I come here every once in awhile. I have a couple of grocery stores that I rotate through, this being one of them. First off a couple of things I don't like- the layout. It really Makes no sense and is overall confusing and I hate it. Next, the organic. Chicken is never fresh. Every time I buy it it has a weird smell and is slimy. Produce is hit or miss. I've seen rotten fruit in the produce aisles and almost bought rotten banana once. Got some strawberries on Sunday which looked pretty good. Monday they were all moldy looking. Very disappointing! The staff is always nice though, and they do have some good prices on some stuff I like-like King Arthur flour. Overall, it's ok. Could be better. IDE rather shop here than places like Walmart but not better than places like Moms or Common Market read more

I have very mixed feelings about the Wegman's in Frederick. Most of the time I find myself there when it is very busy and uncomfortable to shop in. I buy a lot of fresh produce and was surprised by how bad the produce was the one time I went but when I went back it seemed adequate. The food bar is pretty pricey but I think the regular groceries and organics are priced fair. I will only go there when it is convenient. It is too inconsistent. It could be that the store is still pretty new so I will give it another shot. I had really high hopes when I heard this store was coming to town! Update 3/22/12 Since I wrote this original review I found out that Wegmans is a big promoter of locally grown produce. I have to admit the produce is much better at the Common Market, but, if I need to pick something up quick I will now stop at the Wegmans. read more

Nice addition to Frederick area. Great bakery, wonderful meat (including nice selection of aged meats), seafood, and cheese (aged double/triple cream bries, morbier, epoisse, taleggio, stiltons) departments. Nice not to have to go to a specialty cheese shop in the District for those special occasional gourmet treats. Prepared foods, both hot and take-home, seem pricey, but the food court seating is very nicely done and well-thought out. Not our weekly store, but glad it's nearby. read more

If you like overpriced produce and canned goods, you'll love this place. The only advantage I find here is an abundance of products, many of which are brands I've never heard of. The store is invariably crowded, which means it'll take you forever to clear the checkout counter. I have friends who swear by this place -- and I'm at a complete loss trying to figure out why. It's not shopper friendly. The in-store cafe serves the most tasteless food in the region. The clerks -- if you're lucky enough to find any of them -- are totally uninformed about the products being sold here. The cuts of meat are absolutely the worst in the region. The store is often dirty. Shop here at your own risk! Frankly, I'd rather shop at Safeway, Giant, or Giant Eagle. read more

What a experience! My favorite is the meat and seafood dept. cured meats to my choosing. And the butcher will cut to my specifications. Smoked a 9lb pork shoulder on my green egg. Wow. Amazing. I bought shrimp,scallops, mahi, and tuna steaks. Although the mahi and shrimp was 23 dollars a lb. you get what you pay for. I'm sold on Wegmans. Everything is fresh down to the sushi and buffets. I shop once a week here. If you don't you are missing out. read more

This should be the model that all grocery stores follow. We frequent about once-twice a month, and will be going much more frequently when the Germantown store opens in a year or two. You will probably spend more money here than at Giant, Shoppers Food Warehouse, or Safeway, if you like to buy prepared/speciality foods like I do. The regular grocery prices seem on par to the other stores. I can spend a couple hours here easily. I spend most of my time just oohin and aahing at the selection of cheeses, teas, sushi (which they can custom make for you) and desserts. The desserts remind me of the kinds you'd find in Europe. The pay-by-the-pound food bar is incredible, too. Fantastic. read more

Fantastic selection of items! I spotted many things I'd not seen elsewhere (and this comes from someone who regularly shops at three or four different grocery stores/supermarkets). Just be careful with the prepared food -- it can add up very quickly, although I was quite impressed by the very comfortable seating area. read more

The sushi is outstanding. Made to order or premade. Hot pizza of all kind. The cheese pizza was awesome. The pub area has cut back on hours but they really cook a great scallops dish. read more

The staff at this particular Wegman's makes it a great place to shop. The cheese department has a great selection, and you can try anything. Everything is really fresh, and there is a large selection of food items that can be hard to find. read more

I always stop here on my way to Gettysburg. The fruit is fresh and they carry my favorite brand of yogurt.

You can't find a selection of food like this anywhere else in Frederick. Super clean and friendly staff. Their organic game is on point. Only downside is your paying the premium at this store. Love the wings and ready to eat stuff not to mention the huge olive and cheese section! read more

Someone told me that Wegmans is the amusement park for groceries. The person who told me this is right! What I love about this store is the environment, the food court, and the choo-choo train that stands above the refrigerated cheese section. What I don't like about the store is the busy crowds and the long lines at the checkout lanes, including the self-checkout lanes where people have more than 10 or 20 items avoiding the regular checkout. read more

Wegman's is good for a family that wants to go out to eat but everyone can't decide on what they want. You can get sandwiches, pizza, calzones, Asian, barbecue, home style, or select from a big salad bar. It's relatively inexpensive as long as you don't eat too much (you pay by the pound) and it's quick. Also, if you need to pickup items at the grocery store after eating, you are already there. The grille offers better food made fresh, but they should try to add a little variety to it -- it's mostly American fare. One big complain of mine about Wegmans is that they used to offer a lot of choices for Indian food and now it's just a few items. We love Indian food and although some of the Indian restaurants offer take-out, there really is no place in Frederick that offers quick Indian food for a low price. In Frederick there is a big hole in the Indian food segment of the restaurant market. UPDATE: The grille no longer exists, probably from lack of demand. In other states the Wegman's grille also offers beer/wine, so maybe that's why this Wegmans doesn't have enough demand. It was removed and replaced with additional seating. read more

I have been to many grocery stores in my lifetime but I have to tell you that THIS experience was amazing! The selections of fresh fruits and vegetables among many other items will wow you! Great big grocery store. Imagine something like Costco but with decorations, a food bar, and not having to buy everything in bulk. Can get very busy and crowded on weekends. Food bar is nice. Great service as well. Rather large facility. Very clean compared to other stores. read more

This is the absolute, greatest market of all. I always stop in at Wegman's when visiting Maryland. They offer international and organic food Great dining experience with so many choices. Large and incredible salad bar. Great selection of craft brews. Subs, ready to cook meals. The biggest candy section ever. Italian bistro, French bakery, seafood market, meat market, catering, gift shop, florist, deli, pizza, cheese shop, coffee shop, pharmacy, takeout food, sushi counter, sit-down restaurant and so much more. Shopping at Wegmans is always a good experience, but recently I had an excellent experience! I received their seasonal magazine that featured a new item that I was excited to try, veggie burgers. However, I was disappointed to find that they did not have them at our local store. I expressed my disappointment in a message to Wegmans & I was immediately contacted by the store manager. He assured me that they would have them within the week. He followed up within a couple days to confirm that they now had them in stock. Mr Griffin was very helpful, professional, and resolved my issue quickly. I appreciate the excellent customer service that I received and it's just another reason why I love shopping at Wegmans. read more

Their great meat and cheese selection makes it worthwhile to occasionally shop at this store. We've tried various prepared items from the food court and usually have been disappointed. This must be where the past sell by date items end up. The chicken dishes (BBQ) were dry and tasted VERY old. Threw it away. Other than some great southern style potato salad, haven't found much worthy of trying twice. The layout of the store is confusing and takes a while to figure out. Some things, like eggs, are in several different places. We were looking for a type of cracker and stuffing mix and even the employees couldn't send us in the right direction. Finally found what we were looking for on our 4th visit. Every 4th trip or so to the grocery, we get enough courage to brave a trip to Wegmans. Fortunately, there are several new food markets in downtown Frederick with great cheese and specialty items. Fun shopping too. read more

I do a lot of cooking and a lot of grocery shopping. I like the dedication to customer service and the very nice environment that Wegman's provides. But, as time goes on, I do have a few concerns. One is that they are continually removing known brands from their shelves in order to stock shelves with primarily "Wegman's " brands. Just recently they dropped Edy's ice cream, and most types of green tea, to be replaced by their own brands. I see this reduction in brand choices all over the store. The other issue is prices of most fresh meats and fish, which have always been high, and which make it difficult to plan many meals here if you have to go elsewhere for meat/fish. I am wondering if Wegman's is feeling a very negative impact from the new Walmart that is just up the street from them, and are having to move a higher percentage of grocery items to their brand in order to preserve their bottom line in Frederick. read more

One of the best and least crowded Wegmans I have ever visited. The bakery (cookies, bagels, breads) and prepared food items (sushi, Chinese, salads, hoagies, pastas, meats, soups, cheese trays) are simply amazing. You can take them out or eat in the large Market Cafe, which also has a kids' play area and sometimes has entertainment in weekend nights. The grocery store and its wine selection are also solid. read more

Not a fan -- and don't understand what all the fuss is about. First of all, loud, echo-y, crowded. Secondly, WAAAAY overpriced. Sure, the selection is good, but the prices aren't. And finally, bring your checkbook if you get the buffet food. It's by the pound, and VERY expensive when you get to the checkout. Chinese is very greasy, everything is just bad steamtable food. Again, maybe it's the selection that blinds people to the fact that the quality just isn't there. read more

I haven't bought anything from here besides the cakes, everything about the cake was perfect and yummy. Must get another one! Checkout was a breeze and it was rather busy when I went sometime around Christmas. read more
