Lunch time! Blue sky added turkey. Delicious.

We popped in for lunch during a road trip. Both my husband and my sandwiches were divine. The bread was so fresh that even my husband commented on it. He's not a man of many words. There was a nice balance of protein and toppings. They have a bunch of different side options too. The team was super kind. They got slammed with a large catering order, but still got our food out quickly and accurately.

The service is great. Always a party around the corner and cheeezeeee! Don't miss a chance to grab a local beer or local cheeses at Sky Bar.

Great service and good drinks. Check out the seasonal menu or mocktails. CHEERS! Where everybody knows your name:)

Fantastic experience! I called from Beckley in need of a gift dozen for nurses in Lynchburg. Vonnie jumped right on it and made me feel 110% at ease with all her scrumptious bakery options. So glad I called ahead because they were able to make a beautiful tray to show our appreciation to the Centra nurses. Thank you Vonnie.

Blue Sky is agreat casual lunch spot on the fringe of the VMI Campus. This lunch one spot is also billed as a bakery but we were interested in sandwiches and soup. On the walk up to the restaurant one of our friends were saying how they enjoyed gazpacho. After we got our table and looked at the menu we were all pleased to see gazpacho as one of the soups. I went up to the counter and put in our order: gazpacho, tuna sandwich, veggie melt, avocado toast and Greek salad. The gazpacho is very pleasant with a nice tomato flavor, chunks of cucumber, and a mild flavor. However my only recommendation was to tone down the sweetness a bit. The tuna salad sandwich was just perfect. The tuna had a great flavor. It was a simple sandwich, consisting of only tuna and a nice slab of lettuce. My wife enjoyed her veggie melt, and avocado toast got high raves as well.In summary, the food at blue sky is fresh and the sandwiches and soups are expertly prepared. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. If you go to blue sky you won't be disappointed!

My 6yo daughter had the waffles, I got the twoseez which was basically toast, scrambled eggs and bacon (which said daughter took), pre-teen son had a bagel sandwich, and wife had an omelette. My wife's omelette was extremely flavorful. What really made it wonderful was the owner's kindness and honesty. Knowing we were tourists asked us what we planned on doing and when mentioning the near by safari park, he said "oh don't play to feed the animals" which was exactly what we needed our kids to hear because two week prior the kids had a field trip to a petting zoo and my daughters class including her all got sick and I didn't want a repeat of that on our vacation... so thank you dude. But also he gave some insider info on where else to go around and that was also appreciated.

He began to go on a rant about how his restaurant works. I said good bye again and walked out the door. He followed us into the street raising his voice and cursing us. I just kept saying good bye as we walked away to the sound to his street mouth curses. IDK who hired this person, or if he owns it, he is in the wrong business. Maybe he should consider another occupation. I would suggest truck driver, but I would not want to degrade the truck drivers to his level. My recommendation is to go somewhere else till he learns hospitality and some manors.

It's a very cute little place that has great local ambiance and the service is great. Our waitress was the same person we had in December. Super sweet and never once did we have to ask for something. I got the fried Southern Catfish again with a side of mac and cheese and coleslaw. Don't forget the cornbread because it was nice and warm when we got it. The pictures below are from the first visit. Ribs, sausage plate, fried green beans. Let's just say the food is on point. I forgot to take the pictures for this trip but my daughter got the grilled PB&J with mac and cheese. My mother got the cheeseburger and my husband got his first ever Cuban panini. Everyone was happy. We got fried green beans and homemade onion rings and I couldn't finish my food. Right before we called it quits our waitress started talking about dessert. I became super curious about the homemade banana pudding because I have always wanted to try it. So I just pretended I was at Italian Xmas Eve Dinner of the Seven Fishes and I found room and damn I was glad I did. First time we were here we talked with the waitress about the fact they were trying to get more foot traffic and I told her how when we were on 81 South we saw their new sign. This place is definitely a little hidden gem that is a must to go and try. Food is on point. Service is above and beyond. You can tell that the food is made with love.
