If you want a place to hang out and drink coffee while studying with wifi that you have to renew…read morethe online certificate log in every 3 hours, look no further! White Hart has everything just described! The food here is fine and the coffee (despite me not knowing anything about coffee) tastes like coffee. They have an option where you can effectively have unlimited coffee for a small upcharge so this place is a fantastic place to sit down and get lots of work done. The most surprising thing about this place is the French fries are really really good. Like better than a coffee shop should ever have invested in. It leads to this really cozy odd vibe where you see people with unlimited cups of coffee and massive plates of fries hanging out and doing work on these wooden tables. I will also add that the wooden chairs, despite being made out of wood, are really really sturdy. Often times, wood chairs are like falling apart at the seams or due to loose screws, but this place has really good furniture. Some of the tables are a bit wobbly but so be it. The baked goods here are phenomenal despite them not having any apparent oven or capabilities to make any of the stuff they serve. Its a bit pricey but everything is worth eating (so far I've had two cookies, a muffin, a scone, and a Danish, everything ranges from good to fantastic). If I lived downtown I would be at this café every day, but unfortunately I'm only able to come here due to it being spring break. The only qualm I have is that some of the wall sockets are super super loose but not a deal breaker at all!

stopped in on a soggy all day rainy day, to get a coffee to go. First time here and don't know why…read moreI hadn't stopped in earlier all the times I've visited downtown. hubby got the mocha, and I got the Stag. Both were very tasty and we enjoyed them, although a little pricy. Even though we got it to go, we did stick around a few minutes to check the vibe. It reminds me of college - very casual and laid back. Like a giant living room with a mix of upholstered and not furniture. Plan to return to try some food.

Dish is my go to for all occasions…read more This visit was with a friend visiting from Georgia. We had items from the basic menu along with the daily specials. All delicious as always. Staff here is always very welcoming.

I just moved to Lynchburg a month ago and experienced dining downtown last night (for the first…read moretime) and it really made me question if I will ever go downtown again to eat out. I have several issues but will start with the first one that really bothers me: 1. As I approached the restaurant I noticed this homeless man walking around the block with a walker. I was in Dish from 5 - 6:30 and this homeless man came in THREE times to go into the bathroom (he was not a customer). This was not only a huge turn off but IMO a sanitary issue of him going into the bathroom doing who knows what. I saw the expression on the waitress face like she did not know what to do. Was there a manager working? Is this how it is at every restaurant in town that they allow homeless people in to use the bathroom? Are there homeless shelters for people in town to provide care and feeding for them? 2. I ordered a glass of wine on the Happy Hour menu and it was weak, like water was added to it. 3. I ordered the Smoke Salmon encrusted in Puff Pastry and the puff pastry was not cooked all the way (it was clearly visible that it was not a golden brown but rather a pale yellow. I just hope my future experiences in this lovely town on much better than I experienced last night. And one more thing, I have stomach issues today, and all I can think of is the cooks using that bathroom where this homeless guys went in 3 times in 90 minutes. I question how this is not Board of Health Violation.
