Wow. Fantastic experience here. I heard neighborhood grumblings about the "Sub Shop" not being open, but decided to roll the dice on the "pre-made" sandwich station and boy are they tasty! The main thing is they keep most the wet stuff out of the sando, ie lettuce and tomatoes, so the sandwich artist applies the condiments and then does your moist add-ons, so you literally cannot tell from the flavor if its made-to-order. Plus, they're refilling it so often, its so fresh anyway. That's my personal opinion, and I've probably had over 1000 sandwiches in my life, both pre-made and "fresh" and am thus a self-certified expert. Oh, another thing is, the bread is crazy good. Don't be fooled because its so big, so it looks like it would be tough and domineering like a stale NY bagel, but its actually fresh and gives you a nice cushion with ideal "gnaw" factor and sweetness which pairs well with the texture and savoriness of the deli meats. In fact, as I write this, I'd actually prefer how they do it now without the subshop, if it means it will be faster because I can just imagine the line getting crazy if everyone's doing a custom order when its supposed to open next month. Anyway, who cares?, its splitting hairs, the Brklyn Wegman's is great. Its like complaining about your 2 pts, when you already got 98 on the test. Dont' be that person. My first review of the new Wegmans was harsh but what I sincerely felt at first. But as time has gone on in the last year since it opened I've found myself shopping there. At first to just grab a soup enroute to a walk thru DUMBO, then buying some steaks and seafood, which I found to be of very high quality. Then I tried their prepared foods and cheese trays over the holiday season, and they turned out to be great tasting and huge time savers. So although I stand by some previous criticisms, I felt it only right to upgrade my review for its consistent good quality. P.S. my one real pet peeve, plz at least paint those metal shelves by dry foods section a matte black or something rustic. read more

Suburban style supermarket makes its debut in Brooklyn in an out of the way location and it's a mob scene with all of Brooklyn there on opening day. It's as big as the suburban counterparts and a great store overall with deals putting it somewhere between Trader Joe's and Whole Foods in value. Lots of samples and great ready made breads with French butter and prepared foods. The wine bar upstairs is all Brooklyn local, but with wine they could have expanded. Six stalls in the women's restroom/ really? I would wait or come during the week if massive crowds aren't your thing btw. read more

Went to Wegmans on opening day at around 8:30AM and it was packed. We came early for parking just in case. It was our first time going to Wegmans and we loved it! Since it was very crowded we decided not to bring in a baby stroller and that saved us a lot of time. Many families inside did the same. Overall decently priced goods in a fairly large store. They sell fresh produce, meats, cheeses, pastries, baked goods, assorted goods (snacks, dried goods, etc), and more! Highlights: - Small indoor "Buzz" cafe area for Coffee - Indoor area for Pizza, personal pies - Burger Bar - Hot food Aisle (packaged alternatives are right nearby) - Bar upstairs - Fresh Lobsters and seafood - Deli and Meat counter - Cookie area Must Get: - Wegmans blueberries are huge, sweet, and juicy! - Fresh orange juices (bottled in various sizes) - Chocolate chip cookies (2 packs available near the front entrance) - Honey crisp bread from their bakery So far all of the items we purchased from the Wegmans brand were good. I have been awaiting the day that Wegmans Brooklyn opens for what feels like the longest time. As soon as I heard about the future opening, I was almost brought to tears by the thought of having a little piece of home come and make a permanent stay in my new home of the last five years, in Brooklyn. The location of this true supermarket may not be agreeable to those outside of Brooklyn or even those who seek merely convenience, when it comes to obtaining groceries. Wegmans is for those truly dedicated to the family-owned chain and those who seek out the best of the best, no matter the inconvenience. We're all used to oversized bodegas-calling themselves supermarkets-and the grandeur of the many Whole Foods scattered around the city, but Wegmans is something truly unique and in it's own category, especially for New York City. Sure, Whole Foods has the occasional free cheese samples out on small cocktail tables and the slightly less common brand ambassador, set-up in-house, giving out samples to try and persuade you to buy some new chickpea chip, but Wegmans has a fully-toqued comedian-esque grandpa chef searing local scallops in French butter, and offering free samples of them, to convince you to treat yourself to a fancy AF dinner for making the the trip all the way out to the Brooklyn Navy Yard to get the best groceries ever. Wegmans has an enormous selection of fresh, local produce, a very expansive and high quality selection of some of the most beautiful supermarket cuts of meat you've ever seen, an equally impressive seafood selection, and all the standard staple groceries and beverages you ever really need. Bottom line, if you haven't ever visited a Wegmans, now is your chance. I know you won't regret it. This place is far from me, but worth the trip. It's an "experience". The store is bright & clean and there are plenty of people on the floor who are willing to help customers locate items. The selection of products is very good. Some of my highlights are the cheese bar, the fast food restaurants and the "singles" in the meat section. Prices one some items are very good and prices on other items are a bit expensive so check the labels before you throw the items in your cart. My favorite thing about Wegman's is the FULL BAR upstairs. There are places to sit and eat the food you purchased downstairs and lots of places to sit and have a drink. There are also TV's for watching the game. The bar definitely elevated my shopping experience. read more

I decided to come in the evening opening day to avoid the crowds..I shopped from 830 pm to about 930. I was super impressed by all of the options. I love that there were dragon fruit including pink flesh ones. I was impressed with the rasta pasta at the hot foods area. Rasta pasta was created in Brooklyn. I also liked the large kosher, gluten free and vegetarian sections. I can see someone really fake creating a home cooked meal with wegeman's already prepped dinners. There is a large selection of seasoned meats chicken ribs and fish some selections even included vegetables. I needed dental floss and was happy to be able to purchase that there . I was super impressed with the seafood section as well. Everything looked fresh. I did not go upstairs to visit the bar but I will on my next visit. One can also get made to order pizza and burgers. Oh how could I forget?! There was a huge curly hair section. I also purchased some charcoal soap. I am so happy this store is here . The prices were pretty competitive. Although NYC's Wegmans location is by far the chain's smallest, it is probably the most highly anticipated one. I briefly drove by opening day, saw the crowds, and promptly decided to return on a weekday. Even on the Monday afternoon I returned, the parking lot was pretty full. There's a lot I can chatter on about-- from the expansive produce section (a whole wall dedicated to fresh mushrooms!) to the plethora of prepared foods available to the bar upstairs, but I'll focus on my favorite part of any Wegmans-- the cheese section. Despite the smaller size of the cheese section in the Brooklyn location, Wegmans does a great job with stocking a healthy variety of cheeses, many of which are actually aged in cheese caves specifically built to mimic those in Europe. They have a special location-specific cheese called the Brooklyn 101, an alpine variety that has been washed in beer from the Brooklyn Brewery I'd recommend. read more

I live about a 10 minute walk away from this Wegmans location so this is my go to grocery store on a daily/weekly basis. Prior to moving to NYC I have never been to a Wegmans for my groceries as I assumed it did not fit my regular diet. I try to eat organic foods, freshly procured veggies and fruits, and the occasional bakery items. Upon my first trip to this Wegmans doors, I was extremely content with the amount of healthy food options and extras. The store itself is very clean and well maintained, there are plenty of carts and hand sanitizer/wipes upon entrance. There is a café and a restaurant dining option where you can get served salads, pizzas, sandwiches, burgers, drinks, etc. The meat and seafood section are enormous as well. I won't get too into the grocery portion of the store as it is similar to 99% of other grocery markets. However, I will note that there are options here for everyone. The extra kicker of Wegmans is the household items they have in stock. They have cleaning supplies, candles, bug spray, garbage bags, everything you could realistically need for your house you can get here! There have been times where I needed assistance with finding an item, and the staff there have always been very helpful and courteous! read more

Imagine the taste and quality of a mcdonalds dollar menu cheeseburger --- EXCEPT you just got charged $8 for it. I wouldn't be so outraged if i had paid the justified price for this burger (which would be $1 +tax). Were they using some sort of high end dry aged beef in the patty to justify such a cost? I don't think so. It is beyond me how they didn't even bother putting vegetables on it - granted that wasn't listed on the menu but i didnt realize i have to start looking for vegetables in my burger's list of ingredients. Additionally it seemed like they were just reheating frozen everything to "compile" our meal. If you want a cheap unhealthy meal you're better off buying hot pockets at the grocery section and microwaving them. It's a supermarket with extras. Somewhere between Whole Food and Trader's Joe. High prices like Whole Food for a lot of their products, $9.99 a pound for the hot food bar and nothing is beyond ordinary compared to any other hot food bars. They try to be quirky like Trader's Joe but misses the mark. They do have some sales on their in house brand named groceries; mac and cheese boxes where on sale - 2 for a $1. Plenty of fancy items makes me wonder what will happen to the wagu beef which is at least $23 a pound, that doesn't sell before the sell by date, will it end up in the hot food bar? Lots of organic and natural products if that's your thing. Fresh baked cookies were delicious. The best bang for your buck is their packaged meals, one protein and 2 sides for $10. I would come back just for these. Get one already packaged or make your own at the counter. Seating upstairs to eat your lunch. Also upstairs a bar that sells alcohol. read more

Overall Wegmans is my favorite grocery store chain of all time. I love the prepared meals, and their labels are outstanding, e.g. meatballs, salads, spaghetti sauces, etc. I also love their salads, and hot bars. Their deli is outstanding, especially the beef bologna--thinly sliced. Their orange juice is also a favorite of mine. As you can see this review is for delivery service as I have not been to the Brooklyn Navy Yard so I cannot speak about the service and ambience. So Wegmans has caused a stir on its arrival to Brooklyn. Honestly, it's just a super big supermarket, similar to your Key Foods or C-Towns or Stop & Shops. But what sets it apart is the ready-to-make food. They gave an entire section of pre-made meals, the meat already seasoned, etc. Its cool and great for busy people. Another thing is that they basically have a buffet, bar, and food stations. Food stations include: salad, pizza, burgers, and ready sandwiches. I had the buffet food which was good and my mom enjoyed the pizza. There's outdoor and upstairs seating, which is cool. It gives you a break from shopping, lol. Now on to groceries. They have basically everything other supermarkets do, plus their store brand. I loved the bakery. They had many options that tasted FRESH. The supermarket was clean and staff were nice. Hopefully this can be kept up. The only issue is... PRICINGGG!! I feel like they're pretty expensive. Some items are understandable like steak or crab legs, but other items like a small about 4-5oz fruit cup for $6, a bit much. With all the hoopla, I was expecting more Walmart like prices or some wholesale items like BJs. But it's cool nonetheless. read more

I love this place! It is on the pricier side as far as supermarkets go but I am hooked! I have been coming here for lunch almost every day because their prepared foods and hot foods are just delicious. The wings are my favorite but I also regularly get the el jefe salad, the pizza egg rolls, and the sandwiches. It seems like you have to sit outside to eat though and that gets cold. The staff was incredibly helpful as it is expected at any Wegmans, the food was fresh and delicious; shout-out to the kitchen staff for keeping everything replenished and tasting great even with the busy crowds! Being from Buffalo, NY I grew up on Wegmans, so my review is a comparison... I'm super excited we have one here in Brooklyn now and I'm also looking forward to seeing the new one they're putting in Manhattan; hopefully it's bigger.. So, it is definitely a Wegmans light imo, it has a traditional Wegmans feel, but the size doesn't let you get the full experience like back home lol. I still enjoy shopping here and the prices are pretty reasonable, there are some items I don't see like the ones back home but nevertheless I still think it's a great store. Also, with the usual lack of quality in customer service in this city, I'm very relieved they were able to hand pick some folks who are 'normal' and pleasant lol. Oh, the instacart people can be a bit annoying, as they crowd the aisles and are always all over you trying to grab things quickly, many not even saying excuse me as they bombard your personal space, or leave their carts in the way. **This isn't a Wegmans issue. Ever since the Wegmans in Manhattan opened, it's as if the Brooklyn wegmans was de prioritized. While there is still a decent selection of non-perishable goods, the produce section is almost always nearly empty! We usually have to go to two or more stores to get everything we need. Wish it were better. read more

Wegmans is a decent supermarket, but I can't believe such a big deal was made over this place. Basically Wegmans is a Whole Foods without the panache. Now, its nice to hear that Wegmans treats its employees much better than Whole Foods. However, its not worth it schlepping to this store if you're not in the area. There's just nothing special at Wegmans, except for the toy train that travels over your head. And they have really good Oatmeal & Cranberry cookies. The one thing that really disappointed me were the prices. Again, they were comparable to Whole Foods. But the neighborhood that surrounds Wegmans is not that well off to afford it. I guess they were trying to attract the gentrifiers but they have plenty of options. The low and middle income residents of Ft Greene Projects don't and I thought this place would cater to the neighborhood. It doesn't. And it gets a big fat deduction because of it. read more

I just wanted to say how much of a blessing Wegmans is. Without them I'm sure many people in this area would be subjected to markups, empty shelves and extreme wait times. It's even better that you can get those hard to find items. Prior to Wegmans my go to was Trader Joe's. Even in your dreams Trader Joe's have a line down to the next block. I've been lucky enough not to encounter lines at Wegmans aside from yesterday. The first two weeks was rough but they put limits on many items and it's been great since. Let's talk Wegmans! I used to go all the time when I was in college upstate. It was my first sushi. It was buffalo pizza done as good as any. It was slightly expensive wings, and worth it. It was huge subs that I wouldn't feel comfortable calling them heroes. It was turkey breast done better than anyone else. It was a new discovery every time we went. At first it was an upgrade, then it was an only. Fast forward nearly 2 friggin decades! It was nostalgia. It was curiosity. It was a lovely place. It was not the same buffalo pizza - it was better! If I could give negative stars I would related to the online ordering and delivery. Based on our service today I don't plan on ordering online for delivery again and I would never recommend anyone to do that either. I ordered food platters at 10:45am on a Saturday to be delivered between 4-6pm. At 5 minutes to 6:00 I sent a message to check the status of my delivery. The 'shopper' messages back "I'm 12 mins from the store" I then ask what that means and he responds that he is not at the store yet and the delivery time is now 6:59pm. Yikes! I was so excited to check out this location since the one I go to back home (Bos) is amazing! Unfortunately, this location fell short of that big time. I couldn't find fresh greens anywhere. Everything was old, wilted or not in stock. I even went on multiple occasions (pre covid), at different times of the day to see if that made a difference. Nope! Oh Wegmans... I used to love you. You fed me free pizza as a UB freshmen and continuously had amazing Private Label products that were both really good and incredibly inexpensive. You had amazing sushi. The takeout bar was great chow after long nights of studying or internship work that was cheaper than eating out anywhere else. Nice cuts of meat at affordable prices, and you can even ask the butcher for custom cuts! Organic burgers that were affordable even before prices for organic meat started to go down. You even had cheap Kosher food for my parents when they came and visited me. Including rotisserie chicken that was reasonably priced! Now in Brooklyn....you've changed. You're expensive and glitzy with too many niche and expensive brands for the layman. With prices higher than even overpriced Key Foods. I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but Wegmans was a bit of a "let down" for me. First...there is no "easy way" to get here via public transportation, so...unless you can haul groceries home from here..it's not worth a special trip. It's just not. It's clean and the people are nice but really, Whole Foods has been wowing NY'ers with premium food choices for years. Pizza and Burgers for my "dine in" food options....hmmm..again..no big deal. We tried the 2 slice combo that comes with a soda and that was $8. I prefer a food hook, like the $1.50 hot dog at Costco.... nothing like that here. Overall, it took me about 1hr+ to get here from South Brooklyn. If you have a reason to shop here...or are visiting the nabe..it's good for a quick peek....but honestly...it's just ok. read more

I live in the neighborhood and for years I have prayed for a major supermarket like this to open. Well my dreams came true. There is really so much to love about Wegman's. The aisles are huge and spacious. The prices of their house brand are very competitive. The sushi is very delicious for supermarket sushi. The burgers and pizza restaurants look delicious-but will have to try them next time. I also really liked the whole aisle devoted to gluten-free products. I really love the low prices for gourmet and organic foods. The atmosphere here is very gourmet and exciting and definitely more fun than the banality that Whole Foods has become post Amazon. I don't think I will do my food shopping anywhere else now. Also, the app is easy to use and find the coupons for the weekly specials. Only thing that needs improving is the way the clerks bag groceries. I walked there and they could have filled the bags more efficiently . After checkout I had to re-arrange the bags so I wouldn't have to carry so many. I think they still have to get used to those of us who walk to the store versus driving. I will definitely be here regularly to try all of the Wegman's brand products. Oh and I almost forgot the cute electric train above the dairy section. Such a nice fun touch. read more

Ordered 2 cheese slices for my daughter and the American Cheese burger with sweet potato fries. Pros: The sweet potato fries are a thick cut, and very flavorful. Also, the beef they use is definitely tasty and they cooked it to the temperature that I suggested. Cons: As I stated earlier, I purchased an American cheese burger, which is about $2.00 than the burger I received, a plain hamburger. I contemplated even doing a review because I figured I'd just eat the lost since I wasn't diligent enough to check my order before I left. But then I figured I'd pass that quick piece of advice to someone else that may encounter the same issue. Oh, and once I decided to make the review, I asked my daughter how her pizza was. She's only eaten on of the slices, and she's typically a big pizza fan and will eat at lest 2 slices on Pizza Fridays. She told me that the pizza was "okay. But the top tastes like noodles." To say that I love grocery shopping is an understatement. I have heard of Wegmans before but being a city kid, I had yet to experience all that Wegmans has to offer. Needless to say I was quite underwhelmed. I always heard about the cheap prices and unique finds so I was expecting to be overwhelmed with things that I couldn't say no to. I scoured the store and found neither cheap prices or unique finds. The prices were on par with the Atlantic Terminal Stop & Shop and there was far less selection. No snuggle fabric softener, what the hell! That's not acceptable. Trader Joe's beats Wegmans hands down on price and uniqueness of products. Quality of meat and produce were no better than the other grocery stores I go to. After finishing what was supposed to be my weekly shop at Wegmans, I still needed to pick up a few last items at Trader Joe's because of lower price (dried cranberries were a few dollars cheaper, not just a few cents) or lack of product at Wegmans. I really wanted to love Wegmans, but I'd give it zero stars if I could. I definitely do not plan on going to Wegmans again. TJ's, Stop & Shop, Brooklyn Fare, and Whole Foods for me! I'm not sure what the hype is all about but to me it's just a large supermarket that feels like a Costco but looks like a Whole Foods. Prices aren't much cheaper than Trader Joe's which I find much better especially the prices. The fruits here are slightly more expensive than Trader Joe's and to travel here is not that easy.
