I consider Costco one of the best run and cost-effective places to buy food and other products, including Amazon. My home Costco is the one in Elkridge and, yes, it can be very busy because of where it's located, but they process you through the checkout lines incredibly fast, no matter how long the lines are. I've learned to park somewhat far from the door just to simplify entry and exit and, if it looks really busy, to take my cart with me from the parking lot. But I buy a lot of organic fruit, fruits and vegetables, and they have them in abundance and way more cost-effective than a standard grocery store. The clothing selection is quite nice and I buy a lot of clothes from there. I see this Costco getting bashed in these other reviews, but it isn't their fault that folks tend to trash the areas just from the pure volume of people coming through. I've never seen them be out of sale items, though sometimes a particular item like broccoli just might not be in that day. I'm retired, so I have the good fortune of being able to go in midday and midweek when it is less crowded. The lines at the gas station can get pretty long, but they process through pretty quickly. Overall, I've had excellent experiences with Costco and the only reason I'm not giving five stars is not their fault, they can't control the crowd volume and what folks do to their product displays. read more

I like visiting different Costcos in the area. As of today, this one is my favorite location. They have the best parking layout. However let me add that i did come here at 5pm on a weekday. They have a different layout then Gaithersburg location . I went to the food court first lol. I got a chicken bake... its alright.. but that coffee freeze drink ...mannnnnn don't drink that fast!! In my fam, we are mostly seafood eaters and they have it all. They had crabs, scallops, huge frozen shrimp and fresh fish. A little pricey but definitely good quality. It's not congested and customers here actually have social awareness. People actually know how to maneuver their carts with them and not ditch it miles back. The women's clothing are comfy. I got 2 Keith Harring (famous artist from 80-90s) lounge sets. They have better selection of items here. The lines move pretty fast. Ill come here if I'm in the area read more

Honestly for how amazing Costco is - this is the worst Costco. Constantly crowded the rudest people work here. I've been yelled at by so many of the door greeters it's almost comical for things I do at every other Costco. For example going to the rest room before a shopping trip. They told me I couldn't go it. And when the return line was long they wouldn't let me in the store with the items. Some stores use a sticker system. Anyway for a company I adore the people at this location are horrible - especially the ones who work the check in and check out. read more

Definitely one of the bigger and better Costcos in Maryland. This location has a gas station. The parking is so so and can get crazy on the weekends. Their selection of goods is excellent, definitely a level 3 Asian Costco, so all the Asian goodies on top of the usual Costco things. The food court is decent size and serves relatively quickly. The staff here are always pleasant and friendly. Bathrooms are newer and clean. Overall an above average Costco for sure. read more

Again and again, I get shocked how miserable this Costco has become. Their cold rooms are a terrible mess. Fresh veggies and fruits sections are filled with rotten and moldy stuff. Employees block the paths and talk and socialize without even thinking that they cause inconvenience to customers. Recently, a rude cashier wearing a hijab complemented the picture. If you buy apples, one of two if them will be rotten. Almost always. It has been like this for months. In June they started selling bad egg whites that stink right off the shelf. This Costo needs to be reported to the state for selling bad food routinely. I have switched to Sam's Club that surprisingly provides cheaper foods of much better quality. Bye-bye Costco. I had a horrible experience today with one of their baggers. He was such in a foul mood today that he actually hit me with the cart. I complained to the manager already about him. It was another bad experience here in this costco. When he hit me even if it's an accident he did not say sorry. He did not apologize and i was standing there waiting for an apology and he ignored me and just went on his way. I was so mad. Absolutely the worst experience shopping there today April 28, 2026. First I was sad to discover no chicken potpies. Thats ok as maybe it is a season item. My daughter had already tried finding them at Owings Mills and not luck so I went to Elkridge. Anyway as I waited in the long line for self checkout a staff member asked to scan my Costco card. I showed my card and she scanned it. I had no idea why since the register required it. Well I checked out and decided to purchased a hotdog and drink. The machine was malfunctioning and provided no receipt after I paid. I went to customer service and a man wanted me to use my credit card to try again. Now why would I purchase twice. Then he sent me to another staff member that suggested the same thing and both suggested a different machine. Again I had already paid so just get me a hotdog. Then I leave without my food only to get home to discover that when I was asked to show my card the lady scanned my two chickens. I had also scanned them so I had paid for four chickens even though I had only purchased and left the store with two. You would have thought the guy that marks your receipt at the door would have seen only two of the four the receipt said. It wasn't until I got hope that I realized the lady had scanned my chickens and so had I. This meant for a trip back to the store to get refunded for two chickens. I will say two women staff members were helpful to correct this but the three men were useless employees who allowed a customer to leave angry never wanting to return. And I would not have returned if I hadn't needed to get refunded for the double charge. One would think they would explain that they scanned my items and I only needed to scan my card to complete my purchase. However when she scanned these chickens I was three feet from the register when the line started half way to the rear of the store. Seems some staff training is desperately needed at this store. This is why I prefer BJ's just a few miles away. read more

I like this location. Didn't even know it existed until recently. I usually go to the Beltsville location, and although it's closer, I don't mind the extra drive to come here. It could just be me, but I feel like this one is bigger compared to the Beltsville location. That one is always packed no matter the time of day. It makes it really hard to shop in there. This location didn't feel as congested, and I appreciated that. The staff was helpful, and the lines moved so quickly. I had no reason to be in this area, but since I was I figured a Costco run was a thing I needed to do. I really didn't need anything, and I feel like me having a membership is more of like a security blanket at this point. Getting here is a bit of a nightmare. Which doesn't really vary much from other Costco locations. It's just a headache and slow moving. Then you have to fight through the line of vehicles wanting gas and attempt to find a parking space. Once inside it is like a slow moving river to enter and be pushed further and further into the store. I don't know about anyone else, but I like to start out slow and look over the items. But as I go further into the store I want to make it through here as if I am running a marathon. Like my anxiety shot through the roof and I need to get out of here. I always seem to find myself with such random things in my cart at this point and don't care with the rhyme or reason for it. I just want out. We ordered a dishwasher through Costco - and At Your Service Repair was the third-party installer that Costco selected. At Your Service Repair was responsive and on time, but the overall experience was disappointing. They cut into our cabinetry without asking for permission, left debris behind for my wife to clean up, and may have caused water damage to our home. While the dishwasher had no leaks, we didn't have any issues before installation, but now have water damage on the ceiling under where the dishwasher was installed. The liability claim was denied by Costco and At Your Service Repair (which I didn't know until I called in to customer service and still haven't been given a reason why it was denied), leaving us frustrated and stuck with the bill. read more

We absolutely love Costco. You can't beat the prices and the selection is always great. Even the clothes are awesome. Seriously, people sleep on Kirkland brand clothing. If you have small kids you should be careful in the store though as people tend to look around while walking and not pay attention to where they're going. And they often don't follow the flow of traffic. Little ones are very much at risk of getting hit with those big double wide carts. read more

The one advantage BJ's Warehouse has over Costco is selling smaller sizes items. I prefer buying six small jars of olives instead of one giant container. The sample people are back. read more

I just had the worst experience at Costco membership desk. My son wanted to give me a membership as a gift because he said Costco's is better than BJs. We had no problem getting the Executive membership for $130 a year, but when it came time to take the photo for the card, the machine was broken. So, the membership clerk, 'R', gave me a temporary pass to get in and I would come back to membership before I left to get the card. Not a problem, until I went back, got my picture taken and asked for my driver's license back. 'R' insisted that she returned it to me, but I knew she didn't. She frantically starts looking for my license and said she didn't see it anywhere at the desk. OK. So she takes me over to Lost and Found and they checked and said it wasn't there either. By this time, a supervisor came over and asked me to thoroughly check my wallet and purse. I pulled out everything! NO LICENSE! I was getting upset and decided to ask if they could look at the cameras and surprisingly they said YES. So, we wait about 10 minutes for them to look at the footage and the supervisor comes back and says that I was on camera getting my license back! I asked to see the camera footage and was told ABSOLUTELY NOT! So, I told them that I was not leaving the store until I saw the footage or they called the police to have me removed. At this point, they decided to get the on-duty store manager involved. While they were gone to get him another employee walks out of the breakroom and over to the Lost and Found and says, "I found this driver's license in the breakroom just laying on the floor." WTF!? It was MY driver's license! How did it get from the membership desk all the way back into the EMPLOYEE breakroom? As this was happening, 'R' walks by and I ask her how did my license end up in the breakroom? She starts apologizing and said maybe she put it in her pocket for protection. WHAT!? I was speechless and I had to get away from her. Now here comes the manager with a clip of the interaction and before I could say anything, he says, "I have to footage that you received you license." I showed him my license and told him that another employee found it in the breakroom. He is still trying to tell me that I had already gotten it back, but when I pointed out to him which employee found it, he asked him and the employee said, "Yeah, I found it in there on the floor." He said it loud enough that everyone heard him. The manager looks at me and starts to say he has no idea how it got back there, and points at the video again and admits that you really can't see me getting my license back and that he was sorry. I told him 'R' said she may have put it in her pocket for 'protection', and he just looks at me, then says, "She should not have done that and if it was truly a lost item it should have been taken to Lost and Found." I got his name, the GM's name, the name of the guy who found it and 'R's name. I demanded that I get my membership fee back and he had NO PROBLEM giving me a gift card for $130. I will be calling on Monday to speak with the GM about the rudeness of a couple of the supervisors and the entire ordeal. My son was right though...Costco is BETTER then BJs for selection and overall pricing. read more

I like this location the most in comparison to the other locations that I have been to in the area. Some issues with a lot of the other locations is it is so hard to find a parking spot because it is so busy. Here that is not a problem! Another issue is how long the lines can be to check out, but at this location if you come on the week days it is not super busy which is nice. You can check out pretty quickly. Only reason that is it not 5 stars is because they do not have any alcohol. This is because they are in Maryland so it is nothing that they could change but when I envision a 5 star Costco experience this is part of that package. It really boosts the Costco experience. The other reason is for instance they keep the baby stuff all in different places, diapers on one end of the store, formula on the other end, and things like car seats are in another area next to the vacuums. The majority of other Costcos keep the formula and the diapers together. read more

Food court at Costco Elkridge, MD is horrible. Today(04/01/24) I ordered 4 Turkey sandwiches and after 25 minutes wait, they informed me that the patties are frozen and I can take those frozen patties and make my own sandwiches home or I can get the refund which took another 10 minutes. So I returned home with the refund after 30+ minutes waiting at you beautiful food court. I understand food can ran out, but what I don't understand how it took 25 minutes for them to figure out that they don't have the main ingredients of the sandwich. Costco, I know its hard to believe but food service and customer service can go hand in hand. Please send your food employees to the Chick-Fil-A to observe how that is possible. Maybe eventually they'll learn something. Your food court customer service is below than any Third world country. Trust me, I know cause I was born in one! We have been coming to this store location on Sundays at 5 pm. It is not crowded. There are directions by employees at the front on how to get into the store, which is from the left side. You pick up a sanitized cart inside the store after you show your membership card. Most items are in stock, but we haven't seen any toilet paper, which may have sold out earlier in the day. There was plenty of paper towels set up for sale near closing at 6 pm. Lines to pay are now directed by an employee, and this helps make the wait time shorter than in the past (pre-Coronavirus). You still show your receipt when exiting the store, but it won't be marked any more. Overall, a pleasant shopping experience with fewer people now. Gas is also cheaper now at $1.54 regular and $1.84 premium. Never seen such low prices in a long, long time! read more

The service is great, the employees work incredibly hard, it's clean, super well organized, well stocked, and very spacious. Returns are easily processed, but rarely do I have to make any. This place has everything you need and a lot more things that you don't need and you ended up buying them because of the good deals! The fruits and vegetables aisles are always fresh, the meat always stocked up, and they never run out of paper towel. They also always advance for every seasonal decors, we're enjoying their Christmas display this week. My partner was looking into upgrading his phone and computer and it turns out that Costco had amazing deals going on and this was in addition to their competitive pricing. Customer service was amazing! As we walked into the Verizon station, we were greeted by their rep with a positive vibe. Sometimes reps can be pushy as they are working towards meeting their sales goals but we had a pleasant experience with our sales rep. She explained all the features of new phones, all the amazing deals and the insurance options. Also, gave us time to decide if we like any of their phones. So we spent a minute browsing the internet to compare the phones and pricing. After couple of minutes, the Costco offer was the best one out there. They had a great deal on all in one computer as well. So in total we got $400 back on our purchase that day. They were already in amazing deals and to get additional discounts was icing on the cake for us. Definitely checkout deals in Costco if your planning to trade-in your old phone for a new one. read more

If you're thinking about getting a Costco membership, don't. I've been to this location several times now and each time I further regret my husband's decision to go with Costco instead of Sam's Club. They ask to see your membership card every five feet. So this time when I went in, I put it in a badge holder because I'm a smart ass (I thought I was funny). Anyways I don't understand why they need to see your card multiple times throughout the store. This location is super crowded all the time. The line is always backed up making it hard to maneuver through aisles. The self-checkout lane isn't actually self-checkout. Someone is there to scan your items and check your membership card for the 100th time. If you want to be treated like a criminal, this is the place to go. read more

Here are the items I found significantly cheaper than at grocery stores: **Crumbled Feta cheese: 32 oz for $7.49 **Sabra hummus: Big tub for $6 **Butter croissants: 12 for $6 **Fage Greek yogurt: 48 oz for $6 Spent $200! I would avoid this costco during the weekend like a plague. So overly crowded -- I lived in the area and when after a few years I went back and the number of patrons just "increased exponentially". Good for Costco, bad for customers because there's no process to streamline the line to pay. Still trying out if weekday after work is better, but the weekend is certainly a no no, just this weekend, the line reached as far as the back end of the store :( read more

Customer service today was awful - Linda at checkout was just downright mean and rude for no reason. Our line was taking 5x as long as the line next to us. This is the best COSTCO I have been to so far in the 23 years of having a membership. And I have been to several different C stores in different states and here in Md. as well. The food court and bathrooms are well placed and clean and the entrance is a good example of what traffic flowing well should be. I often find clothing in all sections including kids items not seen at other C stores and that is great to have that variety. They also seem to have a better selection of prepared foods and sweets. Definitely have a terrific selection of gorgeous and very fresh roses. The only reason for the four stars is that their fruit *cold storage* selection has declined over the last 6 years and the quality is not there. Also, they no longer sell organic romaine lettuce which I find odd. Customer service is fine and the check out experience has been fast. read more

Costco is a great warehouse store with competitive prices that are hard to match. The store has everything you can think of: electronics, appliances, furniture, apparel (men, women, and children), a food court, a bakery, a pharmacy, centers (tire, optical, and photo), and a gas station across the street. Compared to other retailers their return policy is lenient and generous. They value customer satisfaction. I believe on regular items it can be returned at any time even if if a product has been opened. Electronics can be returned within 90 days. The best attraction for me is their free food samples. A nice way to sample new products. Although the checkout lines always appear to be long they move pretty fast. The only three things that may test your patience are the optical center (assuming they are busy), the return line, and finding a parking space. read more
