This place is the definition of no frills. Much like Richee Freeze in Roanoke, this unassuming hole in the wall served up simple hotdogs with tasty toppings, and fries were steaming hot. We came here during lunchtime on a weekday and the place filled up quickly, but food came out soon after we put in orders as sat down. Staff were friendly, especially the gentleman who to took our orders, and we didn't have a shortage of visual and olfactory simulations. I hope they do well. read more

This was always one of my favorite spots in Lynchburg when I went to college there. If you want a fast quick meal, this is the place to go. The BLT is my favorite. We also got the French toast. I would suggest trying the lunch menu but the breakfast menu is good too. The staff is following all protocols . The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Since we had a to-go order, we did not get to experience the table service but everyone so helpful. On a college budget, this is the place to try. I will be back to visit!! read more

Love it. Small local place, good food, good atmosphere, decent prices. I had the Bookoo Bacon Cheeseburger with fries. Yum, love the cheese skirt. Fries were fries, nothing special necessarily, but not bad either. Wife had the Jersey Ripper Dog (fried dog) with chili and mustard, along with onion rings. This is the place I go with my husband when he's off from work and we decide to go somewhere for breakfast, although I have eaten lunch here as well, usually in the days when my Grandscrew was my side kick and we'd go out, getting in trouble and running from the police. I remember the "garbage plate" the most. I think it's a yankee thing...like pasties or...rushing around on a Tuesday like the apocalypse is coming. The service has always been good, the prices reasonable, and the menu items simple and decent. Heartburn is a thing but if you can't do the time then don't do the crime (Grandscrew used to say that after her hot dogs with chili). read more

I'm obviously not from around these parts with my fancy pants, sissy dress shirt, and "well, aren't you special" work badge.... Or at least that's how it played out in my head. In reality, everyone was friendly - just grab a seat at the counter, or go straight to the register for takeout. The Hot Dog, All the Way, was typical Virginia-style with onions, coleslaw, and chili. The chili was good but not spicy at all. The slaw made the bun a little bit mushy. My $6 combo came with a drink (sweet tea!) and crinkle cut fries, which got soggy pretty fast, so eat fast! Very average dogs. At least it's cheap and fast service. The dogs are thin and are overwhelmed by whatever you put on them. It's like they try and make up for the average dog by hiding it beneath the toppings. I'll continue my search for the perfect dog in Lynchburg. read more

My friends and I really enjoyed our first visit to Weenie Stand No 1! Evan does a great job with the food and providing a low key, local, friendly place. Just left wanted a different hot dog than T room. Years ago loved the Weenie stand and the one on timberlake rd, however the hot dog today one bite and done. The fries were as bad as the hot dog. We stopped in for bbq and we felt like we were truly in the south. We ordered the pulled pork platter which was a bowl of pork with bbq sauce on the side, six hush puppies, slaw, and homemade macaroni and cheese for $8.99 including a drink. We are it all. Its the other T Room. If you like being different then this is the place to get late night fix. Their menu has a bit more to it (various sandwiches) and it's centrally located to everything. While this might be a problem in most cities, since you're only going to be eating here after 9:00pm then in Lynchburg you don't need to worry about it because everyone else is already asleep. Definitely go with a Chicago hot dog and some chili. Its classic. The Philly cheese steak ain't bad either although I don't recall seeing the Whiz applied. Some of you reading this know what I mean by that. Ordered a foot long with chili, mustard and onions. Hotdog wasn't' pink and the texture was the right consistency. Not mushy. Buns were fresh and steamed. Chili was perfect. Not too spicy but just the right amount of spice to make it tasty. Tasted my honeys all the way dog and the slaw was good. New owners have taken over this place and added new items but kept old time favorites and use the same chili and slaw recipes from original owner's . Didn't try the Q or macaroni and cheese but BH the ravings of other patrons both will be on my list next visit. I rated this a 5 for what I had to eat with consideration of what kind of dining it is.... local, fast food with a neighborhood atmosphere. read more

I visited this establishment twice recently during a one week visit to Lynchburg. I loved the hot dogs years ago when I lived there and still love them 40 years later. However, I question the cleanliness very much. I visited the men's room and have never seen a dirtier bathroom in any business I have been in. I understand they may not have to capital to make much needed improvements to the fixtures and flooring but it can still be cleaned. Appeared not to have been touched in a long time. Underneath the cooking area and counters were the same. Just not enough time spent on keeping the restaurant clean. read more

Prices are non comparable to other local establishments. The food lacks a lot. This is quantity over quality. The food is bland no matter what you get. It doesn't even taste good at 1-2-3 am on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Other than that it is a down home southern country atmosphere. Service is friendly and usually quick. read more

A cozy spot where a lot of regulars go to and everyone knows everyone. Came here for breakfast as a recommendation from my hubby who is originally from here. Went to this place after reading such rave reviews but $14 and change for a greasy foot long "all the way" with squishy crinkle fries and a greasy plain hamburger with squishy crinkle fries and at the last minute we were informed it didn't come with drinks when we thought we ordered the "special". Seriously?? Said it would be $16 and change if we got the specials which included a drink. Yeah, NO THANKS. Wish I could retrieve the tip of almost $2 I put in their jar before the fact of the food and misinformation. I've eaten better from a hot dog cart a hop skip and a jump from this place. A rock solid breakfast and lunch spot. Southern style home cooking and friendly people make this place a gem. Even vegetarians can find a few options available that I think hit the spot.
