Love it. Small local place, good food, good atmosphere, decent prices. I had the Bookoo Bacon Cheeseburger with fries. Yum, love the cheese skirt. Fries were fries, nothing special necessarily, but not bad either. Wife had the Jersey Ripper Dog (fried dog) with chili and mustard, along with onion rings. Also very good, rings were nice and crispy. Will definitely be back and try some more of the menu!

This place is a Lynchburg institution. They have diner style seating, a friendly staff, and a comfortable-casual environment. The menu is simple with burgers, pulled pork, and of course hotdog (implied by name of this place). Today it hit me that I needed a couple dogs to satisfy my hunger so where do I go? The one hotdog joint in Lynchburg you should go - Weenie stand No 1 4/5 Get the all-beef hot dogs, and might as well get 2.

Hot Dog, All the Way and Crinkle Cut Fries.

::cue the ominous Western bar fight music:: It's one of those places where you walked in, and everyone looked at you funny. I'm obviously not from around these parts with my fancy pants, sissy dress shirt, and "well, aren't you special" work badge.... Or at least that's how it played out in my head. In reality, everyone was friendly - just grab a seat at the counter, or go straight to the register for takeout. The Hot Dog, All the Way, was typical Virginia-style with onions, coleslaw, and chili. The chili was good but not spicy at all. The slaw made the bun a little bit mushy. My $6 combo came with a drink (sweet tea!) and crinkle cut fries, which got soggy pretty fast, so eat fast! I should have probably gotten the two dogs combo instead, and there's a variety of typical burgers, dogs, and cheap eats.

My friends and I really enjoyed our first visit to Weenie Stand No 1! Evan does a great job with the food and providing a low key, local, friendly place. All of us ordered burgers and fries that were delicious and of course we all had to split a foot long. We couldn't eat at Weenie Stand No 1 without eating a weenie!

We stopped in for bbq and we felt like we were truly in the south. We ordered the pulled pork platter which was a bowl of pork with bbq sauce on the side, six hush puppies, slaw, and homemade macaroni and cheese for $8.99 including a drink. We are it all. We also ordered s hotdog ATW which came with chili, slaw and chopped onion. We enjoyed our friendly waitress and the atmosphere as we sat at the counter.

Hot dogs all the way with Ruby and Happy Gay's original slaw recipe from 1948 is to die for. This place is amazing.

Perfect crust! So cinnamon-y sweet I ate the whole thing without syrup! Soft scrambled eggs were like heaven. Pork sausage links were so juicy. The grilled potato's so, so good, paired with the sausage it was the perfect amount of salt. I also got a side of sautéed mushrooms, you cannot go wrong with that combo if you love all of these things. The chef really cares for his craft. The vibe of the Acorn Hill Lodge And Bistro is absolutely adorable. Neon light sign in the window, Christmas lights wrapped around supports. Not too bright, not too dark. Again, perfect for early morning! They have more amenities and businesses on sight I hope to check out in the future. No photos, I ate it all too fast. Sorry, not sorry. 10/10! Get those Pancakes!

The waitress never apologized or explained. I had to ask for a box and the check because she was just looking at me without saying anything. Also the food wasn't fantastic either. The eggs weren't totally cooked, the quesadilla was soggy on one side, and I asked for an English muffin but got white bread instead. We asked for berries on the French toast and that was not added. For waiting 45 minutes the meal wasn't anything special. Im giving it a 2 star because the food wasn't disgusting and the environment was relaxing and laid back, oh and the friendly black cat when we walked in was cute.

A bit of a wait, but that was to be expected given that it was also Valentines Day. The hostess greeted us and kept us updated on an approximate wait time. Ultimately, waited for about 20 minutes. The wait time proved to be 100% worth! The menu had something to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. Our waitress was swamped covering two stations, but so attentive to our table. Coffee, OJ and waters were delivered quickly. Once our order was taken, our food was delivered piping hot within 10 minutes. Our meals were incredibly delicious and very generous in portion size. Will absolutley return next time we are in town.

All while respecting the conversation going on at the table and being mindful not to interrupt. I started with a glass of sweet tea. One sip and I knew I was in the south, for real. Perfectly sweetened, like a glass of 'Southern Champagne' should be. I started with an order of fried pickles. The portion was more than enough to share and they were everything I wanted them to be. Battered and fried, and served with a generous portion of cool and creamy ranch dressing for dipping. A southern staple, and this place did it right. For lunch I had the Reuben with a side of fries. The bread was perfectly toasted and crispy, the sandwich was stuffed with lots of tasty corned beef and sauerkraut, and the fries were piping hot. I'm glad I had a light breakfast that morning because that sandwich was so filling and so good. I noticed that they also serve breakfast all day. My coworkers both decided to get breakfast entrees for lunch, and they looked amazing. Especially those biscuits. The table beside me ordered a huge plate of pumpkin pancakes. I could smell them from the second the server brought them out from the kitchen. Needless to say, I'll definitely be back to check out their breakfast options. This is a charming and quaint little eatery in downtown Lynchburg and I definitely recommend giving it a try if you find yourself on, or near, Main Street.
