This was $9 in a hotdog container. Took 30 minutes people getting food behind me. Only got my food after complaining. They were rude.

Slow, rude, poor experience. Way over priced at $9 from a hot dog container. I suggest go elsewhere

Chicken and waffles

I guess this is what they mean by "down home country cooking." A small little portion of Lynchburg's community market is dedicated to a woman who serves up... well... down home country food. Saturdays are usually packed and breakfast/brunch was on our minds. I ordered the Chicken and waffles with hash browns and my husband ordered 3 fried eggs, potatoes, corned beef hash and a biscuit. (All for $16). The quality of the fried chicken straight out the fryer was good. It came with3 wingettes and 3 drumsticks and 3 waffles. A very hefty portion that I couldn't finish! The waffles were ok, standard batter on a square at home waffle makers. My husband enjoyed his meal, and we left happy. Nothing fancy, and you will not leave hungry

... seriously...

... this place is an ABSOLUTE JOKE. I still can't believe they had the nerve to serve me eggo waffles and some frozen chicken wings and call this mess chicken and waffles. Run from this place or burn it down; just avoid at all cost. Country cooking by Irene is on the other side of the market and has much better food. This is a negative 1 star.

Sagey sausage and gravy

Best sausage and gravey biscuits in town. It's a cramped little place on the right side of the market entrance but you can grab your cup and plate and go outside and pick any of the many picknic tables outside and listen to live jazz while you chomp.

Waited 40 minutes for veggie omelet while others came in, ate and left. Omelet was too cold to even melt the cheese.

Upscale without being stiff, comfortable without losing that polished feel. I ordered the jambalaya, and it was a standout. Well layered flavor, not overly heavy, with a nice balance of spice and richness. The proteins were cooked properly and the vegetables still had structure, which matters in a dish like that. It felt intentional, not just thrown together for a brunch menu. Across the table, the Eggs Benedict was equally strong. The hollandaise was smooth and properly seasoned, not overly lemony or thick, and the eggs were cooked right where they should be. That is often where places miss, but this one didn't. Dessert was where things really elevated. The strawberry cheesecake was clean, bright, and not overly sweet, with a good texture that held together without being dense. The chocolate Rasberry glutin-free dessert torte, was rich in the right way. Deep chocolate flavor without crossing into heavy or overwhelming. Service was attentive without hovering, and timing between courses was well paced, which is not easy on a busy holiday like Easter. Overall, this is a place that clearly pays attention to execution. Not just presentation, but flavor, balance, and consistency. That is what separates a good brunch from one you remember. We will be back.

It's next to a small playground and new amphitheater, so I'm sure this place gets quite busy on weekends. We all enjoyed our lunches; just unfortunate that it took well over a half hour to receive them. Since we were traveling home to OH, we weren't too keen for a laid back lunch.

One person in our party said her salad had the best dressing she's ever had. The fried pickles were good. The shrimp was good. One bartender was good. Cons - We walked in and basically weren't sure what to do. There was a woman at we thought was a hostess stand, but she never said anything to us. We finally asked if we needed to check in with her to get seated. We did. But it was kind of weird. One bartender was awful. Never made eye contact. Wouldn't take any orders. Acted like she wanted to be anywhere else. I thought the Caesar salad was ok. It came with lacquered salmon. I would have loved the salmon, but not lacquered. It couldn't be made to order. Ok fine. I ordered it the way it was described. There was nothing lacquered about that salmon. It also was shredded on top of the salad and was maybe two ounces. That's ridiculous. Our server wasn't very helpful and not very attentive. I'm sure many people have had great experiences there, but I'm not sure I would take the time to go back.

Perfect crust! So cinnamon-y sweet I ate the whole thing without syrup! Soft scrambled eggs were like heaven. Pork sausage links were so juicy. The grilled potato's so, so good, paired with the sausage it was the perfect amount of salt. I also got a side of sautéed mushrooms, you cannot go wrong with that combo if you love all of these things. The chef really cares for his craft. The vibe of the Acorn Hill Lodge And Bistro is absolutely adorable. Neon light sign in the window, Christmas lights wrapped around supports. Not too bright, not too dark. Again, perfect for early morning! They have more amenities and businesses on sight I hope to check out in the future. No photos, I ate it all too fast. Sorry, not sorry. 10/10! Get those Pancakes!

The waitress never apologized or explained. I had to ask for a box and the check because she was just looking at me without saying anything. Also the food wasn't fantastic either. The eggs weren't totally cooked, the quesadilla was soggy on one side, and I asked for an English muffin but got white bread instead. We asked for berries on the French toast and that was not added. For waiting 45 minutes the meal wasn't anything special. Im giving it a 2 star because the food wasn't disgusting and the environment was relaxing and laid back, oh and the friendly black cat when we walked in was cute.
