Marcy". The words "Goodbye" and "Sweet" are spaced almost across the entire cake and the name "Marcy" can't even be read as it's squinched in barely on the right. What's happened with their fresh pizza which the customer bakes at home? My sister went to Wegmans yesterday to pick up their cold pizza to bake at home. They used to be fabulous and only about $12.00 for a large supreme. Well, she brought it home. It was obviously previously cooked as the cheese was not in individual shreds, but already melted and cooled before packaging. In addition, the price was $28.00 (both on the packaging and the receipt). Why would a customer pay ANYTHING for a pizza one has to just warm up that was previously baked? I wrote to the corporate office last night and, at this writing, I have not received a response. Since I'm a shut-in and don't drive any longer, I cannot just drive the item back to the store with the receipt. My sister lives in another county and will not be back for a few days. I am not happy, to say the least. As a side issue, I used to love Wegmans and praised it to the skies. But them being out of a lot of items and going to their own brands instead of having national brands has disappointed me. Other products like the crostadas and fresh (unpasturized) orange juice, the latter they don't carry any longer. The crostadas used to be made in store and were great. Since they are made outside in recent times, they are not as good. In fact, they are not worth buying any longer. But, this pizza situation, really has burned me. read more

My family has been looking for an alternative to our nearby Weis Markets, where social distancing and mask-wearing is inconsistently observed on the part of employees (and management doesn't give a chirp). Wegman's is the closest so far, but I can't quite pull the trigger. First, the good: Their produce department is stellar. The produce is fresh and inexpensive, both higher-quality and cheaper than any other store I have visited in Frederick. For example, I recenty purchased a pack of 6 big, lovely bell peppers for $5. Weis usually has them 3 for $5, and Safeway 2 for $4 (and they're smaller as well!). I've gotten shiitake mushrooms here for $6.99 a pound, which is unheard of. I bought a one pound box of organic salad greens here on my last trip for $3.99. And we used up the whole package without having to toss any because it was slimy. Again, totally unheard of anywhere else. Real value, and I might come here again from across town just to get produce. There are some things I don't love but would tolerate, such as the way some aisles are organized (why is the still water time zones away from the carbonated??). But the killer for me, and why we cannot make this store our main grocery, is the lack of brand diversity. When I lived near this Wegman's many years ago I used to shop here frequently and had no complaints. But I hadn't been in, I dunno, 10 years? And I was very surprised to find that in many cases, the only brand available for a certain item is Wegman's own brand. For example, my mom really wanted Dietz and Watson, but Wegman's deli exclusively carries their own brand. I did go ahead and buy one pound of sliced Wegman's turkey breast. I kept asking for thick slices and the guy behind the counter would increase by like a microscopic hair each time and hold them up for my ok, until I finally gave up and accepted medium cut. When we tried to use it later, it just fell apart in our hands; there were no slices but just pressed turkey pieces. And the flavor was not wonderful. In most stores, that wouldn't matter because there would be multiple brands to choose from. Here, it means we just can't use their deli. read more

I AM LIVID!!! I went to this Wegmans to go grocery shopping and when I opened my door from parking, there were two store employees hanging out in the cart area that I parked directly next to. One female and one male both looking around their late teenage ages. To my shocking surprise they were talking about "a 14 year old girl" that "had big tits" I was blown away! Those were their words exactly! They then proceeded to talk about how you could see pictures of her huge tits on Instagram. It took EVERYTHING in me not to say anything to them because I knew I would loose my temper. Instead, I bee lined to customer service and asked for the highest manager in the store. The first manager Michelle came shortly after ready to hear my complaint. You could see the same disgust and horror on her face that I had as I told her everything that had just unfolded. She quickly hauled tail down the hall to get a higher manager. Shortly after I was greeted by the second manager Matt. He nonchalantly walked up to me and asked me if I was being helped. I told him that I was and he responded asking me if I was waiting for Michelle. I told him "yes" and he said "Ok... well how can I help you?" I asked him if Michelle had already filled him in. We were literally around many customers that could hear everything so I didn't want to have to repeat it again because of the details. He replied that she did and didn't know what else I needed from him. I asked him if we could go outside so I could point out the two employees since it had just happened. The other customer service employees told me that there aren't cameras everywhere outside while I was waiting on a manager. He told me no and asked if I had seen their name tags. I told him that I didn't which was why I was trying to point them out. I expressed how they needed to be fired speaking like that on the job in uniform out in the open parking lot as customers are coming in. I told him how embarrassed I would have been had I had my 3 teenage boys with me when this happened. He then told me that he wouldn't be doing that and that he would handle them as he saw fit. Puzzled I asked him how was he going to handle it if he didn't know who it was? I also asked him why he didn't think this was a priority. I even asked him if he needed me to call the police so they could explain to him the severity of them sexually exploiting someone's 14 year old daughter. He told me to call the police and do what I needed to do. I was completely shocked. I said are you serious? He told me with the coldest look on his face "Yes! Do what you gotta do! I didn't understand where the hostility was coming from at all so I went outside and that's exactly what I did. When I spoke to the police they too couldn't believe how the manager handled the situation. They told me they would personally go speak with them and to contact Wegmans corporate office. I have my police report complaint and will be doing just that! read more

I like the atmosphere, some of the variety but their commitment to healthy food is superficial. I asked to look at the ingredients of their home baked Ancient Grain or whole rolls has VERY little whole grains just like the article in January Time (Google) pointed out. Even the clerk who brought me the ingredient list was surprised. Many Americans want whole grain but it's difficult to actually get. I guess they figure looking like whole grain is enough. It isn't. Another thing is they are not quick at restocking. Yesterday all of the Ezekiel bread was sold out! And we've noticed other things like the Amy's Soy Pizza has gone missing for weeks. Their self serve lunch foods are convenient but often greasy. Don't come here after six o'clock and expect to find a good variety. It's close to home and the first store we sort of bonded to since moving here from Northern Virginia where we had Wholefoods. They will put on extra cashiers when it's busy. read more

As a matter of fact, I moved to the south where there were no Wegman's and I constantly boasted about the Wegman's they built around the corner from me and how amazing it is; I could not wait to move back to Frederick and shop at Wegmans! Sadly, Wegman's may have gotten a little too big for their britches. I cannot tell you how many times i have had to point out rotten fruit, expired and stinky cheese, expired milk, how many times the shelves have been empty - seriously is there a shortage of blueberries, wonton wrappers and Campbell's Healthy Request Tomato Soup? Also the fruit and vegetables I am buying seem to rot within days - I bought apples and two days later they were rotted out. I do have to say their flower department is pretty fantastic and most of the staff are extremely friendly (unlike a nearby competitor). The seating area was nice and had several TVs. The only flaw is that while the store is open until 12 the buffet line shut down after 9. I can accept that because this store is so good. read more

Wegman's is a nice, reasonably priced place. The foods prepared are decent and well priced and they have some nice salads and salad bars. Lots of fruits and vegetables and the isles of food go on and on. They are a large, large building and have a many options. There is a seafood bar where one may order a glass of wine while they wait for their food to be cooked. The drink selection is incredible. I buy items to feed the homeless in Madison, Wisconsin. Great selection and great prices. I had some friends visiting in town a few weeks ago and we bought an entire family dinner to eat in a Hotel which was really fun. The cut mango wasn't ripe or in season. Unfortunately, some prepackaged items can't be checked to make sure they haven't gone bad yet. read more

I was certain I had been grocery store deprived after my first Wegman's experience. We just do not have grocery options like this where I am from. I've come to the conclusion that if you can't find it at Wegman's, you probably don't need it anyways. This is just a great store aside from one major issue....some of their employees are incredibly rude. Not the cashiers or speciality counter people. They are almost all very pleasant (aside from some cashiers being absolutely clueless about bagging) but other employees throughout the store need a crash course in not being jerks. They will step right in front of you and even make physical contact in order to get past you. If you need something on a shelf behind where they are socializing, forget it. It's just the weirdest thing and I can't figure it out. Maybe I just spend entirely too much time at the grocery store... I have a Wegman's near my home near Largo and I love that place! It's a special day to go shopping at Wegman's. I came up to the Wegman's in Frederick to meet up with Sean Berdy, the actor who plays Emmett in "Switched at Birth" on ABC Family before his performance later that night. Therefore, I'm only commenting on the food bar and the dining area. Of course, I love the fact that Wegman's is huge and thus, offer more selections for the consumers. Since I already had plans to have dinner afterwards, I only had a small fruit salad and Diet Coke. The fruit salad was $6.50!!!!! Holy moly! The first time I came here, I turned around and walked out because it was way too overwhelming and INSANE with no less than a thousand people trying to walk into the front doors. This place gets 3 stars on the weekend due to the store needing to place traffic cops in certain areas and 4 stars for during the week when it is not insanely busy. It is a great place once you breathe and take it all in - a lot of choices both organic and otherwise. It is HUGE .. wear your walking shoes. Wegmans, need I say more? It was such a luxury to go shopping there before going camping! We some amazing meats but I particularly loved their bratwurst it was so good on the grill. The already made chicken kabobs from werealso very tasty at first I was skeptical but the quality was really good. I also bough a whole 1 ft long Italian sausage rolled up in a spiral and we neglected to bring a knife with us there was no better experience camping than having that 1 ft long sausage, hot from the grill and tearing with our hands. I love the visual aesthetics of Wegmans. In addition, the quality of the products, and the vast selection makes shopping fun. They offer convenience and don't charge an arm and a leg for it. The staff are obviously taught excellent customer service skills. I am always impressed with their friendliness and willingness to help. They actually go out of their way to make your shopping experience excellent (not just "good"). For instance, I didn't see a cut of meat I usually get. I asked if they had anymore, and they told me they'd have more in a couple of hours. i drive about 35 minutes to shop there, and when they heard that i wouldn't be able to return, they volunteered to cut it while I finished my shopping. I told them not to go to that kind of trouble, but they gently insisted and even asked me how thick to make the cut! Amazing! Their cafe is huge, has a lot of seating, free wifi, and a great selection of food choices. No one compares to Wegmans! read more

I'm sorry, i guess i'm in the minority - but i just don't get it. YES, the prepared food section is awesome, if money is no object to you. We make a decent living, and i can somehow never justify the cost for all those yummies. For example, we spent $21 for lobster salad, around 1/4 pound. Yes, it was great - but who can afford that kind of extravagant spending? Also TOO big and overwhelming - i end up just walking up and down the aisles, staring at all the choices - and forgetting what i came for. I'll stick with Giant-Eagle (Rt. 40). No frills, but an excellent prepared food section, but without the high prices. Plus, i can actually find what i'm looking for and get out of there with it being an 'experience'. read more

Wegman's is strange, overwhelming, wonderful, and dangerous. My mom loves it and another friend talks about how great it is, so I went again today, a bit more rested than when we went the day after I arrived in town. I had a list and stuck to it, something I am going to need to do the majority of the time that I go there. There is so much selection of everything that it would be easy peasy to spend waaaay too much money there. There is a great gluten free section, a wealth of organic options, and even some local products. I bought a bottle of kombucha at a good price, and they sell it by the case! Once I have some paychecks coming in but before I start brewing my own, I will be happy to reward them for offering that by purchasing a case or three. In fact, they offer cases of a number of items I will likely purchase. There's all the non-hippie stuff, too, as well as most every non-food item you might need to fill your kitchen. The only drawback to this amazing mass of stuff is that it's going to take me a while to know where all of the things I need and want live. Even the manager, who helped me find one of my should-have-been-easier-to-find items, was unsure where it was. He did help me find it, certainly faster than I'd have found it on my own, but only after we wandered to a couple of incorrect sections. All in all, a pretty darn great grocery store. read more

It gets so busy during lunch that you don't even have to worry about whether or not the foods been out for too long. They offer a huge pastry selection and unique/local/organic brands to choose from! I have mixed feelings about this wegmans. In terms of selection of food it's unmatched in Frederick. Hands down it has most everything you'll need. Their hot food, salad bar, soups, and sushi are also amazing and definitely unmatched as far as supermarket munchies go. Where it gets iffy is prices and customers service. Prices: Produce you can definitely get for less at places like Frederick Bazaar, Asian market, and the farmers market when it's available. This is especially true if you're just looking to pick up the basics like onions, lettuce and tomatoes. Their meats are incredibly expensive. In fact a fish filet at wegmans is usually 20-30% more than giants and easily double the price you'd get at Costco. Customers service: at this wegmans it's a mixed bag. Sometimes the folks working are phenomenal. All the people in coffee, the deli, the bread area and cheeses are exceptionally helpful and so nice they're always smiling and joking with each other. I've never had a bad experience there. Now produce is a different story. I go really early after my gym class and not all the produce is quite out yet and if something is missing and I ask the person stocking usually grabs me some or let's me know when it will be available... and other times they have zero intention of helping me and make a point of looking down and away so they don't have to help... like dude I get it I worked retail it's annoying to help folks sometimes but it's a part of the job -.- the tellers are also a mixed bunch. Some are as friendly as can be while others not so much. Moms staff, for example, is literally so nice. They are all beyond helpful and kind. I get it, it's a smaller boutique grocery store, but still customers service should be good at all the grocery stores. If you asked me in order of quality of customers service I'd say moms- Asian market- Frederick bazaar- wegmans/Costco- Aldis- Giants Overall it's not a bad experience shopping here. Wegmans has an amazing array of products. I am continually surprised by the off-the-wall things I can find here! I find that the prices are quite competitive. Wegmans sends 6 weeks of coupons out to their club card members at a time, each week has a total of $7 off. You can also find additional coupons throughout the store. Wegmans also carries an astounding amount and variety of prepared foods. I have sampled pretty much everything and have had no complaints. Pro-tip: If you can, go shopping when the store first opens or in the last 90 minutes to avoid the crowds. You won't have much selection for prepared foods at these times however. read more

I can't stand that Maryland won't allow grocery stores to sell wine and beer! The amazing wine and beer selection found at other Wegman's is missing in this location. Grrrrrrrrrrr!!!! Pretty much my favorite grocery store in the Frederick area. The bakery is awesome, with some really great artesian bread and other baked goods. They have a great selection of aged cheese as well. Their store brand brie is the bomb. And of course a deli with all sorts of meats. Even if you're not looking to do traditional grocery shopping, that's okay too because there's a cafe, sandwich shop, hot food bar, and a little grab-and-go convenience store area. So you can basically eat and grab coffee here even if you weren't doing any actual grocery shopping. Cool. I personally usually judge a grocery on how good their ethnic section is, and Wegman's doesn't disappoint. The only negative, which I agree with other reviewers, is that logically the store makes no sense in terms of where stuff is at. But once you've been a few times and get the hang of the layout, then it's really not a problem. read more

We LOVE Wegmans. We do almost all of our grocery shopping there and actually enjoy it! We stick to the Wegman's brand items as much as possible because the prices are great. (I think other name brands might be a touch more expensive here than other stores, but that is ok with us because we love Wegmans "Food You Feel Good About". The prepared food sections can get a little expensive too, so we try to eat before we go. They also have a GREAT pharmacy deal until April 2012: Purchase any subscription at the Wegman's Pharmacy and get $20 off of your groceries! I have already done it like 4 times! UPDATE: I went to Wegman's yesterday and saw the cashier wearing a pedometer. I asked her about it, and she told me that Wegman's holds employee contests that revolve around healthy living and eating on and off the clock. Good for them standing behind their marketing in a tangeable way. very impressive. read more

Wegman's is my favorite food store. I love the fact that you can get pretty much anything you want. For those that haven't visited, it both your favorite regular grocery store (e.g., Giant Food, Martins, etc.) AND Whole Foods. Prices are low for regular grocery items, and I like that they have frozen prices on certain staples frozen for an extended time period. We also like that you can get great cold cuts, organic, and amazing cheeses too. Wife loves the Mediterranian food bar, and we always have to get some sushi grade tuna. We also have gotten New England/Canadian lobster here for boiling ourselves and find that they are consistently priced competitively and very meaty. We have shopped most at Gainesville (we used to live in Manassas)...We don't have a Wegmans in Eastern Panhandle of WV YET, but I am betting they will locate one there in the next 3-5 years. Wegmans is a nice store but the prices are HIGH!! So HIGH!! I was able to find some of the things I needed but they were not for a reasonable price. The staff was very helpful. They are friendly as well. The produce section is great but as I said.... the items are way over priced. read more

There is nothing better than Wegmans! Nothing comes close to Wegmans for fresh food, organic and natural selections, prepared foods, you name it! From the parking lot to the amazing colors and delicious smells, you could literally enjoy half the day here! Plus if you need to meet someone for coffee or lunch, everybody can eat exactly what they are craving! Personally I love the sushi, all the bakery items, and the incredible selection of organic fresh fruits and vegetables! Every location they open is better than the one before! As a Rochester NY native, I am a Wegmans loyalist! read more
