    Monte Cristo

This place was super busy when we arrived on a Sunday afternoon but they seated us fairly quickly. Everyone was friendly. Our waitress was very nice. She periodically forgot things and took a while to refill our drinks but I'll chalk that up to it being busy. (The food did seem to sit for quite a while after being plated before it was brought over to us) The food was good and the menu had very good choices. (My only complaint is that the Monte Cristo is nothing like a Monte Cristo and really should be renamed.) The decor is dated but tasteful and didn't bother me one bit as the place has been in business since the 1940s and I love that they've kept it authentic. Everything was clean including the restrooms. It has a very cozy, family friendly vibe. I highly recommend! It's also super convenient to the highway and they have a good amount of parking.

The Cavalier Club with Vegetable Medley

This restaurant is an old school gem! It's been there since 1948 and this was my first visit! I had lunch there today! The place is clean and I mean clean to the point when you open up your napkin, the silverware had no water spots and you know they hand dried the utensils! I ended up ordering The Cavalier Club with spicy mustard in place of the mayo ... OUTSTANDING! My side was the vegetable medley which was delicious! Tea was freshly brewed and was always topped off without asking! Only downfall ... I was too late for the cheesecake ... they had sold out by 1:30pm. I will be back and probably order the cheesecake first! ;-)

What an Amazing place! We stopped in for lunch and was so glad we did. We were greeted and seated quickly. Olivia, our waitress, was exceptional. She took our drink order and gave us time to look over the menu. She gave great suggestions and placed our order. The food arrived hot and was presented beautifully. My Waist Line chicken dish was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The broccoli was delicious as was the Caesar salad I had in place of the cottage cheese. Definitely a MUST visit!

Love this place. Great selection of foods and the service is friendly, fast and accurate. If we lived closer we'd be frequent customers!

Great atmosphere! Food was good, I had the cheese steak. It was ok, really enjoyed the spinach dip. My wife had the French onion soup and 1/2 club sandwich. She enjoyed it and would order again, We'll be back.

    Hush puppies and jalapeño poppers

Beautiful place to enjoy a nice meal! When it comes to the food it gets even better! When I went it was hard for me not to want everything on the appetizer/munchie section as they call it. Which led to me ordering hush puppies, cheese fries, jalapeño poppers, and the chicken quesadilla. Everything was great even their dipping sauces that came with them. Which included ranch, sauce for the poppers, and a sauce for quesadilla. I tried the chicken fajita omelette meal with fried potatoes, fresh fruit, and a roll that made me even more impressed. The only thing that could have been better was their roll. The omelette with a dipping sauce , potatoes that were cooked just right, and their fresh fruit made up for the roll! Ordered a tea which was also great. I was lucky enough to get Haley and was taken care of very well! Awesome place and excited to go back!

I also got The Yardbird sandwich after the server recommended it. It's basically just chicken salad and lettuce between a ciabatta roll, but it was simple and great. And what the heck: I can't visit a bakery that has multiple sweets without getting one. I also listened to the advice of the server when she recommended the orange scone. She was right again! It was tender and tasted like a Froot Loop. Blue Sky is located on the corner of a busy street. There are lots of tables, but if you can, sit at the bar that looks out onto the street to see the hustling and bustling college town.

It's in Lexington, home of VMI, and the shop itself is diagonal from a post office built in 1911 with large columns lining its edifice. Sometimes, when college students leave great reviews, that means good food that isn't too expensive. True here, especially for what you get: generous servings on amazing bakery breads. I had the "Sorry Charlie" on a slice of focaccia -- topped with tomato slices and melted cheese and a satisfyingly crunchy, warm crust, with a simple but nicely refreshing black bean and corn salad. Dessert treats are also worth a splurge. The people couldn't be friendlier with customers of all ages enjoying themselves. (And they have a coffee bar. And a "speakeasy"!)

I was already not in the mood for anymore drinking after spending a weekend in a major tournament in Lynchburg. Anyways, for a Saturday evening, this place was pretty packed both inside and outside. We both ended up getting a flight of beers each and every one was great. The food surprised me as my fish tacos was super fresh. The chips and queso was also great. Overall, a must see - especially for the view of the mountains if you decided to eat outdoors.

They just do them all very slowly or at least they did when I was there. We came here on a Monday evening, and it was somewhat busy but there were visible empty tables and a couple spots at the bar. We went to the bar and waited awhile before the bartender asked what we wanted. I didn't ask for a flight because he seemed too busy. Whatever I wanted they were out of, but I ended up with an Imperial 16-point IPA which was quite tasty. I also got some chicken nachos, but I had to go stand in line to order them. They were adequate but not worth the wait. The place was very disorganized. They had workers always standing by the hostess desk, but the bartender was overwhelmed. Seemed like they should have had more than one, after all it is a brewery. Would have loved to try more beer but we just left and went back into Lexington for another round at another place. I don't know maybe it was just a bad night.

Plenty of fresh spices were on display in the tiny shop, which has a couple of indoor and outdoor seats. I found them offering a vegan breakfast menu, which offered the sort of platter I rarely find available for this dietary niche, including breakfast potatoes, a tofu scramble, a piece of some relatively inoffensive veggie sausage, and bread with what I forgot was not butter. A matcha latte has some interesting sweetener that didn't quite exceed my tolerance and was over coconut milk. My dining companions ordered different things off of the menu and let me take bites: spring rolls (yum, especially with the sauce), empanada (my favorite), falafel (great) and soup (I didn't taste). They also offer vegan desserts, which I was tempted to try but was stuffed from my healthy lunch. The restaurant itself is very small with not a lot of seating. I'd say maybe eight people can sit down inside, but there are some tables out on the sidewalk for outdoor seating.

He raved about the meatballs saying they were homemade and it was one of his favorites. So of course I had to have it. An let me say it was by far the best meatball sub I have had! Just the right amount of everything! An to top it off the bun was toasted which made it even better! My aunt had the club sandwich as was equally as pleased. We took our desserts home as we were stuffed. But they were all amazing. From the cannoli to the cheesecake to the tiramisu. It was all amazing.
