We stopped there yesterday and only ordered two things on the menu was $40 oh my God. And then the pulled pork is not even a smoked flavor. It was tough and dry. We stopped on our way home to NC for some BBQ at Foothill Mama's and really enjoyed our dinner. Cute local restaurant where we were greeted by a friendly server who when asked about fave dishes, shared great info on their platters, sides and portions. Hubby and I both got the pulled pork platter with delish sides like collard greens, broccoli, and cole slaw. Everything was yummy, along with a nice hunk of cornbread and honey butter to finish it off. You can tell it's popular with the locals too, as many folks also streamed in with their families while we were there. If you're in the area, it's a great stop! read more

Jersey native and this is the second time I have chosen to stop by this place in two months on the way to North Carolina. It's a very cute little place that has great local ambiance and the service is great. Our waitress was the same person we had in December. Super sweet and never once did we have to ask for something. I got the fried Southern Catfish again with a side of mac and cheese and coleslaw. Don't forget the cornbread because it was nice and warm when we got it. The pictures below are from the first visit. Right before we called it quits our waitress started talking about dessert. I became super curious about the homemade banana pudding because I have always wanted to try it. So I just pretended I was at Italian Xmas Eve Dinner of the Seven Fishes and I found room and damn I was glad I did. First time we were here we talked with the waitress about the fact they were trying to get more foot traffic and I told her how when we were on 81 South we saw their new sign. Had the special of 2 pork chops and 2 sides for $12.75. Chops were thick, juicy and cooked to order, with potato salad, cole slaw and 2 big pieces of cornbread. Tasty assortment of barbecue sauces. We sat down and they grabbed us our drinks immediately, and were quick to take our food order. The food was fantastic!!! I ordered the ribs, which I was told they just took them out of the smoker!! And I got two sides, mashed potatoes and baked beans. It also come with corn bread. The ribs tasted so good and their honey BBQ sauce was a wonderful complement to the meat!! I'm a truck driver that loves BBQ and have eaten at various joints all over the lower 48.. With that said this place is hands down without a doubt the BEST place, staff, and food in this world.. The buns are best I've ever had in bun.. The place is extremely inviting and clean.. If you want the BEST BBQ, BEST baked bean, BEST chips and some amazing banana pudding this is the ONLY place you need to go.. There is a fine line between incredible BBQ and great BBQ. Unfortunately I can't see that line so I will go with BBQ I will return for. What really makes this place stand out is the sides. They have great coke slaw and collard greens but the best side is the Mac and cheese. I'm gonna say this is the best Mac and cheese around. As a rule, I try to avoid fast food and corporate chain restaurants. This leads me to small restaurants and roadside BBQ joints everywhere I travel. I rolled into Foothill Momma's BBQ while driving through Lexington, Virginia. As the last section of a strip mall, it didn't seem like a BBQ joint. Clean and well lit with ample parking doesn't feel very old-school. I looked over the menu while the blues played in the background. All that changed when the appetizer arrived. Hand cut potato chips were crisp and hidden under a mountain of cheese, pickled candy jalapeños, sauce, and real deal smoked Pulled pork. Main course was ribs, more pulled pork, garlic smashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, baked beans, and hand cut fries. (3 people in the party and we traded sides.) Portions were big. The sides were homemade and delicious. But any BBQ is measured by it's smoked meats. Mommas's leaves no doubt that they are authentic BBQ. The ribs pulled clean off the bone with great smoke flavor, the pulled pork was tender and flavorful, and the chicken breasts were juicy. If you stop by Foothill Momma's you owe yourself a dessert. The carrot cake was very good, but they have an amazing taste in my Peanut Butter Cream Pie. I've eaten way too many pies in my life, but this is the best peanut butter pie that I've had. The bill was average for a BBQ joint. The great care and generous portions make it a great value. This BBQ. Joint needs to be on your list if you're ever in the Lexington area. read more

Worth the trip My kid had chicken tenders which he enjoyed (wish it came w fries) I had the chicken combo platter which was about $15 and had a healthy piece of tasty chicken and pulled pork. It came w two sides and I picked Mac and cheese and baked beans. Mac and cheese was very tasty. Baked beans had pulled pork in it and it was amazing. Wish I had more lol The pulled pork seemed to be their signature item and I see why. Don't stop here without eating it Coke was $2 (geeze I hate paying for fountain drinks). I thought my pulled pork was dry but it was still good lathered up with sauce and slaw. They toasted the bun which added a flavor I have never had on a bbq sandwich, I really liked the flavor and texture. The bun was huge though.. a lot of bread. My friends and I took a "COVID Girls Trip" to Lexington and stopped here on the way in. There wasn't a ton of options in the area that had outdoor seating, so we thought we would give this place a try. A few girls serviced us and they were very friendly and helpful. They explained different items on the menu and were open to letting us all try all of the different sauces since we weren't very familiar with them. Just as a heads up, when I say outdoor seating, this is about three tables that can seat two or three people in the front of the business. It is great that they tried to make accommodations due to covid, as it doesn't seem like outdoor seating was available previously, so this is a little limited. We ordered the combo platter, which was a good feeling portion for the three of us girls, and allowed us to try and share a few different options. The platter came with chicken, pork, and sausage. I believe it came with cornbread, but we also got mac and cheese, potato salad, and mashed potatoes for sides. Overall, the food was okay. The sausage was my favorite, but we felt that the chicken and pork for a little dry, and the pork was almost too flavorful and seasoned that we needed to cut it with our potato sides or water. The service was good, and one piece of advice that I would give to them is to double check the outdoor tables when customers leave. We cleaned it off a little when we sat down since there were crumbs, and tried to do our best to clean up after ourselves, but since we didn't have proper cleaning supplies, this probably could be more thoroughly cleaned by an employee before the next customers use the same table. read more

Oh man this is a gem! They have 3 types of bbq sauce: tomato, vinegar, honey mustard. Plenty of parking nearby, open inside, funny shirts, some beer/wine, clean bathrooms, fantastic blues music playing, and INCREDIBLE BBQ! Both my coworker and I enjoyed our sandwiches. This is a really fun, well-intentioned small BBQ restaurant that does things the right way. The staff are all super friendly, and it's clear they wanna make sure that you are happy and enjoying your food. Aside from the food, they have a pretty decent offering of tasty local beers and the desserts are great. Now for the food. Generally, it's all prepared really well and fresh. I had the pulled pork, with the vinegar sauce, collared greens and onion rings. It was all really good. In fact, I ate it all. Normally, I'm taking BBQ home, but not this stuff. It was tasty, not fatty, and obviously smoked the right way. Would I go again? For sure. Is it the best I've ever had? No. But it was damn good. Stop by and show them some love. While on the way to Natural Bridge, my girlfriend and I were looking for a local place to grab a bite to eat. We chose this place based on their menu, ratings, and proximity to the interstate, plus we had to find a place that was doing dine-in meal service during COVID. This appeared to check all of those boxes. We arrived and were seated promptly in a nearly empty restaurant. While reviewing the menu, the waitress came and checked on us twice; however, we were not ready to order. From there, the service went downhill quickly. It was about another 15 minutes before she checked on us again despite having the menus closed for at least 10 of them. After being served we had our drinks filled once. When it came time to receive the check it was another lengthy ordeal. Despite the food being tasty, this place was a hassle. I had the BBQ platter, and I do not recall what my girlfriend had. Loved this little spot while driving back to DC from North Carolina! There's a smoker out front with a funny sign and the reviews are fire so I knew I had to come here. I ordered the chicken with Cajun barbecue sauce with a side of broccoli, collards and the chips and dip for an appetizer. The Cajun barbecue was phenomenal! I thought the chicken could have been a bit different since it was really just a chicken filet but it was still great. The collards were excellent. The broccoli was forgettable but the cornbread -- oh my -- the cornbread and the honey butter was anything but. The chips and dip were cooked just right.
