Lunch time! Blue sky added turkey. Delicious.

We popped in for lunch during a road trip. Both my husband and my sandwiches were divine. The bread was so fresh that even my husband commented on it. He's not a man of many words. There was a nice balance of protein and toppings. They have a bunch of different side options too. The team was super kind. They got slammed with a large catering order, but still got our food out quickly and accurately.

The service is great. Always a party around the corner and cheeezeeee! Don't miss a chance to grab a local beer or local cheeses at Sky Bar.

Great service and good drinks. Check out the seasonal menu or mocktails. CHEERS! Where everybody knows your name:)

Bite size nurse's appreciation platter

Fantastic experience! I called from Beckley in need of a gift dozen for nurses in Lynchburg. Vonnie jumped right on it and made me feel 110% at ease with all her scrumptious bakery options. So glad I called ahead because they were able to make a beautiful tray to show our appreciation to the Centra nurses. Thank you Vonnie.

Gazpacho

Blue Sky is agreat casual lunch spot on the fringe of the VMI Campus. This lunch one spot is also billed as a bakery but we were interested in sandwiches and soup. On the walk up to the restaurant one of our friends were saying how they enjoyed gazpacho. After we got our table and looked at the menu we were all pleased to see gazpacho as one of the soups. I went up to the counter and put in our order: gazpacho, tuna sandwich, veggie melt, avocado toast and Greek salad. The gazpacho is very pleasant with a nice tomato flavor, chunks of cucumber, and a mild flavor. However my only recommendation was to tone down the sweetness a bit. The tuna salad sandwich was just perfect. The tuna had a great flavor. It was a simple sandwich, consisting of only tuna and a nice slab of lettuce. My wife enjoyed her veggie melt, and avocado toast got high raves as well.In summary, the food at blue sky is fresh and the sandwiches and soups are expertly prepared. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. If you go to blue sky you won't be disappointed!

Best food with the nicest staff! The chicken salad is especially amazing, as is the Brie and bacon focaccia.

Not the biggest or most filling sandwiches around, but their focaccia is the stuff of legends. I could seriously eat it every day.

The focaccia is really great. You can get them frozen, take them home, and cook in your own oven. At any location they taste yummy.

Hands down the best tasting chicken salad I've had! Great pricing too! Don't be turned away by the line, it's a sign.

This little shop is fantastic. From 8 AM into the afternoon, they offer delicious coffee, tea, hot chocolate, pastries, and snacks that feel both cozy and elevated. We had hot chocolate, tea, coffee, a pain au chocolat, and a butter croissant -- everything was warm, fresh, and absolutely perfect. It was so good that a few miles down the road, I seriously considered turning around to get more. The staff was incredibly friendly and patient, answering all of our questions without rushing us (there were enough staff working that there was no line). The atmosphere is clean, bright, and inviting -- the kind of place you want to linger in. Next time we're in Lexington, this will be a daily stop. Highly recommend.

I went ahead with that, and it was both redundant of classic ice cream sandwiches, but also delivered a highly pure dairy flavor typical of quality gelato. I got a Matcha to balance out the sweetness. While it looks a little foamy on top, it was a very strong, almost grass flavored beverage that was appropriate to the circumstance. Some premade grab and go food options may be decent, but did not appeal to my needs at that time.

This review is for takeout Tuesday run by the Southern Inn. This is the second time we got takeout…read more The first one was not too good, vegetables were raw and inedible, pork was so so. We decided to give it another try but this time will also be our last. We ordered the chicken and dumplings. What we got was 2 big containers of chicken broth with little scraps of chicken floating in it. It was like lousy chicken soup. The dumplings were not bad but when I found that some of the "chicken" was skin and even a bone I was disgusted. There was not even a half chicken breast total in the 2 orders. I don't know who is really doing the cooking for this takeout service but it is not good.

The Southern Inn was decent! We came in close to closing on a Friday night and they seated us…read moreimmediately with no complaints. We started with the savory cheesecake, which was really more of a cold cheese dip. I was expecting a souffle like item which you would eat with a fork (like a cheesecake) but this was still good! It was delicious on the toasted bread and the tomato jam was good, despite my hesitation. We also got the fried brussel sprouts, which were incredible - perfectly crispy and served with a delicious aioli. I had the salmon club as my entree and kind of expected smoked salmon since it specified a bagel, but it was a cooked piece, which was kind of strange. I almost would have preferred smoked, which would've been easier to eat on a bagel. The entire thing was a little impractical to eat as a sandwich. I did enjoy the slaw, which had a nice vinegary taste. It was definitely the size of a full entree so don't let the "lighter fare" heading throw you off. I would probably come back if I were in the area!
