To say that I love grocery shopping is an understatement. I have heard of Wegmans before but being a city kid, I had yet to experience all that Wegmans has to offer. Needless to say I was quite underwhelmed. I always heard about the cheap prices and unique finds so I was expecting to be overwhelmed with things that I couldn't say no to. I scoured the store and found neither cheap prices or unique finds. The prices were on par with the Atlantic Terminal Stop & Shop and there was far less selection. No snuggle fabric softener, what the hell! That's not acceptable. Trader Joe's beats Wegmans hands down on price and uniqueness of products. Quality of meat and produce were no better than the other grocery stores I go to. After finishing what was supposed to be my weekly shop at Wegmans, I still needed to pick up a few last items at Trader Joe's because of lower price (dried cranberries were a few dollars cheaper, not just a few cents) or lack of product at Wegmans. I really wanted to love Wegmans, but I'd give it zero stars if I could. I definitely do not plan on going to Wegmans again. TJ's, Stop & Shop, Brooklyn Fare, and Whole Foods for me! Ps: the prepared foods and bar were also disappointing. read more

I'm not sure what the hype is all about but to me it's just a large supermarket that feels like a Costco but looks like a Whole Foods. Prices aren't much cheaper than Trader Joe's which I find much better especially the prices. The fruits here are slightly more expensive than Trader Joe's and to travel here is not that easy. I must say from the outside it looks nice but not worth the travel in my opinion. read more

I use to live in Upstate NY and that's where I discovered the magical place that is Wegman's. In fact, I was so accustomed to buying Wegman's brand products, that when I moved to NYC, I walked into a grocery store and had no clue what brand of bread to buy! We've waited a long time for Wegman's to finally open. The staffers are just as happy as I recall (though opening day was SO overwhelming for them, I'm sure). I found basting oil, butter boy (aka butter heaven), salt potatoes and spent far too much time in the meat section. I was very impressed, because despite there being a crowd opening day, it (still) only took 10 mins to self-checkout. Since this is a 8 minute walk from my home, I will be coming back for all my grocery needs....and plan on submitting requests to add some of my other favorite products! read more

I finally got to visit this store and was so happy to see people getting healthy, fresh food here. One of the things I noticed when I first moved to Brooklyn years ago was the disparity between the grocery stores in neighborhoods of privilege and those that housed lower SES. I remember shopping in chain grocery stores and finding spoiled meat, a overabundance of high sugar prepared foods and almost no edible vegetables. Thanks to the Food Justice people during the Bloomberg era, we finally started to see fresh food carts under the el, and little vegetable gardens and farmer's markets in our community. Now at least over in this part of Brooklyn, there will be a place for people to shop at a large chain store that respects its customers and has decent prices. I hope they extend into other neighborhoods, even if they try a smaller store. I appreciated the old ruins of the Navy Yards but it was so much more important that the people in the surrounding community have a place where they could get reasonably priced and healthy food for themselves and their children. Wegman's is also a chain that treats their employees very well, and I am so glad they finally are in NYC. It would be great if they would start a primenow style delivery service like Whole Foods does, or some sort of MTA modification so that people can get here without a car. read more

I think I love this place more than Wholefoods but the only thing is that I can't shop here regularly. The prices are moderately elevated for basic products. However, they have a great selection including prepared foods and sushi. We ordered sushi rolls and they were delicious. read more

I heard all the hype in advance and had previously experienced wegmans outside of NYC. I concur, wegmans certainly has a place here in Brooklyn. When you need to go large grocery shopping and want a good selection of options, it may be worth the trip to the navy yard. The food quality seems high and options for organic or specialty items are pretty broad. They also feature an extensive cheese, craft beer and baked goods sections. Strangely, while I like its size and variety for bulk products, it actually probably lends itself more so to solo living. Many of the pre-prepared food options (prepped and seasoned meals with instructions to bake for a set amount time) are single pieces of meat or fish. Not quite conducive to family eating, but still a nice addition for a grocery store. They also have lots of cooked, hot food options, which is great for those that work in the area and those who are hungry while grocery shopping and although they purchased a bunch of food can't imagine cooking when they get home (that's me...all the time). Price wise, well it depends on your budget. It felt a bit pricey for their meat and seafood section, but comparable in other sections. Basically, add it to your list of grocery store options. And yes, they have lots of parking, though even at 10 pm on a Friday night, it was pretty full (May be attributed to the fanfare during their first week being open). read more

This isn't a very good grocery store. First, the things I liked: their app is good! I had coupons, it shows up on my phone easily, it integrates with Ibotta. I also liked that Apple Pay was so easy to use there. I never use that because nowhere I shop takes it, but I did like it. And the cashier was very nice. Nicer to C-Town? No, but nice. Bad things: The parking lot was hostile to bikes and pedestrians. The hot bar of prepared foods was expensive (it tasted ok). The store seems to have been laid out by someone at Ikea, but without the method to the madness. It just didn't have things you would think a big grocery store would--there were no anchovies in jars. There were no brands of canned tomatoes except the store brand. It has Wagyu beef for $200/lb, but for a shopping experience, it is worse than the Key Food near me, the C-Town, the Ozzie's Fresh Market, every Trader Joe's, every Whole Foods, the Giant Eagle in my parent's town, the Bravo near me, and especially worse than Food Bazaar, which is an amazing shopping experience that has everything. I do not think this store will be open very long. There cannot be enough deluded people from Rochester to sustain it when everywhere else is better. read more

I am so incredibly happy that my favorite supermarket has decided to open a location in my hometown. There was no way I would miss the Grand Opening today. As expected it was packed to the walls but they were efficient in their processing and in helping customers so I was in and out in no time. A new place for me to lose all of my money. read more

I have been in NYC for 5 years forced to drive to NJ for my Wegmans fix. Thank you Wegmans for coming to BROOKLYN. So opening day I brought my wife. It was packed but worth it. I saw her eyes get big and a smile. We went section to section and then she stopped me, take my picture with the lobsters. Omg she loved the entire store. We tried cheese samples and drooled over future meals. Finally we got a burger and fries. Excellent meal. Then had a mojito in the bar. Yes a bar and her favorite mojitos. The only thing better than the selection was the friendly staff. read more

It's a supermarket. It's a good supermarket and I love the fact that there is a parking lot. There is a huge variety of prepared foods and interesting finds . I don't think that I would need to make a special trip for anything specific but for locals to the market, it's great to have it in this new location. read more

So glad Wegmans finally opened up in Brooklyn. This fine grocery chain is just what this City needs. I bought several items from my list and prices were so much better than what I pay in Queens. It was definitely worth the trip. We're thinking of going again next week later in the day and take our time going through their wide isles. We will definitely check out the bar on the second floor too. read more

So excited to finally have a Wegmans in NYC, I use to visit the one in Hudson Valley; but this Wegmans pulled out all the big stops. This Wegmans has probably the largest selection of ready made and ready to cook items I've ever seen with a ton of organic options. The staff is super friendly and the ready made food is delicious. As for their food selection it's whole food meets Costco all in one location. So glad and happy to have a Wegmans in Brooklyn. read more

Finally! So happy to have Wegmans in Brooklyn! I've been waiting for the long anticipated opening date and I can say they really delivered. From the fresh produce to the fair prices, you really get it all by shopping here. If you're not used to a Wegmans, they pride themselves on fresh and quality ingredients and great customer service. They keep their values intact with the opening of their first urban location. Of course, the selection is condensed in some Health and Beauty areas, due to the limited space versus suburban locations. Overall, you're still getting the spread of the Wegmans assortment throughout the store. They have an instore bakery, dinners to go, and free parking with a garage. It was packed on their opening Sunday but that's to be expected. This is definitely an upgrade for any locals who are used to limited grocery stores! read more

Wait outside the door and you'll hear things like this: "this is the first and last time I'm coming here" So why the negative review? Well they got their reason and we got ours. We bought pies there and realized they bagged one vertically and then put a heavy item on top of the other pies which crushed it. When you fight for 15 and won theres no incentive to do a good job I guess read more

It's such a nice supermarket. It's clean and they have so many options of food plus pre cooked food! I wish they have more locations in NYC, including Manhattan. read more

Where is the sub shop?!? Forget the burger bar! This is what we all want! The store is great-smaller than I thought...with an odd layout Thought it would have been more grand for a Nyc roll out The bar area is tight!!! Also we need more products that Wegmans is known for in the western New York area So glad Wegmans is here but Where is our sub shop??? read more

Love it. This was my go-to grocery store in Upstate I was so excited when it opened in Brooklyn. The selection is great, and the food is fresh. I ordered a pickup for subs and they missed a few ingredients and forgot to make my subs when I got there. So I suggest going inside and ordering from there rather than online. Subs were delicious, makes me feel at home lol read more

It was the fabled supermarket I've heard about that FINALLY decided to come to BROOKLYN! I was at the grand opening and I was hooked. They have a lot of unique items and very good prices on the items I usually buy. Canned soup: 99 Cents is their regular price! Soda: 99 Cents (why pay more?) ... Excellent prices on eggs and dairy... Nice variety too. Free Parking... Lots of prepared foods. It is worth the trip from South Brooklyn! read more

Can't complain about ANYTHING!!! I grew up with wegmans and have missed it ever since I moved to the city. Right away the smell, look, and feel is exactly the same as any other wegmans. Of course every employee is super nice and they actually walk you to the product you're looking for. They pulled out every stop with this location. Ore fresh salmon than I've ever seen, any cheese you can think of, and amazing bread selection. Everything is fresh, properly labeled, and AMAZING prices. Confirmed a sub shop is in the works since that is such a staple in every other location. The grocery cart I bought just to shop here is going to pay for itself! read more

Finally there is a decent market in this area, for years the area has had terrible markets with inflated prices and sometimes expired items, some even rat and roach infested. Wegmans is a blessing to the downtown Brooklyn area, most notably the Dumbo area. Wegmans is probably one of the largest food markets in all of NYC and their prices on some items are competitive for the most part. The selection at Wegmans is stellar. While Wegmans is more of a traditional food market and doesn't stray away from artificial ingredients, preservatives, and so on, the market is still everything we could hope for. They have a decent selection of Organic foods which is great and they have a great selection of fresh meats such as chicken, beef, pork, and every type of sea food you can think of. Surprisingly you can even get live lobster here. Wegmans also offers a Burger Bar that has vegetarian options. They carry the impossible burger at the burger bar, as well as impossible meat in the meat section so you can make your own impossible meals. First market I know of to carry impossible meats. Also, their fries are amazing. They are perfectly crispy and savory and come in 3 different options, one of which include sweet potato fries. They have a pizza bar as well with a wide array of options. I have not yet had their pizza so I will have to update this portion at a later time. Throughout the market you can find different sections that offer samples. From what I've discovered so far, they do samples for the bakery, cheese, and seafood section. There may be more however. This market also has a self checkout so if you only have a few items and wish to skip a register then this is a great convenience. Outside of the market you have a decently sized parking lot, and another parking lot available if more space is needed. They will be offering free parking at that location at a later time with a purchase of $15 or more. So far I've found the best times to come are before 12pm on the weekdays. You'll avoid the crowd so that you can take your sweet time going through the aisles and enjoying the experience. read more

Since discovering the fantastic Rochester Wegmans eight years ago, I was greatly anticipating going to a Wegmans not that far from where I live in Staten Island. My husband and I trekked (ferry, subway, walk) to the Navy Yard recently to check it out. Though it's not Wegmans fault, because of construction around the York St. F stop, it was impossible to find the bus going down Flushing Avenue. So, our walk from the subway was probably the best part of our trek, since we passed through the charming and historic Vinegar Hill area of Brooklyn on the way to the store. But on to Wegmans itself. Though not as huge as the Rochester store, it was fun to walk around and get acquainted with all the food departments. We were most impressed with the variety of cheeses, produce, meat, fish and prepared foods. We were less impressed with the regular supermarket items since there seemed to be a heavy emphasis on Wegmans products and not other brands. A search for hot cereal turned up various varieties of Wegmans oatmeal and as far as I could tell, nothing else. However, I purchased a very inexpensive box of instant oatmeal and it is very good! We tried their hamburgers and fries and ate them upstairs in the comfortable seating area. The hamburgers (actually cheeseburgers, though we didn't request cheese) were very good. Yes, the burger cost more than Shake Shack burgers but tasted about the same. The fries were about the same in cost and flavor. The person behind the counter seemed a bit confused when I ordered a hamburger, fries and a drink. Perhaps more training needs to be done in the dine-in department? Otherwise, staff seemed helpful and friendly. Since it's a trek from Staten Island, we probably will make Wegmans an occasional outing. However, if Wegmans ever considers coming to the North Shore of Staten Island where there is a scarcity of good supermarkets, then count me in as a regular customer. read more

Visit and see for yourself. Mixed feedback from one visit. PLUS: reasonable prices overall, clean and spacious, well-stocked groceries, wide selection of cooked food buffet-style, competent staff and free parking MINUS: more affordable prices elsewhere, not accessible by subway, not enough space for dining in. Street level outdoor area gets crowded at lunch time. We all have our own preferences. It's worth a visit. read more

Wegman's Brooklyn delivers through Instacart. Totally worth it. Their frozen rosemary rolls (vegan, to boot) are worth filling up your freezer with, if they're not sold out. Instacart raises the prices a little to cover their costs and the offerings here are sometimes limited....so order early before the tastiest offerings go buh-bye. If you're sheltering in place, order some of their prepared meals. Totally worth it. One if the few markets...ever...to offer prepped food and frozen dishes that actually come close to homemade. Many vegan and vegetarian options abound. And if you ever have the chance to actually go here, good luck leaving. The limitless options of fresh and prepared foods make other NYC markets look like amateurs. read more

my love affair with wegmans started back in my undergrad days when i lived in upstate new york.. you would think a day spent at wegmans was just sad for a college student, but you could not be more mistaken.. wegmans is THE SHIT.. it was the bougie-est supermarket i had been up to then.. i was treating myself when i got myself the "good" cheese.. fancy yourself some delicious fruit tarts?? wanna get the good sub??? this truly was the shit.. there's a cult following for a reason m.. then came the longest winter of my life.. when i was no longer living in upstate ny.. and had to do without it for a good 10 years before i heard the great news.. wegmans coming to brooklyn navy yard... you bet your ass i came opening weekend.. do i live in brooklyn?? no.. is it completely out of the way for me?? damn straight.. will it stop me from going?? hell noo... now i get the fancy prosciutto.. all the good cheese i ever want.. and all the lovely artisanal breads my heart desires.. i have been caught by coworkers getting my fix.. but my love for you knows no bounds.. and i am unashamed.. read more

The long anticipated Brooklyn Wegmans! Now that I've dined and shopped here on a number of occasions (maybe 7 times since it opened a few weeks ago) I can earnestly say that it's just plainly awesome. You may be thinking, how can a grocery store be awesome? Well, when it's Wegmans, it can be. After spending a A LOT of time at Wegmans Binghamton location, I fell in love. A few years ago, when Wegmans announced its navy yard site, I proceeded to wait several years in great anticipation. Wegmans has shown us here that their business model works well in even an urban location. This Wegmans is certainly a bit smaller than others (at 74,000 square feet) but it has almost everything. The prices are excellent and the selection is extraordinary. Not to mention, this Wegmans location has a BAR outfitted with comfortable seats, expansive counter space, TVs, and a top shelf bar. I never thought I'd ever lucky enough to one day grab my Wegmans sub and walk right upstairs to enjoy a reasonably priced beer ($5 during happy hour). While I do wait for a full Wegmans sub bar (this location has almost everything but that), I will be making the longer trip when possible to enjoy this heavenly place. Oh yea, THEY DELIVER. Via instacart, you can order all you want and your shopper updates you along the way. Quick and easy. I think it was about 2 hours from placing my order to arrival at my apartment. read more

This place is incredible. Been a few times now but This review is limited to the foods I like though. Love the prepared foods and had some delicious wings but way happier with the ready to cook meals. Made a shrimp scampi that impressed all in the house and all I needed to do was pull off the cover and put it in the oven! Winning! This would be a great place if you're looking for a variety of foods for meal prep. A comprehensive cheese section made me dizzy and each time I was there, the cheese mongers were so willing to help me choose something new. I've only had the sweet potato fries at the burger bar but they were crisp and delicious and great with the special mustard. The regular fries were a bit disappointing though. Pizza wasn't that great either. The seafood and meats have been consistently good so I believe they're all as organic and sustainably farmed as they claim them to be. I didn't use the second floor bar but people seemed to be enjoying themselves as I walked past them to the bathroom. The bathrooms were wonderful. Seriously, stop by the bathroom. It's worth it. The grocery is a treasure trove of specialty items. Prices are higher than a kite on a windy day though so I would not use this place for regular grocery shopping. read more

My all time favorite store arrives in New York City, shocking was it being in Brooklyn. While I live in Maryland and once Virginia, Wegmans Brooklyn wasn't my first experience. What was exciting was the experience of shopping in Wegmans in my hometown. The customer service was excellent. We were excited to shop here, we'd heard such great things about this store but we ended up leaving after about 40 mins of shopping. Maybe if there had been better choices, we would have pushed through but, the shelves were barely stocked... the pet section was a joke...It was extremely crowded. People literally in our face, against our bodies, carts pushed into us, people shoving through to either cut in front of each other or just outright jostle one another away from shelves... no social distancing enforced here, I guess. The tomatoes were soft, the fruit looked old....the employees were almost as rude as the customers. The coffee section was pathetic. I will say the cheese section was very cool though... and if you like beer, they had a huge selection. I'll stay in my area of Brooklyn to grocery shop though. This was a terrible shopping trip. read more

I hate to judge this place during this time with all the limitations that coronavirus has placed on businesses. Despite needing to line up outside, the line moved fairly quickly to enter the store. I was able to find a decent selection of seafood, poultry, fruits, and vegetables which has been very difficult at other markets. Limits on dairy items allows everyone to be able to stock up though I was bummed that I could only find cheese in the more expensive specialty area. All the cash registers were open and cashiers were friendly and helpful. I will definitely venture back again, though I will always miss my Upstate NY Wegmans. read more
