Something you gotta know about me-- I LOVE me some Wegmans. Not only do they have pretty affordable products when it comes to their brand, their food is pretty healthy. But I especially love that they're open until midnight and they have microwaves. The reason why I'm writing this review is because this particular Wegmans is HUGE!!!!!! Sooooo much space, and I love Wegmans that have an upstairs. The Woodbridge, VA Wegmans and the Fairfax, VA have an upstairs and it's the best. Though the Fairfax one is littered with GMU freshman. Representing 2019, W is for Wegmans. As my girlfriend & I have commented on some occasions particularly when we've gone to grocery store together is they are all annoying, no perfect store. Wegmans at 3-stars is definitely above median as far as grocery stores go, but I have my complaints about them in spite of some solid positives. Only ones get greater than 3-stars would be Lidl in Columbia & Harris-Teeter in Fulton & Laurel have been positive experience, but HT prices average pretty high. When I've mentioned I'm going or went to Wegmans for groceries, people often comment they are expensive. While Wegmans isn't as cheap as Aldi, Lidl, or Wal-Mart, prices are a mixed bag here with some deals & would say cheaper than Harris-Teeter on average. I think even crappy grocery store Giant is no cheaper than Wegmans, & Safeway runs on expensive side too. In late 2010's, my experiences at Wegmans was mainly buffet mostly at Columbia location but also had been to other locations. My office is near Columbia one, so it was an occasional lunch option when I wanted to do buffet. In 2019, I believe buffet was $9.99/lb. I'd carefully load up, & the price would get to double digits, maybe like $13 or 15. One time I had work travel to Largo, MD in a prior company near Wegmans over there in 2013 or 2014, may have been $8.99/lb then. I was starving at 2:30 PM that day & really loaded up with a ton of delicious food, & I was horrified when my total was like $21 in 2013-2014. I forked up money, but was upset but then a little less upset after pigging out on all the delicious food. Mac n' cheese, various meats, rice, etc. are all yummy. One noteworthy lunch break from my office was on Monday, December 30, 2019. Parking garage was wet from cars coming in from rain, & I slipped landing on my back! I hurt my back. Thankfully, my New Year Day 2020, I was doing a lot better, but those last few days of 2019 weren't best. When Covid hit, buffet went away, but it came back by 2022. In July 2022, I was at a new Wegmans in Alexandria & was shocked when I saw $14.99/lb for buffet. I was going to do, but I opted not to as I couldn't justify such a high price. I think I might've done pizza slices, which were pretty good, & if it wasn't then, I know I had their pizza before at sometime. I just remembered my friend complained about her burger. I never got a burger at Wegmans before, but to be fair, she is very fickle when it comes to food quality & service issues at restaurants. Like a 4-star restaurant experience might be a 2-star experience for her, but I do appreciate she speaks up for herself & politely complains to server when sometimes isn't right for her. I think I did fork over $14.99/lb one time in 2024, but I had to be very careful not to overdo it at high prices, & think I paid like $17 in total. In more recent years, I've used Wegmans more as a viable grocery store option most commonly Columbia location, which is my closest location from my home in Russett, western Anne Arundel County, but also occasionally Gambrills one. One of the big positives of Wegmans is there is a huge variety of food in pretty much every category. I've gotten a wide variety of foods & even things I'm not thinking to look for or wouldn't be able to find at some other grocery store. Store is pretty clean & like model train that goes around above dairy area; it's a nice touch. I have friend from Buffalo, who loves Wegmans, as they started in western New York. Even in Maryland, if you're a Buffalo Bills fan, you can buy Bills clothes here. Thankfully, you can also buy Ravens gear too. On April 8, 2024, a group of us viewed total solar eclipse in Rochester, NY. Reason for Rochester as opposed to Buffalo, Cleveland, or other areas that had eclipse was one friend was born in Rochester, so held a special place in his heart. He showed us his childhood home & also mentioned how Wegmans was established in Rochester. Checked online now, year established was 1916. My biggest complaint occurred two consecutive visits in late 2025-early 2026. First time I had gotten a small percent of grocery shopping done in there when I discovered they had no turkey bacon. You want pork bacon, regular turkey, chicken, beef, seafood, etc., tons of variety, but no turkey bacon. I was annoyed & decided to abandon the couple of items I already got telling an employee & rushed to Weis closing at 9. Perhaps a month later, I told my girlfriend about last time their lack of turkey bacon. I said we are going straight to that area, & if they don't have we leave. They didn't have. I asked a worker who checked back but confirmed none. I told the guy they lost about $100 in business & to tell management it was bad. On Thursday, 1/22 before Ice/Snowstorm on 1/25, a lot was picked over but I managed as they have enough variety of things where I didn't get my 1st choice but I made do. Came here to review the deli sandwiches. It was possibly the slowest experience I've ever had waiting for my sandwiches to get made, but the sandwiches were some of the best I've had around here and I'll definitely be back. We had the Thanksgiving seasonal sandwich and the Italian and they were both incredible. They were balanced, filling, and worth the money. The grocery store in general is okay. The customer service is very slow and inconvenient. They have lots of cool different items that you can't get in other places. We don't come here regularly, but our kids love the train, the car shopping carts with steering wheels, and the fact that their bathrooms have stools to make things accessible. We love the garlic Tuscan bread at the bakery too and their variety of seltzer flavors. read more

As of last week, I was a loyal customer of this Wegmans. I had been one for 12 years. I did almost all my shopping here, spending at least $1,000 a month. However, a string of incidents made me realize I'm no longer safe shopping here. The photo attached here is not from Wegmans. It's from Whole Foods in Columbia. Until recently, I considered this Whole Foods policy overly strict. But the incidents at Wegmans showed me why this kind of policy is necessary. In addition to grocery shopping, I frequently dined at the Wegmans cafe. One thing I observed there was that Wegmans is lax about loitering. There are many people who apparently go there just to hang out. I never saw them with food or beverages; they just sat around. When I went there in the morning, or in the evening, or during the day - same faces. Which is not my business. Many of these loiterers were clearly mentally unstable. Which is not my business either. I saw some incidents - one guy trashed the restroom, one guy was led away in handcuffs by the police (I have no knowledge of the incident) - but my shopping and dining were not disrupted. No place of business is immune to such incidents. And you can't expect a manager to eagle-eye every customer. But at Wegmans, the trend is especially clear. I guess if word gets out that a store with ample seating allows loitering, this is what you get. If you asked me, "Where do you see a lot of mentally unstable/possibly homeless people hanging out/loitering?", I would say, "Public libraries. Parks. Wegmans." Again, that's not supposed to be my concern. I wish it had stayed that way. I guess it had to happen eventually. One of the frequent loiterers, an older woman, displayed hostile behavior toward me for no apparent reason; I had never interacted with her before. She made a middle finger gesture at me and coughed loudly in my face. I reported her behavior to the manager. The manager spoke to her and then followed up with me. He told me she wanted me to stay as far away from her as possible. I told him I didn't want any trouble but that I wasn't going to play games. She and I were in two separate sections of the cafe; I was nowhere near her personal space. The manager seemed confused as to how to handle the situation. He said to me, "I guess just stay away from her?" Last week, I was in the store again. They have a balcony dining area. I stepped out there to see if I might like to dine there. Then, I heard the lady's voice behind me, yelling angrily at me, accusing me of "following" her. I went inside to report the incident. When I got to the customer service counter, the lady was there, ranting to the manager, telling them I had invaded her "space" (the balcony is a wide area with ample seating; it's not one person's private space), and that I was "following" her. She turned around, saw me, and yelled at me that she was going to call the police. I returned to the dining area and had my dinner. As I got up to leave, I saw the manager approaching me, accompanied by a police officer. The officer told me that the lady's complaints were not clear or coherent; I was being accused of "following" her because she had seen me in the same section of the store as her. The officer admitted that the lady seemed mentally unstable and advised me to avoid engaging with her. If I continue going to this store, the incident is bound to repeat. Again, all it takes is for me to coincidentally, inadvertently be in the same section of the store as her. The manager will continue to be carefully neutral. Hence, the lady will continue to feel enabled and empowered by this lax management. Will I eventually have to defend myself against false charges? That's not a good position to be in, even if you're innocent of wrongdoing. It's obviously not worth it in this case. Which brings me back to the Whole Foods policy, as shown in the photo here. I've learned, through these incidents at Wegmans, that Whole Foods is doing the right thing. A few years ago, Whole Foods was lax about loitering. But when loiterers hung around, incidents occurred. I saw one incident; a mentally unstable/possibly homeless man, who had taken up residence in the store's seating area, spat on a passing customer and made a middle finger gesture at him. But instead of trying to appease "both sides" and hoping the problem would resolve itself, the Whole Foods managers implemented a policy that may look overly strict at first, but if you're the kind of "customer" who's "inconvenienced" by such policies, you're part of a problem that can potentially drive legitimate paying customers away. This was the first time I've been to this Wegmans since I was in the area for a short stay. Wow, just wow. Amazed with how cool the store was. It was so big and had so many products. There was one part of the store where there was a train track on the ceiling with a train going around. It also has this really cool thing where you can put your cart on the escalator while you go up. I've never seen that before. They also had a huge parking lot and elevator that took you up to the store. You could also take your cart with you through the elevator. If I'm ever in this area again- I'd definitely come back. read more

This is a large wegmans store, with so much variety of selections of premade foods, which is the main reason for me to go to a grocery store ;-) the store is very spacious, clean and feels inviting. Well organized and easy to navigate. Among the premade foods, following are some of our favorites: the sandwiches are mostly made fresh, bread is soft, sushi is tasty, fish is fresh, pizzas are standard and pretty good, pare-made cheese boards are convenient, cookies are not overly sweet, come with gluten free and almond flour options ...and more. I've been to the Wegmans in Owings Mills plenty of times, but this was my first time getting the Columbia location a try. I visited this location at 6am, which is the same time they open their doors for the day. I was surprised that they were open so early, but I was happy because I need to grab something for lunch. When I arrived, the store was empty and the stockers were replenishing the shelves. I was still dark outside, but the parking garage is well-lit, so I felt comfortable walking from my car to the store. I was greeted while I was in the store, but more than one person. The store was clean and there were barely no other customers in the store. I decided to grab a salad and there were many fresh options to pick from. I quickly decided on the El Jefe salad and made my way to self-checkout. The salad was a bit pricey at 14 bucks and some change. The portion was ok, but I could have used a bit more. I think the two dressing and guacamole stored inside the container took up room that could have been filled with more salad ingredients. However, the salad was very tasty and very so fresh, I was less upset about the price. read more

I purchased a $119 worth of items which were rung up and bagged by the clerk. One of the bags broke while I was unloading them from my car. The next day, I found that a bottle of dressing had rolled under my seat and had been unrefrigerated. My wife also noticed that the bag of cheese we bought had a tiny puncture in it. I brought both items back with my receipt to request an exchange (something that, according to the Wegmans website, should be no problem. ) It clearly states customers can exchange or return items with a receipt. To my surprise, the customer service rep at this location told me that this store doesn't allow returns or exchanges on perishable items. At a grocery store?? That makes absolutely no sense. It effectively means that you don't allow returns or exchanges at all, since most items sold are perishable. This isn't just about $10 worth of cheese and dressing, it's about principle and consistency. Other Wegmans locations seem to follow corporate policy, but this Columbia store chooses to apply its own rules at the customer's expense. I called corporate and they didn't understand the inconsistency but said stores can set their own rules. I expected better. I've been a steady customer, but after this, Wegmans Columbia has lost my business. Over $10 worth of items and poor customer service, you lost a loyal shopper. read more

I've been coming to this location since it opened. The shelves are usually stocked. When they aren't, staff is usually there replacing items or making substitution suggestions. Everyone is pleasant and helpful. There was only 1 time I had a problem. My curbside order was given to another customer. It the moment, I was upset. But the staff was apologetic, re-shopped it (though some items weren't available by then), and gave me a gift card. But with service generally declining in America, one flub in several years still gets high marks from me. read more

In general the store has nice selections, and friendly employees. I was impressed with their nice flower selection, I went over there and the fragrance really hit me. This visit was my second visit, and I came back for the Wegmans plant based yogurt. It has a great taste and super creamy, better than others that I tasted. I decided to try their food from the buffet, not emerging I usually do but I thought, why not. The buffet was super clean, you could tell someone looks after it and keeps it stocked. I tried the vegan lo mein- although veggies tasted fresh, it didn't have flavor tbh veggie eggroll- I'd pass on this... First time at this location. It was pretty much similar to the other Wegmans' locations. This location could have been slightly larger because it had a lot twists and turns to navigate around the store or maybe it just appeared that way because it was my first there. The staff were okay, except the attendant in self-checkout who appeared to be disturbed by my request for a price check. Otherwise, the store has a little bit of everything, which was great. There was also ample parking. However, I would be in no rush to return, but it was not a bad experience overall. read more

Stopped in for a quick early morning trip today. I only need paper towels and mucinex. I was in and out in a mere couple of minutes. It was around 7 am shortly after they opened so not a soul was in there. The woman at the cash register was nice. I found out that their produce rarely goes on sale because as the women working the cash register said they have the freshest produce at the best price already. I go to this wegmans semi regularly but today I got a sandwich from the sandwich bar and it was such a positive experience I felt the need to leave a review. She truly went above and beyond and toasted the bacon extra so it'd be crunchy, and with the patron before us she similarly went above and beyond the call of duty. I did not see her name tag but she definitely deserves credit for making such a good sandwich. This may be the best chicken bacon ranch sub I've ever had. Wegmans is my favorite when I am looking for variety in veggies, fruit, or healthier options. I happened to be in the area and stopped by on a Monday afternoon to pick up a few lunch items for my daughter. The store is always well organized and clean. My visit this day was so sad and shocking. It's nothing against the store given that many grocery store in this region is out of so many things. The store didn't have any apples, full sized carrots, chicken, lunch meats, and so on. They even had a sign for the meats that limited each customer to two each.... and they were still out. The limited supply on items didn't affect my score. Upon our check out, the cashier was fast and courteous. Today we visited Wegman's in Columbia, MD, after a long time, and were unhappy with the checkout service. The cashier (OP# 491622) at 1:10 p.m. expected us to bag all our items and never offered to help unless I insisted. We have been shopping at this location since it opened, and this is the first time we have complained about poor service. This Wegmans is humongous but thankfully I found a parking spot super close to the entrance in the "peas" section--they identify their parking regions with fruits and vegetable names! They sell everything under the sun, including clothing and bulk items. The baked goods area is immense. There's also a pretty sizable cafe. There's even an upstairs balcony. Produce was well stocked, healthy, reasonably priced, and varied. I like going to a grocery store that has high-quality produce and at an affordable price. Unfortunately Wegmans isn't really close to my home but I was in the area for dinner. I used self-checkout, which was quick for a Friday night. This was not pleasant at all. Can you heat our pizza slices? Pizza Lady, "Don't have too, the light keeps it warm". Yikes! Poor Lighting, overpriced, and snotty rural employees. $15.99 weird stale hot food bar??? A whole lot of products you don't need. No lasagna noodles of any brand, except those microwave things. Poor and confusing location signs. Even the pretense of being upscale is insulting. One minute you in a supposed fancy section, next you in a bare warehouse. Upon walking in. You're not really greeted because there's not an employee at the door area. There is sanitizer wipes available to wipe the carts down. But not a dedicated person wiping the carts down like some stores are doing which is sorta a downfall really due to how massive the store is and the manager is just trying to save money on payroll. Upon entering the store. You can feel the fresh air and good ventilation going on. Also the lighting is perfect. Not too dark. Not too bright. The prices are somewhat on the high side but the meats always seem to have deals on them. Their sushi which usually tastes amazing and made fresh I noticed now has increased pricing however. A thing of sushi is almost $10 and the big one that used to be $19.99 is now 25 bucks. Sushi doesn't cost that much to make with the "Imitation crab" & "Pollock fish". The store is fully stocked and looks like everything was in the right places. Nothing really out of place. Also the store is clean and spotless. The employees were very friendly and professional. Barely seen anyone on their phones. Also during the check-out process. The cashier moved quickly. The general crowd here is middle class really. Mainly adults with some teenagers. But mainly adults. Going to Wegmans is like going to the best neighborhood deli, bakery, veggie stand, cheese stand, and grocery all in one!! I love this venue! This is the first time bringing the hubby in for a tour! We made a round trip and doubled back to gather some of our favorite treasures. Pepperoni, chorizo, espresso cheese, Guinness cheese, 3 types of keto friendly bread loaves, Diet Coke, Vanilla Coke zero, and some cool ink pens on sale. It was awesomeness! I love grocery shopping in my older age, bc I've learned that cooking has become one of my fav hobbies. What I will say is, I typically try to stay away from Wegmans bc I am always able to find better deals at some of the grocery chains, but man oh man, whenever I'm there I am in heaven. Everything, from the ambiance, to the customer service is always top notch. As I begin to make my transition to a dairy less, Pescatarian life, I've noticed that shopping at Wegmans simply makes the process so much easier and may just become my go to after all. read more

While driving up to my parents house, my husband and I made a pit stop for a warm hearty Thanksgiving lunch. While the hot bar had the traditional staples of turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, mac and cheese, whipped mashed potato - I wish there was more variety. Where's the creamy spinach, marshmallow sweet potato, corn, roasted veggies, apple and pumpkin pie? Green beans and carrots were in a different hot bar station. As the old mac and cheese was getting crusty, I'm so glad that I snagged a fresh batch as a new tray just came out. It was pipping hot and creamy, just divine and the highlight of my meal! The green bean casserole was rich and creamy, and I enjoyed the green beans and fried onions. I like the cauliflower puree, it reminded me of hummus. The carrots and veggie lomein were good. The turkey was dry and disappointing. My husband felt like the "B" team prepared the food that day. I understand most workers, probably the A team had Thanksgiving off, so the food wasn't quite up to par. I bought the apple crostada pie, which was a crowd-pleaser with my family. The Thanksgiving hot bar at Wegmans isn't bad, but doesn't offer the feast that I was hoping for and can't be substituted for mom's home-cooked meal. This review is solely for the breaded chicken tender sandwich. The rest of my food and the overall experience was in line with prior experiences here and at a high-end grocery in general. Got a medium breaded chicken tender Parm sandwich on everything bread. Pepper jack cheese, hot peppers, sweet peppers. Not toasted. The lady who made it was real good and the toppings and bread I got were great, but whatever process is used to source the chicken, needs a review. The tenders were placed in some sort of microwave and either that process or however they were created left half of my chicken tenders too hard to eat. It's a shame because of the rest of the sub was probably worth the $7. Wawa does chicken tender sandwiches better for about the same size/price, so I'll stick to them for these going forward. Publix also does them better, but there isn't one of those around here. I will most likely give Wegman's another shot for another style sub though. read more

Wegmans - Inedible chicken tenders in the second half of my medium chicken tender parm sub. - Drugstores Near Me - Columbia, Maryland

First off, let me say that Wegmans is a GREAT grocery store. I really enjoy coming here. That being said, even though it is even closer than my regular grocery store it will probably never be my regular grocery store. Now there a lot of checks in the plus column (selection, organic section, FOOD BAR, Cheese variety, buffalo cauliflower from Burger Bar) but the prices of regular items are just enough higher to make it worthwhile to get most things somewhere else. I will continue to come here for specialty items. I have to admit, I love having a dozen blue cheese choices. And between going with my wife and coworkers I end up eating lunch a various Wegmans' food bars once or twice a month. Picking up pre-made food for Thanksgiving has become a holiday tradition for my wife and I starting a few years back. No more cooking for me. (Well . . . . maybe a few family recipe sides still.) I even buy a couple extra meals so I can have leftovers. read more

I love wegmans! The fresh selection of fruits and vegetables. I love the customer service as well. Also the beauty selection of natural shampoos, and products is outstanding. I noticed they carry a wide selection of items I've never seen before. Wegmans is a one stop shop! I love this supermarket. read more
