Spaghetti, pintos, macaroni and cheese, salmon cakes, beets, deviled eggs, hamburger steak, toast, rolls.

This is an establishment that's going to appeal to a certain clientele. The clientele isn't me. The spaghetti, for instance, I felt was sub par, but my husband liked it. I feel if a small county restaurant has a dessert, it should be homemade, not boxed (and poor quality). The salmon cakes weren't bad and neither were the beans. The hamburger steak tasted burnt and the macaroni and cheese and deviled eggs lacked seasoning and flavor. The raspberry vinaigrette for the salad was tasty. It's a place that the locals likely love but not a place for travelers stopping through looking for a gem. My impression is the food is mostly reheated staples, and from a can or freezer bag.

Great food and a local favorite. Known for their home cooking an good cheeseburgers its a great place for lunch. When I'm visiting my family we usually try to go for lunch when we are in the neighborhood. I've tried everything from club sandwiches to cheeseburgers to other sandwiches and it's all very good. The service is great an food always comes out quick. There are few tables as it's not a big place but we have never had problems finding a seat when we go. They also have homemade desserts. The cobbler when they have it is aweeeMazing...I recommend giving hem a try. You won't be disappointed

This is probably one of my favorite restaurants to eat at. They have a great verity to choose from and the service and food are great. If you've never heard or been here before bring your family and enjoy yourself you won't be disappointed. I'll continue to come back again and again and so you.

A place like this sets an expectation before you even sit down. Between the name and the way it…read morepresents itself, you expect a certain level of care. We came in for breakfast, missed the cutoff, and ended up ordering lunch instead. That shift ended up defining the experience. **FOOD** At the table, we had three different sandwiches, and each one had its own issues, but they all pointed in the same direction. I ordered the Handcrafted King Burger. The name suggests something made in-house, or at least something with a bit of character. What came out looked like a prefab patty. Perfectly round, evenly flat, with the kind of surface you usually see from a frozen product. Flavor was fine, but it didn't match what you expect from a brisket burger. The toppings were standard, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, but the lettuce portion was skimpy and the tomato was sliced so thick it threw the balance off. I ended up cutting it down myself just to make it easier to eat. The fries were fine. Nothing wrong, just nothing memorable. My wife ordered the French dip. It came out dry, which is the one thing that sandwich really can't afford. It didn't seem like it had been dipped at all before serving, and the meat leaned overcooked. The au jus on the side helped once we started using it, but by then you're correcting something that should have been handled in the kitchen. We ended up swapping meals, which usually says enough. My mom went with the BLT, and that was the most disappointing of the three. The bacon was overcooked to the point where it broke down into small pieces instead of giving any real texture. It ate more like bacon crumbles than strips. The tomato had the same issue as mine, cut too thick, and needed to be adjusted at the table. She did like the house chips. Those were crisp, not oily, and easily the most complete item that came out. Across multiple plates, the Swiss cheese stood out, and not in a good way. It had the look and texture of a lower-end processed slice rather than something you'd expect from a deli. It showed up more than once, which made it feel like a standard shortcut rather than a choice. **SERVICE** Service was steady. Our waitress stayed on top of refills and checked in without hovering. Orders were taken correctly, food came out in a reasonable time, and nothing got missed. **AMBIENCE** The space is clean and organized, and it's clear they take care of it. It's a little smaller than it looks online, but it works. Nothing feels out of place, and it's comfortable enough to sit and eat without distraction. **CLOSING** This feels like a place that might do one part of the menu better than another. Based on this visit, lunch didn't hold up. Too many small things were off across multiple plates, and it adds up. We'll likely come back and try breakfast, but there's not much here that would bring us back for lunch. **RATINGS** Food: ** Service: **** Ambiance: **** Overall: *** Personal Disclaimer: I value small, independent restaurants and want them to succeed. This review reflects a single visit and may not represent every experience. EVERY RESTAURANT IS WORTH TRYING FOR YOURSELF. Go, see what you get, and be honest in how you evaluate it. I've worked as an executive chef, restaurant manager, and owner. I tend to hold places to a higher standard. Execution matters. Freshness matters. Effort shows. Cutting corners usually does too.

A bit of a wait, but that was to be expected given that it was also Valentines Day. The hostess greeted us and kept us updated on an approximate wait time. Ultimately, waited for about 20 minutes. The wait time proved to be 100% worth! The menu had something to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. Our waitress was swamped covering two stations, but so attentive to our table. Coffee, OJ and waters were delivered quickly. Once our order was taken, our food was delivered piping hot within 10 minutes. Our meals were incredibly delicious and very generous in portion size. Will absolutley return next time we are in town.

4.5 stars! Had a…read moregreat lunch with colleagues at this historic eatery in downtown Lynchburg. Autumn was an absolute gem. Polite, professional, attentive, welcoming... All while respecting the conversation going on at the table and being mindful not to interrupt. I started with a glass of sweet tea. One sip and I knew I was in the south, for real. Perfectly sweetened, like a glass of 'Southern Champagne' should be. I started with an order of fried pickles. The portion was more than enough to share and they were everything I wanted them to be. Battered and fried, and served with a generous portion of cool and creamy ranch dressing for dipping. A southern staple, and this place did it right. For lunch I had the Reuben with a side of fries. The bread was perfectly toasted and crispy, the sandwich was stuffed with lots of tasty corned beef and sauerkraut, and the fries were piping hot. I'm glad I had a light breakfast that morning because that sandwich was so filling and so good. I noticed that they also serve breakfast all day. My coworkers both decided to get breakfast entrees for lunch, and they looked amazing. Especially those biscuits. The table beside me ordered a huge plate of pumpkin pancakes. I could smell them from the second the server brought them out from the kitchen. Needless to say, I'll definitely be back to check out their breakfast options. This is a charming and quaint little eatery in downtown Lynchburg and I definitely recommend giving it a try if you find yourself on, or near, Main Street.
