It was a few minutes before 1PM and most of their baked goods were sold out which is a good sign especially on a random weekday. I am a sucker for Orange flavored pastries and baked goods so immediately went for the Orange Ricotta Cake and it was moist and lightly sweetened, although it could've had a bit more Orange and a bit bigger considering it's about $6 (before tip). The folks working were super kind so I would come back again if I happen to be in the JP area.

The cupcakes tasted amazing, too! The cake part wasn't super-moist, so it held its shape and tasted great, but the frosting was the real star. The frosting on the lemon cupcake was intensely lemony, and the chocolate frosting was rich and smooth. I and the other non-vegans at the party couldn't tell that they were vegan, and our host was delighted to know that there is a bakery nearby that caters to her needs. I'll definitely be coming back to try the regular cupcakes soon!

We had family coming from all across the country, and had rented a boat, and were planning to pick up the cupcakes and bring them on board so we could celebrate on the ship. We were traveling from out of state and were planning to arrive a bit sooner than expected, so I called the shop and asked to pick them up an hour early. I was told this was not an option, as they would not be ready. Totally fine, I understand that change was last minute. We decided to stick with our original 2:00 pickup time. 15 minutes before the scheduled pickup time, I received a call stating that they were an hour behind. I told the owner that this would be an issue, given that our boat left at 3:00. She offered to do free delivery, which we accepted. I provided the address and reiterated that we were leaving at 3:00, so we would need them before that time. She said she would call me when she arrived. 3:00 came and went, and our boat set sail, with no cupcakes. At 4:15, I received a phone call saying "I'm here with the cupcakes. I hope you guys aren't on the boat that's leaving!" We had left over an hour before... I explained that we were in the middle of the water, and reiterated that I told her numerous times we were leaving at 3, to which she said "she didn't understand that." Not quite sure how I could have been more clear about that, but I digress. She asked what we wanted to do and offered a refund, which we accepted. Disappointed is an understatement. When someone is turning 80 years old, you don't know how many birthdays they have left, and you want to make it special for them. This whole experience definitely put a damper on the day.

We returned hoping we would have the same positive experience as the day before. When we approached the register, two employees were standing together talking. We stood directly in front of the register for about five minutes, waiting to place our order. During that time, neither employee greeted us, acknowledged our presence, or said something as simple as, "We'll be right with you." The older employee remained leaned over the counter, continuing her conversation while casually writing on the countertop instead of acknowledging us or taking our order. The younger employee looked in our direction several times, and it appeared she wanted to help us, but the conversation continued. After waiting several minutes without any acknowledgment, we decided to leave. As we were walking out, a white customer entered the bakery and was enthusiastically welcomed by the older employee with a cheerful, "Hello, welcome." That contrast was upsetting and made us feel overlooked and unwelcome. While I cannot know the employees' intentions, the difference in how we were treated left us questioning whether race played a role in our experience. It was especially disappointing because we had enjoyed our visit the day before and returned expecting the same welcoming atmosphere. No customer should feel invisible when entering a business. A simple greeting or acknowledgment would have made all the difference. I hope you will take this complaint seriously, review what occurred, and remind your staff of the importance of treating every customer with the same level of courtesy, respect, and professionalism.

They have a huge variety of mix-ins for you to customize your ice cream flavor. It's a great, family-friendly business. The owners are lovely and so friendly, too. And as always, the ice cream at sweeties is smooth and creamy which is the best part. No brain freeze here, phew. Even though there were over 10-15 of us, they accommodated us very well in their space. Fun event!
