Ordered a side of mashed potatoes for almost $4 & it's literally in a cup slightly bigger than the cup of bbq dipping sauce for my fries.... A legit 2 inch tall cup of mashed potatoes. What on earth?? I ordered an appetizer & a side & it came to $15. I definitely would not have tipped on top of that if I knew the mashed potato side was the size of a Sam's Club free sample. I've heard great things about this place, but definitely make sure you read reviews & look at the pictures, because you pay way more money than you get food worth. I saw the reviews of how small the Cole slaw side was, but being a server for over 12 years I figured the photo was the free side of slaw all restaurants give with their pulled pork... Really great food. I was on the fence driving an extra 15 minutes out of the way to get something to eat, and almost settled on someplace else, so glad I didn't. Staff was so helpful and friendly, helping to give advice on what they like and why. Our drinks remained full, and we were often checked on. The food was delicious, you could taste the smoke flavor in everything, and the portion size was generous. Several sauces that you could add to your preferred flavor were the crown jewel. On your way into Lexington is a small unpretentious but very good BBQ juck joint This is a regular spot for my horse show friends Very casual flip flop kind of place There is a bar but only for bottles of beer My friends get the pulled pork. I get the brisket. It states that its like pot roast and I agree. It's got au juice and your choice of sauce. I like the vinegar base spicy and flavorful. The brisket is not fatty and you get a big portion. I usually split it with someone else. I get the coleslaw ( sweet and creamy) and the smashed red potatoes. Unassuming place -but worth the short mile off 81. Clean sanitary atmosphere, excellent attentive service, quick service and just delicious with a little something for everyone and a kids menu too. Happened upon this place while staying in Lexington. The owner was our server the first night (we went twice during our weekend stay!!) and she was fantastic. Not only was she helpful with the menu, recommending different sauces, dishes, etc. but she was also personable/lovely all around. We asked for a special order of bacon cheese fries...amazing! I recommend the BBQ ranch on the side! We also tried the chicken tenders, ribs, nacho appetizers with chicken, and the homemade brownie sundae. The ribs are smoked every Friday and Saturday...they fall off the bone! We also tried three of their sauces, I enjoyed the tomato based one! The amount of pulled pork on my platter bordered on excessive - just like I like it. Like, the best way I can describe it was... it was about the size of half of a nerf football. Yeah, that much. The pork was tender and flavorful. The chicken was tender and flavorful. 3 bbq sauce offerings at the table: 1. Sweet & Spicy: My fav 2. Honey BBQ: My second fav 3. Cackalackan: a vinegar based sauce ( which I usually like this one the best). But, it just had too much pepper for my taste) Our waitress Ashley was fantastic. Great food! I had the ribs and my husband had the pork platter; both were delicious. We especially loved the baked beans.

We were scrambling for a place to have lunch around Lexington, and scrambling after another restaurant moved our reservation inside and then didn't call us to let us know. As we aren't comfortable eating inside yet, that was a no go. Called Foothill Mama's, and they were super helpful. Now, the important part - food was excellent. Chippers and fried green beans both super tasty, and pork was clearly slowly smoked as it has almost no fat but wasn't at all dry. Cornbread was top notch, and fries hand cut. Even had chocolate, strawberry and vanilla milk for the kids. We will absolutely come back the next time we are in or passing through Lexington. read more

This little place is located on the outskirts just as you are heading out of Lexington. I tried the pulled pork platter with the collard greens and the baked beans. The food isn't as good. They always seem to be out of brisket. Their pulled chicken isn't pulled at all (it's one chicken breast so dry we couldn't eat it. The only thing I've gotten that is consistently good are the pulled pork chips and cheese. Order sauce on the side if you're a picky eater. Our call in order was misunderstood so we ended up with $51 of dried out food instead of the $23 plus tax we actually ordered.
